Students post videos of brawls online
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion
First off I think one of my co-workers would love to get in on this and try to do a video recorded fight with me, but that's just because she's got issues. And she's mad at me about saying her Coach bag was fake and that I didn't like her tailgating me.:animesigh Second I'm with you Rach when you say that fighting is stupid and really what are these students trying to prove anyway? It will ruin them in the long run especially when potential employers look them up online and see what they were getting into when they were in high school. Seriously one of the best ways to lose a job and respect is for someone to find crap like that online where you were involved. Especially if you were the one fighting in the first place. If you were the one getting beat up, it could have the potential to work in your favor. I got bullied in high school so I definately wouldn't be the one in on it or holding the camera. I'd be the one trying to break it up and saying something about it. It's just not right and who the hell do these people think they are that they can beat someone up and record it then be dumb enough to psot it on youtube. As far as I know it's not an issue in my area. But considering how the violence is in some of the schools here and how in denial my local school district is about bullying in school it could be a problem and no one would know about it. -
What did you want to be when you grew up?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
When I was 8-10 I wanted to design video games. For some reason, I had it in my head that if I sold a game idea to Nintendo they would give me exactly 2 million dollars. I created a game that was a unique twist on Zelda which I plotted out in the form of a strategy guide, drew maps for, and drew every enemy for. Good times.
My boyfriend is in school for that now. Turns out a decent video game designer can start out at about 20$ an hour and after they trust you you have a chance to make your own games instead of working on everyone elses. But when he was growing up he wanted to be a ghost buster. :animesigh So now what do I get to say? I went through a phase in kiindergarten when I wanted to be one of the Colour Kids from Rainbow Bright... oh! Thread Bunny! Anyways I went as Shy Violet one year for Halloween and no one had a bloody idea who I was and then I got in trouble for colouring on the walls. But oh well new dream. -

What did you want to be when you grew up?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Wow I totally forgot about this thread- whict as D'Rizz would love to point out is because I have a lot of threads now. But anyways other things I wanted to be when I grew up: An interior decorator. I even played that with a friend of mine. We'd pretend to have an office and lots of clients. It was so much more fun than Barbie A cooking show host. Again I played this with the same friend. We kinda screwed up some Chicken Noodle soup and some chocolate chip cookies to play this game News Reporter, sports reporter. This game happened a lot in the winter. Especially when my friend and I were pretending to cover the winter olympics- in my backyard while using microphones that were really part of my brother's Kinex set. Artist. This was mostly a pre-school thing. I did lovely portraits of porcupines. Veterinarian. This actually followed me to College but then I found out that the Equine Science program at SUNY Morrisville was really hard to get into so I settled for Conservation. Yeah I was a bit out there.. there could be more later. I don't know. -
I accept that challenge Chibi! 1.) Generate much needed tax revenue for our government and it's presidents crazy money making schemes. (For some reason I get the Lucielle Ball, Desi Arnez vibe from Obama and Biden. One day I wait for a presidential Addres in which Obama talks about ANOTHER trillion dollar spending package to in turn make money, in which Joe Bidden steps in and says "Obama! You got some splainin to do!". Then of course Obama breaks down and cries over it.)
[]Well so does Barbie. And the fashion industry. That was a bit off topic. I mean I keep hoping we can fix the budget. And I feel bad for him because Bush left him with this POS economy... but yeah let's keep to the subject at hand. QUOTE=Drizzt Do'urden;833308]2.) (More on topic) They teach kids that being different is okay (they broke the racial barrier MUCH faster then barbie did.) as long as your clothes are fabulous.
[In Barbie's defence she came out in 1959 when it wasn't all that common and in some cases okay for racial mixing. I believe the first black Barbie (Christie- now Nikki) was created in the late sixties. The Bratz came out in the late 90's early 2000. It'd've been frowned upon if they didn't make different races (then give them extensions and itty bitty noses) I really feel sorry for the Obama's daughter. Do you all know the horror of having a Bratz doll have the same name as you? I do.
3.) They teach young girls that dressing trashy (no offense to anybody here who idolizes the bratz and dresses like them.) is a sure fire key to success....oh wait
[Yeah I know. Around Christmas time I was going through the toy aisle while talking on the phone with a friend of mine. I saw these Party time Bratz and I started yelling Oh my GOD! THey have hookah (I've a major NY accent when I get mad or excited) Bratz with stripper shoes!! Needless to say there were stares. I guess if your only prospect in life is to become a stripper or a hooker then Bratz will help you get there.
I suppose that means I've failed...well I tried.:animeswea
[nods* Well kinda. But I will say my daughter has one Bratz doll and a three Bratz Kidz. But really not a fan.
Barbie is awesome. Playing with Barbies, DBZ action figures, and Pokemon figurines was a major pastime for me as a kid. Each Barbie, Kelly, Ken, Gohan, Trunks, Pikachu, and Snorlax had a family, history, personality and a name.
You forgot the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Kid's meal toys, those Fisher price dolls I had that had colour change hair and My Little Pony. But I see where you're coming from. Especially now with a child of my own. I see where you're coming from. Banning Barbie is like banning creativity. As for the Bratz rant early last year. Please someone tell me three positive things that the Bratz do.

Manga What was your first manga?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Filipinorocker1's topic in Otaku Central
My very first manga... I fcame across it accidently. It was some short story about a neko-girl fighting some monsters (0.o)... Of course I can't remember its name and all my search of it wasn't successful.
Sounds like you may have read Tokyo Mew Mew. But that's just my guess. It's the closest I could come up with when you mentioned neko girls. It is a very cool Manga. -
I thought 15 hands with my hands would've made for a tall horse. Thank you chibi I feel much more edumacated now. Also, what exactally is the Strong Museum? A museum in a place called strong? Or some sort've weight lifting museum? Genuinely curious, though I'll admit that was a smart alleckie way of asking. Learned the hard way about DDR myself in tech school....so many goats..
I forget the exact origins of measuring horses by hands, but there is some reasoning behind that. Oh yeah the Strong Museum is short for the Strong National Museum of Play (google it, you know you want to!). They've all sorts of toys and things to do there. It's named after Magaret Woodbury Strong some rich lady who donated a lot of toys there and money. As for DDR, I've been slowly getting better since I've been going to the museum since you can play for free there. But I try not to play at home since my mat moves every which way. Hmm any more relative klutzyness? Well my boyfriend managed to wash his passport in the laundry the last time he was down here. We found that out because he'd called me at work (when work was an elderly person's house not an assisted living community) and said that he couldn't find his passport in his hotel room so I told him I'd help him look then on my way to his hotel I called my dad to tell him that my boyfriend had lost his passport. My dad wanted to know what it looked like so I said: Like the US one, only it says Canadian stuff on it. So as I'm getting off my exit my dad calls and says he found Lee's passport, it was in the pocket of his jeans. Oh well at least those Canadian passports are durable. And they let him out of my country back to his. And yes, he knows that I tell people this.
How does that work? I have large hands so would it be 12-13 for me?
A hand is an equine measurement. Each hand equals four inches and a horse is measured from it's hoof to the withers (shoulder) So fifteen hands equals sixty inches or five feet. There now you've learned something new. Okay back to the subject at hand... no pun intended. Today I had a day off from work so I took my daughter to the Strong Museum. While I was in the coat room hanging up our jackets the metal hanger I was holding slipped up and popped me in the lip. It hurt for a while. I've also managed to twist my ankle playing DDR in Las Vegas and had to limp back to my room. Yeah I'm a klutz and a very painful one at that.

Okay in all fairness many of the members here are in school in one way or another. But the rest of us do have jobs that we at least don't mind waking up to do (even if the supervisors do need to visit a proctologist to get their head removed from their butts) So now after finding out that when he was growing up my boyfriend wanted to be a ghost buster I've decided to ask everyone else what they wanted to be. Starting with myself. When I was little I never wanted to be a princess like most girls probably did (well the annoying ones) Nope, not me. At one point I wanted to be a lion trainer. I'd end up playing circus with a friend of mine and held up a hula hoop saying: Jump Through the hoop my lion. Don't ask why I remember such strange things I just do. The more normal things I wanted to be include a writer (I do that now by doing fanfiction) and a doctor (the closest I got to that is being a home health aide. So anyone else before I dredge up the really old but good thread topics?

Can't they just ban Bratz instead? At least Barbie's had a few different degrees and jobs(pediatrician, Dentist, Vet, animal trainer, dance teacher, soccer coach, astornaught (can't spell that) President (more than a few times) College graduate, model, TV chef, pilot ect ect ect) Yes I do think at times the clothing gets a little extreme, but at least she's proven a few times that being pretty or well dressed isn't everything, you also need to get an education. I like Barbie and I've bought a few for my daughter (including a Ken who my sister-in-law and I have dubbed Metrosexual Ken because he has eyeshadow and lipstick!) They go driving and shopping and on long expiditions in her bedroom. Then they go and steal the computer from the Barbie fashion boutique really it's cute to watch. I believe that Barbie helps with imagination (Barbie Soufle anyone?) and to ban her would just be crazy. And like Raiha said, get that Lawyer back to trying to help people or banning something worth while, like I don't know Barney, or cousins marrying cousins.

Okay so in the St. Patrick's day thread I was going on about the dumb things my brother has done and sharing them with people I don't really know. So now I figure that I should start a thread to show case klutzy moments. Either your own or ones from your friends and family members. Because why shouldn't you share your loved ones emberassments with people who don't know them? A few boring ones of mine include falling up the steps to the stage in drama club. We were practicing for Inherit the Wind when the towns people are doing.... ugh something I can't remember. Either way I was supposed to get on stage and instead I just fell up the stairs. There's also the fact that this one horse where I ride I can not dismount him bareback without falling on my butt. I don't know why because he's not a tall horse, only about fifteen hands. But every time I go to dismount him bareback I fall on my butt. I don't know if that's being a klutz or just horrid balance. So share some of yours and then the next time i post I'll share some from other people. Or maybe they'll be mine, but I'll just blame them on other people.
I don't do anything. About the only concession to this holiday I have is to have a touch of green on somewhere since some people think you need to pinch others who don't. Seriously though, other than that, I do nothing special for this day at all.
Well I lucked out there because my work shirt has two little green leaves on it. I also plan on wearing some st Patrick's day socks. Yeah either on or around St Patrick's day my family gets together to have corned beef and cabbage. The whole house smells like someone farted :animesigh Most of the time it's an uneventful day except for the time my brother took a swig of the white vinigar thinking it was water. It was almost as good as the time he stabbed himself in the back of the head with a fork! Yeah And I don't really go out and get drunk. But I may tell people yes I'm Irish, kiss me and I'll break your face. Then make cupcakes.

So... what did you get for Christmas?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Okay I know it's over two months past Christmas, but my friend Angel finally got her taxes so she got me my belated Christmas gifts which I should be getting in a few weeks. She got me the entire Ouran High School Host Club anime box set so now I'll know what the heck her and our friend Lisa are talking about when they go all fan girl on me. She also got me 2-5 of the Ouran High School Host Club manga. Don't get too excited for me though because these are also being combined to be my early birthday presents so she doesn't have to worry about being broke. -
I was thinking of something else too, alot of members here are still in school so that could be a reason too.
Yeah school. Or maybe work. Or raising kids. Or some kind of odd combination of the three. Let's face it we're all out leading lives of one thing or another and sometimes we just can't find time to post. Then we come back and find that they've moved things on us! :animestun Why!? Oh well at least there's proof that will all still live.
I've noticed that the boards seem to be like taking a hit to the Corotid (to lazy for spell check). It comes in spurts, then it'll stop almost dead. Then your sutchers (once again lazy) tear and your spurting again. Since you have faithful medical providers(senior members, mods, admins) it never dies. Hope that metaphor was sufficient to say I have no idea why, and i just wanted to be part of the conversation.
I was moved by that euphemism. :animecry: But yes I've notice the slow down myself and I'm not on as much as I used to be. Mostly because of teh same reasons as knuckles girl... okay I only have one kid and I won't be moving for another two years. But I've a full time job with crazy hours and I work per diem as well. Plus when I am online I'm usually arguing with people on AIM and YIM and since this messageboard requires mainly well thought out posts it's hard for me to figure out what to write so I just give up and let something slide. But hey for now we seem interesed all over again since there's a new thread! Besides now that I have a new font and a new colour I've decided to post more again.

I work with people with those diseases (eerily enough most of them are college educated which is really supposed to help PREVENT memory loss so I thought) It's a horrid disease- okay diseases, they're horrid diseases.) Oh and the naked cowboy isn't really naked (they have one in Manhattan as well) he wears underpants! As for Vicky's question, eat the cheese slices no contest. Vicky, just make sure you keep that naval piercing clean. They get the most infected out of any piercing and are the hardest to keep clean. Well I did get my eyebrow pierced once because I thought it would look cool. But that didn't last too long. I think one of the craziest things I did on the spur of the moment was punch my ex husband. But hey I had a reason. I'd driven from Rochester to Ft. Drum (3.5 hrs!)in the rain and then he refused to give me gas money and threatened to just not come down that weekend to visit our daughter then I found out that he'd been having an affair. So really I was quite pissed off and with our then 11 month old in a football hold I punched him in the nose. :animesmil In all honesty I don't regret it and I wish I'd broken his nose since he was such a git about the whole divorce. Last week on the spur of the moment I came home from work with my daughter, changed my clothes and made an hour drive to Buffalo just to shop. I even bought a pair of Coach sneakers for eighty-eight dollars. But then on the drive back to Rochester my boyfriend managed to talk me out of it

I've two friends exactly my age (twenty-seven going on twenty-eight in August) who are even more into anime and manga than I am. Although I've gotten back into most of it now. We're a bit out there at times. We've even decided on naming our inner fangirls (Fanisa, Fangie and Fanabeth respectfully) because they seem a part of us. However I don't think we fit the stereotype of a typical anime and manga otaku. One of my friends is been in the same relationship with the same guy for about seven years and works at our state capitol. My other friend is single by choice and works over nights at her local Walmart. I'm a resident associate in a two year relationship with a daughter. We all go to anime stores, comic stores and watch what we can and get fangirl-ish when we watch Ouran High School Host Club and think no one can lay claims on such and such and pick on eachother. But then we get back to real life. And the fact that my one friend's cousin keeps trying to make herself into a fan girl. I don't feel though that anyone would view us as stereotypical or text book otaku. That said I've also a male friend a few years younger than me who is obsessed with DDR, Japanese culture, Asian girls (he's scared the crap out of a mutual friend of ours who's Asian) and video games. He once got so into (okay is still into) Be 4 U that he'd managed to work it into every conversation. In his defense he does have apsgers (can't spell it) which makes social situations difficult for him, but that doesn't make it less annoying. He's also short, nearly twenty-two and has never had a real girlfriend. It's quite sad at times. At others it's obnoxious.
1. Would you rather be a dragon or Superman? 2. Would you rather have no arms or no legs? 3. Would you rather never be able to listen to music again, or would you rather never have sex again?
Oh wow, well I thought this was going to be a game. Yep I'm bored in that hour and a half before work. I need something to keep me from going to Macy*s and buying the Coach sneakers I want so bad! ;) Okay so here are my answers: 1.) I'd want to be a dragon. But only if I could also appear human at times. I read Dragon's Bait by Vivian Vande Veld a while back and was taken in by the character (who I can't remember the name of) Who transformed from a human to a dragon. Okay it'd be a pain to find clothes every once in a while, and there are some crazy restrictions about the transformation. But it'd be better than being Superman since Lex Luthor is always trying to kill him. Only knights want to try and kill dragons and you can just blow fire at them. 2.) I'd rather have no legs because as everyone has states to far there are prothstetics that look like real legs. Plus no one is ever horrid to you when you're handicapped they feel over obligated to be nice to you. 3.) Damn you're some kind of evil here No sex or no music. As much as I'd miss it I'd have to go with no music because as much as I think I admire those people in sexless marriages I don't want to be in one and neither does my boyfriend. Oh man that would just be unbearable. No sex, God I may as well become a nun!
