Anime Who is the best anime character, in your opinon?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to King Vicious 2's topic in Otaku Central
It's so hard to just pick one favorite anime character since there are so many that I like based on different characteristics. I have my favorite male villain, my favorite female villain, my favorite good guy/girl , my favorite senshi (from SailorMoon) even my favorite tragic death scene character so I guess I just have to mention all of them right? Wrong I'll spare eveyone for now: My choice is Kagura from INuYasha she's a pretty good villain, but that's not all. She tries to rebel against Naraku even though by doing so she could lose her life. Also, the way she interacts with Sesshomaru. Kagura doesn't use polite honorfics which are due to a youkai (or even a regular human) of Sesshomaru's status and she really doesn't seem to care. She has a great combination of deviance, poise and strength which is why Kagura is my favorite anime character. -
I found Algebra relatively easy for a math class.Of course, then there was business math and that was easy because it was useful. Now Geometry, there's a stupid and pointless waste of a school book. Soal I think you should replace Algebra with Geometry and make the story make sense.

Something that nobody has directly mentioned yet is that abusing POWs by military personnel is a global war crime according to the GEneva Conventions. And it's guaranteed that these soldiers will eventually be court marshalled for breaking international laws As for the whole chain of command thing. The higher ups (including Rumsfeld and Bush) Should have had some idea of what was going on. They should all be held responsible for their actions from E1 to the Secretary of defense. Another thing that kind of cheeses me off is Bush's appology...to the Prince of Jordan and Rumsfeld's refusal to resign. Bush should make a direct appology to the families of these Iraqi POWs and Rumsfeld-between denying the Guantanamo prisoners some rights under the Geneva convention and then not understanding that he is in some ways responsible for these actions is not only sickening, but detrimental to our country.

I'm really looking forward to the sequel to Shrek comming out on the 21 of May. The first one was really funny. I enjoyed the voice talents and the story. I even went out and bought the video the day it was released and I've never done that before. So, is anyone else planning on seeing this movie?

I don't really go for that type of movie so no, I won't be seeing it since : 1.) I'll have to get up and go to the rest room 5x during the movie and 2.) Like I said, it's not my kind of movie. But I've heard it was based on a book by some guy, but I can't remember the name of the author. So could someone help me with that?

Well, you could do what my husband did when he got my cat and named her before I got a chance: Show her to people and get advice and don't use a name that is always used for an animal that looks like yours does. You could go anime and name her Kagura. That reason is because Kagura has red eyes and your rat has pink.red eyes. I guess that's the best advice I can give. Maybe if you put up a picture of her, we could do a better job.
Personally, I'd be compelled to hesitate before pairing up two homicidal sociopaths (especially these two), but I've seen it done. I think the main reason that 'odd/even' pairings are so popular in Gundam Wing is that since Heero and Trowa are so similar, a relationship between them wouldn't be nearly as fulfilling (or interesting) as separate romances with Duo and Quatre, respectively. If opposites attract, than the differences between those opposites highlight the corresponding variations within their 'other halves', so to speak. Who you fall in love with is a huge reflection upon your character. I'd find it a bit narcisistic, almost, to envision Heero and Trowa in love. But hey- to each their own.
I think it would be interesting to put the two together and see how long it would take for the whole shabang to fall apart. If you keep them away from weapons and give them concelling, who's to say that they would ultimately make a fairly decent non canon anime/manga couple? Of course now the fun part-getting those two to speak more than one line a day. That's like getting porcupines to mate! Also, maybe the fact that some of their characteristics are so simular would have some positive effects on the whole relationship and really get the proverbial ball rolling. I've also wondered how Duo and Trowa would get along since well, nobody's really mentioned it. What do you think? Oh, to give shoujo-ai pairs their due, maybe Usagi really should just forget about Mamoru and go with MInako like that picture from one of the SailorMOon Tankubon. OF course, I've also thought of Usagi and the Manga Seiya
since in the manga the three lights were NEVER men.
Besides they kissed. :D
They aren't, TMNT was created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird in the early 80s. The name was a pun on the X-Men's teenage mutants and the ninja's from Daredevil. Then it was snagged by tv and then it became a movie and a full blown fad. But like most of the other major comics it was made in the USA before it was animated in japan.
Oh, sorry, you're wrong you waggered how much? Oh I'm so sorry, thank you for playing tho. Harry's right. and I have this on good authority from the people I know who collect comics because they're nerds. And nerds know everything

Since sexy is in the eye of the beholder and I'm a confident straight woman I can confidently say that Brittney Spears is about as sexy as my dirty underwear. Right? If confidence is sexy, I think Ms.Spears is severly lacking since all she does is lipsynch her music and strip off her clothes. With a size 2 body that hardly takes confidence. All that takes is complete disreguard for yourself. People may think that she's a risk taker for doing what she does on stage. Madonna pre-dates that girl by fourteen years. Madonna danced around in lingerie, kissed a statue of Jesus in one of her videos and was talking about sex and things when Ms.Spears was getting her first training bra. Plus, Madonna has talent not only as a singer, but as an actress (okay, so she was only in one really good film) Madonna is in her mid-forties and still looks good. Big deal Brittney kissed her. I kissed a girl once too, in Wal*Mart, where's my fifteen minutes of fame!?
I don't know about the whole perpective thing, but I don't believe in it. I have total respect for your opinion, now, but the things they are do are flat out unacceptable.
I'm glad that you respect this opinion. In no way am I trying to give the POWs the short end of the stick by saying that in some way the soldiers involved were justified. I'm also not trying to say that any sort of inhumane treatment is acceptable by any military installation. rI'm saying that nobody was thinking clearly and Bush should show some sort of humility by dismissing Rumsfeld from his command as Secretary of defense. Of course, that last part is neither here nor there. The people who are suddenly blaming their commanding officers should try to take some responsibility for their actions, not go around blaming the entire chain of command. Yes in some ways the chain of command was responsible because they may have ordered them to abuse the POWs, but each individual had the choice fo refusing questionable orders from their commander. (as far as I know, I don't know how everything works in the military) There's always room fro questioning a command your superiors give you if you believe that it could be illegal
Of course, it is just not the Iraq war and it is just not American male soldiers. Women and male soldiers of every country who has been to war in other countries have somehow abused POWs. During the Korean war, soldiers raped women, leaving them with unwanted children and the consequenced of automatically being looked down upon as low-class prostitutes.
If we're going to look at war time atrocities, let's look at the Japanese Imperial Army during WW2 for starters. When they invaded the Chinese mainland the soldiers raped and murdered women no matter what age, young or old. THey promised to let people who surrendered live them killed them. And what they did to their POWs rivals anything the US, UK or Iraqi military has done to their POWs. THe Japanese soldiers injected their POWs with all sorts of diseases, starved them, beat them and made them do hard labor. There was all sorts of abuse to their POWs. And to their captured countries.
If we're all going to look at this from the perspective that being in a war zone is stressful, well, I don't believe in it. Most of them are probably drunk or whatever while doing it, which is why the made the stupid decision to take pictures hoping that people wouldn't find them.
I'm not trying to be disrespectful to your thoughts and opinions, but my husband is over there so I do know a few more things about the situation. Let's see, how can a war zone not be stressfull? Hmm...your base is bombed every night. When you're out in a convoy you run the risk of being shot at, captured, mutilated, killed, or running over a mine and being blown up. You get about 3 hours of sleep a night if you're lucky and the people forget to send their motar round to your base. You have kids waving guns in your face, even if it's just a b.b. gun, if someone doesn't know that they could shoot the kid and start a riot in teh marketplace. You barely get to talk to your loved ones. The base runs out of running water and food. Unless you're lucky enough to be 31-fox or 31-romeo (from what I've been told) you don't get a day off to relax. NO, war zones aren't stressfull at all. Oops, sorry, sarcasm. There goes your first theory unless you actully think you wouldn't get stressed with only 3 hrs of sleep and work 21/7. Let's see, drunkeness, That perspective would be wrong because they don't allow the consumption or sale of alcohol during wartime when the soldiers are constantly on duty. So there goes your second theory. Nobody was drunk when they took the pictures.. Maybe they were just feeling stupidly proud of their actions. It's obvious nobody was thinking of what would happen after Iraq and their military careers Until the trials begin I'm afraid none of us will really know

The rest are just extremely random Friends don't shoot friends-Bruce Willis Unbreakable Well as far as I know friends don't shoot friends, I thought this was a very funny quote even though Bruce's character's son tried to shoot him with a hand gun. And it's true, if you're friends with someone you shouldn't try to shoot them. Mostly becuase if you do it kind of breaks the bonds of trust in a friendship. True friendship is never serene-Marie de Cervigne I don't know if I got the woman's last name correct, but that's not what I was going to talk about. The point of this quote is that even the best of friends will fight at times. The thing is after these fights you should try to reconcile your differences our else you'll never be able to have trust in a friendship. I slept and dreamt that life was beauty; I woke, and found that life was duty-Ellen Sturgis Hooper No matter how much you try, life isn't always pretty. You have a duties to fulfill in life and you can't try to get out of them. If there was a such thing as sorry, we wouldn't need the police! Kino Makoto Bishoujo Senshi SailorMoon She said this after Matoki and her collided in an episode. The whole episode is full of Sd characters and had a scene of Makoto choking Mamoru so it's definately worth watching. Anyways, I just thought this an appropriate comment comming from someone who's character was such a violent girl. I'd like to help you with your life, but I'm all out of magic-T-shirt How many times have you wanted to say this to a person and just couldn't for fear that they'd run away and call the funny farm? From all of 'us' to all of 'you' have a great summer-Amanda's yearbook note to me. This referes to all our characters that we used in our SM RPG and our stories. We were very strange individuals Money doesn't grow on cheese ya know.-Amanda We were bored and talking about how much we shopped and things like that. Amanda said that she usually took her brother's clothes and wore them when she could. Some busy body girl asked her why and she replied, 'money doesn't grow on cheese ya know.' That became one of our sayings for the rest of the year. The stupid shouldn't talk, but that's never stopped any of them-me I used this quote in a now defunct Gundam Wing fanfic I was writing. I always thought it was very true though. Many stupid people talk about things they know nothing about, but lack of knowledge doesn't stop them from making fools of themselves. Fact: Cat's don't come with brakes-Lysol commercial. Well, they don't. Have you ever seen a cat with a sign around its neck advertising anti-lock brakes or any type of brakes for that matter? I thought not. Mary had a little lamb. Her father shot it dead. It went to school with her each day between two hunks of bread.-The morbid version of Mary had a little lamb I learned from my papa (maternal Grandfather) And for the longest time that's actually how I thought Mary had a Little Lamb went. I had absolutely no clue until I was five that it went: Mary had a little lamb, it's fleece was white as snow ect ect. Mary had a little lamb...with mint jelly-guess who taught me that Well, maybe she did.
As I've said to other people like you, go see a doctor
And as I've said to ther peopel like you, I'm very sorry that you are a shallow brained ignoramous
I guess this was a bit over your head, eh?
Grass is over his/her head. Anyways, back to the topic at hand. *picks up map and drives over to the topic* I hope I'm getting this right. 1.) Can a person be unaffected by social functions There are events that may occure in a person's life that can change them drastically. Take soldiers in warzones for example. When these people first get in country they are inexperianced (for actual battle even though they have gone thru various NTC and FTX things) fearless and sometimes even carefree. However after about six months in country (meaning in the warzone) things have chanegd for them. Some of their buddies may have died, they may have experianced violent fighting and their bases have been bombed frequently and without warning. They have gone with out sleep or maybe with only three hours of sleep (the military actually only requires soldiers to have between 3-4 hours of sleep) A few of them may have had near death experiances. In a mere six months these people's lives have changed dramatically. War has been a social change for these people. 2.) Do people feel fulfiled by their relationships? That's a good question, but I'm not quite sure how to answer it. I love my husband, and I definately treasure spending time with him since times like that are few and far between. I'm looking forward to spending time with him uninterupted by the military when he comes home permanently, so in saying this does that make me feel fulfilled by the relationship we have? Somewhat, because what we go through makes us stronger. Does everyone? I don't know, I'm not everyone. 3.) Do people feel a need to be validated by their relationships? I can't answer for everyone, I can only answer for myself from my own feelings, but I'd have to say no. I feel thatyou can still feel liek a full person male or female without being in a relationship with a another person. Sometimes even with family members not everyone can have a strong relationships. The thing is to acknowledge that you do need people to get along in life and you do need to have people to depend on, but don't base your life on one person opr another completely.

I like to play in mud. I have since I was I was a little kid and my mom would get mad since she had to do the laundry. It's actually very fun. You go out on a hike in one of the old training feilds on base after a rain storm and squish through the mud. Most of my friends would be disgusted by this, and my husband doesn't seem to share my enthusiasm, but hey, what do I care? I'm playing in mud! I also watch Rugrats, Liberty's Kids and Jerry Springer. Oh, and I got into an argument with the TV screen while watching a Hockey Game. You peopel who talk to yourself, I'm just saying I'm much worse!

The Conspiracy to Kill J.F.K.
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Transtic Nerve's topic in General Discussion
There's also been a rumor about a second gunman down a ways which could explain the direction that Kennedy was shot. Unfortunately the United State's chance to learn everything surrounding the assasination died when LHO was shot. Heck for all we really know Jackie may have arranged the assasination becuase she was tired of Jack sleeping around with other women. That's my opinion. While we're talking about death theories. Does anyone think that the Kennedy's may have conspired to kill her? I've always wondered about that. -
Just do like I do. (and obviously what any intelligent person would do) Don't trust everything everyone says. Question everyone and everything you hear. Get information from more than one source. And don't take anything at face vaule. As for politicians I really don't trust any of them. They make a livingtrying to get people to do what they want. Even the ones that I vote for I'm still wary of. Yes, I have great trust in our government.
The whole thing is disgusting, and the people who were caught are now blaming others saying that higher officials encouraged their acts to 'break the Iraqi prisoners down'. Most of them are saying that they got orders from interrogation officials or someone of the sort to 'make them ready for questioning', but any sane person would know that the actions they took against the prisoners is inhumane and cruel.
Well, that's great, let's blame our commanding officers. As far as I know no sane thinking commanding officer would advise his or her soldiers to break international laws by abusing POWs to get answers. But it figures that when faced with dishonorable discharge people will try to push the blame off on others. Even if a commanding officer had advised their soldiers to break them in such a manner it would have been the soldier's duty to go up their chain of command and speak with someone above their commanding officer. I'm not sure, but I think that if anyone's commander had asked them to do something questionable they can refuse. I spoke with my husband today and brought this subject up. He said that he'd read about it online. He figures that maybe some of the soldiers were taking their stress out on the POWs which sounds like another cop-out, but you've almost got to wonder what was going through their minds at the time. Being over in a war zone has got to be some sort of stressful thing to go through. I doubt that some people actually think rationably about their actions. I'm not making excuses, I'm just trying to look at it from their perspective

Yes this is a really dumb play on words about a TV show on CBS Called Everybody Loves Raymond. While I may not love the show, I do like it. Hell I've been watching it since the show came out. My favorite episode is the one where Frank, Ray's father, drives a car through the front room. Debra yells and Marie goes. 'Debra watch your tone.' Debra replies, 'My tone? My tone? You just drove a car into my house and you're worried about my tone?' So does anyone else watch this show and want to comment?

What kinds of hidden things do you like to do (legally and not explicit please!) that you really think you might get laughed at for? Do you talk to yourself when your doing mundane tasks? Listen to pop music that you otherwise pretend not to know about? Or maybe you play on teh swings at the playground and then go down the slide and deduct 18 years from your life. Then again, maybe it's just me who does those things. *runs away and hides in her closet* Okay this is what I'll admit to to get the ball rolling: I own a Michelle Branch and an Avril Lavigne CD. I even listen to them! I enjoy singing the meow mix sing in the shower and for the time being I sleep with a stuffed cow with a green t-shirt that says: 'Hugs and Kisses from Ft.Polk' because my husband sprayed it with Lancome Miracle before he gave it to me and that's what he smells like when he's not working. There I admited some strange things. Now you can either laugh at me so I run away or admit that you also do things you indulge in.
I a damn goth. I go around with black clothes and spikes, and that's cute? Now if that word actually got me anywhere, say a girlfriend, then I wouldn't be bothered by it so much but....it's not.
*Pinches Darius Stormu's cheeks* How cute! Coolness is in the eye of the beholder to me. I think with my jeans, shirts and whatever else I'm pretty cool for an old lady. But some people may not think so. My brother thinks he's cool with his obnoxiously loud rap music, Black and milds and clothes that could house the poor, but I think that's just overdone and stupid. Hotpage thinks he's cool with a criminal record. Most of us think that's one of the stupidest things to be proud of. The point is that everybody's perspective is different so no two poeple can actually be considered cool for the same reasons. As for being popular. Popularity only lasts as long as high school so enjoy it while you can.

Well, first I'd invest in one of those notebooks that has commonly misspelled words on them and use that. Then I'd change the word proem to prom you know, remove the e. Maybe even concentrate better in school. Oh, wait, you meant for your relationship. Sorry. Don't try the only friends thing with an ex. One of my ex's went crazy after I decided this and he found out I was seeing his friend-two months after we had broken up. My other ex had this ugly jealous girlfriend who wouldn't leave me the hell alone. She wore a necklace with his name on it and called my house. That was very not fun. I understand that you want to try and work this relationship speedbump out, but she obviously could care less since she's the one who ended the physical part of the relationship. My advice, suck it up and move on becuase you should be concentrating more on your school work and less on another half.

And if you don't like it well, it sucks to be you-Mr.M. (I am not going to attempt to spell his last name) my high school chemistry and biology teacher This was his remark to everything when a kid would complain about an assignment or a grade. Very interesting guy. Someone put a peice of disected pearch in my bookbag (ruined my sketch of SailorNeptune kissing Uranus) once during lab and he wouldn't let anyone leave prior to the actual class. A kid said 'That's not fair' and Mr. M. replied 'sucks to be you.' It's pretty boring over here. The most excitement we have is when the trucks come to clean out the port-a-johns. Even the mortar rounds on the other side of the base are boring because they wake us up for no good reason. I hope they clean out the port-a-johns soon. They smell like ****-Lincoln I wish he'd shut up and be grateful some times. I mean, he's signal, he takes phone calls all day! He could be infantry and try to get his *** shot off on a daily basis. Yes your life is boring, but hey it's supposed to be that way. If it wasn't you'd probably be seriously injured And what can you do miss annoyance?-SailorTin NYanko I think she was talking to Crow when she said this because her and Crow never got along. Partly becuase Nyanko took over after Siren died. School prepares you for the real world which also sucks-Happy Bunny Well, my school sucked and the real world seems to suck so uh. The Bunny is right! It worries me how dumb you are-Happy Bunny It worries me how dumb many people are and some times I want to tell peopel how much it worries me that people are dumb The place we're at is north of the Green Zone and if it sucked any harder, light would not be able to escape its gravitational pull-Lincoln I like the wording of the sentance. I really didn't know a place could suck so bad that light couldn't escape. Immagine that! Friends don't let friends date ugly men-I don't know Friends also shouldn't let friends date ugly women, but that's another story. The point isn't to have your friends stay away from the physically ugly people, it's the spiritually ugly people you should keep your friends away from becuase they're the ones who will seriously mess up your friend and if you let that happen, what kind of friend are you? Also, if you're friends let you date ugly people, they're not your friends either! I have no more right now
I do agree with James, we shouldn't let the actions of a small group of peole to judge the rest of the alliance forces, most of the soldiers over there are just there to do a job, and wouldn't imagine on doing anything like that, most of them are just trying to live. But I think the actions of these soldiers were discusting, and it wasn't just American soldiers, I saw on the news yesterday, that British soldiers were doing the sam,e it was discusting, how can people do this!?, they are mean't to be treated with at least respect, dosn' it break the Treaty of Geneva or somethinh like that? In all, I think the soldiers who commited these grave offfences should all be given dis-honorable discharges, but we must not chastize the others that are doing a brilliant job over there, in extremly difficult circumstances
The coalition soldiers who are not involved in these events most likely don't know anything about these events even that they're happening since news over there is so slow. Example-My husband told me on Wednesday that he heard about that former NFL player who had been killed in Afghanistan last Week. If it's not happening on your area-or for that matter in your Company or on your team (a team consists of five or six soldiers including a team cheif) you don't know about it until a week after the event has taken place. Most soldiers over there are concentrating on surviving their tours of duty so they can get back to their families and their lives outside of the military. THey keep hoping that the most exciting thing in their day is when the truck comes to clean out the port-a-johns. Or when they get a b.b. gun waved in their face by a kid who wants to sell it for $5.00. They don't want to jeopordize their careers or their lives for the sake of being stupid. And yes, as I've mentioned before, this does violate the Geneva Conventions because US and British troops not only tortured POWs but took pictures of them and they've been shown in the news. You're not supposed to do either. So yes most likely they'll go up against a military court and receive a dishonorable discharge on their discharge papers and their actions in Iraq will follow them for the rest of their lives and everytime they try to apply for a job they'll have to put dishonorable discharge on their applications for the reason they're not in the military. But as far as I know everyone else over there (in the red zone where my husband is atleast) is doing their job the way they are supposed to do it and hoping they clean out the port-a-johns on a regular basis

While Ms.Spears is possibly something of a marketing genius, and a pretty good dancer she lacks in musical talent. She doesn't write her own songs, and she doesn't even sing them at her concerts. When she was doing a concert in the UK people walked out on her becuase she was lip-synching. Hell, if that's all it takes to get a contract, sign me up! Don't even get me started on the whole one day marriage. She was drunk and decided to get married. As far as I know in all 50 states you can't legally drive while intoxicated without getting into some kind of trouble and paying some sort of fine. Why the hell should some drunk lady be able to go sign a marriage liscence then sober up and decide it wasn't a good idea and get it annuled when there are plenty of sober people who are willing to make a life long commitment? If she was drunk and famous she should have just gone upstairs and trashed her hotel room like a normal plastered celebratey. I can't knowledgably comment on Ms.Spear's promiscuity except from tabloids which also claim that 'Bat Boy Backs Gore' so I won't go there. I don't think she's a proper role model for young children. I'll conclude with what I've said before, she has no real talent, she's over done and she should just shut up and go back to Louisiana
I just find calling someone a slutt because they are sexual and maybe to an extreme is wrong. If a guy was doing it no one says anything about it.
I had to comment on this. I'd say plenty about a guy sleeping around. He's as much a ***** as any woman who does the same thing. Perhaps even more since society lets him get away with it.
0.o Are you joking? Are what? I feel unloved. Hey, dude! Shinmaru! I'm part Dutch, too!
Of course he's joking. Besides, the sign of the appocolypse is when G.W. BUsh is elected for a second term in office. And when the sky grows dark and rains the blood of a hundred fallen angels, George Walker Bush shall be elected for another term in the office of the president of the united states. The sky will echo with thunder and teh seas shall swallow the earth. I've never discriminated against anyone-except stupid people, but they need to be discriminated against. There are way too many stupid people in this world. As for me, well, it's never been direct. I've been treated badly because of my weight and the fact that I'm a lot more argumentative than a person should be when they're not popular. So getting snubbed is somewhat ritualistic for me. It's necessary to remember that the constitution was written before there was a regulated militiary. (As far as I know) The government thought it necessary for the population to defend themselves against any invaders. Also taken into consiseration is that some members of the fledgling nation were moving out into the fronteirs where they felt they needed protection from the Native Americans and wild animals. This is why the government in 1789 decided that the right to bear arms was 2nd only to the freedom of speech. Guns aren't much of a necessity. People just start thinking they are and now in today's society everyone and their estranged mother-in-law suddenly has the urge for firepower. That's why there are so many accidental shootings. DeathBug, you keep mentioning over and over about how dangerous vehicles are and yet nobody's trying to ban them. Most people don't try to go out on a killing spree in their Vehicle. You get yourself a gun for protection, okay fine. But then say you hear a noise in the house and you take your gun to investigate...and as you walk down the stairs you begin to get nervous. Your nervousness increases as you approach the origin of the noise. You hear the noise again then you panick and shoot the gun. Worst case scenerio, you've just shot your kid in the chest. Do you still think that having a gun is as important as freedom of religion or in this case-an affordable health care plan? As Godel pointed out a leniant gun law doesn't just affect the country it's hurting, it affects countries boardering on the country it's based in. Actions in one area don't just affect that area, they affect the areas around it. And as for Texas-the entire state is screwed up. Their lemon law only applies to new cars, you can't legally make k-turns and they try to run antique shop owners out of small towns because the lady is wiccan. So Texas has guns. So do New Yorkers, so do Pennsylvanians. Maybe because the Texans are less responsible with their guns is the reason why so many people remember them?
