Maybe it has something to do with the fact it happens on school property. According to the law, schools and military have different set of rules than public grounds.
The military's rules on religion are if it's in the military chaplin's handbook, it's a recognized religion and should be allowed to be practiced. However, there are always prayers done during military functions. (I could tell you a great story about the last 'Holiday' party I went to with Lincoln) Including the Signal Ball where we said the Pledge, the National Anthem and a small prayer. I'm sorry, but I hadn't actually done the Pledge of Alligiance since 9th grade. However I guess you also have to do this before a movie on post. The prayer was a bit intrusive though. It's like reguardless of the handbook, any religion other than Christianity isn't acknowledged. The military has strange ways of showing support for practicioners of other religions. My husband has had his car photographed by his first seargeant and told he needs Jesus. So yeah, the military definately has different rules.

Yes, this is definately a strange topic for someone like me, but I'm curious about people's veiws on this subject. I don't really know how to go about starting this except to do this: In many public schools in my area children gather around a flag pole in teh morning before school to pray. This may help some of these students get through their school days. However, as we've been saying in another post there seems to be a lack of separation between church and state. But, what if along with Christian students being aloud to pray in school, Pagan students were aloud time for meditaion and so on. Would that help make matters better or worse? What is your opinion on this matter? As for me, I feel that as long as these students don't try to enforce their veiws on the rest of the school's population and their Bible studies don't interupt school funtions. Along these lines. Other students could practice in tehir beliefs as long as they don't disrupt class doing so. I know, I'm an idealist, so shoot me May the Lord and Lady bless you- Chibi Horsewoman

The Seperation of Church and State
ChibiHorsewoman replied to PrincessGoneral's topic in General Discussion
So, sorry. But to answer your question, Jesus commands Christians in the Book of Matthew to preach the Gospel.
You know how I can get Justin since you've gotten into a debate with me once, so I'm just reminding you. Yes, in Matthew it does say to preach the good news to those who do not know Jesus. But as my mom says; Jesus didn't go around saying, Hey, you HAVE to listen to me! I'm right you're wrong! He and His apostles preached to people, but I doubt they tried to shove their beliefs down the good people's throats. Jesus was probably smart enough not to intrude if someone didn't want to listen and didn't pester.
He also teaches us that no man can enter Heaven, but by Him. This would indicate that all other religions are in fact wrong, according to my beliefs. And since I'm commanded to share my beliefs, I'm afraid there's nothing I can do to help you.
I don't beleive that any of us will know which religion is right or wrong until we die and those we believed in tell us what we did was right or wrong. After all. doesn't your Bible say: Judge not lest ye be judged? Besides for all you know, maybe your religion is wrong and mine is right-after all, mine did come first. :) According to my beleifs, I'm supposed to allow you to speak your peice and be respectful of your beliefs since I expect that of you. I'm not commanded to share my beliefs since secrecy is how we usually survive, however, if someone has a question , I feel that they can have an answer. If you don't believe the way I do, all I can hope for is acceptance
Once again, for those who read my posts, it's never my intention to force Christianity upon anyone. It's got to be a personal choice between you and God. But that does not mean that I can stop speaking the truth. If you don't like to hear it, skip over my posts when you see my name; you won't hurt my feelings any. But I'm not going to stop. God bless y'all. -Justin
I understand that it isn't your intention to force Christianity upon anyone, but when you quote the Bible, it does come off that way. I want to hear what Justin thinks, not what Justin's Good Book thinks. As for speaking the truth, like I said before, how do you know that your religion is the truth? I've read the Bible before, I managed to speak at a few youth groups meetings and my high school's religion club (catholic school) by quoting the Bible. My husband has also read the Bible, and even went as far as being a youth minister in a Baptist Church. However, this religion didn't really seem to hold much for us since neither one of us follow it. So maybe it's not the truth to everyone and if that's teh case I'm going to start quoting Bucky's Blue Book on here. May the Lord and Lady bless you -Chibi Horsewoman -
This question has probably been going on since Speed Racer. Anyway I think it all depends on the quality of the dub which determines my vote. There are good dubs and bad dubs. Take Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and Trigun for eaxample-atleast for my example. I've had the opportunity to see both the dub and sub version of these anime and noticed that it was translated pretty much to the letter. Except for Duo's references to being Shinigami-God of Death. I liked Duo's dub voice better than his Japanese voice, but I think Hiiro's fits better in the original. But still these anime didn't lose anything through translation However those are examples of good dubs. An example of a bad dub is hands down Sailor Moon. Dic Completely chopped it up. Changed the names of all of the characters. Messed up attacks, cut scenes and removed the puns and some of the tradition. Plus the voices scared me. One of the worst things DiC did for the series was messing with Rei and Usagi's relationship and turning it into Raye and Serena's relationship. They turned Reiinto a nasty person who hates Usagi/Serena. A good example of this is episode #43 (#38 over here) where Rei/Raye holds up the Crescent Moon stick. The original dialog goes like this: Jupiter:You really do hate her, don't you? Mars: If I hated her so much, would I agree to protect this for her? *holds out Crescent Moon Wand* Jupiter: I'm sorry Then Mars jumps out of the bushes first I can't remember the whole dialog from the Dub, but I think Mars' explaination was that Serena had left it there by accident. CWi didn't do too much better when they decided to change Michiru's line about how the first people to kiss were Adam and eve to Michelle's Line about Micheal. My advice is to get DVD's where you can choose whether the subtitles, but sometioems I get sidetracked. Besides, most DVDs have a menu page where you can choose English or Japanese. I hope this helped
I would make (and already have made) one about my version of the second generation of sailor scouts. :)
 Wah, it's Senshi! :flaming: As for me well... I started writing this badly drawn manga/comic about this girl who wakes up one morning to find that she can levitate things or set them on fire. She gets to school and finds out that her two close friends have also had strange findings that same morning involving water and elctricity respectfully. Later on there's a strange guy, some villains and a princess, but I can't really figure out how to get the whole thing off the ground. As anyone can tell, I'm kind of still in love with shojo-esq ideas focusing on super powers and stuff. Maybe some day I'll grow up. *shrug* Another idea I could probably use is a short story I'm working on where a 21st century girl meets up with her 18th century counterpart. OF course, that story is on my computer down in Texas so I don't remember how the whole thing went. But the characters have fun with everything from indoor plumbing to a trip to the laundrymat. Yeah, I thought this idea up at the coin-op while I did my laundry in Texas :) Well, there are two ideas I have. I doubt they'd really get off the ground, but hey... I just have one more thing to say: I wish I had thought this up.

Where would I like to live in Anime world? ooh boy, This is a toughie. Of course, my first one would be the shoujo based magic world of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. For some straneg reason it's always appealed to me to be able to talk to my cat and have her talk back. Of course, I'm strange as well, so maybe that would be part of it. Another reason is I want to get some kind of cool powers, fight bad guys and wear a cute school uniform. By cute, I mean Hino rei's School uniform, not the Juuban chotto gokko uniform, it's too not me. Unfortunately, I'd probably smack ChibiUsa around too many times, hit on Haruka toomuch for Michiru's liking-even tho she's a she and I know that, and smack Mamoru kun upside the head intentionally with my shoe more than necessary for the senshi and get myself kicked out of the alternate universe. Even so, I'd still want to keep the talking cat! Second would be InuYasha, for the strangest reason anyone could have. I want to steal InuYasha's ramen and give it to Sesshomaru. I also have a strange urge to switch his (IY's) haori with a ballet costume and out Fluffy in a bunny suit. Ah well, only in fanfiction I guess. If I could get transfered to manga, (and we can do that too right?) I'd want to be in Peach Girl world. I don't know why-I don't have too many plans on this one except maybe taking Momo to a motivational speaker and get Sae some psycho therapy. I still think the best part of Peach Girl world would be Nurse Misao and seeing her hit Kiley in the first few books. I guess I'm not too imanginative for this one. It's a good thing I had such stuff for Sailor Moon I guess.

I live in Western NY. After 9/11 went down, there were people around here who thought that we may get the next attack,if infact there was one. Infact, during the black out in August there were a few people (my mom told me this) who were convinced it was another terrorist attack. I guess you could always try to go with the theory that only the paranoid survive, but what fun is that? Nobody really enjoys themselves much when they feel the constant urge to look over their shoulders, plus it makes your neck hurt. That fact alone should make you stop after a bit. However, I don't really know what to say to allieviate such fears since atacks in my neck of the woods are quite rare and you have a better chance of being slashed at TinsleTown by some nut job than a plane crash. But, take my two cents as you will. Merry Part

The Seperation of Church and State
ChibiHorsewoman replied to PrincessGoneral's topic in General Discussion
Okay people, vocabulary lesson and then we can try and get back on topic. Atheism Dissbelief in or denial of the existance of God. From the Greek Atheos meaning Without a god. Agnostic-One who believes that there can be no proof of God, but does not deny that God exists. Thank you American Heritage Dictionary. As for the whole idea of Christians taking over the government and a complete breakdown of the separation of church and state. I strongly hope that this will never happen. This country is too diverse with too many religions-despite what current leaders may choose to believe. Even in the Christian community there are too many divisions of belief to completely have a government immersed in such a belief system. The only example of this I can give is the fact that everyone has the right of free will to think for themselves and determine what is right. This fact everyone has proven atleast five or six times during the course of this topic. I think that the separation of church and state has been getting a bit frayed these past four years in my opinion and from my point of veiw, it's a bit scary. Especially since I have no true desire to be governed by a country who's soul purpose is to safeguard and idealistic religious belief system. Sure, it may work out well for a few years, but sooner or later there will be too many extra interprtations of the Bible (just like now-Sodom and Gamorra anyone?) and the whole nation will be sent into turmoil because some Fundamentalist tried to pass an ammendment forbidding women to wear pants, shorts, or skirts that didn't cover their ankles. Yes, the preamble of the constitution (I could be wrong, I've been out of high school for about five years )states that We the people are endowed with inallienable rights bestowed by our creator, but nobody ever specified who the creator was. Yes, 18th century inhabitants would say God, but still it's open to interpretation. Just liek New York State's definition of marriage. I'll stop here, I think I may have repeated myself and most of my brain power is being focused on having a baby. -Merry Part -
The Seperation of Church and State
ChibiHorsewoman replied to PrincessGoneral's topic in General Discussion
first the obvious I think that we should leave the Bush bashing to the Kerry campaign and start on the real subject which is the whole deal with Jeb Bush, Florida, and the separation of church and state. I really don't care if a state decided to have a Christian only jail and try to reform people by prayer. Go right ahead since it so obviously worked for Jeffery Dommer and Tim McVay. Yes, some people do turn their lives around by finding religion-of course that religion could be anything from Satanism to Druidism to Islam to Christianity. The basis of the religion doesn't automatically make the follower a good person, what makes a good person is how the individual leads his or her life. As for this idea of instating a 'faith based coordinator' in every department. I feel that goes a bit too far. Especially when you try to involve yourself in the lives of families. The very idea of a person suggesting that a government with one of the largest deficites in US history should spend ten million on prayer based marraige counselling is laughable and disturbing at the same time. May Kali help the poor person who tries to suggest my husband and I go through some sort of prayer based marraige counselling if it ever came to NEw York As you can tell, this wouldn't help me because I'm not Christian. Actually on this same note, I don't see how prayer base counselling will help since if you're praying for an answer, that answer could actually be a divorce. Then the religious involvement in child care programs. I have no problem if the child care program has already been advertised as Christian or is located in a church since that is to be expected. However, as a Wiccan and a soon to be parent, I don't want my child to go to a child care facility and end up thinking that mommy and daddy are going to hell for not believing in Jesus. However, I have no problems with my child learning about aspects of other religions. Everyone benifits from learning from different belief systems. Reading the beginning of this post I'm beginning to wonder why the people of Florida haven't following in the footsteps of the people of California and recaled Governor Bush. Of course, with that in mind we shoudl remember that Florida is in the South, the South is the Bible Belt so I'd conclude that many people are Christians in Florida. As for faith based funding, I find that morally disturbing. Why should a state's or for that matter a company or government should only get funding based on the origin of there religion? Oh, and finally, before someone decides to claim otherwise,I would have a problem with the policies of the president or the governor of Florida reguardless of surname or political party. -
Sailor Chibi Moon from Sailor Moon scares me (she haunts my room!). . --.-- ~Blessed be~
I don't blame you, of course, she's not as frightening as Sailor Mini MOon! I'm afraid of some really strange things so go ahead adn laugh at most of them. I'm also afraid of some serious things, so don't laugh at those. 1.The hole for the sump pump in my parent's basement- it's only a foot deep, but I've stayed away from it since I was a kid, I can't even look at it! :wigout: 2. That something bad is going to happen to Lincoln over in Kuwait or Iraq. small things like him losing an appendage don't freak me out. I'm afraid he'll get something that'l will mess up his mind and he won't be anything near what he was before or even worse he'll get killed by an RPG or something and our child will never know its dad. 3. That I'm actually doing something wrong during my pregnancy. Should I have stopped riding earlier? Should I have not had that little chocolate egg? I kee[p thinking I'm doing something bad. 4. Snakes. But the straneg thing is, only when they sneak up in the wild. I can watch them in the zoo along with other creepy bugs and I have no problem holding them. I just don't like being snuck up on by snakes. 5. Failure. I keep thinking I'l mess up and it freaks me out. 6. Cockroaches. I don't know why, since I've only seen one. Well, there, now you know things about me that scare me. I'm waiting for my rubber snake

Anime Wow... they're just like me!: Characters you identify with
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Balinese's topic in Otaku Central
I gues I have a few characters from anime that I can relate to. I'm far too out there to be like like just one. Infact some of them aren't even human! For humor's sake, I'm going to say that I can most closely relate to Buyo from InuYasha. you know ,that over weight cat of Kagome's who got fed a mummyfied water sprite hand? Yeah that one! Why? Well, we both like to sleep, we both like to lay around, and people in out lives try to feed us strange things. I guess I can also relate with Kino Makoto from Sailor Moon with the whole cooking thing and the bad temper. Oh and maybe the boy obsession. Of course with a few exceptions. I don't try to throw people over my head, I don't want to throw out my back or anything. I don't cook that well. Oh and I never had one particular guy I was looking for who reminded me of my sempai. Oh yeah , Kore Neko from Trigun because I keep popping up in strange places! If we can do non anime I'd have to say Daria. Because I went out with my bestfriend's boyfriend, I'm smart and a bit of a loner as well as bitingly sarcastic at times. -
Once again: ahem. Chibi, your character looks very cool, though somewhat disproportioned. I see you played an urban RPG. I don't know whether to laugh and call you a wuss or ask what kind of magical items you used. >_>

What would you do if you were president?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Realistically Demand a recount since I think the plumber won the election (Mooseport reference) and cower in the oval office until they decided to elect the plumber. idealistically Send all the racists, bigots, homophobes and religious extremists to one large island off the coast of Alaska-far off the coast of Alaska and ionfect it with radioactive cockroaches. reconstruct the healthcare systems run by the government. Don't ask me how because I have no idea. Take up golf or some other boring sport because that's what all president's do. Place an ammendment in the constitution that allows same sex marriages. If that fails try legalizing common-law marriages since you can't really please everyone. Stop being the damn global police! We really don't need to be in Iraq, Afghanistan and Haiti! at the same time no less. Choke on a pretzel or hit someone with a golf ball during a game. Yes, it really acomplishes nothing, but hey. Hope and pray and then demand that I don't screw up because that's what I'm worried about most. Reconstruct the education system-maybe even start doing entrance exams since test scores are so low these days. No new tests, get rid of some of the old tests and have children start learning a second language in second grade instead of sixth. I've now run out of things to do, please don't elect me. -
One of my friends thought it was weird that I would try to role play-same woman who thought her husband would out grow it when he was still playing at 23. As for my character-I forgot her species except that she was a nasty vampire and very sarcastic. She had high scores in charm and intelligence and worked at a hospital so she didn't have to go drain people. I should also take this opportunity to say she was a bit of a player and other stuff oh, and a bad driver. I had her crash a guy's car in one of our campaigns-come to think of it, it was the same guy who tried to tell me where to sit in my own house. Of course, I also had to save said vampire's undead hiney so he had no right to complain-damn trimmeir. Oh, here's my drawing of my character. I was the only one who actually drew their character instead of using a computer program like the guys. I did it while looking at a cover of a CD.
Both of my parents and two of my uncles are in the military, and they all believe that the conflict in Iraq is a good cause. My father has been deployed twice to orcehstrate telecommunication for Iraq. He believes it is a good cause, and is prepared to die for it. so are the vast majority (read: all but three) of the officers I've come into contact with support the effort in Iraq, and I have no doubt that they would be willing to die for that cause.
My father, my grandfather and a few of my uncles as well as a few of my friend's husband's have been deployed over seas. My father was in Nam, and my grandfather (the one living) was in the south pacific in WW2. neither of them feel that this war is necessary. Nor does my husband who's over there with his unit right now. I doubt many people actually die willingly as you put it. Most die because they were willing to take the risk and not go AWOL. I think this idea varies sligtly from becoming a willing martyr
Do I enjoy the idea of my father or the people he works with dying? No. However, he believes in the cause, and I believe in him. How dare you tell me[/i'] what will do me good, or how I should feel about the war.
Where and when did I tell you how to feel about this conflict? I don't recall saying that. I said I don't feel that this is a necessity, I never said that everyone should feel the way I do. I was upset that Boba had decided to say that people should be supportive of this war. I support the soldiers, I don't support this war, final answer. I was upset becuase some people seem to think everyone dying is a good thing. Get that straight.
If you don't believe the war is neccessary, that's fine, and that's your business. But don't assume that everyone else feels the same way.
I never told you how to feel did I? No, you assumed I did. BTW, when you assume, you make an *** out of u and me. Don't out words in my mouth
This war is neccessary, and my father has risked his life several times for the effort. Like I said before, he believes in it, and I believe in him. And that's enough for me.
Fine, think that. Tell the families who've lost their loved one's that this is a necessary war and they should be proud to know that. My father risked his life in Vietnam, my paternal grandfather was at Pearl Harbor when they bombed it. My maternal grandfather was in the South Pacific. One of my uncles was a Marine in nam and won't even talk about it. My husband is a 31-Fox A Co 13th Sig BTN 1st Cav out of FT.HOod Texas and the only reason he went is because it was his duty as a soldier not because he believe this si right. He has too much pride to run away from it. The same as my dad had too much pride to try and become a conciencious objector like his mom wanted during the Vietnam conflict. Yes, my husband is risking his life, and I'm proud of him for doing that, but I'm not going to be happy about it, or think he died for a good cause if something happens to him.
I tried; they turned me away because I was asmathic.
You do know that they sometimes give people exemptions from PT is their scores are high enough right? You also know that you could get an MOS that doesn't involve going out and running around? Oh, and my friend's husbnand's Commanding Officer got out of going to Iraq because he was allergicv to sand. I think they could figure something out. But hey, atleast you tried. Oh, since this had nothing to do with the topic, may I request that you reply to this via private message or Email me? Thank you

You really want to know? I got to work lat ebecause my cat is a bit of a klepto and stole my car keys. I had my manager constantly remind me that my drawer was short on Friday-I told her that it was probably due to the fact nobody bothered to send the orders back for a while and then they got all messed up. Then Tommee-this guy I was friends with decided to go uber prima donna on me it started like this: K (girl I can't think of her name)-'Your hair is so long." T-That's 'cause it grows fast, I don't have the money for a hair cut K-It's only $10, M (me)-Yeah, how can you not have $10 for a haircut? T-(nasty) Well, not everybody has a rich mommy and daddy who can give them whatever they want. M-Yeah, that's right, I get whatever I want, That's why I work at McDonald's! We started yelling at eachother for a bit and I told him he shouldn't talk about things he doesn't know anything about. He told me to shut the F up and I told him to make me. I went home at 2 like I was schedualed and began watching some Sailor Moon R (subbed!) around 3:30 T called again and told me to pick up my f' vidoes or he was going to burn them. Now yes, I'm married, but those are my husband's things Of course I'm still pissed so I told him I was busy I had a Dr appt and could I pick them up later this week? He's all f no then hangs up. I called him back and asked him if he thought he was being a bit rude and he's like just get them and hangs up. Go over there to get the movies. T drags the box out of the closet and doesn't bother to say they're there or anything, so I'm like I'm in a hurry, where are my videos and why are you suddenly being this way (I was at a party at his place friday) Dude yells at me to get out of his f'ing house or he's calling the cops I with my hot temper say screw rule of three I hope something bad (and I'm thinking lose your job, or maybe his boyfriend would break up with him since I'm not that petty) happens to you. He says-I hope you miscarry that baby. It took all my strength not to yell derogatory names at the drama queen extrodinare and beat him up. I manage to drive the three miles to my aunt's house after that and cried a bit. I mean I'm going through all the fun of having my husband in Iraq I am not about to be someone's punching bag just because some dramatic drag queen decides to have a bad day. So, there, I feel a bit better now having blabbed, and Crim, I hope you feel better and don't lose your spleen
Soldiers who are dying in Iraq are dying for a good cause. They?re making a valuable contribution to the war on terror and preventing Iraq from degenerating into chaos. It?s a sad thing to lose soldiers in any conflict, but this is a necessary battle for the United States to fight. I was going to comment on a buinch of other stuff from your first post, but after reading this, I find my comments would be better suited here. HOW DARE YOU come here and say that soldiers who are dying over in Iraq are dying for a good cause? Hell of a lot of good that does their families knowing that. Yes, I always feel that dying for some man's ideals is a good cause and I'd love to know that my husband- Lord and LAdy forbid- died because we felt a sudden urge to police a country that didn't want us there in the first place. As for being a necessary battle- tell you what,go and talk to some families who have lost loved ones recently during this war. Better yet, keep telling me this war is necessary. I'll find a really good way to laugh in your face. So far the only good thing coming out of my husband's deployment is the fact we'll be able to pay off our bills and save for a house and some new furniture, now that's necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Okay, now let's get to my reply to the topic of things I hate; People who think this war is a good thing- I think I've already demonstrated that I dislike these kinds of people. Here's my question to everyone who is so for this war on Iraq-why aren't you at the recuiting office trying to join up? Two faced people- You know the type. People who say one thing and mean another. I work with a guy like that-infact he was my friend until today when he decided it was a bad thing for my parents to have helped me out when I had finacial trouble then told me he hoped I would misscarry. homophobes, bigots, racists, and extremists these people should all be placed on a desert island. After this the island should be contaminated with radioactive cockroaches and moldy cheese. Perhaps they should also receive shock therapy. People who think everyone but them is incompetent-I'm not sure how to ellaborate on this one except that everyone makes mistakes that doesn't mean they suddenly have to rent out their heads. Those who think their beliefs are the only right ones-Yes, I know I went off on Boba up there, but it was an opinion that I feel strongly about. I don't think it's the only right one. That's all it was an opinion, one I won't appologize for later. Of course, there are people who think their way is teh only right way. There was this other anime message board I was on for a while where the peopel were all christian (in no way am I bashing Christianity-some of my closest friends (okay all but my husband) are christians of some sort) They were appalled that I had watched Utena and saw no problem with homosexuality. Yes, sometimes there is a right way to do things like say-the best way to wash dishes is to use soap, water and a sponge( when a dishwasher isn't availble, but there is no such thing as a right way to think (except maybe the whole killing thing) Well, there, a rant and a bit of insight, what more could you want?

Unrealisticall, but idealistically: Tell everyone that she stuffs her bra and sleeps around with everyone. Oh, and you were going to break up with her at prom so you're glad she saved you all the aggrivation. You could even throw in a few good STDs for good measure you think you might have gotten from her. Realisticaly Realize that she really wasn't the right person for you since you deserve someone who will be honest with you even when the relationship is over. Know that soon this guy may see through her-of course, don't help because you'll come off as a jaded and jealous ex-boyfriend. As for the whole question about being dumped-once, in first grade by the boy I sat next to on the bus. It was bad, but I got over it by recess. I was usually the dumper since I could sometimes tell that the guy was about to issue walking papers. I broke up with one of my ex's over the phone by telling him that his breath was like Altoids in reverse, I was looking to lose some weight and was going to start with him, and my dog was feeling neglected so I had to spend time with her. To make it worse I did it on speaker phone so my friends could listen. I wasn't being completely wrong tho, he was cheating on me.
You know, Xander, I have a hypothosis of my own as to why so few girls are addicted to RPing. It's because so many of us are air-headed, boy-crazy, bra-snapping cheerleaders who think about nothing aside from how to catch some one looking at their ***. You can't call me sexist: I am a girl, and I must say, I find myself frequently appalled by how some (young, especially) women allow themselves to be treated like objects. ... Oh, sorry about that, my world-weary, cynical(-er than usual) side just took over for a moment. That happens every so often... .^^"
Well, I can honestly say that I'm not one of those girls  I'm witty, intelligent and I crack dirty jokes when the mood hits. Of course, I did attend school with some of those girls and gave myself a migrain grr! :flaming: My RPG experiance was with my husband and a few people he knew at our apartment in Texas. I enjoyed it mostly because the guys weren't overly serious and I got to have an attitude problem I haven't done any other gaming since then because I'm too busy and I really can't picture myself doing another one anytime soon. The best part of the game well-there were a few cool parts. I got to kill off my sire (we played Masqurade), toss around insults and go off on a guy both in and out of character because this guy tried to tell me where to sit in my own house. As if. Worst well, the same guy I went off on was a bit of a slob, we ended having to make him carry around a trash bag when he came in or he wouldn't get his experiance points. He also tried to have some sort of super character so Lincoln (who was the Game Directer guy) ended up making all this crap happen to him like getting attacked and beaten by a goul and losing all his charm points. That was actually fun in a way. Oh, but as happens in Military land, everyone started getting ready to deploy so bye bye people. We had two peope not show up once and I ended up falling asleep on the couch from listeningto German Death metal while the other three guys did some mission thing. That was probably best and worst-along with people showing up too early so Lincoln and I couldn't spend time alone when he got home from work.:flaming: I kind of wish I knew of a group of people who wanted to do an RPG, but I don't think I'm serious enough to go over to Millenium on Jefferson Rd and try to play since 1 some of the guys might knock themselves over and two once I started I'd stil act silly. Oh and the pregnancy thing-well, maybe I could do something with that. I definately agree with sensei and Xander, more girls should Role Play it's a great stress relief
I never understood role playing games.... and then after meeting the dorks at cons who play RPGs, I'm glad I don't.
Okay, first off, I'm not a dork. I'm some poor woman who married a guy who likes to play pretend with his friends. I'm also a bit of a freak and so is my husband. As for understanding RPGs-I don't really understand it either. I think I have a better chance of understanding Rocket Propelled Grenades than I do Role Playing Games. Also, if you go to game cons, I have to conceed that you're as dorky as everyone else. Okay, that's cleared up now for the real post: My friend and I made up our own pen and paper game and played it during biology in high school. At least I think that's what it was since we wrote out a story for our characters. If I'm wrong, then I've never actually done this type of RPG you speak of. If I got that definition right let me know. If I got it wrong then uh is pen and paper RPG the same as when you roll dice and act out some of the stuff? Because if that's the case, I've played Vampire the Masquerade once and if you want, I can show you my character

What do you do when you're at home sick?

Let's see, few years back I was home with the flu for a week, so I really sympathize. as for what I did well: first I marathoned anime, then movies, then tapes of shows I had taped when I was out. Then I tried to do the New York Times Crossword Puzzle. Let me tell you, if you want to cure boardum and then pass out, Do the NYT x-Word. Then you can do the word finder, the word jumble and the x-word in your local paper. You can try drawing I think I ended up with the beginnings of a manga by the time I was done with the flu. and if you can't draw, you can try writing. You can write letters to the editor, fanfiction, your own stories, you can do those thank you cards from Christmas. I don't know what else to try, maybe reading. That was good too. -
Hey guys, I know this is really dumb, but this just sorta sparked in my mind. Remember The Blair Witch Project ? Did this movie (or movie(s) if you include the just as lame sequel) have ANY connection to actual witches or wicca? I doubt it, but just a thought. I know NOTHING about wicca etc, but just the fact that its in a forest, forests are nature, wicca is based on nature (maybe I do no a little bit :p ) so maybe it was loosely based on actual facts or something. But man, were those ridiculous movies
Yes, I remeber Blair Witch and I though it was really stupid, also the footage made me nauseas. How any person could actually find something like that scary is beyond me. As for the connection it may have with Wicca or Witchcraft in general, I don't see it. Yes, it was set in the woods, but so are some other movies. The way I see it is that the word Witch in the movies was being used in the way stereotypical witch is supposed to act. Scare people, eat people, that sort of thing. It was more of a hollywood witch than an actual witch. So in my opinion it has nothing to do with my religion Whoa look I think I ranted. Okay, next! ____________________________________________________________________
Uhhhhh......I think you are a little confused there. See Catholics are a sub-group OF christianity. To be a christian is to blelieve that Jesus was the son of God. I know this because I was a Catholic for oh.....say 17 years. I sorta stopped believing in it. heh. Anyway You might mean a difference between catholics and protastants or methodists and such. All these I listed (and there are more) are sub-groups of christianity.
Actually, you're BOTH right. For some reason some Christian sects actually look down on the Catholic religion becaus etehy think it's a bit liberal-I think it's the saints thing. Of course, I already said my part in my reply prior to this, I just thought you may want to know that there are two ways to look at this religion. ____________________________________________________________________ As for religions borrowing from religions there seems to be a lot of that going around-especially with the Christians (I'm not picking on anyone, I'm just pointing out a simple fact that I will undoubtedly need a flak vest and a kevlar for later.) an obvious example of this fact is Yule/Christmas-unless you're of the EasternOthodox Christian tradition which celebrates Christmas in the spring-. The basic story of that is that Early Christians pushed the date back siocne nobody really knows the time when Christ was born and tells the people that they're worshipping too early and they have the wrong guy. Another example is the If you can't beat 'em join 'em idea. When the early Christians came to Ireland to convert The Celts they had this goddess named Brigid and weren't willing to give her up so instead these priests made her into a Saint and said she nursed the Infant Jesus. Interesting huh?

I played the part of a scientist and a townsperson in Inherit the Wind. I got to stand up and gasp. I also wanted to punch the girl who played Mrs.Brady the first two nights which has nothing to do with this post. I was also in the chorus in Once Upon a Matress. My high school's dram club and musical groups were rather political so even if I was a good actress I never got further than chorus. One of my cousins got a pretty cool part in Fiddler on the Roof. He got to play the Rabbi. One of the villagers came up to him and said "rabbi, I want you to bless my sewing Machine and he said 'Www dot singer dot com. I think I'd like to take this opportunity to ask, what is your faviorite musical? I'll come back with mine later.
There are tons of movies that have to do with witch hunts... I don't know if they have to do with "burning times" as you put it, but many have the same story structure as you're suggesting here.
The burning times refere to the time between 1484 when Pope Innocent VIII wrote his Papal Bull (I'd like to add a four letter word onto that) quickly followed by the Malleus Malleficarum or Witches Hammer by Heinrich Kramer and Jakob Sprenger two German Monks in 1486 and lasted until the late 1700's with the last excecution happening in Poland in 1793. Interestingly enough, I think a movie truely based on this would be more violent than The Passion since so many people were totured and klilled. But enough about that, it's history. History we should learn from, but still history. _________________________________________________________________________
I wonder if anyone could explain the differences between Catholics and Christians. I know they stemmed from the same religion, but after that the definition gets fuzzy. I've asked several friends who belong to one or the other, but they had difficulty telling me how they differed. Icewolfeyes
I was raised Catholic, I know that supposedly there are differences between the two, but I've never quite understood how since I always thought that being Catholic was the same as being Christian since it was from the same belief system of Father, Son, Holy Ghost. I mean, sure there are churches where singing, dancing and even playing musical instrumens during church are discouraged. I went to an Easter Service at The Church Of Christ while in Texas, it was the most depressing Easter Service I had ever been to. They played-or more accurately-sang these really depressing songs and here I was thinking they would be joyful for the rebirth of their savior. Needless to say I never went back. But they don't differ in their beliefs. I've also asked people what the difference is and nobody seems to be able to give a strait answer-well almost anyone: I went to go pick my husband up from work one day since his car was in the shop and somehow managed to get into a religious discussion with some guy. He actually told me that Catholics aren't Christians since they also believe in the Saints and sometimes call on them for help-he compared that to being a pagan. Of course he then took that to mean that Catholics are Idolators who actually worship the Devil and not God. Unfortunately Lincoln came out from final formation by then, so I didn't get to laugh in his face like I wanted to. Well, there's my answer to that question, let's hope someone can give more insight than what I did. _______________________________________________________________________
