Ganging up on one person bites.
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Farto the Magic's topic in General Discussion
I've noticed that most of the people who bully are either the popular people who really think they're better than everyone else, or the ones who think they can get away with it.Some of them probably have a bad family life, or they're encouraged to be agressive no matter what the cost. One of the sad things is in many schools the victim is further brutalized by the faculty as though being the target is their fault. My advice, first try ignoring the person however, if the threats become physical (I once had a girl ask the gym teacher if she could drown me then follow me into the bathroom with a few of her friends and threaten me. OF course when I went to my principal the dude auitomatically decided that since I was in special ed (because the school district can't figure out how to place a person in mainstream in a week) I was the one to blame. The best way to beat the beyotch tho is to become one yourself-or to avoid the situation once and for all. So I had to go to my guidance conselor switch classes and start hoping she'd never see me in the halls. Of course I was really nasty senior year and decided that she tuffed her bra and wrote some mean things about her in the senior longe. She told people I was a lesbian-I still don't understand how that's an insult unless you're a shallow brained individual-which she was. Another solution is to just tell the person that it's not worth your breath to respond, if they don't leave you alone, stick with your friends at all times and then wait til your ten year reunion where you can atleast prove that you did better than anyone thought you would. This is mostly due to the fact that revenge is a dish best served ice cold and when nobody expects it. Oh, and by the way, words do hurt as CS mentioned. -
Well folks, I survived Basic Training. I'm ready to start my Advanced Training at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas. Since I have the experience now, and I opened this idea before I left, does anyone have any questions about the experience?
Way to go! Of course, I'm an Army wife, albeit with a retired Air Froce father, but. Hey, you survived Chair Force Basic Training! Just Kidding! Well, I know enough about army basic with the Drill Segeants yelling in your face every ten seconds. So what I want to know is if you have any good stories? When my dad was going thru basic at Lackland down by San Antonio they had to cancel PT a few times because it got too hot in the morning, did that happen to you? Did you steal another team's flag from their tent? Or did some guy decide to wax the floor and you and your battle buddy ended up going to chow in the same BDU shirt then your DS decided you should be called the wonder twins? Those are the things I want to know. I know that while in basic my husband was excited about getting to throw grenades and stuff, what was your favorite part of basic? I know that's some sort of oxymoron, but hey, it's still a good question. Also, I'm curious, what is your MOS and what did you get on your test? (I forgot the name of it, but I know my husband got a 128 which is pretty good) Okay, those are my questions, and you'd better have done soemthing funny. On a final note, when they give you a chance to chose your next duty station after your over seas tour try to get stationed at Ft. NEllis AFB since it's right off the Las Vegas strip or Lackland AFB outside of San Antonio because if you have to live at a military post, you may as well ive near a large city. And that's speaking from personal experiance. Well, congratulations and way to go, now all you have to do is go thru AIT where you learn your MOS and then (unless your a reservist) you get to go over seas. I hope you make it thru your enlistment and make a good life for yourself! Best Wishes, Chibi Horsewoman after thought: As for joining the MArines, if you really want togo for it, but it's one of the most gruelling basic training corses in the military. Of course, on teh plus side, the Marines and the AF treat their families pretty well if you happen to get married while you're still enlisted that should be a good thing to consider. But hey you want the USMC-more power to ya, just be prepared to sweat it out! Oh and recuiters don't really understand no, they understand yes sir/ma'am and what exactly does that MOS really involve.

Whew, that was a scary thought, Stuck on an island with Jaken! *shudder* As for other anime/Manga characters I wouldn't relish being stuck on a desert with are: Happosai from Ranma 1/2-For about the same reasons I don't want him as a roommate. He'd probably scare any rescue ship that would come along ChibiUsa/ChibiMoon from BSSM-The only bright side of this that I can see is that I could kill her and make a raft from her remains, or make her explode and hopefully attract a rescue ship. Hopefully that would happen soon because if not I'd be an accessory to my own murder Anyone with a large appitite or a bishi obsession They'd either eat all the food or drive me insane with their constant whining. and finally any homicidal maniacs I want to be rescued, not killed! But, what about anime characters who you'd want to be stuck on a deserted island with? Mizuno Ami/ SailorMercury-well, she's smart, so we'd be able to get off the island in a few hours or so because she'd some how make a radio from a coconut and a palm frond Sesshomaru-Because even if we didn't get rescued right away, it would still be a\entertaining for a bit-until he decided to kill me or something, like you know kill me then revive me, I don't feel like playing episodes 045 and 046 from SailorMoon any time soon. So maybe I wouldn't want him with me for too long. Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing He's cute and he won't kill me. Besides, maybe he'd be able to help me get off the stinkin' island! Well, okay, now we have 4 topics in one post- have fun!

Okay, maybe I should just say this- Both sexes take my advice, don't strive for perfection because that just gets you more stressed out in the long run. Try to learn about eachother-this is a first date, not The BAchelor or The Bachelorette. Find things that you both enjoy. DOn't go crazy trying to make this teh most memorable occasion of your life, all you're doing is spending time with a person, not proposing marriage! The worst thing that can ever happen on a date is that a person gets too caught up in how the whole thing is going that they forget to have fun which generally turns into a date from hell and you never go out again. Girls, I'm married to one of the least romantic guys in the universe, the guy asked me if I would put up with his crap for the rest of my life when he proposed. When I say this i mean don't expect flowers of any type on a first date, infact, consider yourself lucky if the guy didn't over kill it on the cologne and his socks match. Don't base the date on whether he brings you something or takes you somewhere fancy, base it on how he/she treats you, does he listen to what you say or interupt you every six seconds. As for the guys, I really don't know what to say except, try not to trip over yourself to be uber romantic-to be quite honest, it can freak some girls out big time. BE polite, if you take your signifigant (or in this case hopefully signifigant) other out to dinner, pull out or chair, but please don't order for the person, it's a big no no! GIve a compliment, but don't over do it. And for Lady's sake, don't bathe in Nautica Competition (or any other cologne) this person is planning on breathing for teh duration of the date. Okay, maybe my advice was bad, but hey, it's the best I can do considering that most of my dates consisted of a movie, dinner, or a disaterous day at an amusement park. But hey, it beats staying at home and watching the grass grow.

This documentary/movie has been out on HBO for almost two weeks, but I haven't seen a thread on here about it yet so I decided to go and make one myself. The term Iron Jawed Angels comes from one of the names these women were given by newpaper reporters Iron Jawed Angels is about the woman's sufferagist movement from 1917-1918 when Alice Paul and Lucy Burns came from England to America to help with getting women the right to vote. They end up causing a rift in the first women's organization and start their own instead. Mainly due to wartime and the fact that some women wanted to stay out of the war and others wanted to help. The story also centers around when these women were rounded up for protesting outside the White House and wer arrested on Trumped Up charges of Blocking traffic and causing a disturbance. They were denied a right to a trial by their peers and sent to OCcoquan WOrk house in Virginia where alice PAul began a hunger strike. (they show this in the movie as well as the )part of her being force fed. I've seen this movie twice and was impressed with the accuracy in which it was portrayed along with the cinematography (is that teh right word?) and the costumes. If anyone else has seen this movie, I'd appreciate your veiws. Personally, it makes me want to get my butt out and vote this November.

Dinner and a movie are a good idea, but rather cliche. If it's nice out I'd suggest going to an amuesment park or something in that area. Local festivals are a good idea too. Don't talk about yourself too much it gets annoying to the other person. INstead ask questions and anwer them. Holding hands is just fine, lots of peopel hold hands. If you really want to, kiss, but don't swallow the poor person's face or anything. If the weather is crappy in your area, take in a movie then maybe go to some fast food restuaruant. Don't see anything scary or romantic unless you planned on having someone cling to you for a good 2 hrs or you really wanted to be hated. At dinner you can talk about the movie it's actually a decent ice breaker. That's all the advice I have for you. Stay away from sports altho hockey is always good with me as is baseball. Don't make her get too messy as some girls really are girl girls. Okay peace!

I got a bit more info on this and also gained the profit of sleep and a two hour conversation with Lincoln. I'm going to wait until Thursday to listen to the whole story again. He actually gave me the numbers of the two other girls in question. The other two recently got over bad divorces. (If that's any inclination) And the friend who told me said to think it over a bit and make him sweat. Also the one other girl who actually knows us only met Lincoln once and he was in a crappy mood and we were going thru some hard times with finances and roommates. Both of which are cleared up now. I've known Lincoln for going on four years and we've been married for almost two, even if there was a problem, I think the best step woulod be to try and talk it out. Thank you for your support and such. Sorry to Mitch and Leh about the spelling problem-keh, soem people are picky about some things! I don't think this post could get any further so if the mods want to close it, fine with me. Thank you again Sincerly Chibi Horsewoman

As many of you may or may not know I'm married and I'm going to have a baby in September. My husband is at Ft.Hood TX and getting sent to Iraq this weekend.I've been living up here in NY since November and he's been in TX, then LA then back to TX For a little while he was in NY. Well, that's obviously not the subject for the topic of this post. I was talking to a friend of mine down in TX when she told me she had sent me an email, it was about my husband's yahoo profile. He updated it 29, JAn, but didn't bother to change his single status to married. Also, (and maybe this was a bit unethical of me, but I decided that since i knew his password I'd see what I could find) I found a bunch of girl's screen names on his buddy list. NOw, I've only known this friend of mine for over a year, but I've known Lincoln for almost four years. Neither one of them has anythingto profit by lying. Well, okay, Lincoln could be dishonorably discharcharged and get into a lot of trouble if he was found to be cheating on me. And I'd get the rest of his paychecks. But other than that nobody has anything to gain from this. (she's married BTW) I'm just wondering if you guys have any ideas or input to this subject. Maybe what would you do or something to that effect. anything would be of hellp. Thank you.

Anime Good or Evil, which do you like better?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Otaku Central
MOst villains don't seem to think that they're doing anything wrong. Take Masao from MArs as an example. Masao felt that he was justified because human nature as he said was naturally violent. He felt that killing was essential to survival. OF course most would probably dispute his reasonings, but he felt that they were valid. Another good example is probablt queen NEhelenia from SailorMOonSs. She felt justified because she felt she had been wronged by the people of teh white moon. Sure, in the end of the first arc of the Stars anime they found all she wanted was a friend, but in the manga she was evil. Final example is KAgura from INuYasha. She fights because Naraku has her heart and could kill her at any time. That's why she's evil. I guess the reason that I like the villains is because there's no cut and dry reason for them to be evil. They have actual reasons. Well, except for Sesshomaru in the beginning of InuYasha, I think he just enjoys being bad. -
violet]*looks around shamefully* I should probably begin by saying that I haven't seen the movie since 2000 even tho I have the DVD and could have watched it on TV a few weeks ago. When I saw it back in 2000 tho I was awed by the animation and the story. It was kind of like a not so friendly Fern Gully. The character developement was managed very nicely from what I remember. You kind of had to admire Ashitaka's courage while dealing with that strange disease. He had one of the best anime quotes as well: I wish to see the world with eyes unclouded by hate That monk was quite a character as well. One of my favorite scenes was
when the animals were getting ready to battle against lady (can't remember her name's) village and the boars managed to do the mud like war paint. It was like giving the animlas some human qualities
I also liked the little mushroom looking things that would pop up every once in a while. As for the whole idea with the mononoke, the term mononoke (correct me if I'm wrong) means spirit. It could be good or bad. For example, I was watching a fansub of InuYasha and they were calling Mistress Centipeide a mononoke-they may have called InuYasha one as well. as a Wiccan, I don't really beleive in demons and I don't take much stock in evil spirits (atleast in my path) come to think of it, I didn't believe in them much as a Catholic either. And like someone else said, demons are a part of many anime, Just look at InuYasha, Yasha is another term for demon. But that's all I have to say on that subject and if you feel that you can get so easily influenced by a movie, tv show or anime, you'd do best to lock yourself inside your room and never come out.

I saw two issues of the manga in Media play, but have yet to either buy it or see the anime. From what you've said, it sounds like a rather interesting series. Of course, I'm more of a lover of comedy thatn tradgedy myself, but I think I may start sending some of the manga to my husband after he gets his over seas addy. The artwork in the manga is impressive though, but that's about my only other take on this topic.

I've been pondering this question for a while, so now I'm going to spring it on you people. When it comes to anime or manga, who do you like better, the good guys or the bad guys? And why do you feel the way you do? For me, it's usually the bad guys. The good guys always win of course, but tehre are so many moral issues and sometimes it just gets cliched. Besides, admit it, didn't you like the evil queen better than Snow White in Snow White and the Seven Drawfs? Besides, some of my most favorite characters are evil, Kagura, Sesshomaru, Ascione, and Soi to name a few. Evilness is cool because in some ways we all wish that we could get some sort of revenge and not have to pay for it. So what are your veiws?

Man, this is a hard one. There's this one song from New Found Glory's first CD, Nothing Gold Can Stay that I like called It Never SNows in Florida: Distance means nothing to me, it only makes me want to see you longer My words just like a mentioned kiss. With every letter they're getting stronger Days go by Feelings go on Unfortunately, with out you it never snows in Florida. It's best to take your time Conversation cuts like glass I'm the calm before the storm I'm the second before the crash. I've been between myself for days I'm the hero of the year. Strange lyrics, ne? I'll probably be able to think of more later.
The song that really annoys me and makes me bleed at the ears is R Kelly's I believe I can fly. My mum loves that song and plays it when she does the hovering and plays it so loud i can hear it in my room. I hate that song so much that i hide the cd from my mum and when she couldnt find it she searched the whole house until she found it in my sock draw. She acused me of listening to it in secret and that i should admit to likin somthing that that isnt metal. I couldnt believe it.
I have to agree with you there James. That song was good like the first three times I heard it. after that I wanted to break my ear drums with a sharpened number 2. Or boycott the radio. One song I can stand for a while, but my brother-in-law hates is Peaches by Presidents. I think the chorus gets to him because it keeps going: Goin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches Go figure. Oh, I forgot, did anyone mention the Thong SOng? The only good that came off of that was a few parodies, most of which were drug related. Eep! Also, Shake your Bom Bom, or whatever? Does anyone even know what a bom bom is?

I only heard of them thru a local radio station. They aren't half bad. I'm sorry I really can't ellaborate too much on this topic. I wanted to try and win tickets to a show they had recently here in NY, but I kept getting the busy signal and I dind't have enough money to get a ticket from the box office. I have heard some of tehir songs on the radio, I guess they're somewhat decent as music goes. I hope I do get to hear them in concert some time before they get over played.

More people who would become null and void on the roommate applications 1.) Happosai from Ranma1/2-He's a dirty old perverted man. Plus, he steals underwear. Those two things just won't work for me, I like to know where my underwear is at all time!-NEXT! 2.) Ryouga(Sp?)/P-Chan also from Ranma1/2)- He gets lost (which could make him late paying his half of the rent) and he turns into a pig when you hit him with cold water. Yes, the pig is cute, until your landlord comes by and evicts you for having a pet that's not on the lease-next! 3.)Shampoo-Hmm, a jealous amazoness with a mallet who turns into a cat? I'd never get the deposit back and I'd get kicked out for having too many cats (I have one already)-NEXT! 4.) Tasuke from Fushigi Yugi- Yes, his cute, but he can't stop saying how much he hates girls and hello, I'm a girl. Plus his tessen. ONe Lekka Shien and we're all toast.-Next 5.) Toma from FY- One of the crazy guys from the Seiyu seven. He'd have The Fab Five up here in no time! His make-up alone is enough to freak any normal person out, but I think he has some other strange powers as well. That's too creepy. 6.) Nevi from Legend of Zelda-Yes, it's a video game, but She's an annoyiong little Fairy who says the same thing over and over again. Of course, on the bright side I could swat her with a fly swatter!-Hehehe! 7.) Finally Tuxedo Kamen from SailorMoon- Boring speeches, throwing roses, bad dresser to boot. If he ever started talking you know I'd have to impale him on that cane of his! So there you have it, seven more no thank yous

I hope this is easier for both of you to read. I'm too lazy to seperate every single oaragraph and then add quote and color to everything-so I'll just say this. George W. was about as much of a fighter pilot as a commercial airline piolot Boba fett, you completely missed the part about how The NAtional guard never deploys. Tho I''m sure if one of the vietcong LT. Bush would have gotten some SPC to knock him off (I'm just saying what most LT. do in the first palce. You do realize that an officer who is a Lt is basically a private that everyone has to salute?) You claim that Clinton has no integrity? He's a politician, they sell their morals for votes. Besides that fact I fail to see how his conduct in his private life could have severly affected either the economy or the country in general. Nobody brought up JFK's infidelity during his time in office, or Lincoln's manic depression during the civil war. That's because back then people realized that a person's private life didn't have squat to do with the person's governing skills. As for purjury, yes, that was wrong, but it's not as bad as going AWOL during wartime for the final 2 years of your enlistment. Bush claims that he was sent to the Ark. Nathional guard, why didn't his commanding officer see him there? You can't just get lost on a military base for 2 years. Even at Ft.Hood TX, the largest military base in the free world (I know that has almost no relation to this topic, but I'm trying to prove my point that there is a great possibility that he did go AWOL) you can't be there for 2 years w/o atleast 30 people knowing you exist. As for unemployment not having anything to do with the president. I think you're a bit out in left feild with that one (notice that at no point in this did I call you a liar, sound familiar?) You can't in one sentence blame Clinton for the drop in the economy then turn around and say that Bush is blameless. That's being hypocritical. Yes, it's true that he's not completely responsible, but he does decide on the budget in the first place. So you're arguement is a bit flawed there. My dislike of Bush is mostly personal though in terms of religion and marriage to be exact. Bush wants to pass a law into the constitution stating that marriage is only between a man and a woman. And while he was govenor of TX he made quite a few statements about wanting to outlaw paganism, which happens to be my religion. How moral is that? Well, I've said my peice again and wait disection again. Of course this time I hope we can avoid teh name calling.

New York State pays for the AP tests and just liek teh GA students we have to pay the $6.00 fee. As for the Senior prom. I went-by myself-then met up with my friends. I didn't really date that much in high school. The theme of our prom was save the best for last (I graduated in 99) so they played that lame Vanessa Willaims Save the Best For Last song about 10 times. The rest of the music was pop and DMB. Oh and we had blue, gold and white baloons and such everywhere. Those were the school colors. We had it at the River SIde COnvention Center downtown. So if anyone got bored with the bad music a person could go outside and look at the Genessee river and the rest of downtown. My friends and I mostly stayed outside even tho it was cold (yes, it was May, but this is New York!) My dress was pretty coool tho. I got it for $72.00 at a consignment shop. Still the best part of the night was Prime Time with the games and aeverything-then breakfast when this stuck up popular girl spilled milk on herself so it looked like she wet her pants. I got a picture of that since I thought it was fitting. I am so mean!
I just love names so much. I can't wait to get something like a child to try one out!
Hey, if my child gets too annoying for me, I'll sell her/him (j/k) You know If you take parenting classes in highschool (which in some ways is a bit disturbing) There's usually a part in the class where you get to take a baby home. Of course it's not a real baby, but it does cry a lot. The best part is you get to name the baby. One of my friends was in an odd mood and named her baby-think-it-over: Caligulis Rigermortis Oliver Murphy. My mom sometimes says that she was going to name me Esmeralda Hortense and my brother Marmaduke Duncan, but neither one sounds as bad as being named Cletis...or Earl. -
People in politics have been mud slinging eachother since the idea of a democratic election began. This is nothing new, it's never going to be anything new. What'll be really newsworthy is if someone who's running for political office makes a comercial which goes: This person helps out the homelss, I teach underprivledged kids to read. All and all we'd both be the best candidate for the job, but vote for me anyway Of course that's a tad unrealistic, but hey, it was good, ne? As for Bush, I don't care for him. I didn't vote for him in the first place and I think the budget deficit and the rise in unemployment is thanks to him. When Clinton left office back in 2000, we had a budget surplus and the economy was booming. Now there are more people than there are jobs. OF course, that was just my opinion. Another interesting POV. Many people want to rag on Clinton for being a draft dodger, and his unfortunate episode with Monica Lewinski. Neither of which should be considered in the man's political career, but Republicans can't seem to forget those things. But what about Bush and the whole National guard thing? Yes, he did join, but his family's money got him a position as a Luetenant (paper pusher) in the National Guard-which BTW NEVER DEPLOYS TO OVER SEAS AREAS! And even with that position there are questions to where he was the last 2 years of his enlistment. And I think we should all be aware that desertion during war time is punishable by court mashall. In all fairness, Bush did do a good job during the 9/11 crisis. However, that's all the props I'll give him. Thanks to him, most countries really don't care for us anymore. He's hurting the ties we had with China and Cuba. Along with the state of the nation. Well, there's my $1.50, do what you will Okay, I'm ready for my disection Mr. Boba Fett

I'm a name freak too. I like to know the meanings of people's names. my given name is Megan Elizabeth. It's an ok name, but there are so many Megan's out there. Probably because when i was born is was in the top 5 most popular name's for girls. My husband's name is Lincoln Earl. He hates it. Of course, that's probably because he's heard. Land of Lincoln, Lincoln Logs, Hey, Abraham and Stinkin' Lincoln since he started school. I wonder how that became annoying. Of course, he's teh only Lincoln I've ever met. Altho I have heard of a few Lincolns. As I've been mentioning, I'm pregnant so my husband and I have been considering names for boys and girls. The girls have ranged from ordinary to out there, but the boy's names are usual. There will be no Lincoln Earl the seconds. We've narrowed it down to three for each. choices for girls 1. Abigail- 2. Linnea- 3. Elisabeth Choices for boys 1. Adam 2 Jason 3. David I want to get a dog and if it's a boy name him Loki for the norse god of Mischief. I never actually considered naming a plant, but one of my cousins named her car Gideon. Go figure. -
Gay Marriage, PLease, let's be mature
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
There's been some talk about the moralityof allowing same sex couples to marry. I'll probably sound either stupid or redundant but how can allowing two people who are in love be considered imoral? Explain that. As TN has been saying, this idea has nothing to do with religion and I agree with him on it. What it has to do is with allowing people the right to marriage-the ability to enjoy the same rights as heterosexual couples. The right to see their partner in ICU and to adopt children. Basic human rights which are given to most couples. I can argue logically and legitamately on this topic. My husband had a much more stable home life when he lived with his auint and her partner than when he lived with his mother and her string of live-in boyfriends. So I fail to see how two men or two woman could fail in their attempt to offer a child a stable loving home. I was watching World News Tonight a few minutes ago and one of the legislator's from California says that in the long run this could be detrimental to the complete legalization of same sex marriages. This legislator is gay. I'm curious to see what other people think about this man's opinion. Do you feel that one person's opposition to a state's ruling could help or hurt people in the long run? I'm all for democracy, but I can't see how a country that denies a group of people the basic right of marriage can be considered a democracy. If there was a law baring people from different religions or different ethnic backgrounds from marrying people would be all over the place to take down that law. How is homosexual marriage any different? (Try to stay away from bringing up incest, that isn't the same thing at all) Even if you don't want to give them a right to marry, atleast give them a civil union-or even a right to common law marriage (if that's anywhere close to the same thing. IF I got that wrong let me know.) As for marriage being a sacred thing. Throughout history it hasn't been very sacred at all. People were married off like property to secure land or dimplomatic ties. Besides that fact, many of the european monarchs had mistresses, only sleeping with their legal spouses to produce legitamate children. Infact, King James I of England as well as a few of the French kings were homosexuals. Well, I've included a bit more of my opinion, take it as you will Chibi Horsewoman -
I did make-up once for a high school production of Hello Dolly. I didn't get along too well with one of the girls since she was popular and I wasn't Come to think of it, I still don't get along with her because she's a narrow minded person which I can't stand. However, I did get my name put in a program and my cousin's high school heard of me so when I went to see her in South Pacific at her high school everyone was cool with me. Too bad everyone in the music department at my high school was so super ficial. iNcluding the director.

Bush 'Troubled' by Gay Marriage Issue Associated Press President Bush said Wednesday he was troubled by gay weddings in San Francisco and by legal decisions in Massachusetts that could clear the way for same-sex marriage. He declined to say whether he was more inclined now to back a constitutional ban. However, he spoke privately with conservative Catholics about the issue, and activists who favor such a ban said the president would soon announce his support. "I have watched carefully what's happening in San Francisco, where licenses were being issued, even though the law states otherwise," Bush said. "I have consistently stated that I'll support law to protect marriage between a man and a woman. Obviously these events are influencing my decision." One group took issue with Bush's insistence that "people," not the courts, need to resolve the issue. "In San Francisco, the democratically elected mayor took this action just weeks after hundreds of thousands of people voted for him," said Jon Davidson, senior counsel of Lambda Legal, a gay and lesbian legal group. "It's the right-wing groups that have taken this into courts seeking to define marriage in a way that would exclude same-sex couples, in violation of California's Constitution," Davidson said. White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush recognized that gay marriage is a divisive topic. But, he said, "this is an issue where he believes it is important for people to stand up on principle." Bush met with 13 Roman Catholic conservatives. They included Deal Hudson, the publisher of Crisis magazine and a friend of Bush political adviser Karl Rove; William Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights; Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan, former speechwriter for President Reagan; and Kathryn Jean Lopez, associate editor of National Review magazine. Gay and lesbian couples from Europe and more than 20 states have flocked to San Francisco City Hall since city officials decided to begin marrying same-sex couples a few days ago. At the current pace, more than 3,000 people will have taken vows by Friday promising to be "spouses for life." The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court recently ruled that it is unconstitutional to bar gay couples from marriage. At least 38 states and the federal government have approved laws or amendments barring the recognition of gay marriage. On Wednesday, the Utah House gave final legislative approval to a measure outlawing same-sex marriages and sent it to the governor, who has not taken a position on the bill. How can the events in San Fransisco be encouraging Bush's idea of marriage being between a man and a woman? That makes no sense. For that matter neither does stating that the people should make the descisions on marriage when he clearly stated before that he dissagrees on people making the descision that same sex unions should be legalized. WHile this sounds like a Bush Bashing post, I think we shoudl go beyond that-along with the whole idea of homosexuality being the same as beastiality. We're all adults, or clsoe to it so let's make a concious descision to try and act in a civilized manner. We should try to respect people's veiws on this subject. As for me, I'm a liberal reguardless of the political party. Added into this is the fact that I'm not a Christian and I'm married. I find it amusing that while many people will claim that the Bible claims that this is immoral while in San Fransisco all these marriages (to the best of my knowledge) have taken place before a justice of the peace and not in a church. Also, I feel it's narrow minded to assume that everyone in America is Christian and adheres to the norm. As a married person, I don't feel that legalizing same sex marriages will discredit the sanctity of marriage which in some ways is another oxy-moron since throughout history marriages have been used souly to gain property or secure relations between countries without reguard to either member's feelings towards one another. Well, I've said my peice and I invite others to do the same. and if I'm doing somethng wrong by posting this topic, I apologize in advance. Thank you and Blessed be, Chibi Horsewoman
