Well, I'm feeling increasingly interested in some of the bills that Bush has signed. Including ones on abortion. I'm pro-choice because although I would never get an abortion, I don't think it's my right to decide what another woman should do with her body. Infact a close friend of mine had one last year, and I don't feel any differently about her. My stance on this subject is quite odd considering that I am adopted and if my mother had chosen abortion because of her situation, I wouldn't be here, but still, who am I to judge? So now I'm curious, what is everyone else's opinion. Why do you feel this way? And no one lines about it's imoral. If you think so, give a good reason.

MA KO's Ban on Gay marriages
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Originally posted by Deedlit And who's to say that gay people don't love each other enough to get married? I don't approve of gay marriages, but people are given the free agency to do as they will, and if they love each other so much that they want to get married, then let them. The government should not try to prevent it since they're the ones that are always looking for ways to "uphold the constitution", and this ban violates that.
Did you even read my whole post? You do know that I'm the one who put this up here right? Sorry, sometimes I get defensive. -
The Otaku/Otaku boards in ten years
ChibiHorsewoman replied to GreatDeitylink's topic in General Discussion
Let's see... Ten years, that'll make me 32 Since I'm already married and I know I can get pregnant, I'm thinking I'll already have kids. Maybe scary kids who learned how to use the web @ 4 and maybe they'll be here in mommy's place since mommy will be too busy. How long has this been up in the first place? I know of another board which is half dead and has been around for five years. Do the math. However, this isn't a website and board, it's just a board. and since some of the people here are in their early teens, I'm guessing that maybe it will be. I don't know call me in 10 years and let me know. -
Keh. I've lived in Upsate NY for the majority of my life, drove over the speed limit for quite some time and have never received a speeding ticket. And we're talking 65 in a 30 zone at times and the State limit is usually 55 on the express ways except in certain areas where it's 65. Hell, even when I lived in Texas I dodn't get one. Of course, the Speed limit in TX varies from 70 daytime and 65 at night to 60 all the time and cars 65 all other vehicles 55. Tho I could probably talk my way out of one if I ever got a ticket. Drama club comes in handy at times Now my husband, he's only had his liscense for a year and he's gotten 3 tickets in Texas. One because he was going 30 in a 15 before he got off post. One for going 85 in a 60 zone (probably because everyone else was going so fast the guy could only catch him) and one more for some other speed. And then there's my dad. My dad got so many traffic violations and speeding tickets that he got his liscense suspended pretty much after he got it :rotflmao: Yet he talks about how fast I drive  Please, the guy almost got a ticket in Arizona for going 90 in a 70MPH zone. The trooper let him off with a warning because of his NEw York Driver's liscense. The whole time my mom kept saying 'if he give you a ticket, don't say thank you.' Of course Manic does have a point, you really shouldn't have been driving so fast. Maybe fate just felt that you needed to learn a lesson. I heart cruise control!

Who is your Daddy, and What Does He Do?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Ben's topic in General Discussion
My dad works in receiving for Wegman's which is a grocery store where I live. They pay their workers **i* he hasn't gotten a raise in eight years and he's worked there for twenty-five years. When he's not working, he's shooting at animals near the PA border. My mom works for FIT Which stands for Food Information Training. Basically, she sits at a computer in her home office (sometimes over the weekend) doing conference calls and figuring stuff out. When she's not home, she's somewhere else teaching people how to use programs. I loved when she'd come down to TX to see me. I also got to go to AZ because of her. -

MA KO's Ban on Gay marriages
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I think it's immoral and wrong to define marriage as only a union between a man and a woman. This would be thought of differently if a law stated that marriage was only recognized as a union between two members of the same race or of the same religion. Hell, people would protest until the proverbial cows came home to change those laws. Why is this any different? Is it because some religious groups feel that family vaules will be threatened? Is it because the military would have to retract that don't ask don't tell policy and maybe pay more attention to high ranking NCOs (E5 and up) who are beating their spouses? (this has happened, when my husband and I arrived @ Ft.Hood last year his sponsor made it a point to tell Lincoln that he could get anger management classes) Or is it because people are just afraid to change what they've known for so long? I still stand by what I said, marriage is a commitment made by two people who love eachother. And if some day we have a president who decides to legalize gay marriages nation wide, I won't feel that my union with my husband has been lessened in anyway. -

2004 Re-Elections [a.k.a. Is Bush a Good President?]
ChibiHorsewoman replied to eleanor's topic in General Discussion
Originally posted by Crimson Spider The only real exception is WWI... or was it II? Well, we were in the depression, and the war brought us out of it. But the other WW brought our economy down. It brought down the economy of EVERY country that was involved. But we do liberate Iraq. Their happy. A few loyal followers and anti-american sects chose to attack us. You have to cut it from somewhere, and He's not getting it all from Vets. He's got other places. It isn't like ALL veterans are losing their benifits.
Okay, you 've really gotta do something about that keyboard diarreah of yours, it's getting on people's nerves. Also, I find it quite funny that you act so smart, yet don't really remember which world war was before the Great Depression and which World war was after the Great Depression. FYI-WWI 1914-1918(An assasination got Europe into it, we (the US) got into it around 1917 ended with the signing of the Armistece) Great depression-1929-around 1941 (FDR and the 2nd World War got the US out of it) WWII 1939-1945. Please note that for the beginnings of the wars I'm using the s\dates they actually started, not when US decided to join. In the 20's Europe's economy was down, but the US's was up because they owed us money for sending them crops. Then there was the stockmarket crash and Europe couldn't pay us so the economy of civilized world went into decline. You're a bit off on saying that not all veteran's are losing their benefits. If VA hospitals close, and he does go through with cutting the budget for veterans you can guarantee that veteran's will lose benifits. Try not to speak (type) before you think next time. This whole VA budget cut is indeed one of the most foolish and unpatriotic things this man could do during war time. And he;s going to go through with it (don't believe me, I have sources listed in another reply) Never mind the fact that he's creating more and more veteran's every day who are going to need medical assistance. We're going to close the VA hospitals and cut that out of our budget. And the Iraqi people are not all happy (BTW pls check your grammar when you get keyboard diarreah). Or haven't you read the headlines lately? They're shooting at more of the soldiers and planting more bombs. All we need is a few more years and some kids getting mined and thrown at troops and we've got ourselves another Vietnam.
Originally posted by Crimson Spider History lesson: after a war, even small ones, we always kept troops to help stabelize the country. Fine examples are germany, and Japan. And no one wants to go to war. No one wants to stay in there. But it is necissary. If we left, the entire country would go back to chaos, because now there is no rule over it anymore except for the poor influence that their government has now.
Don't try to start with the history lessons on me. If we occupy every nation after every war, why aren't we occupying Vietnam? Why are we occupying Korea since technically the war never ended there? Do you even know the purpose of the bases located in Europe and Asia? I do-mostly becuase my husband told me (he knows because he's a Specialist in the United State's Army). I can tell you why we didn't occupy Vietnam after the war. First off, it was a conflict and second-America realized that this was a lost cause, we were losing too many lives over there. We occupy KOrea to basically be a speed bump between North and South KOrea. The major bases (ie Red Cloud Casey ect ect) are up by the DMZ (Demillitarized Zone) If a war (another one) broke out in Korea, these bases would be used to help out until support arrived from the US. Oh, and we're thinking of removing a few of these overseas bases. Did you know that? As for the rest, did you even read my post before replying to it? Do you even know what ETS stands for? I don't think so. ETS stands for Enlistment Termination Status. Which is when your enlistment is up in the military. Under normal conditions (ie peacetime) you get out when the paper says you get out. Stop Losses (like the one the military instituted prior to the war in Iraq) make it so you stay in until the stop loss is lifted. Now, according to Bush, we're in the middle of a cease fire (which mean that these aren't war dead anymore i guess.) So for all intents and purposes there is no more war therefore no reason to institute the stoploss. However, Bush has now decided that he will turn Iraq into another over seas tour and hard ship tour as well (if you want to know what hardship tour is PM me). Along with this is the fact that he's been seriously thinking about eliminating the Hazardous duty pay and cutting the hardship tour pay in half which means that these men and women put their
*****
on the line for even less than they are now. All this and he's having everyone stay over there for a year reguardless of ETS date. So, is that a good enough reason to dislike Bush? -
I agree with Dan and The Newt on the whole name thing. You can't just dictate that someone will take your name as their last name. And if you think you can, well, just stay out of the marriage pool for the time being. Part of marriage is compromise. I wasn't even born with the last name I have now, but these people adopted me and treated me as their own child for 21 years so that's why I decided to keep my maiden name when I got married to my husband in september 2002. He understands this and that's why he let me make the desicion myself. Not to sound rude or anything, but from the way most of you have replied, I think the majority of you are still in school and are just dating. YOu haven't really had the actual marriage thought process yet. Trust me, it's not all flowers and cuddling. You ahve to learn how to live with a person whose upbringing and background may be completely different from yours. There's a lot of stress involved too. And if you really hate stress-never marry a military person. Trust me, I thought a lot before deciding on how I was going to go by after I got married. Sometimes I thought I might Use Crisler (my husband's name) other times I thought I'd do what I'm doing now. And even tho I get a finger cramp after signing my name it's worth it.

I like to watch Liberty's Kids on PBS,watch Dora and Blue's Clues. I tell Dora how to get to where she's going and I tell Joe where the clues are. Also I watch Jerry Springer and try to compare the show to my in-laws. DOn't ask me why, I just do. Finally, whenever those state of the union addresses come on I yell at the pResident for a while then talk to my cat. It's really quite soothing.

MA KO's Ban on Gay marriages
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I think it's sad that we've come so far and accomplished so little. I mean c'mon, they can live together for longer than most Hollywood 'marriages', but you can't give them the same rights? What kind of democracy is that? Maybe a few couples are doing it for 'publicity'. But maybe we should say the same thing for bi-racial couples as well then if that's the case. This ruling is probably part of the reason I'm voting for Dean next year. He's the congressman who passed the bill which legalized gay marriages in Vermont. -
Originally posted by Queen Asuka Well, I plan to take on the last name of the man I marry. It's something that little girls always dream about and I'm sure that when you were a kid, you were so obsessed with some pop culture icon that you pretending you were married and called yourself by the last name, didn't you? Ah, my poor daddy. He wanted a little boy so badly but he just got a handful of gorgeous ladies. And we are all gorgeous. Good times. ^_^
Actually I always wanted to keep my own name and add someone else's to it. I was all things girly except for that one issue. I still am except for that. My husband dosn't mind tho, he thinks it's kinda nice. But we're going to have the kids with his last name, since their first name plus fifteen more letters is a bit much for a five-year old. Heck, sometimes it's even too much for me :rotflmao: My dad got lucky, a girl and a boy, but my papa (my mom's dad) had three girls as well, so there was no one to carry on the Henning name for that side, but his sister had a boy and the dad ditched the family, so my 2nd cousin is Henning. Coolest thing to know about me tho is that I'm the only granddaughter on my mom's side of the family :) Oh, and on the whole, it's 'tradition' to take your husband's name, in some cultures the wife keeps her maiden name and adds her husband's name to her own. That's considered tradition for them. So maybe, in some ways I am following tradition?

Yes folks while some of our parents (my dad included) were over in Vietnam trying not to catch a bad case of death, Bush was either AWOL or making sure the Vietcong didn't attack Texas. Oh, and here's a good one:http://www.onlisareinsradar.com/archives/001091.php http://www.usmedicine.com/article.cfm?articleID=645&issueID=50 -
Anime What's your favorite anime quote?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ElrickOtaku's topic in Otaku Central
I have quite a few different favorite quotes from anime One of my favorites is from PallaPalla-PallaPalla doesn't like you so you have to die. This is good because it was said to Tuxedo Kamen Another is You're the disillusioned typer who cries himself to sleep every night aren't you? said by Meryl to Vash But the most truthful quote is By Duo Maxwell-If we weren't idiots, we wouldn't be soldiers. The most thought provoking is from Tamahome-Breathing for no purpose is a waste of life That reminds me, I have to change my signature! -
