Childhood memories-funny stuff
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Well, there's always the time I went sledding down this hill at my dad's hunting camp and smacked right into a tree with my head. Ow that hurt for a few minutes!:bawl: My little brother was an escape artist tho. When he was three he somehow got out of the house and almost drowned in a neighbor's pool.:therock: I also remember going sledding at Highland Park and ramming my head into the statue of Frederick Douglas in the middle of the hill. I think that hurt more than the tree did:bawl: *rubs head* I'll be sober tomorrow, but you;ll be ugly for the rest of your life -
Originally posted by rttocs77 I disagree with Christians having pagan roots. Maybe Europeans who became Christians, but not the religion itself. I do agree that religion should play no part what-so-ever when it come to governizing. I think the basic "laws" of all religions should apply though, such as not killing/stealing/giving false testiment etc... That is probably the only thing for which I am not too fond of Bush. I don't like that when he gives speeched he backs up his decisions with Bible experts. If he used them and ones from other religious text, I wouldn't care, but he acts like Christianity is the only right thing. I'm a Christian, but if I were President I wouldn't necessarily use my religious values when it came to governing a nation. I also disagree with his fight to ban gay marriages. The only reason he is doing that is because he thinks that it's a sin. Whatever. I support everything else he does...
I do have to disagree with the opinion of CHritsianity not having some Pagan origins. Atleast western Christianity. Examples? Okay, take Yule/Christmas Nobody is really quite sure about when Jesus was born except that Mary and Joseph were traveling from their home to Bethlehem and in those days most people didn't travel during the winter season. Also, and my friend who's Eastern Othodox, likes to point this out to people, the Bible says that the shepards were watching their flocks that night, and who wants to graze flocks of sheep in the middle of winter? Yule is also called winter solstice depending on your path. Winter solstice comes around the 20/21 of December. So, one day these guys come along and decide that well, yes, you're celebrating yule, but it's too early. And you;re not celebrating the birth of this guy you're celebrating the birth of Christ. Because let's face it, sometimes you have to add a bit off honey to make people see your side. Another good example is a quick one, but a good use of if you can't beat them, adjust them. St.Brigit of Ireland was originally the goddess, Brigit, sister to the Morrigan. The ancient Irish loved her so much that when St Patrick came over there the wouldn't give her uo and so he just made her a saint. :) As for GW Bush, I just don't like the guy. He brings religion into every aspect of his political campaign and when he was the govenor of Texas he did the same thing. I'll admit it, I'm liberal. I'm pro-choice, and for same sex marriages. I don't think that being Catholic or anything in general based on Judeo-Christian religions means that you're altomatically against homosexuality. Infact, the Bible never said anything about God being against Homosexuality until the early nineteen hundreds when they decided to rewrite it for some reason. Another interesting fact about the Bible, It wasn't until the King Jame's Version published in the 1600's that you could find the verse: Suffer not a witch to live. It was originally Suffer not a poisoner to live. Look it up in a non KJV. But, like I was saying, Bush is not the best example of separation between Church and State our Government can give. But this isn't a Your opinion on the president post either  , so I'll just end it here...Of course, if someone wants to get into a friendly debate PM me The only IM I have right now is MSN tho. There is no darkness like ignorance

Hell is Texas pure and simple. *looks around and sees Texans with pitchforks and torches*:nervous: Okay, maybe hell is AP Chemistry class where you sit behind a guy with a really hairy back, but atleast he smells good. I didn't really like this tho:
Is it possible that reincarnation is what awaits non-believers? Not a reincarnation into a new life, but a new death? My soul would have a burden lifted from it if this were true. Everyone knows non-believers, some even love them. The thought of them suffering eternal torment is enough to cause a lifelong despair. I would like to know what you all think about this idea, because it came from me reading the Bible. I'm sorry that I didn't quote passages, but that would take too long, and my time is short. If you know the Book well enough, you will be able to discern what came from that book, and what came from my own mind.
Please don't tell people that their soul is doomed for tourment unless I they like you do, it reminds me of ppl coming up to me at gas stations and telling me I should go to their church.:flaming: If I took it too personally I'm sorry, but my grandma's been trying to save me since last October:therock: And I don't mean put me in a Ziplock bag. Trust me, it's not fun belonging to a non judeo-Christian religion-especially in the Bible Belt! And when your family gets into it along with perfect strangers it just gets worse!:angry2: Okay, Rant over. More on purgatory: The ancient Sumerians believed that all your afterlife just basically sucked and it didn't matter wether you were good or bad. You'd spend eternity eatting clay and wearing bird feathers. I think I'd take about anything over that-even taking AP Chemistry in Texas!:rotflmao: If at first you don't succeed, maybe sky diving isn't for you! Why do they call it Perminant Change of Station when you aren't going to stay there perminantly? May the circle be open, but never unbroken, may the peace of the goddess be added to your heart. Okay, completely off the love triangle topic and the animation topic as well as the death and reanimation topic is Cartoon Network's InuYasha Synopsis:? INUYASHA (TV-PG) Kagome Higurashi is on her way to school when she is abruptly transported through an ancient well into feudal Japan. Surrounded by monsters and magic, Kagome reluctantly teams up with the half-demon InuYasha to recover the missing pieces of the Shikon jewel, a powerful magical gem that could cause disaster if it falls into the wrong hands. Okay, someone please point out the incorrect fact in the paragraph. Okay well...atleast it's not as bad as the one they had for SailorMoon So, just how many bowls of stupid did you have for breakfast?

I know that the catergory for the best is already up there, but what about the worst? Mamoru and Usagi(yeah, I know that's what the author wants but...) ChibiUsa and Mamoru (do the math people) Ash and Misty (it's just too hilarious) Someday somebody else besides me will call me by my stage name they will call me Dr.Worm-TMBG

Here's some more morbid coupling from thetwisted mind of me:love: Relena/Naraku(I'm so evil I sometimes scare myself) Nakago/Soi Miaka/Tamahome(as if they dont say it over and over!) Yui/Suboshi I know I have more somewhere. I just can't think of where. And if anyone wants to know why I don't think Tsukino Usagi and Chiba Mamoru should be together it's because I think she could do much better, like maybe...Seiya Kou? Ooh yeah I can't beleive I forgot about one of the best couples! Politics in entertainment isn't always such a bad thing. Need proof, watch Saturday Night Live or one of the late night shows. NOw politics and religion. that's where I draw the line. When you get congress reps saying things like certain religions should be banned from the military simply because they aren't what he knows and reverands interupting rituals. Then you have a political problem. Freedom of religion means freedom of all religions. No exceptions or excuses Christianity has Pagan DNA Out test driving my new broom, call back later

Childhood memories-funny stuff

I'm from Western New York State and we get enough lake effect snow to last us 'til the end of April (sometimes longer shhh! ) Well, on winter the snow got so high that my brother (he's three years younger than me) and I climbed up onto the roof of the shed and I talked him into jumping off. Yeah, that doesn't sound too bad, but I also got him to do that at the end of April when all that was left was mud.:wigout: Then there was the time we got bored and us and our friends decided to make this huge snowball. It ended up being bigger than us. However, the risk taking thing is more my brother's taste, I mean who else would try to jump from the top of one of those playground swingsets?:nervous: If you can't beat 'em join 'em. If you can't join 'em, bite 'em. If you bite 'em, make sure everyone has had their rabies shots There are three kinds of people in this world. Those who make things happen. Well, I was raised Catholic, but am learning more about the Pagan faith. So I guess beliefs are just how you look at things. I have two examples of this, Exhibit 1. a few weeks ago one of my husband's friends was over here between a field problem and a break and we got to talking about Halloween or Samhain (Sow-win) for those of you who practice. This guy wanted to know why we celebrated a holiday for when the veil between the living and the dead when there's reincarnation (funny thing for a person to ask when said person is Baptist) My reply was it depends on your path. Much like the difference between sects of CHristianity, there are different sects of Paganism. So while for some there is rebirth, others believe that we die and can be talked to. Example two happened on Tuesday when I was talking to a friend of mine on the phone who is also Christian. She told me that she would be praying for my husband when he went over to Iraq, even if he didn't think it would help. I explained that since it was positive energy being sent towards him, he'd stil receive it. Also, my husband doesn't believe in Hell, but that's another story all together.

I've never really liked DBZ. Maybe it was the NA opening. I always thought that the guy (purple looking I can't think of his name right now) sounded like Him from the PowerPuff girls. Sailor Moon is still at the top of my list-the dub was so bad it was almost funny at times. Like say-Unazuki asking Usagi-What's up Dawg? Also, when DiC would do the Sailor Says at the end of each episode did anyone notice that scenes which had been deleted from the show would pop-up like oh, maybe Umino (I'm obsessed with the U named characters!) getting smacked with a ribbon. I'm torn with the Gundam Wing Dub. Yes, they did end up changing Duo's name from Shinigami to The great destroyer, but atleast the voices weren't too scary and the animation wasn't completely chopped up. Hell, I can still watch the dubs without laughing at them! If you can't beat them, join them. If you can't join them, bite them. I'll reply to this if you reply to mine, fair enough? Gods, I feel like I'm on ff.net! I guess ppl cheat because they just have no sense of honor. I'm no psychologist, but I think that's the real reason. And who needs a person like that? Maybe i should just be glad that they didn't have gym uniforms like the ones in the anime! It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it's hilarious

Just a random question. What do you think is one of the worst dubs ever? Yu-gi-oh is one of my choices simply because the main character seems so young, yet has such a deep voice. That's also my opinion for Kohaku's VA in InuYasha However, SailorMoon's NA dub is the absolute worst I have ever seen. Terry Hawk scared me as Sailor Moon. The animation became chopped and the dialog was trashed beyond belief.

I think it's the same idea as Kagome's mom. he grampa's real name and the name of her school. It's open season for fanfic writers! Just as long as it's Japanese. I think I should try to find the site again, but I know I heard it somewhere. But, yeah, it's like when they said on CNN that
a main character in Harry Potter is going to be killed off
you should probably wait until the creator says so. Of course, I would ask how many times someone can be brought back from the dead. But then I have to remember all those Sailor Moon episodes and the fact that DiC never had the 'Negaverse' die off. So it's like, yeah if Rumiko Takahashi wanted to continuously
kill off and revive kikyo
she could do it and it wou;dn't look all that bad. okay, next question: Are Sango and Miroku ever going to get together and what happens with Kohaku? Ugokidasanakya hajimannai nayamidau to tomerannai hitoyo kagiri no yume ni amaeteitaku wa nai shi If we don't move, we can't start. If we worry, we can't stop. What kinds of strange things did we do as kids? examples: Five-I got a note sent home because I got into a fight with some girl My mom used to help out at her cousin's golf course and according to her I used to go around in my walker and say give me a buck or 'some' Then of course there's all the Barbie stories:laugh: Kitto kitto bokutachi wa ikiru hodo ni shitteyuku soshite soshite bokutachi wa ikiru hodo ni wasureteku Probably probably we learn as we live and then we forget as we live No More Words

Well, I turned 18 on the 24th of July- in
1999
( i love doing that now!) a month after I graduated from high school. The biggest difference it made for me was I had to fill out my voter's registration card and my friend ,Amanda, wanted me to buy her some cigarettes:p I didn't really feel like an adult until four days after I got married, I ended up moving down to Texas with my husband more than 1,000 miles away from my family and friends, half way across the country from everything I knew. Turning a certain age doesn't do anything for you, it's the experiances that you have during your life which will turn you into more of an adult than a child. Trust me, you move far away from your home and get stuck somewhere where you don't know anyone and you have to figure EVERYTHING out yourself, that'll make you grow up. Okay, now I feel really old. Someone get me a walker and some prune juice!:bawl: Freedom of religion means freedom of all religions. no exceptions or questions

Keh, well, let's see...I haven't been in high school for about five years. The job I had did require a uniform tho. Red shirt with yellow AVI logo and khaki pants with non-slip sole shoes (it smelled like cooking oil and other stuff by the end of the day):grumble: However, when I went to a private Catholic school which required a uniform of either a blue plaid skirt or navy blue pants (which my brother wore holes in) and a light blue, light yellow, or white button down(up?) shirt. Us girls could not wear tights, but we did have to wear those knee high socks in either white or navy blue and black shoes. In the winter we could wear a navy blue cardigan with NH embroidered in yellow (NH was for Nazareth Hall). The boys had to wear blue ties. The worst part tho was the gym uniform tho. We had these hideous mustard yellow shirts with the school crest in blue then the bright blue shorts with the school crest in yellow. DO you have any idea how scary that looks with knee high socks? ANd don't even get me started about trying to learn about paganism in a catholic school my junior year. Damn, do I wish I had a uniform like Kagome's unfortunately mine wasn't even as cool as Momo's. May the circle be open, but unbroken, may the peace of the goddess be added to your heart.
Originally posted by rttocs77 I think Micheal Moore is a jerk. He obviously lacks any class what-so-ever, considering that after winning his stupid Academy Award he takes up his speech time by critisizing the President. I don't have a problem with him if he goes on talk shows, etc... with the intention of talking politics, but I think he went too far. The ONLY things I hear comming from his mouth are critical comments about the President.
While yes, I did think Michael Moore is a jerk for getting up at the Academy awards and being a windbag about the president, he's only doing it to get a rise out of people because he just plain sucks at doing anything else. Besides, there was more of an uprise when the Dixie Chicks' lead singer made the comment about being ashamed that President Bush was from Texas. Sure, the areas where the comments were made were completely different, but nobody sent Moore death threats or burns his books. Neither comment was a good point for the president, but the different places and areas of entertainment where these people make their living is also different. The example I'll use is that the DC are primarily a country band and most ppl who listen to country music are extremely patriotic and at times a bit over the top which probably accounts for the extreme reaction. However, the lyrics that the Chicks sing have no real political vaule perhaps with the exception of Traveling Soldier, but you really have to be anal to find that. So maybe you can't get away from people and their political veiws, but sometimes you can get music that doesn't have anything to do with what the artist wants you to think. So basically what you're saying is InuYasha is like any other human male, a misguided fool?:babble: Personally I think InuYasha needs some kind of divine interventine on behalf of his love life. the dude is :confuse2:. I just hope this divine interventine doesn't happen to be in the cover of Miroku! Read at your own risk:faint:
besides I heard somewhere that Kikyo dies near the end of the series so she and InuYasha can't be together
Sometimes the military does make sense, then they decide to correct that mistake and move foward-a friend of mine who's in the army

My Barbies were shoeless homeless things who sometimes drove my mom's shoes around my bedroom. The closest they ever came to home was a carrying case. I've been around so long and emberassed myself enough for ten ppl! There was this one time in 11th grade when I was running to class and lost my shoe. It skidded to the door of my U.S. history class and I had to hobble (they were heels) to the class. I was trying out for the musical-Once Upon a Mattress and the guy I was trying out with kept saying yes yes yes and when it was my turn to say-well, I'm pregnant I couldn't stop laughing and then told him he was pregnant. A few months back I was going with one of my friends to find out what she had to do to get her GED and we were going up the steps I missed one and slid down the steps, and needed stitches on my chin. Yes ppl, I fell up the stairs.:stupid: there are three kinds of people in this world. Those who make things happen.
