If I can remember correctly,
Iroh's original voice actor, Mako, died in the second book. And they found actor Greg Baldwin to replace Mako either during the second book, but definitely for the third book. So, obviously, they could continue Avatar.
Click here for more avatar info
You're right he died during the final eps or just after they finished book three. I remember going through the voice credits in the Avatar shorts in the bonus DVD with Book two. Really you can hardly tell the difference unless you stop to think about it. Which is good because Iroh is probably one of the best two dimensional characters ever.
especially in book 3 during the day of the Black sun when he broke out of jail. Whoa man did he kick butt! Knocked the guard right out! Bam!
Yeah, I'm a big fan of Iroh. Anyone ever see that Tales of Ba Sing Se episode? Iroh's part made me cry

Manga What was your first manga?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Filipinorocker1's topic in Otaku Central
My very first manga was Sailor Moon and I used to love it. I even had nearly the entire set of 18 manga- that's about 1800 USD$ But then I got bored with it all. Tis a shame really since now the manga is worth a lot of money. Time for me to hit up Empire Comics! My second manga is the other old stand by Fushigi Yugi. Yeah I love shoujo manga with the cute guys. All the better to draw with. -
I'd say I have one word for you all, but this messageboard puts a lot of pressure on post quality, so I can't do that :( But anyways- Crayon Shin Chan- worst bloody anime ever! I've only seen previews, but I refuse to waste twenty-six minutes of my life that I can never get back. I already do that once a month. Another one of course is Pokemon- seriously it cannot take over a decade to catch them all! Even if you had to catch one plus all it's evolutions. I tried to watch it this morning with my daughter and immediately decided to go back to watching Full House on the ABC Family channel. That's how horrid it is now. I'll think of more later.
Now I have a ?, it may come off as stupid but does anybody know if they're planning on doing anything past book 4?
First of all there were only three books not four. For there to have been a fourth book the Air Nomads would have had to still exist. But that is an idea I've messed with in my head. Second your best bet is this site right here it's not an official avatar site, but they do have a lot of information on the series itsself. There is supposed to be a movie out in 2010- yeah next year, a year after the show is finished. And I've heard it's supposed to be live action. I really wish Nick would re-air the show right now since I've only got up to book 3 scroll 2 and am waiting for my tax refund or a full time offer from my per-diem job to purchase the final box set. The last two were kinda impulse buys that I could afford because I made about the same amount of money and had a lot of over time. A fourth season would be great though. They could do some stuff about Iroh and Zuko and see what happened to Azula after she totally lost her mind. Hope that helps

I just can't watch Hentai... or really porn of any kind real or animated. It makes me laugh too hard. Case in point one quiet evening in Texas back in 2003 (has to be Texas, I can't look at anything on here now. My daughter uses this computer): I ended up watching an episode of La Blue Girl on my computer. It not only confused me, I ended up falling out of my chair thanks to the bad dialog. For one thing I couldn't figure out why the guy who looks a lot like Death Knight's avatar... or that weird scard floaty guy from He-Man Masters of the Universe was checking out that one girl's camel toe. Another was this strange blonde squealing oh master make me your love slave to a blue demon. One line like that and I just can't keep a straight face. I can't watch real porn for a completely different reason- one that an ex boyfriend of mine hated. I kept asking out loud if the woman's boobs were real or fake or if she was faking it. Yeah, I just don't get the appeal. Maybe I'm wired wrong.
-
I personally LOVE Texas' take on the death penalty. (and no, that's not sarcasm) I believe it's something along the lines of: If you commit a murder, are convicted of it, and there was at least two witnesses, (it may even be one) it's the death penalty. There's no ifs, ands or buts about it. (I'm not even sure if you're allowed an appeal process) Basically it's a fast track to lethal injection. Last guy I heard who got the death penalty, was killed a few months after he was convicted. I like the death penalty in most cases. And eye for an eye, y'know? Who are we to decide who lives and dies? The real question is who are they to decide? Revenge is justice, but of course, that's just my opinion. Plus, the death penalty is necessary for a number of other economic reasons.... Why can't we go back to the old days where if you steal, we cut off your hands? They say it has something to do with cruel and unusual punishment, but killing for killing is the same thing and it still goes on. (Although I know there have been some prisoners on death row who've sued because it's cruel and unusual punishment) They deserve it. That's all I'm saying.
But the problem with the witnesses is what if these are false witnesses and they have it out for the guy.... You never know. Although I'm sure even in Texas they look things over. BUt still there are cases where innocent people are put on death row. I'm pretty sure that even in TExas you're allowed a few appeals. And everyone does that. And it ties up the courts. Plus there's more torment for the victim's family. In some instances like serial killers (see reasoning for this thread) and that jackass who killed his son because he had to pay child support (kinda makes me nervous to let my daughter go off with my ex because he hates having to part with 475$ a month) do deserve to die and this guy is obviously guilty. Also I believe Louisiana has the death penalty (ah, the South. Gotta love it) which makes me wonder why on earth the guy did it in the first place if he knew that killing his own child would mean he'd be killed as well. (Too bad they don't do the firing squad anymore eh?) You would think that the death penalty would be a deterant but I guess it isn't all the time. Maybe they should cut cable and stuff in the prisons. And institute some tortures, like watching Barney and friends and the old Barbie cartoons instead? It gets insurgents to crack. In other situations though I wonder if maybe the death penalty could be too hasty. I don't know if New York has reinstated it or not. But anyways there's this case from about a year ago where this woman was beat to death when she went to confront the woman who had attacked her daughter earlier in the day. (This happened two blocks from where my ex's mom lives) And it took a while to find anyone who may have done the crime because of this whole no Snitching policy some people have. Well a few months ago the RPD believes that they found two people responsible. However their families are insisting that the one guy has witnesses saying he was out of town. Yes, I do know that of course the families will insist that the people are innocent. But for all you know they could be. That's why I'm torn. As for the whole let God decide. I'm not touching that one yet. I believe in God, but I'm not about to force my beliefs on everyone. It's not my place. Besides, it's obvious that the killers took it upon themselves to be God. Doesn't it seem fitting that we should do the same?
You should work on finishing the manga series. It can be really touching at times and is very good overall. If I had tons of money I'd own: Tsubasa, Fruits Basket, Kodocha, Mars, and Fushigi Yuugi. I read all of those (For the most part.) Borrowed from my ex, friends, etc. I am poor too... and I need to budget for Vampire Knight.
I kinda cheated and read the last few volumes at the library. It was very touching. I loved
Sana and Akito's relationship at the end it was just adorble
I've never read Tsubasa. But my friend Titi loves Fruitsbasket- she says it's one of her favorites. Mars is another great one that I especially recommend. Didn't you
Love the little twists in Sei how he ended up killing himself because he found out about his mother's affair. BUt what was even better was all the stuff about Rei and Sei's mother. Now that was one twisted woman. I believe in one of the books I read she had ended up stabbing a neighbor's dog to death because it had bitten one of the boys. Then how she killed herself! Whoa!
Plus the motorcycle racing and Rei being a white knight to Kira was nice too. Finally Vampire Knight I haven't read it yet, but my friend Angel is in love with it. I bought her two of the books for CHristmas and peeked into them before I mailed them out. Too bad I'd bought four and five instead of one and two  Hmm, what Manga would I like to own? Imadoki! for one (the literal translation is Nowadays.) It's also by Watase Yu (one of the best Mangaka ever) which means that Tanpopo the main character looks a lot like Miaka and the other guy looks a bit like Tamahome. I'd also like to have Ayashi no Ceres yeah, another older manga/ anime, but still great. Drama and incest wee! As well as Instant Teen I read a few from the library and I thought it was kinda cool. Man I need to find it again. And also this Manwa (for those who may not know, Manwa is Korean manga) that I've currently forgotten the name of. Make that two manwa. One is about this girl who is tired of her brother being a moron so she's about to do something about it. The other is about some Vampire whose name is Michael, I used to buy it for my ex when he was in Iraq. Now I think I should find it again. Oh! I forgot one manga I have Code name Wa Sailor V Vol. 2 I only have it because it was cheap on Ebay and I wanted to see what it was all about. Though I can't read a word of Kanji. I also just wanted to get reaquainted with Naoko Takeuchi's artwork. Which come to think of it is part of the reason I only have volume four of Magic Knight Rayearth.

Put Down That Sea Kitten You Monster!
Nice pun, but you FAILED to recall that the majority of fish is in fact not sweet. Okay I am too lazy to think up a really good hey look title right now, so I'll just get right to it. Okay so I really got the idea from watching tonight's episode of Grey's Anatomy where in the end this Serial Killer was put to death by lethal injection.
Which is AFTER they saved him from a brain hemorage which is kinda stupid IMHO
but anyways it got me thinking why not just make everyone else think and re-hash an old subject with new members present? Good times to be had by all eh? Okays Death Penalty, should it be allowed? Is it really our right as humans to decide who lives and who dies? What does everyone think on this subject right now? Deep thoughts aside right now in New York state we have no death penalty just life imprisionment without parole. Which I guess isn't too bad until you consider that the state is in one of its worst deficites ever. And we have people in State prisons who have willfully murdered showing no remorse. And I'm not talking about killing an adult, I'm talking about murdring babies. But that said I'm torn. Do we really get to play God? What gives us that right? And what ever happened to good old public humiliation and maybe some nice branding? Okay well now it's getting late and I have to go to work in the morning which means I wake up at 5:30 to get to work at 7. I hope to get some good thoughts. And I hope not to get lost ciao.
I prefer to watch anime/movies in their original language, so it's subs for me. I don't like most anime dubbing, the voices just don't seem to fit, in my opinion. There are some anime that I like better in dubs, but normally I prefer subs. =P
Yeah that can be the case in some Anime. Like Kahaku in InuYasha. I don't know about the rest of you all but I thought his voive was way too deep for his character.

What's in my manga collection? Not much sadly. But let's take a look 1.) Ouran High School Host Club Vol. 1 and Vol. 6-10 I got this for Christmas from my friend's cousin. Where are volumes 2-5? In stores. I don't know why she insisted on getting me 6-10. First I was excited, but now I'm just confused. But it is a good way to see more of Mori Sempai and get into the story so I know what some of my friends are going on about. 2.) Mars Vol1-10 I started reading this one way back when they still made Smile Magazine The story was great and soon I was buying the manga. But I stopped either because I stopped being interested or I didn't have the money. However I did cheat and read the rest while sitting in Barnes and Noble. Maybe I should go find it on Amazon? 3.) Full Metal Alchemist Vol 1 The only reason I have this manga is because it came in a set with my 2 DVDs. 4.) Magic Knight Rayearth Vol. 4 I used to have all six, but I really don't know what happened to the rest of them. But I did love the anime and manga and maybe I can get them again some time right? 5.) Peach girl vol 1&2 4&8 then 1-5 of the 2nd half Like Mars I got into this Manga through Smile Magazine. There were some slight changes, but it's still good. Don't ask why I'm missing a few volumes. It's about the same reason I don't have all of Mars. Money and some disinterest. Oh yeah and I lost volume 2 I just don't know where. But I want to buy the rest and the 3 books of Sae's Story. 6.) Pokemon Vol 1 I have this one thanks to my ex and it's in Korean not English. 7.) Dragon Ball Z I forget which volume This is for the same reason I have the Pokemon manga (or really it's kinda Manwa... eh nope) and it's also in Korean 8.) Kodocha, Sana's Stage Vol 1&2 I just thought it was a cute Manga. Although Sana is quite mature for her age. I love all the cracks about her gigalo. 9.) Fushigi Yugi Vol 1 I know at one time I had more than just the one, but I don't know what happened. Probably moving or dogs. BuT I loved the story- I should go look for this on Amazon. I think that covers it

Okay I'll jump in. I say the egg came first because Dinosaurs came from eggs and chickens are closely related to dinosaur. Therefore by that reasoning the egg came before the chicken Yes I know not very detailed. But you'll forgive it because you love me right?

I don't know why but I want to say Bankotsu from InuYasha, except that InuYasha wasn't his show and I'm not sure if the Shinchin Tai were considered a season or just a quick story arc. Yeah that's probably wrong

I usually don't care except in the case of Sailor Moon, Magical Do Re Mi and Tokyo Mew Mew. But I don't really like the Magic Knight Rayearth sub because Pioneer translated Hikaru calling Umi and Fuu Umi chan and Fuu chan to Umi-ster and Fuu-ster. So yeah score one for the dub. I thought that the Naruto Dub was fairly decent. Okay yes I can go without hearing Naruto yell Believe It! In place of Databayou, but in my humble opinion the voices weren't nail on a chalk board or stab your ear drums bad and the storyline stayed the same. Another dub that has only slight aggrivations is Fushigi Yugi. Okay Miaka did grate on me as did Yue, but other than that it was pretty cool. Except for Chichiri. In the original Chichiri says no da a lot at the end of his sentances (one of the reasons he's just so darn cute) which doesn't have a direct translation (like Dattaibayou) and Pioneer translated that to 'ya know' which again got annoying. And another trivial fact on the dubbing of Fushigi Yugi was that a lot of Miaka's confusions (simular to Minako's constant mistransaltions and misunderstandings in Saillor Moon- like Breast Cleaning for Voice training and Looking for a place to eat when they were looking for the Messiah- because Messiah sounds like Meshia which is a place to eat) had to be explained more clearly. Like when Yue
Introduced Nakago as a foreign guy and Miaka misinterpreted what she said to be a forelorn guy
Good times. Right now I'm getting into Ouran High School Host club. I've only watched the dub and I like it. SO I guess I shoudl at least try the sub sometime.
Well, that's one way to beat the system =P
Yeah Rach! Way to stick it to the man! In my humble opinion the best way to avoid parental disaproval is to do the following: 1.) Watch your anime and read your manga in moderation. Then your parents can't say you're being obsessed. 2.) Use your own money to buy your stuff. 3.) Wait until you're an adult (yeah okay I'm only half joking) because when you're an adult your parents really can't say anything about what you're doing. Unless of course it's damaging your life or career. Paying Bills and working > watching anime 4.) Try introducing or talking to your parents to the anime you're watching or the manga you're reading. It didn't work too good with my mom (My dad didn't care) but it works great with my other friends parents. Yeah follow those suggestions and you may be able toi convince your parents that Anime isn't that bad.

Okay so basically the US threw a party for their new president who is their very first African American president. Yes we're in a recession. (We've been in one for about eight months now) And everyone is watching thier money. So yeah, it was a big expense, but it was also a big deal That said, once one of the other countries on this board gets their very first non white or female Prime Minister (Okay so England needs their first non white PM, but the rest of you... well you know) you all can go ahead and celebrate any way you wish.
Ah the weather..and it sucks in Ohio right now.
Ohio and I just don't get along. Especially the weather. The first time I drove through there in 2002 on my way to Texas it poured on my way from South Cleveland and my car broke down twice on I-71. Then driving back up to New York from Texas in 2005 I hit a blizzard that didn't exist in Kentucky or New York! I hit an icy patch on I-71 again and went spinning with my daughter who was six months old at the time and ended up facing the wrong way right next to the median. Yeah I will make it my life goal to never drive in Ohio again. Now me I love the warm weather, but not too warm. Just warm enough where you can wear shorts and a t-shirt, but not sweat like a pig and get swamp *** (my brother's word not mine) I didn't do too well when I lived in Texas because their idea of a mild summer is only hitting 110F (approx 40C) or higher twice a week. Plus the humidity in central Texas can kill ya. When my dad was in the Air Force near San Antonio they'd suspend PT because it got too hot out. I probably wouldn't be too good in Pheonix eiether. I was there back in 2003 in May and they 'celebrated' their first day over 100. And this was in EARLY May! Nope I love my warm weather, but I also love breathing.:animeswea Another type of weather I like is thunder storms. One thing I did like about living in Texas was the fact that every other night in Summer we had huge thunder storms that the ones in New York couldn't hold a candle too. The lightening was so close the hair on my arms stood on end. It was great! Plus no tornados- wee.

Well not only am I watching the inaguration I'm also sitting at my computer near the window and watching the snow as it falls as it's been doing for the last four hours and cursing the fact that I have to go to work soon. Watching these large flakes fall though has brought me to this thread idea. What is your favorite and least favorite types of weather. And seasons too I guess. Okay it's not a well thought out plan, but it's better than complaining about the weather eh? As for myself, I like snow as long as I don't have to go out in it, which usually doesn't happen. I'm usually out in it. I've had to drive in the last 3 blizzards we've had in the past 2 years. But what I like is warm sun... which I don't get much of in Rochester and I'll get even less of in Seattle. :animecry: But it's a chance i have o take. So everyone else?
In the UK and Australia for instance, our Prime Ministers don't receive such enormous pageantry - that is really reserved for the Queen. I wonder what we might do in the absence of a Queen.
It's the same in Canada James. The Queen or one of the other royals comes here (and even though Canada has been independant since 1918 she is considered the Queen of Canada) and everything is crazy (same in the US for some reason) but frankly I don't think they really care much about the Prime Minister unless it's that he'll finally step down. As for the inaguration, I'm watching it with my daughter right now (off of work til 3PM EST!) because it's a rather big occasion. Yes it's a rather exhorbant cost. But some people need to take into effect that soon to be president Barack Obama has received a lot more death threats than Bush so the biggest cost is for security. If you remember back in November two men were arrested for a plot to assasinate then president elect Obama. THere's still a lot of stupid people in this country and there are people who do want to carry out on these threats. For sobbing out loud though, it's history. The resident director got bawled out yesturday because the family memeber was told by his mom that they weren't watching the inaguration (uh hello, like she'd remember it anyway?) so even people who won't remember it ten minutes after are watching it. They even changed Lunch to 1pm. I'd continue, but I need to go out and get gas before the inaguration, and maybe some McDonald's
