1.
Well twelve months on my most hoped for present is still a Sony PS3 but since my brother and I have been in university since Autumn it's going to be a rather frugal Christmas this year. Mostly I'm hoping for money just to cover expenses of moving in January and put some cash away for a rainy day (the illustrious PS3 savings fund). Damn I hate being a penniless college student...
Gaving I feel your pain. I'm a single parent with a single income (is that redundant?) and the company that owns the assisted living facility where I work has suddenly decided to cut down on over time (ie: no more over time and we're short on people some days.) Plus I have 30$ taken out a week for benefits (yes the joys of living in America) So I'm trying to get a part time job and I still have my parents to pay for all the car repairs from the past year and a Target bill. Okay okay yes I got a lot of gifts for my daughter and most of my shopping is done, but I have 2 gifts to buy and some non Christmassy stuff to do and my out of town friend's gifts to ship and I've no funds to do so. Hey! I've got an idea! Let's set up the Irish Members Fund! Your generous donations will help fund the holidays of the Irish members of the OB!Please give what you can and Merry Bloody Christmas
2.
Come to think of it, I should probably get a new acorn. Mine's so old it's probably a tree by now.
I got an acorn for Christmas last year and yeah shock and awe I haven't used it yet. Yeah I can't seem to figure out how to hook it up to my piglet. And I'm bummed out too because there are so many sins I want to download.
3. I know I should have asked this earlier. But if "sin" has been removed from the dictionary does that mean I don't have to go to confession anymore?
4. To put it bluntly CPS should be called immediately because your fiancee's sister is endangering the welfare of her children and this "man's" children as well. Reguardless of the fact that it's really no one's business who she's dating. It becomes someone's business when small children are involved- or children in general. It's your responsiblity as an adult and the future uncle of these children to get something done immediately. In fact CPS is going to wonder why something wasn't done sooner. To be honest if this woman has time and effort invested in this guy it'd be next to impossible for her to see his [Many] faults with help. Sometimes it's easier to see what's wrong when you bring it to her attention. And of course if you're going to bring up all the bad stuff on the 'love of her life' then of course she's going to shut down. But who cares? She's an adult who is making her decisions no matter how bad those decisions are. Your main concern should be the kids. Do something about them first then concentrate on the mess your soon to be sister-in-law has become.
5.
So? I have a fake tree, too. To tell you the truth, I rather like fake trees better than the traditional ones. That is all. :catgirl:
Yes economically it's a great investment. Also it's nice that you don't have to poke yourself in the eye with a needle every time you go to plug in the lights and you can adjust the branches. But I miss going out to find a tree (even in the snow and cold of upstate New York) and that fresh pine smell. It's almost as bad as when I lived in Texas and didn't even get a tree!
6.
Actually Chibi in French "retard" translates to refer to "being late" or "lateness" depending on the context. Nice that my six years of high school French can still come in useful.
Oops my bad. Hey in my defense I took Spanish. I don't even speak butchered French unless I go into Montrèal and even then it's not Continental french it's Frances de Quèbec. Which is fake french.
7. I'm wondering if they removed Sin becase they needed room for something more flashy like Sin-a-liscious. Sorry that was just bad. I won't do it again. But really why are they removing words from the dictionary when people are still using them? Isn't that a bit retarded? And by retarded I mean from the french meaning half formed.
8.
Your banner says "Yes, I'm Irish. Kiss Me and I'll Break Your Face", don't spend too much time on that application...:P.
And just who are you to piss in my Froot Loops? IF I want to apply for Sainthood I can. I mean I'm Catholic so I should still be allowed to do it. Nya And BTW Sis, I'm giving you an Easybake Oven and a small fire exstinguisher for Christmas.
9.
The other day, as my family and I were decorating the tree, I thought about something. We all know the song O, Christmas Tree and as I was playing it the other day while reading the lyrics, it seemed as if it were being worshipped. I know this is strange, but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to know. I mean, why is it that we decorate the tree? Why is it a tradition? And why does it have to be that kind of tree? So, what do you think?
Well I could just recite crap off of Wikipedia or I could envy the fact that you don't have a child begging her pop to go get the fake tree but I won't. And yes fake tree. My parents both drive compact cars now so we can't go and get a real tree anymore- way to bring my childhood memories to a screeching halt! :animecry: The tree decorating was brought to America by German immigrants in the mid nineteenth century. The tree itsself dates further back. The evergreen is used because of older pagan religions that have something to do with... damn I forget. BUt there are traditions. And reasons. Like why we celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December even though it doesn't make much sense because the Bible says that 'Shepards were watching their flocks by night' and why would they be out in the winter? That I can tell you- it's because during the birth of Christianity when Christians were trying to peacefully convert the Pagans. You see in many Pagan traditions you have the Winter Solstice which is celebrated on the 21st of December and represents the rebirth of the sun. Some early Christians decided to tell some early Pagans that they were celebrating wrong. At least this conversion was peaceful. And I'm tired and lazy so I can't look up anything else now. Ciao!

14. And one of you all couldn't tell us first? The nerve of it all. Okay kidding. This is great news. Hey Indi, make sure the ring is real so if it doesn't last you can make a killing on Ebay. Again kidding. By the way.... still don't exactly know who either of you really are, so don't expect a wedding gift. :animeblus
15. Wow, way to re-vive a thread. Since I haven't posted in this thread in two years or so (and we have new members and even our older members have changed here) I guess it's time for an update on who I am. Me llamo es: Megan. It's of Celtic origin and is pronounced phonetically Soy es una madre, mi hija es.... ugh why am I doing this again? And parts of it are in SPANISH! I'm a single mom and I have have 4 year old girl. I'm just totally stressed by Christmas shopping and in 45 minutes I'll be working. Right now I am currently employed at a senior living community for residents who have alzheimers or demensia. I used to be a home health aide. Actually I just applied for a per-diem job with The Jewish Home of Rochester to do that again. Fun! Let's see as you all can see I live in Rochester. I'm also dating a guy. His name's Lee aand I've been with him for almost 2 years. I like reading, drawing and writing. I don't really like driving that much anymore since I have had to do so much of it. I also hate paying bills and my sonofabeyotch ex who thinks our daughter got her 'I hate this job' rant from either my mom or I and had the nerve to yell at my mom about it last night. Let's see.. I have a sister-in-law and a brother. My brother has a dog and I don't have one anymore because my dad put it to sleep while I was at work. Yeah I'm going to post this. Then see if anyone else re-posts again.
16. Well I read the article. It;s nice to know that he won't be going to one of the nice prisons. 2.18$ a day! shittake mushrooms... Life's gonna suck for him!
17. Well I want a cat too. But ever since I had to get rid of my other one for peeing on everything my parents (yes it's a bad economy and I live with my parents at the ripe old age of 27) don't want any more fur bearing creatures for the time being. So that said I want the following: Some more sweaters and long sleeve t-shirts- I live in New York and it gets cold THe LOL cats book- I saw it in Barnes and NOble last week and it was cute and funny Some funny socks A brown leather purse- I just bought a bronze metallic one tonight and I have 3 brown fabric ones in varying shades of brown, but I still would like a brown leather one Ouran High School Host Club- All my friends are watching it World Peace (oops this goes in my application for Sainthood) Music, jewlry and nailpolish- you never go wrong with those things Sneakers- I need them despite the 40 pairs of shoes in my closet I have more, but I'm tired. Can I have a raise for Christmas?
18. Darren FIrst of all my deepest sympathy with you and your family. Losing someone is hard enough but losing someone near the holidays is positively horrendous. I'm sorry... and sorry is quite honestly the sorriest word ever invented. It comes around too late to do anything. That said oh so eloquently
Ever had one of those weeks, where you either just want to sleep or scream very loudly at innocent babies to make yourself feel better? (Okay, maybe not as far as screaming at babies, but definitely screaming at something)
I had three years of that- it's called a divorce. :animeswea But if you want to know of a week that makes you want to scream- this one has been a real hoot. Sunday was pretty easy at work, Yeah I stayed a bit after but no biggy Monday was utter hell. A GI virus is starting to go through one side of the building and two residents puked a lot and got sent out with pnuemonia. So they had four people on one side of the building dealing with that and I was on the other side holding down the fort because no one over there was that bad- only 2 people and no one was puking thank God. But there was a lot of laundry to finish. And I'm only one person so by the time 11PM rolls around I go into the breakroom and tell the new woman (who I knew from like 3 years ago from previous jobs) about the fact that all hell broke loose and we had two people sent out to the hospital. Her response was a real snotty well it's your job to do the laundry not mine. Christ sake. She's over night and the residents are asleep what does she think she can do with her time? I do over nights too and we do laundry- I'm 3-11 and I have residents who are awake sorry I have other things to do. But no I just walk. Tuesday was boring, so we'll just jump to Wednesday where we had more of the crazy and the GI virus. I also helped out the new LPN so I didn't get a break. Oh yeah and I was also helping other residents on the other side of the building because that's just how I am. So the same woman from Monday comes in and says that if there is any laundry on her side and it was my job to do the laundry she isn't doing it because it isn't her job and she doesn't get paid for it. And if it is mine it means I'm not doing my job and she's calling the RN. Well I got mad and said, that I had residents to take care of for most of my 8 hours and she can go ahead and call the RN. Thursday I caught the GI bug and was hugging the toilet then hugging a trashcan because I coldn't just hug a toilet. Today was annoying because that woman from MOnday and Wednesday had to make some comments about me not doing my work and being lazy. SO we had to do peer mediation where she lied and said that I refused to do rounds with her or help other people with their residents. If I was twenty years younger I'd cut off her hair and feed it to her, but since this is the adult world I'll just wait for her to get herself fired.
19. This is just going by the theory that since Caturdays, LOLMembers and Political Captions have been popular that maybe having some celebrity and character captions will hit it off as well. To try and prove this theory I'll start off with this picture (because Star Wars references are always filled with win) and hope this works:
20. Okay maybe not funny. BUt since Caturdays has the holiday spirit and I saw this picture I just had to caption it: Hope it at least gets a chuckle
21. Keeping with Indi's theme: And just because we haven't done basement cat in a few posts: Ciao tutti
22. Well I was watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the one with Jim Carey) and heard Where Are You Christmas by Faith Hill... So now it's in my head and I need to go find it on Youtube. Maybe someday I'll actually dig through holiday music. I really want to find Osama got run over by a Reindeer
23.
CHW, that was the most perfect, witty, hilarious exchange of dialogue I have ever had the pleasure of reading. (Translation= lol.)
Glad you liked it. Too bad this year all he gets is normal gift boxes. Now as for my cousin... I think he deserves the box this year hehehe:catgirl:
24.
And wow, tickets for a church? Is it to raise money or is it just a really big church, Chibi?
It's not a big church. And it's not to raise money. It's just that the 3:30 mass does a Christmas pagent for the kids so it's really popular and therefore really crowded. A few years ago I went to the Christmas eve mass and had to spend it sitting on the floor because the huge Italian families took all the ruddy seats! So since last year the church has been sending out tickets and the first certain amount of people who send their tickets back get to go to the 3:30 mass As for Christmas memories I have a good one from last year. Last year I gave my brother 3 boxes of microwave kettle corn and a box of cookie crisp cereal all wrapped up. Then I handed him another box that I'd wrapped his shirt up it. He unwrapped it, but instead of a regular gift box I'd put his shirt into a Victoria's Secret gift box. My brother looked at me and said: Out of all the boxes in the world why did you have to use this one? My reply: Well John, I didn't have all the boxes in the world, I only had this one. It sure beat the time I gave my ex husband a toque wrapped in an empty panty liner box. He had no comment on that one. In fact I think he was ticked off.:animeswea Shame really- but I'm glad we're divorced since he has no sense of humor
25. I love when other Chibis on here listen to me... or at least make new threads I want to visit. Christmas plans. Well for one I will be going to Church I just don't know if it's on Christmas eve where you have to get a ticket (yes I am being serious) to the 3:30 Mass or Christmas Day. The reason I say this is because I don't know if I work Christmas day or not yet. The RN is now doing the schedules so eh... yeah. Christmas eve we'll have dinner at my parent's house then Christmas Day we'll have the get together at my mom's parents and open presents. Christmas Day will also involve my daughter opening her gifts from 'Santa' I hope she likes the stuff I got her. Because I kinda went overboard and spent about 200$ or so. I dropped 56$ at the Children's Place alone! The Sunday before Christmas will be the Donnelly family Christmas which is friggin huge. My dad is one of seven children who are mostly married- or dating and they all have kids some of them are married or at least have kids. So it's crazy and we rent out a shelter at a local park. We also rent out a Santa and get it catered along with desserts, This year I have to make like 3 trays of Rice Krispee Treats and bring soda. Hey, since we're on the subject can we do favorite Christmas memories here or should we do a new thread for that? PS Anomoly watch out for those Boxing Day Stampedes. My boyfriend says people go crazy n the big cities on Boxing Day
