1.
The part that disgusts me most is that shoppers continued to shop even after they were asked to leave becuase of the worker's death.
They covered this story today in the State section of my local paper (I'm in upstate New York for those not in the know) according to reports shopper not only kept on shopping after they were told that someone DIED they whined about how they'd been in line for hours! Babies! Oh and now according to a report on my local news union reps are saying that WalMart was negligent and that this could have been prevented
2. Again for the mom cats on this board: You know it's true
3. I'm reading that story and I heard about it yesturday on Good Morning America and I'm just sickened. It's bad enough that our economy is in the toilet but pushing and shoving at people just to get a bargain is barbaric. When in our society did we suddenly decide to forgo manners and courtesy and just mow people down to save a few bucks? And for what? Just look at what these people did to someone else's family for the sake of shopping just so they could have a cheaper more material Christmas. It's just digusting. I hope these 'people' do get justice properly served to them. As for simular stories my mom was knocked to the ground on year on Black Friday. It was the year Cabbage Patch dolls were really popular and this store Toys R Us was having a few deals on them. My mom had gone for something else and got knocked over- she's 4'11 and kinda tiny. My Black Friday experiances have been few and far between because I usually work on that day. Or I'm too tired to bother playing line backer just to save a few Loonies or Dollars or whatever currancy I'm using at 5 in the morning. Last year I went shopping on Black Friday at 10PM after my last assignment and even though there were still people in the stores it wasn't as hectic and I still managed to save some money. This year I only went to Big Lots on a break with a co-worker of mine because she wanted something and the store had run out. I think this year I'll skip out on Boxing Day too, I don't want to be run over by a Canuck :animeswea
4. I love when a thread is re-visited and it's one that I haven't posted in since I was married- it makes me think- damn I've changed in three years. :catgirl: That said I've found some new music that I like- even though I do still like Broken I can't help it that my boyfriend seems to think it's our song. One of my new favorites with beautiful Lyrics is Ojos de Cielos (Eyes of Heaven) The spanish lyrics are in italics and the english translations are in plain text Juegan los momentos Heridas sin palabras Heridas con palabras Sin apenas decir nada The moments play Wounds without words Wounds with words After hardly saying anything Apenas dices nada Y nada es suficiente Piensa que es demente Hacer caso a la gente You barely say nothing And nothing is enough (He) thinks it's stupid (crazy) To pay attention to people CHORUS: ------------------------------- Y yo Si tu no estas Ya no se estar And me If you are not around I do not know how to exist Perdóname Si alguna vez Te hice llorar, ojos de cielo Perdóname Si alguna vez Robe de tus labios un te quiero Perdóname, perdóname Forgive me If once I made you cry, heavenly eyes (sky eyes) Forgive me If once I stole from your lips an I-love-you Forgive me, forgive me ------------------------------- Sigo tus pisadas Aunque a veces me pierdo Me pierdo en mil preguntas Y siempre acabo huyendo Porque salir corriendo Si te llevo aquí adentro Hoy te hecho de menos Pero es que tengo miedo I follow your steps Even though sometimes I lose myself I lose myself in a thousand questions And I always end up fleeing Why go off running If I have you here inside (inside my heart) Today I've ignored you But it's because I'm scared CHORUS: Hoy aunque estés lejos, sigo aquí Sabes que no puedo, no sin ti Today even if you're far away, I remain here You know that I can't, not without you After that the first verse and the chorus are repeated. I think it's a really nice song.
5. My daughter stole my turkey off my plate numorous times. Then I got to work just to find out that I didn't have to go to work which really cheesed me off. Then they did it again last night which led me to go have a beer with a co-worker and watch Saturday Night live at her house. So... when do we start talking about Christmas?
6.
Since it's that time of year again... I've whipped out the Christmas stuff by Mannheim Steamroller. Right now it's playing Hallelujah I'm just sorry that their tour doesn't include SLC this year. Going to their concert last year was just amazing.
Well you can always hit up Rochester, Lord knows they pretty much come here every year for some reason. WHy I don't know- we aren't even that big. And on that note I'm listening to a mixed CD with P!ink, Avril Lavigne, PAramore and JoDee Messina on it to just name a few- I don't want to get into the Christmas spirit just yet... even if I have written out about 20 Christmas cards.
7. I dance like I'm drunk and i don't drink. Any experiance with me dancing is a worst dance experiance. Like tonight when my daughter's babysitter had a Thanksgiving party... my dancing was pretty damn sad tonight.:animeswea Other bad experiances include most of my senior prom, my wedding and the Signal Corps Ball. I didn't do too bad dancing at my cousin Erin's wedding- but then there was an incident with a killer bouquet. :animesigh I just can't win
8.
Did anyone watch the Macy's parade this morning? The Foster's float rickrolled America with the actual Rick Astley on live television. I was laughing so hard when that happened.
Sadly I was sleeping through that since i only got home from work at 7:20 this morning. But I did watch the National Dog Show and part of Barbie and the Diamond Castle before going to my aunt's for dinner... hmm I wonder if there's a youtube clip.
9. Because it's Thanksgiving Day here in the US and I just can't let this thread go and die without at least one turkey picture... Bush pictures excluded.. This turkey looks about ready to just die from emberassment, he missed his target.
10. Yeah, I lied, I said I wouldn't be here til tomorrow.... But anyways keeping with the Thanksgiving theme: I'm trying to get my daughter to do this now... maybe she will after her tantrums And this doesn't happen at my Thanksgiving dinners now because my mom's side of the family is small and now the only kid there is my daughter. But wait a few years eh?:animeswea Happy Thanksgiving ya'll
11. Dearest from InuYasha. The CD my friend burned for me has been spinning in my car since Sunday night. I only stopped it to tell a friend I almost hit a guy on I-90. But I only almost hit him because he decided to play in traffic. I don't think the dog show after the Macy's Day Parade counts as listening... or does it?
12. Well first off I'm biased because my daughter has an 'A' name too. So I voted for Amaya- it sounds prettier than Stephani. Maybe you can have Stephani for a middle name. Second. Congratulations. But watch out because stuff for girls is addictive- cheap if you know where to go- but addictive. I know this for a fact because pretty much every time I go out I see something to get for my daughter. Now I have to go read a story to my Abigail then go to work. :animesigh
13. Anyone want to go to my daughter's babysitter's for an after Thanksgiving party? I can't go because I have to go back to work. BUt my mom is going. She'll have prizes and snacks. I even made cupcakes- but since my car was in the shop today and I needed sleep and it was raining/snowing they have Tinkerbell wrappers on them. BUt hey, I think they're just as festive as ever. :animesigh Oh and as for left overs. I'm hoping my mom makes her stuffing so I can share that with a couple I used to take care of. Other left overs will be taken to work on Friday because I have a sixteen hour shift on Black Friday. Saturday... oh Saturday will be fun because I do the monthly 1/2 hour visit with my daughter's other grandma in a house that smells like stale cigarettes and cat err... leavings :animeswea. But after that it's McDonald's and the Strong Museum.
14. Okay I have to go back to bed for about two hours because I have to work the over night at 'The Home' before coming back to sleep for a few hours then doing Thanks Giving. But first I have to ask this question, what are you thankful for? I know that tomorrow in the US and last month in Canada we all got up around a table and said we're thankful. But you know what, why not here on the messageboard too? You can be as sarcastic (ie: I'm Thankful I'm not you) or as resumè for sainthood as you want. But I'm just curious what everyone is thankful for this holiday season. As for myself, I'm thankful that I have parents to help me pay for car repairs. And I'm thankful that I have a boyfriend who is really sweet and stuff. Oh and I'm thankful that I will get some sleep and some family time before going back to work tomorrow. I'll be back Friday night so I want to see more replies by then. Ciao!
15.
Now that would be fun. Playing darts with something like that would be amusing. Might even be worth the money spent to buy the silly thing.
You know you can probably make your own. My brother did because someone from the NYS GOP sent my grandma (who has been dead for like two years) a picture of G.W. Bush to remind her to vote (because you know as well as I do that dead people vote) and my brother took the picture and taped it to his dart board. Worked out pretty good actually
16.
Oh... lol It's not that kind of being excited/nervous. My family doesn't drink and I'm not worried about her being alone with any of them. She's more than capable of taking care of herself (and I'm not just saying that since she's a member here). It's more a case of well, just wondering how they'll get along. That and I don't usually bring someone along when I do get to go home. I do have a pretty sane family though, well as sane as any family can get. =P Thanks for the advice just the same.
Oh I wasn't worried that they'd do anything to her. I was thinking more along the lines of them saying things to her about you that you would rather they just leave unsaid. Like how my boyfriend knows about some dumb thing I did when I was like ten thanks to my mom because I let them talk to eachother. Plus the alcohol is a natural vocal lubricant. Trust me any family as sane as they can be can still manage to emberass you. Okay so most of you probably don't have a (former) mother-in-law who got herself pissed (drunk) at your wedding reception or a grandma (may she rest in peace) who engages in pro-life demonstrations and tells people how terrible it is that Muslims don't know about Jesus. But everyone has family who will inadvertantly emberass them at one point or another. So just nod and claim that you're adopted and it'll all be over soon.
17.
What makes this year special is my girlfriend is going with me. I'm both excited and nervous about her meeting my parents and siblings.
Just hide anything that could be used as incriminating evidence and try to get your family to avoid alcohol at all costs. Also make sure that your girlfriend isn't alone with any family memebers who would say anything less than favourable about you. If that doesn't work become an orphan.
18.
I haven't seen them TC but I'm not surprised that they made them so quickly. Just more useless junk that we don't need. I'd rather not have anything with someone's face on it staring up at me from my plate. XP
Yeah I know Rach. Now if it was a dart board with either Bush or Cheney's face on it (or maybe something cool and interchangable like that) I'd be all over something like that. OKay totally off topic, one of my closest friends voted for the old man and the moose killer! Albany has finally warped her mind! But I still wuv her.
19. Got my new one! Yay! And I think I got the tags to work! Wee! I died laughing the first time I watched this one. I love P!nk... yes I did type that.
20.
Made of win.
Well Gavin in Bush's defense he's not Catholic he's Anglican or something... That said:
21.
My dad will probebly make turkey, stuffing, deviled eggs, and all the other traditional thanksgiving foods. My mom is diffrent, I think she's making tacos and burritos, lol. She makes really good Mexican food.
Hey can I come to your mom's for dinner? My family does turkey and home made cranberry sauce. And my mom makes some good stuffing. It has breakfast sausage in it. Yum.
22. Okay let's see if I'll get this right Preferred Method of Chat: YIM or AIM (YIM: Chibi_horsewoman AIM: CrazyKaliGirl81) Preferred Time(s) of day, in GMT: between 0430 to 0600 GMT (2330-0100 EST) but sometimes I'm home and on around 0130 GMT (2130 EST) Preferred Day(s) of the week (in GMT): Friday, Saturday or Sunday. But Saturday is usually the best bet since I hardly work mornings on Sundays I have a feeling I got this right. It looks like we may just have a few chats going on if not one large one.
23. I have to do this one because Tim Russet was a Buffalo native and I live an hour from there.
24.
This sounds fun! And I just got an AIM thing yesterday! AIM: chibi master 1 WHO KEEPS TAKING 'CHIBI-MASTER' IN ALL THE PLACES I TRY TO SIGN UP FOR, DANGIT?!:animeangr
I just added you so feel free to run and hide.
25.
Just wondering - did you guys ever actually have the chat? Either way, I'd love to do one again if all of you are still up for it. I'm never on OB anymore, but a chat would be a great way to get to know y'all. I have a few ideas in mind for planning and such if you'd like to have one.
Not that I know of. It would be ncie if we had one soon. But not this weekend. I'm going to be out of town and can't get to a computer. Maybe we could have some kind of Holiday Theme chat. Also, I still think it's best to add your AIM/ YIM handle to your post just in case people are too lazy to check your profile. (CrazyKaliGirl81 )
