Pam Tillis All This Love Yes CHW listens to country. To be more exact at this very moment I'm listening to Mandolin Rain followed by Sunset Red and Pale Moonlight I bought this CD (at a used book store in one of the local libraries for 2$) because of the song The River and the Highway that I heard on the radio back in February and decided I really liked the song, but didn't know if I'd be willing to spend full price on one song (just for reference- I got the Flogging Molly CD from my ex-husband since he left it in our daughter's stuff after a visit and never asked for it back :animesmil) I'm really thrilled with the whole CD. Betty's Got a Bassboat though... well hey it is a country CD
That'd be great except I don't want Shahllen busting in and stupiding up the place while we're trying to talk. :p Like everyone else is saying, though. Scheduling it in AIM or something of the like isn't a bad idea. Probably our best bet, in fact.
I second that motion. I already have AIM and it's an quto log in. We could probably do a few days of group chats too just to make sure that everyone can make at least one of them.
Ah, Retri, that makes more sense. Your earlier comments suggested that informed women in general could not vote for Palin. This makes more sense. Anyway, a lot of conservative commentators have suggested that the candidacy of Palin will somehow woo Hillary supporters. I think that this assertion is inherently sexist, because it implies that women do not think critically about political issues. I am sure there are people who will vote on the basis if gender or race, but I'd say that the majority if people are interested in actual policies (I'd hope so anyway!)
I would hope that no informed woman would vote for Palin, but alas not everyone is me. Moving on- I've never cared much for the GOP or for conservatives. Especially since now they seem to think that throwing a candidate with two 'X' chromosomes and an eye twitch will win over women voters who are unhappy with Clinton's loss despite the fact that Palin is a complete 180 turn from Clinton and not even a quarter of a debator that Clinton is. To me who I'll vote for in November has nothing to do with race or gender. I'm upset that Hilary didn't win but I wouldn't have voted for her because she's a woman I would have voted for her because she's the better candidate in my opinion. I'm insulted by the Republican party's assumption that women would rather vote for a woman than a man. As someone else said in this election the vice president is more important this time around given McCain's age. So if he were elected and God Forbid he died in office- Palin would be our president... and we'd be screwed royally
My bad, I read that too quickly. If there is one thing I like about Palin it's that it got so many people intereted in the presidential race again.
Yeah same here. Well that and that Sarah Palin makes a great Tina Fey impersonater. Or is that supposed to be the other way around?

Sexuality: What's right or wrong?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to chibi-master's topic in General Discussion
Okay, a certain group of Christians mind. I remember you saying that don't hate the relegion, hate the person practicing the religion.......hope i'm not using hate too freely. i think they should let same sex couples marry(although it's wrong) because they are Americans as well, and everyone has their rights, it's still wrong though.........when you say it's clear that I'm doing that, what are you referring to?
Sorry I'm concentrating more on winding down for the night (nearly 12AM here and I have to work at 7AM) I meant that you don't care and that a person's sexual preferences don't change your opinions on the person. I just don't understand why people think it's wrong to allow same sex couples to marry. Usually it's argued that marriage is for procreation just like sex. But what about couples who don't intend to have children or people who are married and can't have children? I'll have more of an argument tomorrow. I swear it! -
Sexuality: What's right or wrong?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to chibi-master's topic in General Discussion
I don't really think of it as Christians being intolerant. We mind, but that doesn't mean we agree and as I've said before, we're trying to help people not go to Hell, but since that's a totally different thing............as for the judging thing, saying someone's way of life is wrong, that's not judging. Judging is when you say that someone who's ways are wrong(in your mind) makes them either disgusting or not to be treated like you would treat someone else who's ways are right(in your mind). Thinking someone is wrong and categorizing them as bad people are totally different things. i have friends who curse like crazy, are bisexual and think that writing on the ceilings of buses is funny. but guess what? they're still my friends, and i think they're awesome. When you say worrying over what others are doing and not getting your own lives in order, no one's perfect and isn't it a very big chance that someone does have their own lives in order or are trying to get their lives in order by testifying?
I don't think it's fair to say that Christians mind. Maybe some Christians mind, I could care less about someone's sexual preference. It doesn't change what I think about the person- yes i know it won't change most people's views. And that whole judge not lest ye be judged I go by that too. Along with 'Let he who is without sin throw the first stone' and 'The greatest gift of these is love'. Every religion teaches about love it's up to the practitioners of the religions to decide if they want to go with those teachings or not. And it's clear that you're doing that. My big thing is why are so many people up in arms about defining marriage between a man and a woman and making it so same sex couples don't have the same rights to argue over china patterns and place settings as 'traditional' couples. I think gay people should have the same chances to be just as miserable as straight people. -
That would be an opinion and not a summary of said debates. And it would also be mean spirited, unworthy, and based largely on the popular zeitgeist of the day, not on any actual evidence. If you could possibly clarify your stance with: "I think she's unintelligent and unfit to be a vice president" that would be helpful. But since I can already imagine your stance to be the stance so many of the moderately snobbish or otherwise elitist I think I'll spare myself and say this: Sarah Palin just shot Joe Biden between the eyes and made him look a fool on national television. And did he not have it coming?
And how was that not mean spirited and unworthy? Govenor Palin didn't shoot Senator Biden between the eyes. She just kept shooting out the same words she's been saying for the past few months when she wasn't throwing in catch phrases. She is inexperianced at best and downright dangerous at worst. I would not want her in the White House as second in command. I especially wouldn't want her in a meeting with foreign leaders constantly winking at them like some kind of bubble head. Say what you like about Senator Clinton, at least she didn't keep winking at everyone when she was talking like she had some kind of nervous tick. In polls alone she didn't impress most of the American people as a whole. She sure didn't impress me with the way she dodged every question handed to her because she didn't want to answer it. That was foolish. I think Biden did a rather nice job last night at the debate and Palin didn't even come close to making him look like the fool. In my humble opinion by dodging questions, obsessivly blinking and tossing out catch phrases like 'Joe Six Pack' and another president you can drink a beer with. Sorry but I don't really want a president I can have a drink with. I'd rather have one who knows what he or she is doing. As for the snobbish and elitist attitudes- most of my co-workers live in the city and are single mothers, minorities or just don't make that much just like me. We have some college education, but we also rely on daycare subsidies which have been cut. If that's snobbish and elitist, they must have changed the meaning. And FYI I watched the debate on local TV and I listened to the first twenty minutes on 1180 WHAM which is a very conservative radio station. Okay I will admit that after Senator Clinton was taken out of the running I was considering voting for McCain because he seemed very bi-partisan and had good ideas. I still like the man, I just don't like what he stands for and the same can be said about Govenor Palin. I bet she's a nice enough person (when she's not up on national TV fidgiting like a toddler that has to go potty) but I just don't agree with what she has to say. You know when she actually says it.

Otakupedia Entries/Suggestions/Discussion thread
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Charles's topic in General Discussion
Oh, please, God, no. I tried the Caramelldansen skin on for 5 minutes, before I had to change it back because of the dizzingly annoying animation. I know I'm less frquent around here nowdays, but I'd be less than less frequent if the Caramelldansen girls graced the top of every skin on OB. I say, bring on Otakubot, give him a true go a mascot-dom. Just don't make him dance. -_-
I just move my window down so I don't have to see the dancing because I think watching the dancing too much makes you prone to seizures. If you make a new skin, please no dancing. But I do like the colours. -
I've been hearing people talking about chatting with other members here on the OB a lot recently. This has given me the idea to try to form a more open "chat opportunity" for anybody who's interested. I love talking to people here on the OB but sometimes it's a little tiring. You don't get that instant response that you can get in IMs or chat sessions. And sometimes it's that instant response, that occasional emoticon that really gives you a feel of another person's personality in a way that posts on a message board can't. Plus i think it'd be a good way for OB members to get to know one another in a different environment. So here's what i'd like to do. First we should pick a day and a time. Then we need to pick a place to chat that everybody can access. We can do AIM, Yahoo, Google, Stickam, or whatever. I'm open to suggestions. Then all we need to do is go and chat and enjoy each other's company. Hopefully this'll work out, but we need your support for it to. o_0 Where's Uncle Sam when ya need him?
I've brought it up on the Convention Centre page. :animesigh But as a different idea where we get to meet one another. I'm just not sure how we go about it. And if you do want to chat with other members theotaku has a community chat too, but you have to be a memeber for three months. But onviously I think it'd be a good idea to try and chat with more people. PS: Bored as anything here. And I'm logged on to AIM now

I haven't listened to it in a while, but I just dug Within a Mile of Home by Flogging Molly out of my music folder to see if that would help me write- or maybe even find a theme song. The lead singer's voice is really nice. And I think it's interesting that you can still hear their Irish accents in the songs. You don;t relaly hear that with most nationalities and sometimes even with country singers. Yeah maybe I'll get another one of their CDs. And I have to find the Rock Against Bush CDs- someone stole them from me a few years ago when I did packaging and I've only now decided I want them back.
-
I stole your thread, so you go and steal my idea. :animesmil I think that would be a great idea. How would we go about doing it though? To me it would seem like we would have to use something like MSN or other client in which you can patch a large group of people in. Or is there some way on boards? A link, or specilized area we could use?
Well turn about is fair play :p I do know that theOtaku has a community chat room that we could use if we wanted to. All you have to do is just activate your account on there- unfortunately you can't use the chatrooms unless you've been active for three months which gives some of the new people a disadvantage to being in this chat. I think one of the larger IM companies (I'm on YIM and AIM) would be a good idea and maybe even a better one since you only have to own an IM handle. Now how do we go about this whole thing because we have to try to have people on

Okay so last night here in the states was the one and only vice presidential debate. I was actually pretty excited to watch it because I don't know much about Joe Biden (Barack Obama's running mate) but I know enough about Sarah Palin to know that I wouldn't vote her as a Clinique Counter sales lady at Macy's (okay last night those who were in chat know I said Mary Kay, but not everyone knows Mary Kay) and now after tonights debates I still know I won't because she's just so inappropriately sarcastic and she tries to pass it off as being cute. It's not cute it's actually rude. Well I listened to the first part of the debates because they started the same time as I was leaving for work. So for the first twenty minutes I was focusing on driving (all hail the cruise control) and just the tones of their voices. I never heard Palin directly answer any question thrown at her in those first twenty minutes. Or if she did attempt she threw maverick and how she's a hockey mom in there. Heck I think you could have started a drinking game on that debate, take a shot every time Sarah Palin says 'maverick' you'd be three sheets to the wind by the end of it. I wasn't thrilled with the republican party before and now I'm even more unimpressed now. Biden mentioned Obama's plan for health care making it more accessable while Palin talked about the fact that they shouldn't get government involved in anything else because of how they mess it up. Okay I'll admit on this topic I'm slightly biased because right now I'm uninsured (I should have health insurance through my company by next week or so.) and I've been hearing a lot about nationalized health care (both the pros and cons) and in the long run although there are some faults in the system I think it would be a great thing to have because why shouldn't Americans have health care like the Europeans and the Canadians? It's paid for by taxes and we already pay taxes. Okay anyway I would like to hear if anyone else has watched any of the debates. Maybe not the ones for the Vice Presidents- but I can't remember much on the first presidential debate. Maybe if you're Canadian you could talk about the elections that happen this month. I don't know. But I want to start talking about the election in here and the candidates a bit more because the US economy is in the crapper right now and I want to see if anyone sees change in the near future.
blue?
So persistance pays off? So maybe if I keep bringing it up and continue to mention that maybe just maybe he can get some more advice (which he never hesitates to give- seriously never call him when you just want to vent) on dealing with college professors or who knows what and meet more people who are into drawing design and computer animation since our group of friends doesn't do that. Maybe then he'll start reposting again eh?

What does your signature/title/avi say about you?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I decided I can post in here again because I changed the last portion of lyrics in my signature. Because while Hoy aunque estés lejos, sigo aquí (Today even if you're far away I'm still here) makes sense to me Sabes que no puedo, no sin ti (You know that I can't, not without you) added to the same line didn't seem to fit. Okay yes I could have left either one line or the other but I didn't want to. Instead yesturday I was listening to Simple and Clean and decided that I liked the song and wanted to add one of the lines to my signature instead. So that's why: Reguardless of warnings the future doesn't scare me at all is in there now. I think that actually fits me better. And yes, I have inconsistancies a lot of them and I can't always commit to having one or two things always in my signature or my title. That alone describes me at times. -

Oh man I was going to do this thread! I had it all thought out when I went out then poof! Thread Stealer!:animecry: I know how I got here, there was a site called Trouble Makers and All Things Naughty that had a messageboard which I'd joined in '99 while I was in college. It was a fun site mainly based on Sailor Moon villains but they talked about other things too- and once Otakuboards came up in a discussion about a site called Christian Anime Alliance. I clicked the link and joined the fun here. I got here in late '03 whenI was married and living in Texas- I believe it was November so I've been here almost five years! Whoa... yeah. So I've been here through four different stages in my life:
marriage- extremely boring at times, but hey I was happy so I talked about it a lot and you all were nice enough to listen.

pregnancy-I was happy and sick and tired and pukey and the baby daddy was in Iraq at the time and you all were nice enough to listen. .

Divorce- It's like being kicked in the stomach repeatedly by someone wearing really ugly steel toed boots. But even though I started to lay off my posts by then, but you all were there for that awkward two years of hell. More or less .

New Boyfriend- This is why I'm annoying right now. BUt I'm happy that I finally came back
Man five years, also a few different jobs from assembly, to packaging to fast food to cleaning planes and now I'm in health care. Wee! I don't know why I keep coming back. I think it's the combination of intelligent conversation (yes we have that) Mods that listen and don't over mod (I've been on 4Kids- worst messageboard evah! Though I did meet some decent people there too)And the fact that everyone is pretty cool here with their own quirks. But mostly the discussions, nothing is off limits here which is cool If someone wants to start a thread on underwear we can do that, Homosexuality done, DDR on it, Our favorite cereal... yeah it's here somewhere. We're a very diverse group. :catgirl: Right now I still talk on AIM to Morpheus, but everyone else eh I guess not as much. Don't be shy, I talk a lot... I'm just friggin' shy myself.

Lord I need to stop bringing my work home with me. Okay so I work at a senior living community for people with Alzheimers and Dimensia and when we get new people we try to introduce them to all the new residents and the staff (more so the staff since the majority of us still retain most information given to us) and show them around. I was thinking that maybe on theOtaku we could try to do a group chat some time to introduce or re-introduce ourselves. It's be a good way to meet people and maybe drag along some fresh blood. Or it could be a total flop either way it's an idea that hasn't been offered as far as I can tell.

I'm wondering if we all flunked the first attempt at breaking our record (which BTW I'm a part of) should we try to better organize a new attempt? At least one with more current members? That would be nice because I've noticed since I've come back (from the dead so it seems) our population has dropped. Which is nice in some ways because it does give you a chance to meet more people if you have the chance and it's easier to keep tract, but I kinda miss those umteen messages in my inbox. Yeah I do. So maybe sometime that's easier? I could never even attempt a 3PM EST meeting on here even if it is a Saturday because I'll either be out or working or out working. If we tried a night shift it might be easier. Especially since some members are in Australia and the like. Also 3PM EST or whatever wouldn't be fair to people who may live in ALaska or Hawaii because they're four and five hours behind respectfully.

Gaming What I learned from Video games is...
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Haku877's topic in Noosphere
Considering I don't play video games all that often this will be a short list. BUt I'm still gonna try. 1.) I can dance! I can really dance- DDR any version 2.) Stay away from ghosty things because they can and will destroy you- PacMan (Hey I warned you all- I don't play video games that much) 3.) Whenever you find a mushroom, eat it- Super Mario Bro's any version 4.) It is possible to crash, burn and get a new car/motorcycle- Any racing game I've played. 5.) Dogs can talk and jump over barrels, but they can't swim- Some Scooby-Doo game I was helping my daughter play. 6.) Dancing on a mat will indeed help Dora to get to her party - Dora The Explore Fiesta DVD 7.) Only you can help Strawberry shortcake save her berry harvest from the Peculiar Purple Pie Man- Strawberry Shortcake dance mat DVD 8.) If you block someone in they will inevitably get upset curse at you and pee themselves until death comes- Any Sims game 9.) Flying into trees only makes you say 'ow' but it causes no permanent damage- Winx Flight Training game on 4Kids (so lame) Yeah that's it. -
