1. According to CNN last night and the news this morning the Senate passed the new bail out plan last night 74 to 25. Which means it has to go to the house. I still think this is insane and will lead to more troubles later one and is rewarding these CEOs and C-Level executives for being poor managers. In some cases it rewards anyone who doesn't pay up on their loans for being poor money managers. But things being the way they are right now you have to have spotless credit just to buy a dining room set. I just hope this new plan is a better brain storm than the one that was blocked. I haven't read up on it yet.
 2. And what does it say to other people? We already have a thread based on judging someone's signature. So I just wanted to take it a notch up. Or relieve boredum til the rain stops since I have to walk a few blocks to pick up my car then head out to get gas and go to work. Either way it should prove interesting. Okay since I'm starting I guess I'll go start first. My signature is a strange combo. Gavin just made me a new banner out of the kindness of his heart- and the saying: YEs I'm Irish kiss me and I'll break your face is very accurate for me. I can be violent at times and I am like sixty percent Irish which in America means that you are officially that nationality. Which accounts also for my title- Je se Irelandais is French (as far as I know, my french is still bad) for I am Irish. The title is French because I'm trying to learn the language. Back to the signature: The top and bottom lines are from a song called Ojos de Cielos which translates to Eyes of Heaven. The song is Spanish and I'm trying to improve my Spanish from years of disuse. The top lyric translation is: Forgive me if once I stole from your lips an I-Love-you and the bottom one under my banner is Today even if you are away I am still here, you know I can't, not without you. I like the song because it reflects my feelings in a lot of ways about my boyfriend. I'm still skittish at times. It's a beautiful song. And finally the avi. Well you know how the Irish are- we have a lot of pride in our country and our culture despite hardships. I mean there is a reason one of the Irish sayings is: There are two types of people- The Irish and those who wish they were Irish :p So anyone else want to give it a go? Because I have to get going rain or no rain.
 3. I've decided that I want a theme song so fearsome other theme songs would pee themselves from sheer terror. Sadly the only one I could find and share with everyone on chat a few nights ago was Walk Like an Egyption by the Bangles (at least it wasn't Canadian Idiot!). It doesn't incite fear, just random eighties dancing. So maybe I'm not ready for a theme song yet. But that doesn't stop me from asking what everyone else's theme song is or should be and why. Who knows maybe in a few days I can get my own theme song- I know that after a week of dodging agressive old people I might earn one. Hey a girl can dream right?
 4.
I would kill myself before I dyed my hair. If I could pick the one thing that I absolutely go shallow and ditzy over is my hair.
I love dying my hair because it's like a quick make over. I especially love this dark red violet colour that my hair dresser uses, my eyebrows and lashes are black so the colour actually looks natural and when it fades out you can't even see the roots. I'm prideful about my hair too- it's in great condition right now. When I was pregnant I high-lighted my hair, but that's insanely expensive in a salon and tedious at home. Also it can be stressful and hazardous. I let my mom help me once when my hair was past my shoulderblades and it didn't turn out too good. I also did it once on a girl I used to take care of, the first time it turned out OK but her mom wanted the colour closer to the roots (it's hard doing a quad's hair especially when her hair is waist length) and it turned out bladly. As for a complete discription in length. I've never had it fall past my shoulderblades. I like it being long layers or a nice diagonal cut. Right now my hair in the front is down to my shoulders and the back is an inch above that. I'm okay with whatever length I have as long as I can pull it back. What I never really got into was the opposite sex's or whoever's hair. I like guys with short hair and clean cut. I'm horrid about it and quite bossy too, I usually end up telling my boyfriend every few weeks he needs a haircut. Hair colour doesn't really matter to me, but most guys I've dated have also had brunette hair- my ex-husband's was nearly black. My daughter has my hair colour though- it's a very nice medium brunette with some moderate highlights in the summer. *winks back at Gelgoog* There's a reason my Theotaku avi is You so wish you were Brunette like me :smirk:
 5. The problem is as a lot of people in this thread have been saying is that there was no central control on the banks it was just every state for themselves and now New York State (along with the rest of the country) is royally screwed because of a few corperate fat cats (sorry watched Ellen on Friday- she's how I get most of my political info :animeswea) and no regulation. As Allamorph pointed out earlier there is no bail out money- I mean where the heck do they expect to get 700 billion dollars? Okay yes I do know, make more and stick it in the banks. But that's just a quick fix, not a permanent solution and that's what this country needs. Right now Japan and Australia are confident that this new bill will pass in Senate today (I woke up and turned on the news while getting ready for the day and I still have it on now) so their stocks are up, so as James said this isn't just a national problem it has the potential to be a global one (I've heard Canada is beginning to suffer in the economy because of the US economic crisis) I'm now waiting for the vice presidential debate tonight to see what they'll say about the economy, because this is getting crazy.
 6. The reason for this thread is because I have to postphone my hair appointment for a few weeks. And I'm bummed because I really need to colour it again. Oh well. So I've decided to make a new hair thread because I don't see one on here and I don't clearly remember there being one recently so I'll do it: Here's the basics: Colour: Have you ever dyed your hair? If so what colours? Length/ Style. Eh and I guess preference for hair of the opposite/ smae sex? What hair style do you find attractive I guess is what I'm getting at. As for myself: Colour: My natural colour is brunette, but right now it's fading from dark red brown Have you ever dyed your hair?: Yes of course, numorous times What colours?: MOstly reds of varying shades. a few times it neared purple. Length/ style: It's growing out now because I haven't had it cut in a few months but it used to be very short in the back and longer in the front kinda asymetrical. I just need to actually work on that. As for what I find attractive on someone I'd want to date- I like guys with short hair. I'd get into it more, but now I'm on the phone.
 7.
I haven't seen the detail of it (in all honesty, I'm not that interested, haha), but my understanding was that the Republicans were the ones who blocked it. Maybe that's just second-hand reporting coming in (it's likely an over-simplification too, since it's hard to capture this complex issue in a three second soundbyte).
According to the papers here the majority of Republicans did try to block it and the majority of Democrats tried to pass it. Which is very odd considering that the president who is a Republican was pushing for the bail out to pass. But I'm glad it was blocked and turned down. They need a solution down on Wall St (which for everyone's information is twenty percent of New York State's Tax revenue) and a solution for the American economy as a whole not just a band aid. It's a gaping wound not a paper cut.
 8.
So those individuals are not Christians?
No, they're a different sect of Christianity- like maybe a fringe religion. Something to that effect. For example: Technically I'm a Christian, but I refer to myself as a Catholic- which is a branch of Christianity. I don't believe in everything that the church teaches (Waiting for the lightening to strike me down any day) but I'm still considered Catholic because every Sunday I drag myself out of my nice comfy bed to go hear a sermon and take communion and try to keep my daughter from running down the aisle for an hour. But I believe that gay marriage should be legalized and I believe in Birth Control (excuse me I have to go build a shrine to the pill) On the opposite side of the coin is my grandma Donnelly. She marched in Washington DC for pro-life, once picketed a Planned Parenthood, was against birth control (yeah... uh I never got to ask why exactly she was opposed to abortions and birth control) and would nearly faint if someone said 'damn'. God rest her soul, but I never saw eye to eye with her, but she was still a Christian. I guess you have to look at it this way: Don't dislike the religion dislike the person practicing the religion. I just have to add that I was taught that the Bible wasn't written to be taken literally letter for letter word for word. It's meant to be interpretted and for people to ask questions about it. There's always room for change.
 9.
I'm not so sure that Iraq has lead to a recession. The spending on the war has only been 0.76 trillion, which is a fraction of what the government has been spending on local affairs.
I wasn't saying that the two wars we're involved in right now are the sole cause of this recession- although they may be considered a contributing factor- I'm saying that if you look through history many wars- at least in the States have contributed to the economy- especially in World War two when it helped finish getting us out of the Depression. I don't think that the American people as a whole should be expected to bail out the bankers who make more in one month than many of us make in a year. I am glad that the executve's pay is being cut by fifty percent or above- or maybe that's bonuses (forgive me, I usually watch the news while watching the residents where I work :animeblus) because they can afford it plus it's a way for them to be held accountable. And now... I think I'll go read some stuff so I can comment better.
 10. The local news has been saying that we (upstate New York) will face the brunt of this crisis because New York State gets a lot of its revenue from Wall Street and that system's been screwed up. So a lot of projects including ones in upstate New York are slated to either be scrapped or will be delayed. This includes the expansion on a nursing home at one of the local hospitals. I don't know why this has been going on for the past ten years unchecked, in the local paper on Saturday or Sunday- I think it was Sunday- they had a graph and charts about what lead to this crisis. The housing market and loans were going great until the early part of 2002 or so. Everything started to slump after 9/11 and then the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Oddly enough this is one of the few times in history when a war hasn't lead to an economic boom or gotten us a better economy. Instead it lead to a recession that the government won't even acknowledge.
 11.
ChibiHorsewoman, I really like your signature. Its simple, but artsy. And I've always loved that style. Plus the colors are perfect. 9/10 One point off because I'm not Irish. :p Kudos to Gavin, haha.
Don't rate my signature this time, I just wanted to say this: Minus fifty-seven points since Saiyan Princess isn't Irish. But still thanks. As for the signature.Very cute, I remember Sonic from back in the days of Sega- I was bad at video games and still am. So 8.5/ 10 for the retro-ness and the fact that your avi and banner coordinate. And I like the colours so tack on another .25
 12. Okay Mr. Maul first off happy belated- for the record I was at work so I haz a 'scuse. Sounds like you had a good time wait until next year. As for myself I'm trying to remember birthdays. My most interesting (IE: The one I can vividly remember right now) one was this year. I turned twenty-seven two weeks after I started at my new job and I had to come in to work for a staff meeting and for some med training classes. I was sitting in class and got a call from my friend Angel up in Alberta- the voicemail was her singing 'Happy Birthday' Off key and adding that she'd keep singing but I'm her friend. Then during the staff meeting after the basics they did the run down of birthdays because everyone gets a ten dollar Target gift card on their birthday. So everyone found out it was my birthday and my SUPERVISOR started singing happy birthday. I had a lot of texts and emails from my other friends who either live out of town, out of state or out of the country. I also got some 6Teen DVDs from my friend Angel, a shirt and a necklace from my friend Lisa, a jewlry box from my boyfriend, a necklace w/ a butterfly and a 4-leaf clover and a t-shirt from my parents and a t-shirt from my brother with Audrey Hepburn on it. As well as money from other relatives. Trying to think back... most of my elementary day birthdays were good, I played some games and got some Barbies. My birthday in Texas was pretty crappy. I turned twenty-two in 2003 and the most interesting thing that happened that day was my mom calling me and saying: Happy Birthday old lady. My ex husband couldn't even be bothered to say happy birthday even though his was the week before and I even made a cake for him. And I am one hell of a baker! :animeangr Well yeah that's all I remember for now.
 13. I'm suddenly very very grateful to have a career in medical and not only in medical but in geriatric care because it's a growing field. I'm also grateful that my parents are in food service and so is my brother. I'm also glad that my boyfriend is a Canadian citizen because anything else starts going wrong I'm heading up there. As for the bail out- I'm glad that congress vetoed it today. I don't see why the general public should have to pay for something that these companies knew was going to happen years ago. The banks don't pay you off for forgetting to keep up with your payments, so why should we have to pay for their screw ups? The other sad thing is that the US is clearly heading for a depression and the government is still trying to deny it. What is it going to take for them to open their eyes? The dow already sank over 777 points today which is the lowest since the crash of 87. This does have me worried, job security aside.
 14. We have no ceiling cat, someone should be ceiling cat... just not me No one has ever seen me at work- at least not to my knowlege. But I do feel this way sometimes: And finally Yeah... I still don has a PMS!
 15.
i give yours a 9 out of ten, it''s dramatic. i like that.
Gavin being Irish is of course cool and made me a new Avi and banner that I loaded now instead of tomorrow. So I can play again right? And by the way, the song lyrics are from Ojos de cielos (eyes of heaven/ Heavenly eyes) and the lyrics on top translates to: Forgive me if once I stole from your lips an I love you. As for Dearz. The collage is nice I guess if a bit condensed. I have no idea who Jeff Hardy is either... So I guess... 7.5 out of 10 for the creative avi, but not extensively creative
 16. I currently keep a list of top ten song obsessions on my fanfiction profile and change them from time to time. Here's the current top ten list for your enjoyment/ critique: 1.) Hand of Sorrow- Within Temptation- Because I just can't stop placing that song on repeat and now I can sing the whole thing. I like the story of it all and that listening to it inspires me to write. 2.) Truth Beneath the Rose- Within Temptation- I haven't deceided exactly why I like this song. But I like it right now. Maybe it's more writer's inspiration. 3.) Unhook the Stars- Cyndi Lauper- Yes, you read right- Cyndi Lauper- from the eighties! Actually Unhook the Stars is tied with The Goonies Are Good Enough Either because they both bring back good childhood memories or because The Goonies was a cool (when I was about eight) movie and the songs are catchy. 4.) Not Ready To Make Nice- Dixie Chicks- Not sure if someone will comment on this or not, but it fits a lot of my life. In fact the CD came out in 2006 which was a year I was going through a lot of crap myself. It's a good song and the whole CD (Taking the Long Way) is one of my favorites from the group. 5.) Ojos de Cielos- El SueƱo de morfeo- It's a very pretty romantic song IMHO about a girl trying to figure out her feelings for a boy she likes- in the chorus she tells him If you're not around I don't know if I exist and in the second verse she says if once she ignored him it was because she's scared. I think it's emotional in some parts, and i fell for the song watching it used in a Sakura/Naruto AMV on youtube. 6.) See Who I Am- Within Temptation- Someone could try to find a pattern I guess- except there isn't one. 7.) Online- Brad Paisley This is just a funny song. This one and Alcohol are two of the funniest and best country songs ever. I just don't know enough of his other songs to buy the CDs 8.) Popular- Wicked the Musical- This song was probably one of my favorite scenes from the play. It's from after
Elphaba helps Galinda get into this special class that Madam Morrible would only allow Elphaba into and Galinda feels bad because she's actually tricked Elphaba and was being mean to her so she decides to try and give her a make over
The performance was hilarious and I always remember the 'flip flip' that Galinda did during the song. 9.) Miracle- Paramore This is just a good song and one of my favorites from their Riot CD the other of course is Broken. I think I'm attached to this song because I copied down the lyrics in a letter to my boyfriend after we'd had a fight then he was stil having trouble getting into college. He wanted to give up this time, but I didn't. Yeah- I have a love song that isn't supposed to be a love song- wee. 10.) Walk Like an Egyption- The Bangles- It's such a funny song so I like it. I need to see if they have a cd on Amazon because it was such a fun song back when I was six and didn't care that I was dancing funny. So there you have it. My informative top ten. I'm quite diverse in my musical tastes. At least that's what I think.
 17.
Still listening to Breaking Benjamin, although I've moved on to their Phobia album, currently I tend to flick between Unknown Soldier, Evil Angel and Dance with the Devil although I've listened to the entire album quite a few times without stopping and the only song I don't particularly care for is Topless (too much screaming again).
I really enjoyed Phobia- it's the first Breaking Benjamin CD I've bought and I liked it so much I forced it on friends and loved ones. Unknown Soldier is definately one of my repeats. But I have to say my favorite track on the CD is Until The End I haven't listened to the CD in a while though, but now I think I might. Currently I'm playing The Heart of Everything from Within Temptation on near eternal repeat. My favorite song on the CD is Hand of Sorrow The song has inspired a half written short story right now. Other choice tracks on here are Truth Beneath The Rose and All I Need I'm starting to get hooked on The Cross too I haven't figured out why yet. I just have to say that I wish they hadn't included Stand My Ground on this CD as well since it's already on Silent Force and I own that one too. Don't get me wrong it's a good song, but I didn't need different CDs of it. Oh yeah and if I decide to give The Heart of Everything, Silent Force and Taking The Long Way a break I usually go for Wicked- the songs from the Broadway musical. I saw the play back in June and I loved it. My favorite songs from the play were What is This Feeling because it definately fits when Elphaba and Galinda first meet Popular because the acting during that number was hilarious and Defying Gravity. Wow, informative and Ecclectic.
 18. I haven't posted back since the first page. But I'll just say this: After years of reading varying debates of this sort on here I've learned one thing. We can continue to talk all we want we aren't going to change anyone's opinions over the internet. The important thing is that we can respect eachother's opinions and not start yelling that I'm right and you're wrong. Because we're all intelligent people on here. And what fun us a debate if everyone agrees with everyone else? And now I'm going to go take a nap so I can be ready for work.
 19. I'm vain and mostly posting so I can see if anyone knows the song from my signature. At least I can admit it and that's the first step to recovery. :animesmil Okay Rachmaninioff. 9.5 out of 10 because the convo between him and Gavin gave me a good laugh. The banner is very pretty. I'm not sure what anime it's from, but it looks very nicely put together and looks like you spent some time on it. I don't really get the Everyone's better than me quote- is that from a show? I do somewhat agree with the Everything is better with science quote. And I haven't been here in a while so I can't comment on some of the other things well enought to form an opinion hence the 9.5. Eh... yeah. Come on! Fill up my inbox!
 20. I never added this after Gavin... or someone... loaded the one about someone having suspicions about intentions... I should've done it sooner eh? Only question... who is Ceiling cat?

 22.
I was unaware of this until I read an article from my school newspaper under the opinions section. Lifeway Christian Resources is an entity of the Southern Babtist Convention. According to the woman who wrote the article I read, Catholics also hold the same belief that women cannot be pastors. To anybody that knows me I'm sure my opinion will come with little shock. I think it's pretty absurd that in this day and age such blatant sexism still exists in some churches. To my understanding this belief stems from a bible passage from Paul.
Well first of all St. Paul is not one of my favorite people. Always down on women- When I got older and heard the sermons written by him in Church sometimes I'd wonder if Mary Magdalen turned him down. Also Baptists- no offense, but a lot of them get pretty serious about religion. On the subject of Catholics holding the same beliefs- that may hold true for mainstream Catholics and many priests and deacons, but it depends on which ones you ask. There are always break away religions. For example about ten years back here in Rochester there was a Catholic church in the city where the priest was allowing a woman to say mass and give communion and he was performing same sex marriages. Needless to say the guy was eventually excommunicated but the debate did come up in the community as to whether he was or was not doing God's work. Personally I don't see why the Catholic church doesn't hurry and have another Vatican meeting because all the diocese here in New York are facing priest shortages and churches are closing, They have to do something and I think making women priests would be one way to re-open some churches and maybe even get people back to the religion.
 23. ]The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and three hundred sixty-two admonishments to heterosexuals. This doesn't mean God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision.- Lynn Larner I just figured I'd throw that quote out here for fun because that's just how I am. I'm not good at debating with the Bible, the Bible is layered with meanings and I don't believe it was meant to be taken compeletly literally because if that were the case we wouldn't have clothing from mixed blends and women would still have to stay inside during their menstral cycle. Also those lines used to condemn homosexuality are usually hidden way back in Leviticus while the story about love is up in Corinthians. Come to think about it the Bible has a lot more to say about love than it does to say about not loving someone. I'm a good Catholic, but not too keen on some of my religion's beliefs-and sometimes not even the saints, but still I think St. John the Apostle said it best: He who says that he loves God but hates his brother is a liar. For how can he love God who he has not seen when he hates his brother who he has seen? That said, I don't see why everyone is so up in arms over homosexuality. Is anyone trying to convert you to becoming a homosexual? Is this the reason our economy is in a recession and headed straight to a depression? (Okay fine if you ask some insanity driven Bible Thumper he or she may say yes) Did Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DiRossi's marriage damage your health in anyway? Is your life directly affected in a negative way by anyone being gay? Chances are not bloody likely. I do agree that the government should not be allowed to make laws concerning who can marry who based on sexual preference. It's an unjust law and should be repealed in all fifty states not just Vermont and California. It's as bad as the laws in the South that used to dictate that races could not inter marry. And I do agree that there is nothing wrong with being homosexual. It's just something that happens like being straight. Yeah for now that's really all I have to say on the subject. Sorry it's not all that good
 24.
I have only ever been to one museum, but it was a pretty damn good one. I speak of the British Museum in London. Everything about it was awesome, from the building itself ti the exhibits. There were amazing Egyptian sarcophagi, mummies, large statues, ancient Greek art, old weapons and armor. All in all, it freakin' rocked. Hardcore.
Yeah if I ever make it to the UK that sounds like somewhere I'd want to go. But first the economy over in the US has to pick up or I'll go broke just from the exchange rate (Please vote for Obama!) I haven't gone yet this year, but another museum I had fun with was the Genessee Country Museum in Genessee county just west of me (forty-five minutes and according to mapquest the place doesn't exist) I went there for the first time with my daughter last year. What this place basically is is a living history museum set in the 19th century. They have a farm with animals a forge a church-the last time we went someone was getting married in there- and some other old buildings that were over 200 years old. THey have actors or something dressed up in early to mid 19th century costumes for living on the frontier- which is pretty much what it was like in Western New York state for the first part of the nineteenth century. It was actually pretty interesting. Another living history museum is near Cooperstown , New York but Iforgot the name of the place since I haven't been there since I was about fourteen. It's about the same thing, but larger. Okay since I live in Rochester which is the film capitol of the world- or so we like to think- I guess I have to talk about the George Eastman House which I've only been to once- which was back in 2002 and they had an exhibit with pictures from 9/11. George Eastman was the founder of Eastman Kodak Company in I think 1885 or something like that. The museum is set up at his house and has a lot of his stuff there. BUt like I said I've only been there once. If this thread keeps up I'll try to remember either the 1st Cav and 4th ID museums on Ft. Hood (They're free admission) or the New York State History Museum in Albany. Whichever comes up first
 25.
Um, I don't know what movie theater your going to, but if it's near me, I would gladly go on a regular basis. :D
Well I haven't been to a horrid movie up here in New York (yet), but down in Killeen Texas I did get a full refund on The Hours because I fell asleep during it. I really went up to the ticket counter asked to see a manager and told them that the movie was really bad and I wanted my money back. Of course that could just be because the manager figured if he didn't keep customers happy everyone would stay on base. Seriously the movie theater in Killeen was the only one in town off base unless you wanted to drive twenty miles to Temple. I think the theaters here would give a refund because they have a lot of competition, there are at least twelve different movie theaters within a seventeen minute drive depending where you go. So it'd hurt the ones here because they'd lose business.
