[color=#9933ff]I guess after getting the Political Caption thread off to a smashing start I may as well continue this whole thing because humor threads are for humor. But debate threads... yeah. Okay so obviously I have an issue with abstinence only education- in my humble opinion it doesn't work. And [U][B]I'm not talking about Palin's daughter[/B][/U] I'm talking about states in general, the state of Massachusettes (I can't spell that place since I don't live there) has a policy of abstinence only education and you have a group of girls there making a pregnancy pact. Texas has an abstinence only sex ed policy and the teen pregnancy rate was going up. It's like a catch twenty-two because public schools in the states are required to teach abstinence only sex ed in their schools or not recieve government funding. Which is really absurd. Okay I'm not saying that it's only the school's responsibility to teach abouit the consequences of having unprotected sex or just sex in general to pre-teens and teens, but it's hard for some parents to talk to their children about sex. Some not all because it's a wonder I wasn't scarred by some of my mom's talks. But really you can't expect all people to just say no in a moment of passion. The sex ed curriculum should at least be required to include information about condom usage and birth control options. I'm not saying that school's should hand out those things- except maybe in college- but I'm saying that those options should be mentioned more frequently and with success rates not failure rates. Well informed is well prepared, right? Oh yeah and before anyone starts flinging anything else at me- I'm pro-choice, but not pro abortion. That is all.[/color]

[color=#9933ff]Just to prove that I'm an equal opportunity offender: [IMG]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/Chibi_horsewoman/Funny%20pictures/hilary.jpg[/IMG] But now I wonder if that belongs in Caturdays[/color]

What was the most disgusting thing you've tasted?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
[color=#9933ff]I seriously can not eat cooked spinach or I will gag. Same with broccoli. That said so far the nastiest thing I've eatten that I can remember is this lemon pudding that they were giving the residents for dessert last night. It tasted like lemon flavored ear wax.[/color] -
[color=#9933ff]*sigh* Hey how about we get back on topic? We can save the Sex ed debate for another thread. [IMG]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/Chibi_horsewoman/Funny%20pictures/werent-soldiers.jpg[/IMG] Not exactly a caption, but I'm too lazy to go right click and add to photo bucket- even though I found another good one.[/color]

[quote name='Raiha'][COLOR="DarkOrchid"][FONT="Times New Roman"]Sorry, unamused. In fact. Offended. So she did advocate abstinence only education. But attacks on her daughter are unwarranted and unworthy. Her daughter didn't choose an abortion, she chose to marry her boyfriend and carry her baby to term. Even Obama's said hands off her family. And that's probably the only other time I'll agree with him too.[/FONT][/COLOR][/QUOTE] [color=#9933ff]That wasn't an attack on her daughter. That was an attack on abstinence only education. If it's so great then why doesn't it work? Uh I don't know, because abstinence only is total BS. Yes, you can tell your kid to say no, but obviously that wasn't enough with her daughter and it's not enough in Massachesettes either. There's a pretty good reason why this country okayed birth control, so people would use it. I didn't do this to get into a political debate, and hello, I may be pro choice, but I don't advocate abortion either. I'd never tell someone that they shouldn't get one, but if there's a chance I can talk someone out of it then I'd at least try. Adoption for one is a great alternative- there are plenty of families out there waiting for children who they can afford to raise. Get a sense of humor about it- or at least try to understand that I WASN'T ATTACKING HER DAUGHTER.[/color]

[color=#9933ff]I guess like Caturdays only political. Yeah... bored and I should go to bed. But first... [IMG]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/Chibi_horsewoman/Funny%20pictures/priceless.jpg[/IMG] Yeah, you knew that one was coming.[/color]

[color=#9933ff] I think this one goes with what Gavin posted earlier [IMG]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/Chibi_horsewoman/Funny%20pictures/bigkid.jpg[/IMG] And this is just because I want you all to know...[/color] [IMG]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/Chibi_horsewoman/Funny%20pictures/basementnutrutious.jpg[/IMG]

[color=#9933ff]Okay you've kinda come tothe right place. I work at a Senior Living Community and we do a lot of fundraising for Demensia and Alzheimers research. They tend to raise a lot of money for it too. The most recent one was a clam bake- the cost was about 9$ per person and included one dozen clams, corn on the cob some salt potatos and a drink. They opened it to the public and ran an ad in the paper and raised a decent amount of money. They also did a Lollypop Farm fundraiser with a cookout where you made a donation and got food out of it. For some reason most senior places I work at involve food. I wonder if you could also try a garage sale- that seems to work for churches. Maybe if you did a clam bake or something you could include the cost of the ticket to be a book and a monetary donation? I'm not really good at this kind of thing either, I just figured I'd throw out what they do at work and see where that gets you.[/color]

[quote name='Allamorph'][FONT=Arial]Instead of trying to copy the coding, just right-click on the image, click "Copy Image Location", and put [I]that[/I] inside the IMG tags. That should fix it.[/FONT][/QUOTE] [color=#9933ff]I've tried, when I right click though I don't get that code. Thanks though[/color]

[quote name='Lunar'][COLOR="Indigo"]Hmm, I never really thought about it. My friends Michael and Diana used to call me a terrorist/communist, for unknown reasons. I call my self the "Totally Awesome One." My other friends call me.........my name.:animedepr I've never been called Lunar in my life.[/COLOR][/QUOTE] [color=#9933ff]Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Hmm, I've only been refered to as Chibi Horsewoman here and on Fanfiction (Okay like once a long time ago someone called me Meg). Of course in fairness CHW is much easier and still gets the point across. Okay wait... my ex husband called me Chibi but he calls me a lot of other things now that don't bear repeating on this messageboard. I went through my Junior and Senior years of high school being called Nutmeg by a guy in my chemistry class. Luckily that stopped after graduation and had better not happen next year when I go back to my reunion. My friend Lisa's boyfriend gave our friend Tina (which is already a nickname for Christina) the nickname Tinker from Tennessee when he was drunk. It does fit because now she is from Tennessee. But she's originally from Ottawa. We also call her Titi which is Vietnamese for short or little and it's kinda like Tina, but cuter. She calls me Mimi nee chan. Then there's my friend Samantha- no one has ever lived after calling her that so everyone either calls her Sam, Sammi or Samma. My boyfriend is boring- his name's Lee so there's not much that you can do with that name, so my brother just calls him the Canadian eh. My daughter calls him Leaf. :animeswea Thanks for listening[/color]

[quote name='chibi-master'] Other than that, anyone on the OB that feels my screen name is too long calls me chibi. That's about it.:animesmil[/QUOTE] [color=#9933ff]But if you're Chibi then what does that make me? :animecry: Oh yeah. Everyone on here has at one point or another (back when I used to 'live' here) has shortened my user name to CHW. [/color]

[color=#9933ff]I've been talking with Morpheus lately about politics. I believe this fits [IMG]http://images.icanhascheezburger.com/completestore/2008/9/9/uvotes4mccain128654855794702205.jpg[/IMG] If not someone please fix the tags- my poor brain gets sometimers.[/color][COLOR="RoyalBlue"][SIZE="1"][INDENT]Fixed, like Allamorph said, don't use the code the site provides since that doesn't work in the Lounge. ^_~ [I]SunfallE[/I][/INDENT][/SIZE][/COLOR]

[color=#9933ff]The strange, the given and the recieved. I'm just really bored now and I only have a four hour shift. I am still curious about nicknames. Maybe because I haven't been here in a while. Or because I started calling my friend Lisa St. Lisa of the Virgin Senses back in May and it involves an awkward story- but not [i]that[/i] awkward about how my boyfriend gets vocal diarreah and Lisa started yelling virgin ears virgin eyes and so I said, okay by the power invested in me by being Catholic you are now St. Lisa of the Virgin senses. But we don't use that nickname. Mostly we call her Lili or Fanisa. Nicknames for myself- nothing fun. My most used are Meggy and Meg. There's not much of a story behind them except that my name is Megan and sometimes with Meg it's because some people *cough* Ward's *cough* have trouble with two syllable words. Is Mommy a nickname? Someone can decide that. Other ones, well my friends and I call another girl who we don't really like Bloom. Because she's like the character from Winx Club- a total drama queen and has to have the spotlight constantly. Oh and my sister-in-law is KayKay to my daughter and her neice and nephew. But we all call her Katie. So anyone else? I'm off to work again. [/color]

[quote name='Quoth Serenity'][COLOR="DarkSlateBlue"] but apart from that we often use internet/mobile abbreviations in speech (yes im very sad i know) for example we say XD - (normally a smiley but we actually say 'ex dee') yep were definatly tragic, 1up us ;][/COLOR][/QUOTE] [color=#9933ff]I have a friend out in Portland Oregon (not to be confused with Portland Maine) who actually says LOL in conversations! It's like now what Tom, are you too lazy to actually say laugh out loud? *sigh*:animesigh Oh yeah recently some radio DJs on one of the local morning shows have been refering to a town called Victor as Pittsford Light. This is because of an incident involving a fence and Pittsford is a really upper class suburb far east of me. I had a co-worker from there who was working just to save money for a computer. This is as opposed to me who is working to live and I live in the 'ghetto-burbs' This is my own little slang for my part of West Rochester. Probably because if you drive a few miles you'll end up downtown. My daughter has her little pre-schooler slang. She asks for monies instead of money and says she wants to go to Poppydonalds instead of McDonald's. Yes, my daughter is a greedy skinny fastfood eater.[/color]
-
[color=#9933ff]Revive.... Okay I live up north in New York. We don't have much of a slang or dialect that I know of. BUt there is the Rochester accent where most natives pronounce Toronto Torono and Rochester is Rochster. And some people in the actual city call Rochester Roc City A lot of my co-workers use a bit of slang. For example Off the Chain means that someone was acting crazy (IE: This lady was off the chain tonight at dinner.) But I can't think of anything else. I can tell you that if you come to visit and order a hot dog and they ask you red or white a red hot is like a Texas hot and a white hot is like brautwurst. We have a lot of German ancestry here. But honestly I can't think of anything else. We're quite boring. I use bloody, ruddy, plonker and shedload, but that's really just me and most people have no idea what I mean here.[/color]
-
[color=#9933ff]YEah I know I hardly come here any more. I have no idea who is who anymore. But I have a question to ask or whatever so here I go. Between raising a three year old and going to the local toy museum (I live fifteen minutes from the Strong National Museum of Play and they have a toy museum- there's Sailor Senshi toys in there now!) And on a recent visit I saw that the Bratz have been added. True they don't have the space that Barbie does. But the fact that they've been added.. ick? Also I've been visiting Deviant art and seeing all the drawings of Bratz vs Barbie. Some of them are funny, some are disturbing and there's one in my favorites. So I have to ask what is so great about Bratz? Okay you can also ask what is so great about Barbie? But at least Barbie does something besides go boy chasing and wear make up. She's been a doctor an astronaught (can't spell) ran for president a few times, been to war, been a pilot, a teacher, a dancer and a Top Model (check the toy stores- she's now a Top Model) to name a few things. But at least she's had careers. All the Bratz do is go crazy for being film stars, rock stars (Barbie's done that a few times) and clothing. So in my opinion, who needs Bratz? Uh anyone else? I promise sooner or later there will be a more direct debate about this.[/color]

[color=#9933ff]I'm currently obsessed with Hand of Sorrow and See who I am from Within Temptation. Great songs to boost writing. YOu know when I like decide that I can complete full legible sentances. I was really happy when I found two of the CDs at FYE last week because I'd been searching for a while. So now I found them and I can act like a dork. Wee![/color]

[color=#9933ff]Oh man you want to talk sleeping? I have regular PJs Kinda. I have a lot of PJ bottoms (My favorites are my Happy Bunny ones, and a pair from my mom that say [color=black]I[/color] [color=red]♥[/color][color=black]NY[/color] all over them. For mild weather I usually wear a t-shirt of any length and style. But I'm kinda style obsessed so it's usuall fitted. Usually with the NY one I wear my Enjoy Coca-cola t-shirt that has the Enjoy Coca cola in Japanese. For winter I have some flannel PJs and my newest ones I want to get are a mixed set from Target Pink plaid flannel bottoms and a t-shirt that is also pink but has a running horse on it. My summer ones vary. I have some quasi sexy stuff. But it's like why bother if I'm the only one who sees it. I have a purple set with Happy Bunny making faces on it- it's just a long t-shirt and some bum shorts. Yeah I also forgot to talk about accessories in my last post. But there isn't really much to my accessories since I can't really wear much at work. I usually have my little diamond studs in my second holes all the time and this silver ring with a pink heart shaped stone that my boyfriend gave me for Christmas and a watch. The watches vary- I have a retro Strawberry shortcake one with a pale blue patent leather band, my Timex with a purple face or my Relic (yes I'm cheap like that) with the blue face. I own a lot of earrings and necklaces, but unless I really think about it or it'd go good with what I'm wearing for going out I don't really bother. But maybe I should?[/color]

You Don't Want to be the Candyman
ChibiHorsewoman replied to The13thMan's topic in General Discussion
1. What level of education are you at? Highschool, college? [color=#9933ff] I've had a year of college. I was studying Enviromental Conservation, but I kinda flunked out.[/color] 2. What's your favorite subject, or if you're in college, what's your major? [color=#9933ff] As I stated my major was Conservation. My favorite subjects in school were Biology, Algebra and English. I did okay with Spanish, but I don't think I tried my best at it.[/color] 3. Why is it your favorite subject or field of choice? [color=#9933ff] Part of the reason that was my field of choice was because my mom pushed me into it. The subjects well: Biology was fun because my dad used to take me down to where he went hunting and I'd get to hike by myself and I'm kind of a nature freak. Algebra I like because everything seems like a puzzle. English- well in my english classes we always did a lot of creative writing and that was always fun. Spanish- well I need to take that over again or maybe Italian because being bi-lingual helps in my line of work[/color] 4. What's your ideal job along the field you are studying? I'm looking for more realistic answers. If anybody says they want to be a candy man when they grow up i will be uber pissed! [color=#9933ff] Well I'm not back in school yet. But by next year I hope to go take my CNA class. Right now I only have my HHA license for New York State. That way I can make some more money and I have more options. Heck I can even take my boyfriend's mom up on her offer and move to Canada. So given the certification and the license one would assume that my career goal is to be a Certified Nursing assistant then move up to get my LPN. This is because I don't fit the requirments to be a jockey. :animeswea[/color] 5. Talk about whatever it is that interests you! Why is it so damn interesting? Why'd you choose it, blah blah blah. [color=#9933ff] I've always been good at helping people and I'm a very caring and compassionate person. And I'm pretty good at it so why not continue to make a paying career out of it?[/color] -
[color=#9933ff]Generally you can see me in a lovely maroon colored polo shirt and various styles of khaki colored pants- oh and addidas sneakers I can't spell the name, but I love them. Okay enough about my work outfit. Generally though I wear a lot of t-shirts and jeans or shorts. I own a few sweaters- my favorite one being a brown 3/4 sleeved zipper hoodie that I got at Macy's on a mark down and I wear it with a tank top or a longer shirt and some dressier stuff, but I'm most comfortable in casual stuff. As for footwear- that depends on the weather and what else I'm wearing. During the summer I wear sandals. This year I got addicted to a pair of Sketcher's sandals and bought a pair in brown and a pair in black. I am also quite partial to ballet flats- my aunt just bought me a pair of dark purple patent leather ones for my birthday. And of course sneakers. Most of my 35 pairs of shoes are either sneakers (including a pair of casual not quite sneakers from Sketchers that my mom says look like bowling shoes- my friend Lisa has the same ones) or sandals. I own a few pairs of heels But seriously have you ever tried to chase after a toddler in heels? Get real it's illogical and therefore not happening. Concerning the stores I shop in. Mostly low end since I not only have myself to buy for but also a daughter who continues to sprout up like a weed and I don't want her wearing ugly or ill fitting clothes because like someone else said on here, people do judge you on how you look. The key is to dress like you have money. I buy a lot of stuff from Steve and Barry's and Target. I get the rest at Macy's, Kohl's, JCPenny and even WalMart* . I'm not too particular on color either. But I do care about style,so no high cut tapered leg pants. They are really a don't. Hope that helps. And PS yes I did ambush my boyfriend with a friend of ours and force him to get some new clothes.[/color]

[quote name='Linku-kun']IThis is just about the only state you will find an Aligator on the Interstate after a good rain. (true story!!!).[/QUOTE] [color=#9933ff]Yeah, Louisiana and Florida are infamous for having alligators on the interstates. I never had anything too interesting on the Interstates when I lived in Texas. Well, anything alive. Once in Northern TX on I-35 near New Boston I kept seen dead armadillos. Then once on 190 in Killeen I had a tumbleweed roll infront of me. But still I bet nothing can beat an alligator. PS glad you've survived the hurricane.[/color]

[quote name='The13thMan'][FONT="Trebuchet MS"]Oh c'mon guys! Quit pretending Otaku Boards is a serious place! Have you noticed that the two most popular threads at the moment is one with a bunch of cat pictures and another where we throw funny things at each other? [/FONT][/QUOTE] [color=#9933ff]Well, from time to time the urge to try and be serious does strike. But it gets quelched after a few days That said: There's a thread where we throw things at one another and no one told me? Damn I am so out of touch with how things work here now. And by the way. I'll probably be unknown and dead not famous and dead. And unfortunately that's probably how the most of us will be- so I think as long as the people who count remember us then that is all that should matter.[/color]

[quote name='chibi-master']Wow! It seems like almost every member who has posted in this thread is pretty nonchalant and uncaring about how they're remembered...that or you guys are just too modest...[/QUOTE] [color=#9933ff]Okay fine... I want to be remembered as the person who found out how to cure at least one form of Alzheimers (There's quite a few different forms of it and ways it happens) Because it is really not fun to watch people you take care of slowly deteriorate week by week. Or try to picture how someone was prior to this disease taking over their mind. Yeah, I want to be remembered for that- since we all know I won't be remembered as a really hot swimsuit model. :animeswea[/color]
