If someone didn't know it already, I'm from Finland, one of the Scandinavian countries located in northern Europe. The summer this year has been a cold and wet one, and the saddest part is that it only gets colder and more wet as we move towards fall. So is it a wonder Finnish people are considered gloomy and grumpy? ;P
Cheer up- at least Europe gets six weeks mandatory vacation and health care.
For anyone considering visiting Ireland at any point I would advise them to schedule the trip during the summer only for any chance of sunshine.
Noted. I forgot to add the following: Anyone thinking of visiting Western for good sunny weather or the festivals- go in the summer. If you like snow, come in the winter. Pheonix, Las Vegas or Texas- Any time from fall to early spring is best. Only go south if you like feeling as though you're about to melt and don't buy that 'dry heat' bull crap. It's hot. If the thermometer reads 108 degrees (about 40C or so) humidity or a lack of it won't make a bit of differece And if you have a sudden desire to try and plug your vehicle in please visit northern Alberta in the winter.

Okay I want to play too. I'm from America. I was born and raised in Western New York State right near Lake Ontario and know the difference between lake effect snow and the other stuff. Sadly I haven't really moved far from where I was born and I don't know if I ever will again. Unless I can manipulate a few people and well then only if I am garanteed a job. I've been all over New York State and we have a lot of really interesting things. To the West of me Buffalo has a good zoo, we have Niagra Falls (nice 2 hour drive from where I live) and a short drive to Canada. There's also the Finger Lakes Wine Trail about fourty-five minutes east of me and the second Sephora in Upstate New York. And I can't forget to mention all the museums and festivals here in my own city of Rochster. One of my friends lives in Troy- it's very pretty there and just a short drive into Vermont (Well when you get to Hoosick- if you ever do get there try the Country Veiw Diner, it's practically tradition now) So I go there a few times a year and she comes here. And we can't forget downstate, which no one ever does. Oh yeah and the 1,000 Islands and North Country. I used to live in Killeen Texas just off Ft. Hood the largest Army base in the free world. Worst city on Earth! Seriously! The crime rate is insane there- 2 months before I moved there some woman was dragged from her apartment, raped and left for dead in a feild across from my apartment complex. Oh yeah and some guy was shot in the apartment across from where I got my mail. The rest of Texas is okay, I liked Grapevine, Dallas and San Antonio well enough. But do not go to Killeen if you can avoid it. Vermont is pretty- I've been to Bennington- well I went last year and I will probably go again this year. Las Vegas kicks serious boo-tay! You know if you like all you can eat buffets with good cheap food, gambling, and nearby canyons. Oh and Pheonix! I love Pheonix! I have a friend in Chandler and I can say there is a lot to do there too. Canada is great too, but I've only been to Toronto. I plan on going out to British Columbia next year to visit my boyfriend's family. He keeps promising I'll see some real mountains when I go out there. I also want to go to Alberta and Ireland- but Ireland has to wait until this damn recession ends or I move to British Columbia (Salmon Arm to be exact)

My ex and his wife would pee themselves with joy.. but moving on. The residents I work with all have varying degrees of Alzheimers or dimensia so some of them don't even remember me from hour to hour. Also I only just started this job so although I get along well with my co-workers and such I'm not sure how long they'd remember me as the spaztic one. My family and friends will most definately remember me- I'm pretty unforgetable. I would also hope that my daughter would remember me somehow- even if her father and step-mom tried to brainwash her. My boyfriend- well he'd damn well better remember me or I'll haunt him and the taller younger version of me he hooks up with next. My boyfriend's mom will probably remember me too- hey I scared the crap out of her mom how can I be forgotten? Everyone else- well the people who read my fanfics might just figure I've given up updating. And you guys will probably just think I wandered off and got lost again. :catgirl: As for how I want to be remembered. I want to be remembered as the chatty, somewhat intelligent one with the loud laugh.

Beijing 2008 Olympics (Should China Play Host?)
ChibiHorsewoman replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
Har har har, I never watched the opening ceremonies (stupid exams!), so I wouldn't know :P And YES FINALLY we got three medals today!! We got a silver in rowing; men's pair without coxswain, a gold in wrestling freestyle; women's -48kg Final, AND a bronze in another weight class of the wrestling freestyle, women's -55kg Final. About time Canada!!
I got to watch the opening ceromonies because I work at a senior living community and the staff had the residents watching the ceremonies. It did calm some of them down for a while. And just look up Green ugly Canada olympics 2008 on youtube to find the outfits. Also as of this post you all also got bronze in the 100 metre (Or was it more than that?) swim. I was cheering for Cochrane the whole bloody time (silently so I wouldn't wake anyone up) even though we had Hansen in that competition too. I don't care really, we have enough. And hey, only two years til Vancouver! -
Net result, I'll spend more at a place like Victoria's Secret because the clothing will simply fit and I don't have to attempt to waste my time altering it. I say waste my time since I don't have a sewing machine and I was never good and hand alterations. So it's worth it to shell out a little extra to get stuff that actually fits right.
*nods* I adore Victoria's Secret. I think their bras are the best ever and I will wear no others (Yes, i know you all cared about that :animeblus) I don't care that I either have to wait for those 10$ off coupons or the semi annual clearance, I love that store... and the bras. I will wear expensive bras and cheap clothing (I have a pair of 3$ work pants from walmart*) except for sneakers because I rely on those for work.

So you can mention movies already aired that you've watched on DVD too right? Let's see if I can do this correctly- oh and most everything on this list is animated in one way or another. I haven't seen many 'grown up' movies in the past few- years. Cars- I have a three year old (this will be my excuse for most movies) and she is really into cars, so I figured that I'd buy her a movie about cars for Christmas. I may have watched it completely once or twice. Bee Movie- It had good reviews, and it was slightly educational. Plus Jerry Seinfeild as a bee with over protective bee parents was funny. Enchanted- the fact that I have a 3 year old and earlier in the year there weren't a lot of movies out for youger kids was the reason for this. Also my daughter has a princess infatuation- most toddlers do at that age. She liked it and I liked that at the end
Giselle realized she wanted more than just a prince
yay for happily ever after... I guess. Kung Fu Panda- It was really cute. And well I did like it, and my daughter actually sat still for the whole movie. Which is a bonus. Finding Nemo, Monster's Inc, Mulan, Hercules, Open Season, Over The Hedge, Cinderella 3, Legally Blonde, White Chicks, Naruto movies, and Lilo and Stitch- more times than I can count Iron Man- I saw parts of it, I wasn't scared, I just wasn't paying attention to most of it. We won't get into why. But it was a good movie. Winx Club Secret of the lost Kingdom With all the hype surrounding the movie in Italy I wanted to see it. I'm very glad that I didn't pay money to see this poorly thought out attempt at merchandising. (Thank you Youtube) It was the same as the first three seasons of the show. Bloom gets the spotlight, Riven is hypnotized by a bug and the Trix return. Yawn! I really want to see Mama Mia! Othat than that I just scrolled through my local paper's weekend section and I don't really see anything. Time to go find a video store
Rach, Wal-Mart is awesome! Thrift stores rule! Yup, I've realized I'm cheap, the horror of it all................:animedepr. I don't mean to pry, but drizzt, it's "there" not "their." still working on my correcting people, forgive me.
No shame in being cheap or loving Walmart* (gotta change the style) or even thrift stores. Which reminds me I really want to check out Plato's closet which is across from Hammergirl anime. Which probably means nothing to anyone. Also there is no shame in correcting people's spelling and grammar. I do it all the time. Why? Because I'm annoying.
And who the heck has been praising Fall Out Boy? My gosh. :p
At least they aren't Disney? Okay I admit it. I like Fall Out boy. But I can't stand Miley Cirus- I mean did anyone see her at the CMAs this past May? She sang like a cat who has its tail slammed in a door and it was almost like she was trying to upstage her father- who BTW she owes her fame to her father. I also don't like the Jonas Brothers. Not only is it not my type of music, but they look like they'e trying to be some 80's band and they were born like twelve years too late to even try and be anything close to an 80's band. And what is with that one guy and the sideburns?

Beijing 2008 Olympics (Should China Play Host?)
ChibiHorsewoman replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
Malkav said it best, it's common history to ignore the problems of the host country. Not permanently since I'm not likely to ever forget what happened in Germany. But I think it would be wrong to keep holding that over someone's head. Otherwise all that bribery here would have sent the Olympics elsewhere, yeah that makes sense, punish everyone for the actions of a few.
That's true, and no host country is without it's flaws (some more than others) Civil Rights Violations were ignored in the US during the times we've hosted the Olympic games, Or if not ignored brushed aside for a few weeks. Hitler did his best to clean up Berlin from all his anti Semetic slogans and propaganda- however I for one find it entertaining that Lutz Leibermann (sp) helped Jessie Owens to win gold in the long jump and the so-called racial superiority was never recognized in those games. And no one should ever forget any atrocities, but it's not fair to make these atheletes suffer (especially the US Men's Basketball team, they suffer enough on their own!) By the way it's 10:51PM my time and the Olympics comittee overtunred Serbia's protest of Mike Phelps gold medal. He won by 1/100th of a second. And can anyone tell me if Canada has placed in anything yet? You know besides having the ugliest outfits in the opening ceromonies -
Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
More like their main attraction is the anime. They haven't realized it yet because they're to stupid to realize that Aqua Teen Hunger Force stopped being funny a while ago. Harvey Birdman's pretty good, though.
I know! The crap they have on there now is so unbelievably stupid! The only decent thing I've found is InuYasha and I have to set my DVR to watch it since it airs at 5:30 (They just started the 1st season again last week) I wish they'd get FMA or Kare Kano or Fruits Basket on there. It's like every show on there now is directed at the mentally challenged. -
Beijing 2008 Olympics (Should China Play Host?)
ChibiHorsewoman replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
It's interesting that even though everyone is typing about the repeated human rights violations of China and their most recent revealation that they swicthed girls because the 7 year old with the good voice wasn't 'cute enough. (What are they morons? She was adorble) No one is mentioning all the crap that the Premier of British Columbia is doing while preparing Vancouver for the 2010 winter olympics. So far the mayor and the Premier have relocated the homeless population of Vancouver to other towns in British Columbia and closed a few main roads leading to the near bankruptcy of many small businesses. (BC's current premier is a mainly economy centered )To say nothing of the many protests by First Nation People that have started and the ones that will most likely be happening during the games. Yes China does have worse human rights problems than Canada but these games are used to try and get countries to stop fighting for a week (not that it helped with Georgia and Russia) and learn to play nice. Not to focus on the bad things. -
Long Live Steve And Barry's Especially the store in my area- right now everything in the store is $8.98! That said I think the most I've ever spent on one item of clothing is 65$ for a pair of sneakers (Addidas, white with multicolored butterflies-- I still have them) but I wear sneakers for work and for schlumping about so I can justify it. I can also justify the 2 for 89$ that Lady Footlocker has and I buy them. Also since I work long hours and have to be moving a lot I can justify those 40$ bras at Victoria's Secret. Other than that I'm bargain hunting happy. My friends and I are actually in competition for who can find the best deals. (Marshall's/ TJ Maxx, Kohl's, Steve and Barry's Outlet shopping! I once got a 135$ Coach purse for 60$!) I go for sales all the time, or for Target, I love Target. Last month for my birthday I got a 10$ Target gift card from work and said that it was one of the best gifts ever. Speaking of work I don't really have to worry about 'what to wear' because the shirt is already picked out for me. (lovely maroon colored number) I just have to worry about pants (I need some more flare leg khakis) and sneakers. I'm not allowed to wear excessive jewlry so the 50K necklace would definately be out the window- actually considering some of the residents it would most definately be out the window. Right now I'm just on the look out for some new sneakers- preferably ones by Addidas. Or maybe Sketchers, but I am not going to wear my Sketchers that my mom refers to as my bowling shoes to work because they're suede! My boyfriend on the other hand is even cheaper than me, I think he'd denounce his Canadian citizenship and become an American before paying even 50$ on a pair of sneakers let alone a 50K something or other. He's been wearing the same sneakers for 3 years and only owns them, some snow boots and some work boots! Like everyone keeps saying though I think part of your clothing expenses depend on the job you have. With me as a resident assistant at a senior living community all I have to be concerned with is comfortable footwear (and comfortable underwear) and that I'm clean and presentable. But for someone in an office job or where they have to make a lasting first impression something more upscale would be more acceptable. But it is always nice to find a bargain.

Which three CDs can't you live with out?
That
is so
Dutch. I prefer their work before this album, though. Mother Earth was neat beans as in that the vocals impressed many people through all generations pretty much.
Ehj it's not really my fault entirely. Obamas Oil Plan, A Step in the Right Direction
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Godot's topic in General Discussion
It's sort of disheartening that a lot of people just resort to "both candidates suck, America is screwed anyway". The US is not screwed. Will we have to adjust to not being the only superpower in the future? Yes. Will it take time to recover from the last 8 years? Yes. But we're not screwed.
I agree. We're not screwed yet. It's entirely possible for the US to recover from the nightmare that was the Bush administration. We just have to make adjustments. Both candidates- despite what you think of either of them- seem to have a good head on their shoulders, are educated (yes okay so was Bush :animesigh) and don't seem to be as hard headed as the person they will be replacing. We just need a way to do it. And then we need the rest of government to agree that they should start working for the people they represent instead of for their own personal interests. (This should go for the president as well. One of Obama's ideas is to issue another round of stimulus checks if he is elected (This IMHO is one of the few intelligent things that Bush did this year) to try and boost the economy. Right now with the stock market going up and the price of oil going down it looks promissing. Who knows, maybe the next president- instead of saying that increasing minimum wage would hurt the economy (oh no! The rich wouldn't have such a high gap! Whatever shall we do?) would do it we could finally get some more spending. Okay I know that increasing income for the middle and lower class wouldn't be a cure all. But it would be a start. As for the energy crisis- maybe both Obama and McCain should listen to Paris Hilton's ideas on the subject? -
Which three CDs can't you live with out?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
Okay I have some new choices. Well it's been four years so I sure hope I have some new choices. All We Know Is Falling- Paramore- This cd is perfect for keeping me awake (Along with Riot) Taylor Swift- self titled- The two choice songs on here are Picture to Burn and Shoulda said no. Within Temptation- The Silent ForceOkay yes it's slightly heavier than everything else I listen to, but I still like it. Angels is probably one of my favorite songs ever. -

Obamas Oil Plan, A Step in the Right Direction
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Godot's topic in General Discussion
The only thing you save when you maintain the proper tire pressure is gas because the tire pressure affects gas mileage and any moron can figure that out (I hope). You can also save gas by keeping up with basic maintenence (A simple oil change can do wonders) and not allowing my ex to drive your car. Concerning the declining American dollar the only way that will improve is by improving our economy and we can't improve our economy without a government that is concerned about the people it is supposed to govern. We need to increase the minimum wage to a living wage like say 11$ an hour. (With this economy who can really afford a damn thing on 7.50$ an hour? Yes, I'm serious- that's what our governement considers sufficient. Yeah, maybe if you're like 16 and living with mom and dad, but not when you're an adult. Heck what I make an hour isn't even that much after taxes and yet my wonderful county executive has decided that if you make more than 19K a year you don't deserve to get help with child care.) We as a whole need to learn how to reduce our dependancy on non renewable resources. Maybe the next president could help with that. That said McCain would fit in nicely in a senior living community he can sit back with his peers and reminice about the good old days while bothering the staff about his snack. I'm not saying that this is where most seniors should go, I'm just saying it's where McCain might like to go after he loses in November. -
Hey I still live, I just haven't been able to be here in a while. So I guess I'll shut up and add some more They lied- apperantly hard work does kill people Honestly what is wrong with you, wearing a dead woman's shoes. Were you raised in a barn? (Wicked Reference) Okay okay! Stop staring at me! Don't worry about it! I wrote my eulogy in grade twelve. (This is true. My twelfth grade English teacher had the class write eulogies for themselves after we read Our Town. I don't know what happened to mine.) Blame Canada! Looks like flying around in a bubble isn't for everyone. Yeah crappy come back!
That and I also heard that Michelle and Hillary get along about as well as rival celebrities do. Kinda like when Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie got into it. Or something like that. Either way I can't imagine living in a house in which those two harpies resided. Oh goodness it would be just so .....fun.
I'd pay to see that done... hmm maybe MTV could bring back Celebraty Death Match for just such an occasion Anyways... Not really a fan of Michelle Obama myself since all she really seems to do is whine about how unfairly she's been treated as an American and has said that the only time she's felt proud to be an American is when her husband was running for president and winning. She actually told the View she'd only appear on their show as a guest co-host since Cindi (or something like that) McCain has been a guest Co-host numorous times. What a brat. But hey she's not running on the ballot and I won't be voting for her come November and it's really unfair to judge a candidate based on his or her spouse's actions because they won't be running the country- just being the first mate...spouse? As for running mate- the word out now is that Obama is considering Clinton as one possibility. It's also reported that Clinton isn't pushing his discision (oh yeah and right now I can't spell, but that's not a topic)which is very smart of her.

I know I've already replied to this, but I have to throw two more cents into the ring. I don't see why so many people are up in arms about gay marriage when there are so many other important issues at hand. Things like the rising costs of fuel and food, the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and who's going to be the next American Idol should outrank if Bobbie and Benny or Debbie and Tiffani are getting married. Get your priorities in order!
So us Christians may not like it. So what? Our precepts do not tell us to forcibly subjugate the governing laws to our purposes, but tells us how to conduct our own business. If the laws where we live do not line up with our beliefs, either we deal with it or we leave, unless we're being unfairly oppressed, and I don't see that happening here.
Caution Chibi Horsewoman is opperating on cold meds and having dealt with a crazy man for 3 hours you have been warned: I'm not getting what Christians may not like. I'm Christian (Roman Catholic with some other beliefs thrown in for fun) and I don't see any good reason why same sex couples shouldn't be allowed to argue about which way the toilet paper roll sits on the dispenser and whether to have chicken or fish at the reception the way us straight people do. Really is the sanctity of marriage (Lord I think my keyboard just snorted) so fragile that we should really believe that if we allow April and Eve to register for china patterns the whole damn thing is just gonna crack? Oh no, I bloody well hope not. I don't see what the big deal is about why only straight people should be allowed to get stressed out. It should be one of those fundamental rights. (New York passed a law last week that recognizes same sex marriages from outside of New York state Besides Canada allows same sex couples to marry in all their provinces- why can't the US do the same?
