Anime Anime Ratings vs. American Ratings
ChibiHorsewoman replied to EVA Unit 100's topic in Otaku Central
This is a very interesting thread, and I think I can ad onto it. I have both season one and two of Sailor Moon in my possesion *digs out cases* which were released by ADV. They both have a 15+ rating. Why? Because Usagi
uses the luna pen to get into a night club and is almost served alcohal? because she got drunk once?
or because of Zoisite and Kunzite's relationship? Maybe because with the exception of Moon, the transformation for the senshi has the lines of their boobs and butts? Yeah, lines...whew who! Show me more! I also have some of the DVDs (all of teh 3rd season) that Pioneer released and the rating was only 13+. And then there's my Fushigi Yugi series plus the two OAVs and the rating on that was only 13+. And Fushigi Yugi has a lot more violence and nudity than Sailor Moon could ever hope to have. Can someone explain that to me? Also, why do some stores like FYE for example have the anime near the adult videos and DVDs? This just makes no sense. -
Alternatively, just take a gander at this, and be glad her that fictional-character-fetish isn't nearly as bad. That guy's site is freaking scary. ~Dagger~
You're right, that is scary. I wonder if I can introduce the guy to my mother-in-law

Some Days you're the windsheild, some days you're the bug.-line from a country song that I can't remember the singer or the name of-Sometimes you're going to have everything going your way and there will be no problems what so ever. Other times you may have just as well stayed in bed and not gone anywhere or done anything because you're just going to regret it. Either way the best you can do is just stick it out and deal with it. It's better to keep your mouth shut and have everyone think you're an idiot than to open your mouth and prove them right-line from a t-shirt-I just typed this one in a reply to a post I made because someone had said something stupid, so stupid I may delete my IM conversation with Lincoln and put that quote in instead. You shouldn't just open your mouth and spout nonsense simply because noise comes out of your mouth in the first place. You should think first review your facts and then say something if it fits in with the subject...ok, so I should learn to take my own advice too huh? I'll be pissed if it's something stupid again-Ferio from RayEarth-Wouldn't you be pissed if someone had said something or done something stupid over and over again? Tommy, what could be wrong with ice cream?-Phil Rugrats-I think that's a very good question. When is there anything wrong with ice cream? Unless of course you're lactose intolerant...or you're one of those idiots on atkins and can't eat ice cream because it has carbs. Other than that there is nothing wrong with ice cream. Fact: Cats don't come with brakes-Lysol commercial Well, have you ever seen a cat with brakes? No, so you shouldn't leave things on counters or uncarpeted floors. Instead you should pick things up so cats don't slide into them...or outfit your cat with brakes. Brittney Spears is a threat to the sanctity of marriage, you can get married drunk, but you can't get married gay.-Whoopi Well, it's true, you can't get in a car and drive drunk legally without consequences, but you can apparently get married when you're drunk. I think that's insulting to people who got married not only sober, but knowing what we were doing and being swerious about it. -
There is stuff out there to prevent pregnancy if the woman gets pregnant its hers and hers mates fault not her child and he shouldnt be punish by being killed.[/FONT']
Condoms break, birth control isn't 100% effective. Accidents happen. It's really nobody's fault if both parties took precautions to try and avoid such an occurance. If not well, hindsight is 20/20 and even though I believe that you should take responsibility for your actions it's not my place to tell someone that they can't do soemthing with their body.
there are pills to take after intercourse that, if taken within a certain period of time after the incident, will render a woman infertile. called a "rape pill" by some cops becuase rapists actually usually give their victims these things, or the police will give a victim this same pill once they are discovered.
I believe that you're talking about the Morning after pill. I forgot the other name for it, but you seriously have the results of this pill way way way off. Along with the facts. First (unless you're not in the US) I've never heard of anyone besides a doctor giving out the morning after pill. This includes police and rapists. Why would a rapist want to give someone a pill to try and prevent an egg from embeding itsself in the uterus in the first place? Second, although the FDA has allowed the sale of the morning after pill many pharmisists and doctors don't have it...you can go to planned parenthood if you feel the need to. But it's very hard to obtain. Just ask any woman who has tried to get it. Third, this pill is not used by rapists or police, it can probably be obtained by rape victims and it can only be used in the first 48 hours (I believe) after that the woman has to wait until she's missed her period take a pregnancy test and make another desicion. The main reason a woman would use this pill is if she and her patrner had sex and the condom broke. Fourth, the morning after pill will not make a woman infertile. Who ever told you that was on some kind of pill themself...a whole assortment of them. Please try to get your facts from a reliable source and get them straight before you put them up and swear by them. Better to keep your mouth shut and have everyone think you're a fool than open your mouth and prove them right. Ok, now that that's over I'd like to address the person a few posts back who said she was against adoption...why? It's a lot better than abortion. The child not only gets to live but gets a chance at a better life than what its mother could have offered. How do I know that? Well, I'm adopted. I think it's extremely selfish to try and raise a child in an environment where the child won't be able to experiance everything there is to offer. Or to end up with a parent who isn't emotionally ready to raise a child. There are many couples who are unable to have children who would like to adopt and are on extremely long waiting lists. Yes, I know it's a very hard desicion, you grew this child in you for 9 months and gave up a lot of things that you loved (like sleep, chocolate, alcohol and being able to not pee every three seconds) But if you're not ready to have a child and you don't believe in having an abortion than adoption is the best way to go. There are even open adoptions where you can make arrangements with the child's adoptive parents to see the child.

I'm glad to see that this thread is getting some interesting replies...so I thought up some more quotes. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye, and then hey, free eyeball.-t-shirt Well, if someone loses an eye it's finder's keepers right? Don't steal, the government hates competition-unknown Well, you shouldn't steal in the first place because it's wrong, but the government probably does hate competition. If you love a waist, you waste a love.-Yolen If you only look for looks when you look for a relationship then you do waste your love. Because there shoudl be more to loving someone than just their looks. Sex, Chinese acrobats, and show business. Nobody stays on top forever. George BUrns It's true, nobody stays on top forever. Some days you win and some days you lose. -
I think we may have done this thread a while ago, but well, here we go again right? The basic of the thread is exactly what it says up there, but please don't forget to actually tell who said it and why it means something to you. And since I'm talking I'll start. Nobody can make you feel inferior except for yourself-Eleanor Roosevelt This is a very true fact because no matter what other people are saying about you the only person that can make what they're saying true is yourself. If you don't listen to those people then you're not an inferior person. My love for you, that is my only sin-Shakesphere I'm not sure why I picked this one except that sometimes being in love with someone is considered sinful. Just look at the 14 page homosexuality thread. People start their lives at once when they are able to live for something other than themselves.-Albert Einstein- It's true in my opinion once you start learning that there are other people out there besides yourself and you begin to care about other people and do things for other people then you truely do begin to live your life. We cannot share a sorrow, if we haven't grieved a while. Nor can we feel another's joy, until we've learned to smile-An Irish blessing You can't understand a person's grief and try to help them through their pain unless you've had some pain in your life-that's why you have troubles in your life. And you can't be happy with someone until you've learned to be happy with yourself Do not resent growing old. Many are denied the privledge-An Irish blessing -Don't get up one morning and complain about how old you are (ok so most of us are teens and preteens in here) because there are many people who die before they grow old. Doubt that? Just look at how many children died in the Tsunami. I don't have any more to add right now, but I know I will later. I really hope this all works...and remember Spam is bad...mmm kay?
Girls know that anime boys are not real .[/SIZE']
Gah! What do you mean they're not real? Oh well, I guess I should stop lusting after Duo Maxwell from Gundam wing and find me a real man...wait I have one. Seriously though, maybe your girlfriend is just pretending to like this anime guy because she wants to get rid of you, but instead of being up front with you about it she's making it seem as though she's in love with an anime guy. I think maybe she wants you to break up with her so she can be with a guy that she likes. Yeah, that's definately it. Problem solved, discussion over! Now if you'll excuse me I have to go back over to my stand and charge $0.05 for Psychiatric help.

What do you look for in a guy/girl?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Farto the Magic's topic in General Discussion
I'm tempted to say 'this' then upload a picture of my husband onto this post and leave it at that, but that would be spam. And spam is bad...mmm kay? As far as I know most women want a man who loves them for who they are, not for what they want them to suddenly morph into. For that matter I think that's what most guys look for too. I like guys with a good sense of humor and good hygene and that treat me nice. I also want to be able to have good conversations with them that involve more than 'pro' wrestling. We don't have to agree on everything, I don't even agree with Lincoln about everything. (Hell, I could probably date Drix or DB and not kill him) we just have to have good intelligent conversations about more than 'gangs' and backyard wresteling unless they're spoken of in the past tense. Looks come after. Sure if you just want someone to look at all day looks should come first. But if you want someone to look at all day you could just buy a poster of some goodlooking person or print one off a website...or get a blow up doll for that matter. And you should be able to trust the person because with out trust there really isn't any point in starting a relationship is there? So everything I mentioned is what I look for in a guy...if I was still looking of course. -
I am 12 years old...Hmm if you are thinking I am young and that I dont belong here...I dont care. Heck, wait 30 years and you'll do it again, but this time you'll say you're younger instead of older.
Actually, Drix has a valid point. The fact is, most recent 'punk' bands are simply following the stereotype of what 'punk' is supposed to be, and that includes Green Day. And most punk fans tend to be elistists who decide that what they like is real punk, and the rest are posers.
I could really care less if what I'm listening to is considered punk by a bunch of elitists who think that just because a band is being played on MTV and the radio they're suddenly sell-outs and not punk anymore. (ie Good Charlotte, which yeah, I like and I have their first CD along with their second and third) My Goddess quit trying to sound cool. I'm not quite sure what a poser is, but I'm pretty sure I'm not one...can you be poser when you reach your mid twenties? I hate when people try to say well so and so isn't punk because everyone's heard of them....Yeah well, the same is going to happen to your bands soon, and take off that damn Ramone's sweatshirt. You're too young to even know who the Ramones are. Honestly there are so many pre-teens and just teens with no idea who they are let alone who some punk bands are. Oh, and I like Avril Levine too! I hope some day she kicks Hillary Duff's uh...duff! ke ke ke

What do otakus think about Homosexuality?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Miryoku's topic in General Discussion
Then get married. Let their ministers/priests/rabbis marry them, let them exchange rings. Just don't take it into a public forum and try to change the current social insitution. That's what I'm arguing.
But isn't a church or a synogaugh or a mosque a public forum? So wouldn't that be doing what you don't want them to do? You want to talk failed marriages, look at all of Hollywood...I think 10 years is the current record there. And guess what, they're all straight. I think it's funny that so many opponents of gay marriage claim that marriage is a sacred and holy thing. Ok, maybe it's a sacred thing now, but it hasn't always been that way and it sure wasn't that way hundreds of years ago when the church first got involved. Arranged marriages are hardly sacred unions between two people who love eachother. i'll add more later, i have a baby to take care of -
I'm guessing that the scott peterson thread was merged with this one or vice versa. Well, anyway I'm going to give a very quick explaination of the difference between an embryo and a fetus. I hope this will give some clarification on the subject of pro-life vs. pro-choice. An embryo is completely dependant on the mother for life, it can not breath on its own if it was removed. It can not eat. An ultrasound can not be given to determine the sex of an embryo as the sex organs have not formed yet. Therefore I don't think that an embryo should suddenly be given the same rights as its mother. Or have its rights placed over the mother's. However a fetus (in my opinion a pregnancy over five months) can live on its own outside the mother. It can learn to eat on its own and breath on its own. An ultra sound can be done to determine the sex of the baby. If a misscarriage happens around this time an opperation has to be done to remove the fetus instead of a misscarriage during the first trimester. That said, I don't see why everyone is so angry at a woman when she gets an abortion since the majority of abortions performed in the us are during the first trimester-they aren't allowed during the second or third. Yes, she knew what she was getting into when she had sex, but maybe the condom broke, or her birth control didn't work. And why should the woman be the only one held responsible for her actions in this? It takes two people to make a baby since humans aren't hermaphrodites. One of my friends had an abortion almost three years ago. It was a hard descision for her to make, but she did it. She's not too proud about it, but it was better than getting kicked out of her house like what happened to two of our other friends. (Yes, I'm probably one of the smartest of my friends because my pre marital sex didn't result in a pregnancy) If we really want to stop unplanned pregnancies in the first place, maybe school districts should work harder to get better sex ed classes in their schools. I heard of this one district in Texas (hmmm) that actually took sex ed out of their curriculum even though they have one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the country. So yeah, lets start there. Ok, my 2 cents are in, fire away.

Drix mentioned this a while back in the Scott Peterson thread, but I never had time to act on it. Until now. What are people's opinions on abortion? Should it be allowed to remail legal in the United States (or if it is legal wher eyou live should it remain that way?) Do you know of anyone who has had an abortion? Ect Ect ect. All I'm asking for is a bit of maturity when talking about this topic. Actually a lot of maturity, the same maturity that's needed on the thread about homosexuality. I believe that abortions should be allowed to remain legal. Although I would never get one myself exept under the most extreme circumstances, I don't believe that it's my right to tell another woman what she is allowed to do with her body. This is a fairly strange stance for me to take on this subject because I am the result of an unplanned pregnancy to a young woman with limited means. However, my birth mother gave me up for adoption, which is a hard choice and I respect her for it. I'll probably elaborate more later, but I've got to run. Take care and Blessed be!

What do otakus think about Homosexuality?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Miryoku's topic in General Discussion
Yes, I agree with that. Some people just get these homosexual thoughts and are tempted to try them. From a religious point of view, if one has these thoughts, God won't punish them if they control their desires and stop themselves from commiting homosexual acts. Some people have grown desensitized to violence from being exposed to it all the time. Some people might even have a desire to kill people and actually take pleasure from it. Maybe they are even born with the desire to kill, but that doesn't make it okay to kill people. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I honestly see homosexuality as a perversion that should be avoided. And there are many other types of sexual perversions in addition to homosexuality, such as orgies, threesome sexual acts, rape, pornography and prostitiution. All of these are harmful to the people involved and society in general. It's understandable that people can get these desires, but they should not act on them.
Ok, so if I'm reading this post correctly homosexuals are just as bad as murderers, rapists and pedophiles? Wow, how much time should homosexuals get in prison then? I hate to break it to you, but God doesn't hate homosexuals and I doubt he actually hates homosexuality either. This is also from a religious point of veiw of a former Catholic turned Wiccan. What about that Psalm? Loving and forgiving are you or lord, slow to anger and rich in kindness? I don't think that God (your God my God and Goddess, someone elses Gods) actually sits around in heaven and says: 'Hey, Billy R. just decided to come to terms with being gay, I think I'm going to smite him.' No, God loves everyone. Now, I've never participated in a threesome, nor do I have any desire to, but I really don't see how that would be detrimental to society as a whole. It's hardly the same thing as rape since in a three some or an orgie all participents are willing. Rape has absolutely nothing to do with sex, it has to do with power and control over another person reguardless of sexual orientation or gender. Rape bad, threesomes and orgies-good way to get a few diseases and maybe get a free kid at the end of 9 months. I don't feel that society has become more desensitized toward homosexuality, I think it's just become more common and acceptalble to come out of the closet than it was 20 years ago. I think our society has just matured a bit more despite the existance of extremist religion groups...Gardenarian Trad included. I don't have anything to add to this so uh, have a nice day. -
. I bet you anything that my grandma can beat your mother-in-law. She's a sweet old lady but doesn't know the term "hands off", infact she even spanked my x-boyfriendsand complimented on how "cute he was". She also likes to grab other parts O.O; you don't even know how embarrasing that is. She's half-hungarian so most the time she misunderstands what your talking about and will make my friends sit down to talk about her life and world war II and how awful it is. Half the time she forgets that they are here to talk to me, and not her and gets annoyed when I try and talk with my friends. She also has two "boyfriends" and tries to dance infront of my friends. Which I have to admit is kinda funny especially when dancing to a rap song[/SIZE']
Your grandma and Wiccan Samurai's grandpa sound like they have my mother-in-law beat, but let me elaborate a bit more. My mother-in-law had a (n invisible) boyfriend who was supposed to be heir to the Spalding (ie basket balls) fortune, but then his plane crashed and he died. Her brother who is supposedly in the Hell's Angels is 'responsible' for killing him so he doesn't exist any more. She doesn't shower or bathe at all and has 7 cats in a one bedroom apartment. She gets jealous of how much time and attention my husband spends on me, our daughter or anyone else...let's see....She thinks that any guy (including my dad who has been married to my mom for 30 years) who talks to her wants to get with her. My mother-in-law dresses like a
Sk]anky
20 something because she's a size 00. She's a size 00 because all she eats is beef jerky and she skips eating for days even though she has pleanty of food stamps...One of her neighbor's kids (who is actually her neice) asked her for a box of pasta once and Sandy (my MIL ) told her that it was in the freezer so she couldn't use any. Oh, let's see, Lincoln told me that once she used one of those telephone dating services and when the guy showed up he took one look at her and said he had to repark his car. He never came back. And to top it all off she got **** face drunk at mine and Lincoln's wedding reception and got mad at me for yelling at her about it. She said it was because of her boyfriend's death...not because her sister (who she doesn't really talk to) wouldn';t give her $300. Oh yeah, when Lincoln got back from Korea the first thing she said to him was 'can I have $350? She hadn't seen the only one of her 2 kids that speaks to her in a year and instead of asking how he was or saying she missed him, Sandy asked him for money. So yeah, after I pay my bills I'll donate $20 to the red cross, but I still don't think anyone can beat all that.

What about Comic party? I just didn't like it. I watched one episode of it I think I paid $7/50 to watch it too. And I just didn't care for it. Maybe I should try to watch it again since i usually do that before making a final judgement on an anime. but i don't think I'll pay for it like i did last time.

This is just a really dumb idea I came up with last night when I was watching InuYasha and the Panther thingys. They seem to be having such a hard time fighting those guys. Well, I thought of what they can use to defeat them-CATNIP! I mean, they're cats right? And cats go crazy for catnip. So just have Kagome escape back to her time and get an obscene amount of catnip to subdue them with and then attack and destroy. Simple enough huh? Too bad they'd never do it
Ah road rage, I live in a town where it is common to see the bumper sticker: "Keep honking, I'm reloading". The sad thing is that they probably really mean it!!
I can sympathize with that Panda. The place that I lived in in Texas and where I live in New York is like that too. Over in the Albany area we had some guy kill a teacher from road rage...ok, so Albany is a 4 hour drive, but it's still in New York. I've got a question, can grocery store incidents count as road rage? Because I have a good one that happened a few weeks ago...of course it happened in the grocery store so that's why I'm asking. I was coming out of one of the aisles and this little girl almost hit my with her mom's shopping cart. The little girl said she was sorry, but then her mom goes, don't worry some people just don't watch where they're going. The girl goes 'Who me?' and the woman replies no. So I snapped back, "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know it was my job to watch where your kid was going.' Then I walked away. Yeah, so it wasn't in a parking lot and it didn't involve a car...maybe you could call that store rage...or maybe cart rage.

I thought of more: *Wondering what the hell that white stuff was in Charle's avatar...sorry I have a sick mind. *When Boba Fett told me that I seemed like an intelligent person in one of my debate threads *People just losing it in the 3 worst movie thread. It was kind of funny in a creepy obsessed way. And yes, I still don't like The Hours or Blair Witch Project. *Getting DeathBug for an estranged brother. That was pretty cool. *The bunny with a pancake picture on one of the threads. I liked it so much I turned it into my desktop, but then my mom deleted all my pictures and I put Lincoln holding abby as mydesktop picture so I don't have it anymore. But I would like that picture again...so if someone wouldn't mind emailing it to me. *Winning one of the picture caption games :D Yeah, that's it from me.
Resolutions are usually empty promises; if you're not already working towards them by the time it's 1 Jan, the odds you'll start are pretty low. *Work out my position regarding a specific female: Well, really, this isn't your business.
I started doing 50 sit ups a day after Christmas and am trying to cut out my junk food intake so there we go on the weightloss thing. Sometimes my family just makes me glad that I'm adopted and I have the papers to prove it. :D And then there's my mother-in-law who just makes me glad that sometimes the apple falls very very very far from the tree. The best example I have of how my family makes me glad to be adopted is the time my mom's side went to an Italian resturuant for my papa's 75th birthday. My brother ordered spegghetti and my aunt Marty, goddess love her, asked him if he wanted balls with that! And there's always my brother who tries to run over squirells in his car. I swear if you say squirell he'll jump in his car and drive over someone's lawn to hit it  My mother-in-law leaves pleanty of examples. She's suggested that I stick my daughter in a pillowcase when I told her that Abby was having trouble sleeping at night. She asked her neighbor if she thought I left my daughter in the car when I went up to see Lincoln's cousin's room and left Abby at home with my dad. Oh and once she threw a temper tantrume in Payless because I suggested she try on a different size pair of shoes than the ones she had in her hand. :flaming: I dare anyone to top my mother-in-law! If you can I'll donate $10 to the red cross for the Tsunami relief fund.
-
Whoa I really am getting slow in my old age. I didn't even know if there was a thread to this tsunami until today *pokes herself*. I heard about the Tsunami the day after Christmas when I was up at 4:15 AM EST or so changing and feeding my daughter. There really isn't anything on except CNN at that time so I decided to watch. At that time the death toll was only 10,000 and all I could think of was-"I've lived and driven through towns with less people than that.' It was pretty sad. Yesturday when I was watching the news they were showing before and after aerial shots of this one city in Sri Lanka I believe. The before shots were of a scene with buildings and such, the after had nothing. I think if anyone wants to send money they could try redcross.org or something like that. That's the only one I could think of. There are so many sad stories from this disaster. I heard one on the Today show yesturday that this woman went there with three children and she's only coming back with one. I can't immagine anything like that. The worst part of it is that most of the victims have been children becuase they ran out to the shore when the water was going out to collect shells. I'd type more but my right wrist is starting to hurt since I've been typing since 11:am Blessed Be.
