I guess this can be a broad reaching thread to discuss which anime or even movies you thought were dubbed well or done in such and alwful frightening way you were itching to rip your ears or the voce actress's voice box off or out. You choose. Just please tell me why you think it was so bad or pretty good. Hands down I think that the SailorMoon English dub was the worst thing I've ever seen in my entire life-and I had to watch this really dumb show in my high school Spanish class and I've had to watch Barney. Now, mind you when I first saw the show the only thing I thought was bad was the voice actors and actresses-especially Terri Hawkes who did the voice of Serena/Sailor Moon. I knew nothing about the original show, I just thought it was an actual new cartoon. Then I got on the internet and began discussing the show with a friend of mine in Biology class. That's when the proverbial crap hit the fan. Not only did I find out that Zoysite is actually Zoicite and a boy, but he's in love with Kunzite. Not only that, but later on I find out that entire episodes werecut out completely and edited within an inch of thier lives. Names were changed for Goddess knows what reason which messed with some of the Mytholgy. In short the English dub is pretty much a different show from the original. Oh, and they turned decently frank Rei into Raye the Be-yotch! Then there's a few anime dubs that I'm on the fence about namely Fushigi Yugi and InuYasha. Most of the reasons with those are that some of the dub voices scare me (not that Miaka's Japanese voice does my ears much kindness either since she and ChibiUsa share a voice actress). But some of the dialog was changed around a bit. Also for some strange reason InuYasha's english Va seems to be absentmindedly adding the ess on priestess. Why? I'll add more later, I have to feed Abby.

What is The song with the most beautiful lyrics?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to PWNED's topic in Noosphere
Damn, Ring stole my one song-Broken by Seether I like the version featuring Amy Lee better than the original acustic version, but both are very good. I heard the end of Broken a few times on the radio, but i didn't know who sang it or what it was called. Then a few weeks ago I was online with my husband and he mentioned how he had learned to play the bass cords to Broken and how I should learn the lyrics. So I went on Google and typed in Broken-then typed in Amy Lee after Broken gave me too many links that I didn't want. My favorite part of the song is the second Chorus which goes: 'Cause I'm broken when I'm open And I don't feel like I am strong enough 'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome And I don't feel right when you're gone away It basically sums up how my husband and I feel about eachother (feel free to skip thru this part) sicne we're apart from eachother so much yet we get so much from eachother. My other choice is leather and Lace sung by Stevie Nicks and Don Henley It goes like this Is a love so fragile? And the heart so hollow Shatter with words...impossible to follow You're sayin' I'm fragile... I try not to be, I search only... for somethin' I can't see I have my own life... and I am stronger than you know But I carry this feelin'...when you walked into my house That you won't be walkin' out the door Still I carry this feelin'...when you walked into my house That you won't be walkin' out the door CHORUS: Lovers forever....face to face My city or mountains...stay with me stay I need you to love me...I need you today Give to me your leather....take from me...my lace You in the moonlight..with your sleepy eyes Could you ever love a man like me? And you were right..when I walked into your house I knew I'd never want to leave Sometimes I'm a strong man, sometimes cold and scared and sometimes I cry...... But that time I saw you...I knew with you to light my nights.... somehow I'd get by CHORUS Lovers forever....face to face My city or mountains...stay with me stay I need you to love me...I need you today Give to me your leather....take from me...my lace Take from me....my lace Take from me....my lace One reason I like this one is because I danced to it at my wedding. The other is becuase it's one of the few songs I can get Lincoln to sing with me. Yeah, I'm sentimental -
Wow!!! You guys really do Shaman stuff, like in the anime, Shaman King? That's so cool! I Wish I could. Do you channel ghost spirits into your body, too?
Yes, and then we all go and turn people into frogs and stick them on the highway  Shamanism is a type of religion atleast in my understanding. It's kind of like being a medicine man. I don't know too much about it since I've never had much of a pull toward Shamanism, but I have read a book on it a while back. The point I'm trying to make is that you shouldn't try to confuse a religion with what you see in an anime. People will laugh at you if you do.

Even more gifts...well, 'tis the season for giving, right? SailorMoon Usagi-A hair cut because one of these days she'll trip over those pig-tails of hers and break her neck if they aren't chopped off. Cliff notes because maybe she'd study if she had some easier manuals. A tutor preferably one that's not a friend of hers to make her get down to business so she can pass her college entrance exams. And a personal shopper because the clothes she has right now are pretty bad. Mimette-A chance to be on either American Idol or maybe a chance to make her own Japanese Idol. Minako-The same as what Mimette received from me. What can I say, I'm not very creative right now. Berusche, Lead Crow, and Aluminum Siren-Pants simply because their legs have got to be getting cold by now. Zirconia-Botox to clear up the wrinkles and reconstructive surgery becauase that neck of hers just really freaks me out. Rayearth Acione-Pants because I'm sure her legs are getting cold too. and some new clothes because that thong she wears can't be very comfortable for riding that horse of hers. Fuu-A class in descision making so she isn't always hemming and hawing about every little thing. Ferio- Reconstructive surgery for that big scar of his. A holder for his sword, or maybe a new sword all together because the one he has now has got to be quite heavy. Gundam Wing Hiiro-Anger management so he isn't always waving a gun in someone's face. Public speaking classes so he talks a bit more. Duo-A death scythe plushie And a whole new wardrobe for the entire cast.
Ah yes Cloricus I remember his arguements though in my opinion he was nowhere near as bad as Crimson Spider, now there was an *** when it came to opinions. If I remember correctly he made some jackass point about homosexuality in a thread about six months ago. Got a few Most Opinionated [/B'] votes for all the wrong reasons.
Oh yeah I remember Crimson Spider he hasn't been on much, but there were always these ungodly long posts whenever there was a topic of controversial nature. It sometimes should be about quality instead of quantity. I've also butted heads a few times with Boba over a few topics and of course Death Bug. But DB's my bro. It doesn't bother me too much if soemoen has a problem with me-you can't make everyone like you...unless you're Barbie or a millionare

Let's hope this whole thing doesn't go through. That's one of the reasons I'm so against Bush in the first place (a reason I intend to tell my riding instructor the next time we get into a political debate) he has no idea how to separate church from state in his views on politics. This is also why I'm so afraid of the fact that COndoleeza Rice is now the Secretary of State (she won't say no to Bush) and the Republicans are now in the majority with conservatives abound-including those who strongly oppose Roe vs Wade. However, this bill is so clearly in violation of the separation of Church and state that the only way it would pass is (hopefully) if everyone was smashed upside the head with a 2x4

Most painful ([physically painful) experiance ever
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
 I can't believe a man would tell a chick to hit another man in the ballsack...guess Chibi didn't warn anybody that I post on here too...damn. This site might not be quite as amusing now... And you are TOTALLY not getting a card at Christmastime!
Why don't you tell everyone about the time Morales pinched your nipple with a pair of needle nose pliers because you were tweeking your nipple with them for fun and you came home with a scab on your nipple? Or maybe about the time Apsey hit you in the nuts with a soda bottle because you flicked him in the nuts with a pencil. I swear, the things you military guys do when there aren't any Humvees to wash or cigarettes to smoke  ! Why the hell were you tweeking your nipple in the first place? Oh, and fess up, nobody gets Christmas cards from you anyway! -
Or whatever else you celebrate. Whew, long title huh? Yeah, I know that it's November, but for Americans Thanksgiving is a week from tomorrow so that means that it's just about time to shop for everyone before you end up writing checks (Old Navy commerical) So I'm curious as to what you'd get for either your favorite or least favorite anime characters. Please try to explain why if at all possible so the post isn't spammy (ok, mommy gene acting up again). I hope to see some really interesting things. As for myself: Fushigi Yugi Miaka-A Tamahome plushie so she won't annoy everyone by whining about where her Tamahome is. And a few gift certificates to various resturaunts so Tamahome isn't crying about his money going down the drain. Tamahome-A list of stock options to increase his annual income and net worth. A meeting with a financial planner so he isn't constantly worried about how much money he has and worrying about going broke on a regular basis. And a trip to a spa...preferably not one where he has to dress up like a girl. Tasuki-Sake. What, were you expecting-hot chocolate? A membership to a wine of the month club. Some dancing lessons as well. Come on, have you ever seen that dance he does with that bandit friend of his? Oh, and maybe a membership to AA, since I don't think the first two gifts were all that appropriate. Nakago Anger management classes so he doesn't feel the need to lie, use people for his own advantage and kill innocent creatures. A gift certificate to Regis, becase that mullet just has to go. InuYasha Naraku-Anger management classes so he doesn't feel this sudden urge to take revenge on people for things that happened 50 years ago. For the love of El, get over it! A professional hair stylist-the one he has now should be shot. InuYashaAnger Management it's the gift that keeps on giving! Beleive me he needs it as much as anyone. A spot on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy as the Straight guy so thet can do something about well...everything. A year's supply of ramen so Kagome doesn't have to keep dragging it around in her bottomless pit of a bag. Oh and an interpersonal communications class so he can learn how to interact with people. Kagome-Cliff's notes so she doesn't have to carry all those heavy school books back and forth. Aromatherapy candles and a week at a spa to just relax and not think about collecting jewel shards-or Kikyo and InuYasha. I'll think of more later and I hope you like the festive colors. Happy gift giving and happy whatever Fixed tags for you, heh ^_~ -Solo
So what are you doing for our troops?
Well my husband (lcrisler) is stationed in Iraq (30miles north of Bagdad) at the moment. So I send him boxes pretty much every week. They contain the usual stuff like food, magazines, kool-aid and at times cds. For his birthday I gave him an MP3 player some Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers, some shorts and a t-shirt. Occasionally we send him socks. Whatever Lincoln doesn't eat he shares with his friends. If you want to send things to guys over seas you can contact your local reserve station or recuiting office. Or email lcrisler, he has some other addresses that you could use. Especially since some guys don't get stuff sent to them. Blessed Be- CHW

Maybe by village you can mean your family instead of an entire community since now a days most communities tend to just stick to themselves and in ancient times (don't mind me, my Wicca one class is just kicking in) many villages were comprised of extended families instead of many different non related families. For example, I have a lot of help with my daughter in my family. They don't help me to raise her persay. but if I need help trying to figure something out, or if I'm busy my family pitches in to help me. My mom's family is especially good at that. That isn't to say that some communities don't help out, if you've ever been in a military town you learn pretty fast that when you don't have family around having a lot of friends can make a big difference. You help them out when they need it and then they help you in return.

What does your religion mean to you?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
. Well I suppose they're against Satanists because they worship the Devil.
Actually that's a big misconception of Satanism that they worship Satan or the devil (the same with Pagans) since Santan is a purely Christian belief. Neither true Satanists nor WIccans/ Pagans worship the devil. From my understanding Satanism is a form of self worhsip and indulgence instead of restraint for which most Christian religions are known for. Ask anyone who truely follows Satanism or Levayism (called that because teh Church of Satan was formed by Anton LeVay) and you'l find out that there's really no devil worship. Whoa, ok, that was a bit redundant and I wish Lincoln was on so I could have him help me with this. But I know I got the whole thing about Satanism not being about Devil worship correct. -
Yes it's true that most women in the media (ie models, actresses, 'Reality Show' contestants) are astetically pleasing with good bodies, many of the men are too. But then you have the guys on shows like King of Queens with man boobs or that guy who walked around naked on Survivor who wasn't really that good looking or in shape. But they're either have supposed to been good looking to someone (Doug and Kerry on King of Queens) or just show that no matter how fat you are it's better to have good self esteem. On that note, has anyone ever looked through the personal ads in their local paper? If you haven't you really should do so some time. It'[s a real eye opener because it shows that what both men and women will find attractive and seek out in eachother is as diverse as everyone out there. Need proof, here's a sample from a few personals: Attractive White Male seeks an attractive female 45-60 for adventure and fun Sm seeks woman with pierced tongue This MBM is looking for the hairiest hairy white woman. If you are a white woman with lots and lots of hair all over your body, call me Seriously I'm not making this up. My point is taht although you may not find yourself beautiful someoen else does. And if someone else doesn't find you beautiful, just tell them where to stick it.

First of all I do think that the military has messed with Lincoln's head-not that he didn't have enough to mess with it before. Second, we're originally from New York State-Western NYS. People have guns up here, but they're mostly used for hunting deer and rabbit oh yeah and turkey. But mainly deer since the opening of deer season is pretty much a state holiday. That's not to say that some people up here probably don't have hand guns, but I've never understood the reasoning behind owning one. Even Lincoln's reasoning that a robber can sue you for tripping over a coffee table is a bit out there. Couldn't you just counter sue for the person breaking an entry? Or have a dog because if the robber shoots your dog you can sue them for shooting your dog. I grew up with a few guns in the house, but they were used for hunting. My dad keeps them locked up with trigger locks on them. The ammunition is kept separate from the guns and they're never stored loaded. I have no problem with someone owning a gun if they initiate responsible gun ownership in doing so. But I really don't see the necessity for having a handgun-even for personal security-unless you have it because you're a cop. But in that case I don't think it should be used unless absolutely necessary. The problem with gun laws in the States is that they're too lax and the current administration hasn't done anything to rectify that. I believe that gun manufacturers should be made to include gun locks on all new guns and the store that sell guns without the locks should offer them free of charge with new guns. There should also be more extensive background checks. IF a person wants a gun that badly I think that said person can wait long enough to see if there may be a violent history in their background. That's about it for me on my arguement. I'll have more later, I promise.

First of all I am fat (I'm over 165 if anyone must know and only 5'4 1/2) But quite frankly I don't care. There's more to me than a dress size-just ask anyone who knows me. I hate how one minute all these beauty magazines are telling you one minute how to be happy the way you are and clothes to fit any size then the next telling you about weight loss and shoving skinny (ie no breast) models in your face. Marie Claire once had a campaign going on and you could order a t-shirt from them to donate money to that campaign. The only size the t-shirt came in was extra small, small and medium. Now, the cause was good and everything, but there's no way in hell I'm paying money for a shirt I'll never fit into. I'm not going to lie and say that I don't wish I was skinnier. I do, I think that my weight is a bit unhealthy and I should do a few things to change it. But it's all about diet and excersize, not dieting and gastric bi-pass surgery. People there's a reason the first few letters in DIET spell die. Going drastic works in the short run but how likely are you to stay on a 1,000 calorie a day diet after you lose the weight? I'm not sure what else I want to add to this except: Ladies enjoy your hips, thighs boobs and butt. They're what make you a woman. Don't believe me? Try to find a picture of Venus of Wallendorf (sp?) That was a fertility statue ie something peopel worshipped.
Konnichiwa!, They cancelled inuyasha because they ran out of idea's for plot and characters and maybe differen't demons.
Or because the series had run it's course (I think over 200 episodes in Japan-feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) and there just wasn't any point of letting it go on any more and beat a dead horse. Personaly I think that over 100 episodes for an anime it gets tiring (ever watch all five seasons of SailorMOon?) I've only seen the first movie (maybe the second, but the fan sub was so bad I could have been watching Monty Python's Flying Circus). It wasn't too bad except the animation kept switching which leads me to believe that the company that had InuYasha in Japan used a few too many different animators.
And even though I could understand both Sesshomaru and Kikyo having cameos in the movie, I don't know what the point was of them interacting.
I also wonder if the movies were co-written or completely writen by Rumiko Takahashi or if they were just done without the author's in put like Toei and the R and SuperS Movies of Sailor Moon. If that's the case well, maybe I can better understand the animation getting so sloppy.

Anime Anime/Manga pairings least likely to succeed
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Otaku Central
(I know, part of the charm of the series was the innocent innuendo, but Jura was the least innocent-seeming of all and if I had been in Hibiki's shoes...).
Yes? :modrod: Ahem... Anyway another anime pairing that I just can't see working out (No matter how much I'd like it to) is Tasuki and Miaka from Fushigi Yugi This is so for a few good reasons. The first and most obvious is how Miaka is so head over heels in love with Tamahome-even though
she was willing to give him up because Yui loved him too. Miaka was even willing to let Tamahome kill her when he was possessed by that stuff Nakago had Yui give him.
Hell, their love was enough to not just cure things, but make viewers of the series sick and potentially give them cavities. Second is that Tasuke through the majority of the series is countinously mentioning how much he hates girls. And at times he's such an obnoxious pest (and a bit of a drunk) that I don't even think easy going Miaka could put up with him. And to continue with the FY theme I'd have to say Nakago and Soi as well. Nothing against Soi (except that she has this joy of killing thing going for her) I just don't think Nakago is very capable of loving anyone or anything since he's so damn manipulative. I do find Soi's love for him touching, but Nakago just uses her for pleasure and to get his energy back up. Come to think of it...I don't think I could picture Nakago with anyone save Masao from Mars since they're both so violent. So there you have it, two more couples I can't wait to see on Jerry (especially the Soi Nakago one) -
I'm not really sure where you're going with this...maybe you should write to Dr. Phil or Oprah since they're more qualified to deal with said situation than a bunch of people ranging in age from pre-teen to mid twenties who have a need for an anime fix and some other interactions. However I doubt that even tehy can translate what you're going for here. As for just wanting to 'you know' if you can't type it out and that's all you want 1.) you're not ready and 2.) you don't want a girlfriend all you want is a **** buddy. In other words, get out a bit more and learn to be more comprehensible. Oh and take a few more cold showers.

I'm hoping that this thread will be understandable. I'm curious as to what someone's religion means to them. Either what they beleive in general or how they were raised. Also what religion they are. I'm sorry that I'm rambling, I haven't made up a thread in a month and it's 2:13AM. As for myself, well, I was raised Catholic, but I haven't been practicing for about two years. I started getting interested in Wicca June 2003 but the people at the class I was in made me feel out of place and the whoel thing there was a bit political so I wasn't too impressed. But I'm taking a class again and I feel a bit more at ease. What my religion means to me...I haven't decided yet. In the past it brought me a bit of strength and comfort until this whole deal with this priest in the church my mom's parents went to. HE was doing something he felt was right (performing marriage rites on samesex couples) and all the other churches actually started praying that he;d come to his senses. Now with what I'm learning I feel a bit calmer than I did before. I also feel a bit more in control of myself. Does that make sense to anyone? Well, I tried. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go huddle in a corner somewhere

I think that's a rather interesting question to ask. Sometimes I think it's a question of faith and just believing in your own powers. For example if you do a healing spell for someone so they'll stop hurting you put your energy into the work you're doing and then you find that it worked. I'm not really sure how to explain the whole faith thing. I guess if you have faith in yourself that it really doesn't suprize you when something happens. Just don't get to cocky about your abilities or you won't get anything to happen

My hair natural color is this really boring brown. It's probably nice and everything, but 1.) I haven't seen it completely on my head sicen my sophomore year of high school and 2.) I like being a red head better. Other than that I have really nice hair that barely gets split ends and well, I just really like it natural color aside. However while i was pregnant I couldn't dye my hair because when you dye hair it ghoes on the roots and that could harm the baby. So instead I high lighted it. The first attempt was with my mom, and one of those home kits that comes with a plastic cap. My hair was just bellow my shoulder blades around this time and my mom is pretty bad with hair to begin with. Well, long story short. My mom giot frustrated half way through pulling hair through the cap and we had to cut the cap off. My hair was all tangled up in huge knots so I spent 45 minutes in the shower with a comb and half a bottle of conditioner trying to get most of the knots out then got my mom to help me with the rest. That following Monday I got my hair done professionally at Regis.
