TELL YOUR FRIENDS! I saw a store advertisement in Walden Books today saying that the first InuYasha Movie: Love That Transcends Time is due to come out this coming Tuesday the 7th of September in the US. I don't know if anyone is planning on buying it, but I think Amazon.com may have a better price than some of the other stores. I think that's what I'm going to bug my husband for since I'm the one giving birth I think I deserve this movie. Well that's all I have to add. Thank you

As far as I know Neon Genisis Evangelion had a few Biblical references in it especially in the end. I haven't seen the series yet, I'm only going by what I've heard, so don't quote me. I've heard of some Evangelitical church going parents who won't let their children watch Pokemon because it deals with evolution. ( ie the pokemon evolve into more powerful pokemon  ) Or SailorMoon because of magic. Go figure. I don't know if it's been made into an anime or not, but Rumiko Takahashi (creator of Ranma and InuYasha) has a manga called One Pound Gospel which looks pretty interesting. I guess that's somewhat Chritian based. However as far as I know there aren't many entirely Christian centered anime more like not at all. I think that may be in part to the fact that Japan's main religion is Shinto. The way I figure it is as long as there's no violence it's safe for my kids to watch...probably because I'm Wiccan and not Christian.
As of a few hours ago, DeathBug[/b'] and I are now brothers ^_^
Now I'm confused, does that mean we're related too? :wigout: Oh yeah, i'm now WiccanSamurai's mom. I'm married I say and type stupid things to my husband on a regular basis. Of course...he says and types equally assinine things back to me so the whole relationship stays on a nice even pace. I think one of the dumbest conversations we ever had was when we first started going out and Lincoln decided to cook dinner for me (which is probably one of the reasons I married him). He made Linguini with clam sauce from his own recipe and that turned out pretty good. However, he made a Jello No-Bake Cheesecake to go along with it...that was pretty bad. Did you know that men don't own measuring cups? Well, most of them don't. And not that the whole thing really matters, but you have to know that he doesn't buy butter in sticks he bought it in the tubs instead so he really couldn't measure correctly and the crust came out soggy. So later when I got home he called me and we had a conversation that went like this: Lincoln: Megan, you're supposed to measure the butter when you're making the crust for those things right? Me: Well, that's how most people do it. L: That explains why the crust was soggy. M: Well, duh. There was also a dumb converstaion about having to change a tire, but I don't think that one counts since he was talking in his sleep and I didn't know. So I yelled at him and was like " What the **** are you talking about?' and he told me to get back in the car if I wasn't going to be able to help. That's really all I can think of at this moment. We say dumb things about all his commanding officers and how we both think his stateside team cheif had a serious case of Bipolar disorder and such, but that's all I can remember right now.

Dragons, Skulls Thrill Iraq's Teen-Age Tattoo Fans By Matthew Green BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Need a skull, a dragon or a naked woman? Descend a flight of steps to a dingy corridor and step into Baghdad's only tattoo parlor. In a city better known for bombs than body art, a self-taught Iraqi tattoo artist is pioneering a new style of designs forbidden under ousted dictator Saddam Hussein (news - web sites). Working with a home-made needle and architect's ink, Sarmad Shamael says his Celtic crosses, screaming eagles and death's heads are catching on among a small circle of youths. "Now people have more freedom; people have a choice about what they do. There's no laws to restrict them," he said, speaking in his shop where pin-ups of bikini-clad models adorn the pastel pink walls. "A lot of people ask me, 'Why are you so strange? Why are you so Westernized?' I tell them: Because I like it," said Shamael, a soft-spoken 29-year-old who began painting as a child. For Iraqi teen-agers, the almost guilty pleasure of tattoos provide a moment's respite from life in Baghdad where car bombs can explode at any moment, militiamen run riot in the slums and the chances of finding a job are slim. Advertised by word of mouth, Shamael's parlor has had about 100 clients since it opened after Saddam's fall in April last year, with dragons proving the most popular of the designs he copies from a well-thumbed book imported from abroad. Himself a walking ad for his art, Shamael has drawn a lion and a dragon on his forearm, while a friend helped print the motto "I want kiss you" in English on his upper arm. He says there's no need to worry about health risks -- he always dips his needle in antiseptic. Costing anything from about $15 upwards, the quality of his tattoos has some way to go to match the intricate designs shown in pictures from foreign magazines pasted on his walls, but Shamael is building on a rich tradition. Iraq (news - web sites)'s tribes have long pricked their skin with designs to cure disease, work as love charms or ward off the evil eye, although city teen-agers who dare break what is still a taboo for many people are risking their parents' wrath. "BURN THEM OFF" Mohammed Jasim, 19, said he had no regrets about the scorpion and native Indian chief emblazoned on his upper arms a couple of months ago -- despite his father's reaction when he realized they would not wash off with soap and water. "He told me to burn them off and brought me some acid," he said, speaking in the shop where Shamael inscribed them. "I got into a fight with him, then my mother and brother got involved and said the damage had been done, and that if he poured acid it would just disfigure me." It's not just the risk of parental outrage that may make some Iraqis think twice about depicting a serpent on their calf or scribbling their lover's name on their forearm. Many Iraqis associate tattoos with prison, where convicts would give each other crude designs like heart shapes to while away the years. Others simply regard them as vulgar. Iraq's tiny community of heavy metal fans are big customers at Shamael's shop and some policemen are also keen. Three officers came in the other day to have the same winged skull design tattooed on their arms. In tribal areas, women are the guardians of arcane tattoo lore, sometimes using the breast milk of a mother nursing a baby girl to mix the pigment for medicinal patterns. Women, though, are a rarity in the parlor -- not because they don't want tattoos, Shamael says, but because they are too scared to venture out amid Baghdad's surge in crime. Speaking in his guitar studio a few doors down the corridor, Shamael's cousin Saad Sada, 35, believes his relative's work could one day win much wider acceptance. "I think tattoos are going to become more popular," he said. "Now it's turning into an art form." I just thought that this was a neat discussion peice that I found on yahoo. I guess I thought of this as a nice little look into the lives of normal people who are having something done and being able to do something despite the fact that everything is just going off the wall in their country. I also liked that peices of information about teh history of tattoos in Iraq. Not that there was much on teh history, but it was a bit of an insight into their culture. And yes, everyone can think I'm odd to find a tattoo studio as a sign of normalicy in a war torn country. Any other thoughts or opinions?

Anime Dating Anime Characters: Would You?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Otaku Central
Or would you consider dating? I've gotten a few responses to the thread about who couldn't you date from anime or manga, but who could you date? Me at this very moment (where I'm sitting in my mom's home office sweating because our central AC has been broken all year and we finally got a heat wave this summer): Well, I'm almost convinced at times that my husband is a 3-D human version of InuYasha, so yeah I guess I could see myself dating InuYasha. As long as he became a bit more mature. Oh and I'd have to get him off the whole Kagome or Kikyo thing as well, I'm not too keen on sharing a boyfriend with a near personalitiless character and a dead girl. It just doesn;t sit right with me. That's it for me for now. I'm beginning to stick to my computer chair...I hate vinyl! -

Oh, does anyone want to be my estranged husband? It'll be fun.! -

I'm not too sure what to say to the statistics around these days. I know I'm more likely to die driving to work than I am in a terrorist attack-despite what the Bush Administration would have me believe. However last week a friend of my husband's went on leave (not leave where you go to the states, but leave to Qatar for a few days) got drunk and was raped by an NCO (E5 luckily (?) so it won't take an act of congress to strip him of his rank and do a bunch of other military stuff to him. (FYI if he was an E7 or above it actually takes congress to take away the guy's rank-some stupid military rule) So I'm not sure on where I stand with that whole thing. The crime rate in Rochester has dropped a bit. But the City schools have to use some of their school year budget to pay city cops to patrol the halls. Drug use has slacked off, but last month there was a major drug bust in my (upper middle class) neighborhood . According to statistics, homicides have gone down, but there have been 3 murders in the same city neighborhood in one week. With all this going on you almost have to wonder if the reason statistics on things such as rape, homicide, and other crimes just has to do with population growth instead of things getting better. That's my slightly jaded very negative opinion for the time being. -
Interesting thing me and my cousin noticed: The Male diver for Canada, alexander something wasn't it? Anyway, before all of his good scores he patted his butt. Before his really bad dive, he never patted his butt, and before his silver winning dive, he patted his butt twice. :p Had to point this out.
I didn't notice him doing that...maybe I should have paid better attention hmm? My best theory on why he did that was some kind of ritual, but since he skipped doing that once he got a bad score on his dive. Nobody really knows but him though. Oh, here's a higlight from today's games...AMERICA WON GOLD IN WOMEN'S SOCCER! :D I have to mention that because one of the women-I beleive the one who scored the winning goal-is from my little section of Western New York State. :D. So now we have two olympic medalists from my little area of New York. One in Women's Hockey from Churchville and one in Women's Soccer from Webster (I think she's from Webster). The one from Churchville went to my friend's High School. Well, that's all from me today. I'm off to watch the diving.

Anime Wow... they're just like me!: Characters you identify with
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Balinese's topic in Otaku Central
My husband is almost a 3-Dimensional fully human replica of InuYasha. It's actually kind of scary. For one thing Lincoln has this unhealthy love of ramen. ANY ramen. The kind in the Asian foods section of the grocery store that you can get in kimchee flavor with Korean or Japanese writing on it. Maru chan even Top Ramen. If it's ramen, he'll eat it. He even mentioned to my mom that he was a bit angry at me for not sending him more ramen while he's in Iraq. Yes, it's like 110 degrees in the shade, but he wants to eat some ramen! I shudder to think of how much sodium he eats on a regular basis. Another way that he is like InuYasha: Lincoln has an older half brother who mentions how he's not suprized at any stupid thing that Lincoln may do. However, Shawn isn't out to kill Lincoln over a sword and even though there were a few rough spots, they still don't want to kill eachother right now. And unlike InuYasha and Sesshomaru, they have the same mom, but different dads. Also, ever since watching the dub version of InuYasha with me last year, Lincoln's favorite expression is Feh. He says that most of the time in Yahoo messenger conversations, but sometimes he'll drop it while we're talking. Now all he has to do is change into an inu hanyou on every new moon, have some feelings for an undead girl and get pinned to a tree and I can honestly say that I married InuYasha. -
So we should use socialized health care to suppliment people like your mother-in-law? Not that I'm saying all people in such situations are lazy, but we're raising a generation that can realistically believe that the government will bail them out of everything. That's not good any way you look at it.
Actually they do have an insurance for those kind of people whether they're a bunch of lazy *** people like my mother-in-law (there's a long story on why I think she's a lazy so and so, but it'd be off topic ) or just really poor and on disability and social security welfare and other stuff because the government won't instill a living wage even though it's not possible to make ends meet at $5.75 an hour (usual given minimum wage in NYS) It's called medicaide. So basically speaking you can get health care if you're extremely poor, in a government job, wealthy or your employer offers it and you're eligible, but not if you work your proverbial butt off and still aren't eligible. Perhaps a bit off topic, but I think the reason that Health care in the united states is so damn expensive is because we've become a country of sue happy people so the doctors have to pay more for insurance so they charge more and then those charges are then passed on to the employers who then can't afford to get health insurance plans for all their employees. And DB, I'll change my signature, but only if you can accurately tell me what the discription of the partial birth abortion ban law really is :) (hint: it's not just killing a partially born infant)

Anime Any anime characters you pity, worship, or fear?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to Dreamer's topic in Otaku Central
Well, let's hope I can do this thread justice becasue we all know how short my posts are... Pity First and formost I pity SailorMoon/Tsukino Usagi from SailorMoon (all five seasons are full of reasons to pity her) Reason 1: In the very first episode she's scared out of her mind by a talking cat right when she wakes up Reason 2: She finds out later on in the series that ChibiUsa is her daughter Reason 3: She finds out later in the series that she has to not only marry Mamoru but copulate with the dude and the outcome is ChibiUSa Reason 4: She finds out that she is the sole possesor of the guginshu (silver crystal) which is very powerful and has all these bad guys after her Reason 5: She has to constantly save the world Reason 6: She had to relive 8th grade twice
SailorMoon along with the rest of the inner senshi and Tuxedo Kamen/Mamo dork all died and then were reborn at the end of the first season and during the first half of the second season they were trying to regain their memories and stuck reliving a whole year
Reason 7: Her grades are horrendous, I don't know how she'd survive the real life Japanese school system. I also pity Higurashi Kagome from InuYasha. Day in and day out that girl is compared to her former life person Kikyo. She has to wonder if InuYasha loved Kikyo more than her and if she's a replacement for Kikyo. Then there's the whole double life thing, she can't tell her friends that she hops through a well into the fuedal era to collect shards of teh shikkon no tama and her grandpa is always making up these strange diseases as excuses as to why she isn't in school. Then when she is in school she has to make up all these tests. Face it people, this girl is never going to pass the entrance exams to get into a good high school...then she'll never get into a good university. She may as well stay in the warring states with InuYasha tachi. Oh and Aya Mikage from Ayashi no Ceres. Who wouldn't pity her?
First her family tries to kill her then her cousin tries to rape her. Her brother is her celestial maiden's mortal enemy
...that girl just can't win. Yes, she has two really hot guys around, but she never gets to enjoy that. Worship First and foremost I worship (from a safe distance) Kagura. She's strong willed passionate and willing to risk her life for freedom. Yes, she's evil, but bad girls are so much more fun. Kagura can even forgo honorfics with Sesshomaru and not get in trouble (ie sudden case of death) for her actions. There are pleanty of reasons to love Kagura. I'm really getting to like Kae from Model. You really have to admire a girl who invades a vampire's privacy and tells another one off. She even tried to draw the guy when she first met him...in the nude. I seriously recommend that everyone read this manga. And I can't forget Adachi Momo from Peach Girl. She's tough she's strong and well, I don't know much else. I like that during the whole thing with Sae she kept trying to be positive about everything. She tried really hard not to let Sae get to her. You have to admire that in a person. Fear I don't outwardly fear any anime or manga character for any normal reasons, but I will mention some: Anyone from LA blue girl. Anyone who has seen this anime would know why. I mean who wouldn't be freaked out by some scary libido enduced demon who could control through well...if you know what the anime is about you know what I mean? ChibiUsa-The girl is some kind of evil encarnate. I only fear her because I kow evil when I see it in action. Well, there's some kind of incomplete list. Maybe I'll get bored and add some more some time -
It's especially a problem with learning disorders such as ADD and ADHD. Partially it's because of doctors who don't know what they're doing (i.e.: haven't been to a medical conference on the drugs), and diagnose the child incorrectly and over prescribe medication. There are tons of normal, healthy kids who are just a little rambunctious, and they're percieved as ADD! It's also partially because of parents who don't want to accept their child as they are, and so pressure the doctors for some "quick fix." A little studying never hurt the child. How many people do you know on pills like Rittalin or Aderol, who act loony anyways? (Or is that just me and my school?)
The rambunctiousness that you're refering to would probably be classified as ADHD and not ADD. Trust me, I've read enough books and lived through it myself long enough to know. I was diagnosed with ADD when I was six, but my pediatrician and quite a few psychologists gave me an insane amount of tests (ie: ink blot, the one with the pictures where they want to know what you think is going on in the picture, the one with the patterns, the one with the blocks ect ect ect ) from the time I was 4 until the middle of 1st grade. I was hardly hyper active. I'm not saying that there aren't cases where a child who is just a bit over active at times is misdiagnosed with either ADD or ADHD I'm just saying that there is such a thing. I think the best way to check if your kid has either problem is to give them something with caffiene in it since children (as well as adults) with either condition will have a reverse reaction to caffiene (ie: they'll fall asleep or calm down instead of becomming hyper.) Trust me before I got pregnant I drank 3 cans of regular coca cola to fall asleep every night. The vitamine thing is really scary. My grandma thinks that since they're natural they're automiatically better than the medications that her regular doctor (not her quack herbologist) prescribed so she actually won't take full doses or she'll just skip the medicines that have been proven to help treat things like the stroke she had last week or the swelling in her feet. Hell, she had her herbologist and herself diagnose that she had a UTI last year and instead of going to her doctor to get it checked out she listened to her herbologist her told her to take huge doses of vitamin C until it gave her diarreah. I'm serious. Of course, this is the same woman who when one of her children had spinal menigitous she only gave the child 1/2 doses of the medicine and 1/8 doses to the other children rather than the full doses that the pediatrician recommended. (she's also the reason my dad is sterile...but that's another story) So what should I expect? Herbs and vitamins in small doses are fine, but most of the stuff hasn't been FDA approved so they shouldn't be considered the cure alls that some people take them to be. Some (like Fever few which is usually brewed in tea to reduce fever) can't be taken by pregnant women at all. And others (like Eccincacea) can interact with other medications prescribed by your doctor so you should ask before you use them. Many of the herbal teas that they sell in health food stores and in the natural food section of grocery stores also have warnings on them about how the results have not been proven by the FDA and if you're pregnant to consult a physician (not my granma's herbologist either) who knows about herbs before taking them. In short- natural doesn't mean safe (which is why when putting down Mandrake Root in my book of shadows I added DO NOT EAT in large letters). Before you decide your kid has either ADD or ADHD give them some coffee and see what happens. And drink more orange juice.
I feel sorry for the Australia's women's rowing team, one girl stopped rowing near the finish line and her team mates threatened to throw her out of the boat.
I don't blame them...if one of my teammates had stopped rowing near the finish line in the Olympics I would throw her off the boat. Forget just the threats. But the men's gymnastics was sure a thing of controversy tonight I think Canada and Mylasia's judges should get their heads checked because Alexi (the last name escapes me) from Russia's routine deserved much higher than what he was given. 9.672 my foot. So he took a step on the landing, the guy did five releases which were all very amaizing I think he deserved much higher than what he was given. I realy do admire the guy though, he even went up and tried to calm down the crowd so Paul Hamm could do his routine. I felt really bad for Paul Hamm when he had to go on after Alexi because not only had the crowd delayed his routine, but because the judges then gave him a 9.8 for a routine that was nowhere near as stunning as the Russian guy's. I think he must have been extremely relieved that the Italian gymast scored the same amount of points and passed him for gold because then he didn't have to explain why he won gold. That Korean gymnasts high bar routine was seriously lacking tonight and he's the guy that thinks he should have gotten gold instead of bronze in the mens all around. It was pretty bad, first he smacked his feet on the bar during the beginning of his routine, then he almost fell during the dismount. I wonder if he's still pulling for his protest. I'm still anxiously awaiting the rest of the equestrian events, but it's pretty hard to catch them when they only come on Bravo at about 5AM.
Nice try, Godel, but emotionally-charged statements don't stand up to reality. [/size']
Ooh boy DB, do I have a rebuttle for you. I'm afraid Godel's right (very afraid) You see it's much easier for the wealthy to get health care than the middle and lower classes. Hell my husband was a low income child way before Govenor Pataki finally attempted to make Child Health Plus avaiable to low income families in NYS. His mom was a lazy person who didn't work just soaked up welfare (I'm not saying that everyone one welfare is lazy, I just know for a fact that she is lazy) and got medicaide. However she didn't care enough about her son to try and get him anything. So Lincoln was pretty much SOL if he got some serious illness. Also health care is so expensive in the states that many companies only offer it to full time workers. And even then some full time workers don't even qualify for heath care benefits. My brother works full time at the Rochester Air Port, yet is denied because he's not a surpervisor. So Godel's right you get health care if you have the money and people with more money are more likely to not only be able to afford better health care, but better treatment as well.
When I was a child, I got an ear infection, and was taken to the hospital for it several times. The inherant limitation of resources in the military hospitals interferred with my diagnostic. By the time I was finally referenced to a civilian clinic, the infection was so bad that operation was necessary. Because of a system of socialized medicine, I have a hole in the center of my ear drum that will most likely never heal. When I had a life threatening asthma attack while stationed in Germany, the doctor went so far as to move me to a German hospital, to ensure quality care. Don't presume to preach the benefits of socialized health care to someone who's also lived under it, Godel. Besides, do you really want the same people that run the DMV to prescibe your drugs?
DeathBug, you mention you're a military brat? I'm a military spouse so I can understand why you don't care much for military health care. (especially since everyone in the military knows the joke about the Motrin) Don't just assume that since you had a bad experiance with socialized medicine that everyone has had a bad experiance. The military is probably the best and worst example to give. They cover quite a few things completely that other insurance companies won't touch like Birth Control (probably because they don't want to give anyone leave for giving birth or being there for the birth of their child). I don't think that the military health care system should be used as a sole base of information on why socialized medicine is a bad idea. Besides military doctors can be accomidating for the civilian spouses and their children...not to mention the fact that the health care is still valid 3 months after ETS. My friend down in Texas had to take her older daughter to an eye care specialist because the girl's vision (dammit I can't think of the word Coronary?) never developed in her left eye so the iris was just floating. Yes, my friend had to drive down to Austin to have the surgery performed, but Tricare covered it even though her husband was in the process of out processing. Of course, there's also the whole thing with the doctor my husband had to deal with in basic who made him walk around on a fractured hip and told him all he needed was some gloryfied Dr. Scholls for his boots. But there are good and bad sides to everything. Oh, completely off topic, but I think you should change your signature to: If Bush is re-elected we're screwed...again.

Clowns:funny guys or pointless wastes of space?
ChibiHorsewoman replied to poo62.2's topic in General Discussion
The scariest clown I can think of isn't the one from some horror movie, but Homey da Clown from In Living Color (does anyone else remember that show?) That really turned me off to clowns because that guy was rude to children and beat up on people. Plus as mentioned prior many children are afraid of clowns...of course, there are also children (like my mom's younger sister) who are afraid of Santa Clause (who wouldn't be the guy breaks into your house through the chimney never mind that he leaves presents) or people dressed as cartoon characters (my brother at Canada's Wonderland he wouldn't go near BooBoo) So maybe that's just a good reason to get rid of peopel dressed in hot itchy costumes who aren't allowed to talk. Clowns are just some kind of freaky thing that goes around turning balloons into animals that can pose choking hazards in small children. They should all be confined to the Circus where they belong. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go find my rainbow colored wig and then jump out of bushes and scare small children -
That's an interesting concept Manic I've actually wondered the same thing some times. I've been off and on Ritalin (off currently) since I was six years old. ritalin as many of you probably know is classified as a controlled substance. Infact you can't go and get a refill at the pharmacy like some of the other drugs I've been on. Instead you have to call your doctor and your doctor has to call in the perscription. Ritalin can be used as a medication to help in ADD (Attention Deficite Dissorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficite Hyperactivity Dissorder) since it has caffeine which seems to have an opposite affect on children (and people in general) with those types of problems. In this case it would be called a downer. However when used improperly it's turned into an upper. Go figure. I also have to do the whole weight loss drug thing as well...especially since I tried taking some over the counter stuff while i was back in TExas. I don't know why I bothered. Those things don't even seem healthy. They warn you that if you take any perscriptions for depression you shouldn't take their product in the first place. I don't even think it worked. Maybe next time I'll just go with Lincoln to family day in the Army and do the two mile run with him then go straight to the gym...you know lose weight and collapse the old fashioned way.

I don't know how much this would qualify as a frustrating gaming moment, but playing bounce on my Cell phone is pretty damn annoying to me. My fingers don't seem agile enough to adjust to the keys and after I get about 1500 points my ball pops and I have to go back to start and never get any further...maybe I should download something else eh? Another frustation is when I play Sims with more than one character. After the third day or some my Sims become extremely lazy miss work and don't bother to clean up after themselves. Also the kids keep skipping school and don' t want to study so they end up in military school. I think I should just give up video games completely and stick with board games since I beat everyone in those.
Sony MiniDisc players are not [/B']MP3 players.
It's not a mini disc player, but an actual MP3 player and I got the brand wrong, it's an RCA (here's the link: http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&u=c&catoid=-8721&qp=0&oid=56256&m=0) with expandable memory. Hey sometimes my brain stops working and I have a Jessica Simpson moment. But I asked Lincoln which one he had so that's how I figured it out. We were going to get him an i River, but my mom didn't like that brand because you could only buy the memory for it from i-River making the softwear more expensive. The RCA was a good buy because even though it had a small memory to begin with you could buy the memory chips for it . Yeah I think what I said made sense, now I can continue. Before my old car died and someone stole the stereo from it I had a stereo with the ability to read MP3 discs, which is about the same thing. I think. It was a Jenson and Sometimes it would act up and not eject the CDs on the first or even up to the sixth try and then after my husband poured cappicino into it while driving back to Rochester the whole thing was pretty shot. So maybe the stupid people who broke into my car got what they deserved  Okay, now I'm off to edit my other post.

Library Scolds Senators for Overdue Books Fri Aug 20, 8:43 AM ET Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo! ROME (Reuters) - Italy's Senate library is getting tough on forgetful lawmakers demanding they return books on Adolf Hitler and other subjects that are up to 25 years overdue. In letters and calls to the absent-minded bibliophiles, including a former senate president, the library recently issued a gentle plea for the safe return of books on everything from French philosophy to Italian law. "With a letter or a phone call, we say: Attention. A certain period has passed, so please return them in a good will gesture to the library," a library official said, explaining the campaign to reclaim the literature. Leading Italian daily Corriere della Sera added to the effort, weighing in with a front page story on Thursday, and inside the first section listing some of the overdue books -- and the corresponding unscrupulous lawmakers. One of the titles, Corriere said, included a book on Adolf Hitler's life checked out in 1995. The oldest title was checked out in 1977. But senators, it seems, pay no late fees. I'm really not too sure on what to say about this except that my local library doesn't wait 25 years until they decide to track you down for over due material. Maybe they're a bit more leniant in Italy, I don't know. I sure wish the library would wave my fines like they seem to be doing for these senators. So, does anyone else have any input on this?
