1.
Originally posted by Kaisuke I really couldnt be bothered reading everyones replies and what not, but me and hittokiri have been griping about this for some time. Now I think about it, I dont think its the fact that people just arent posting, although that is a large factor, its that all the n00 --new people to this forum >>; are making threads for every piece of art they do, instead of sticking to one topic. Resulting in threads being pushed to the back. Obviously this isnt a problem if you're just making the odd topic every now and again but still. People think that they shouldnt post, in fact, not posting is probably the most offensive thing you can do with art. I mean, if people posted to my art saying bad things about it, fine, at least they took the time, but when you check for replies and see 50 page views and no replies its just down right rude. :/ Bah, we might just sound bitchy but I really think the better artists on this board arent getting the feedback they deserve.
Er, I think this is a contradiction. If it's offensive to see 50 page views w/no replies, isn't it even more offensive to see a thread with replies, and not even read the replies that are already there before stating your opinion, especially in a thread such as this in which a debate has been formed? As for not posting replies about art, there have been quite a few valid points made on this thread already that counter your perspective on the lack of feedback. As for people not leaving feedback on art being offensive and rude, I feel it's just as offensive and rude (or quite possibly even more so) to skip over everyone else's replies and opinions about the subject just because you 'couldn't be bothered' to read them all. Anyone could use that same argument and say that they didn't want to comment on anyone's art because they 'couldn't be bothered' with typing out a long drawn-out critique even though they just like looking at others' work. By saying 'People think they shouldn't post,' is rude in and of itself. You've made a generalization of every single person here on this board and labeled us under one category of 'people.' We are all not the same; we all differ in opinion and interest, and to use a broad generalization such as this, including the one in which you say 'all the n00>>new people,' is as rude as you can possibly get. There are quite a few exceptions in both the generalizations you've made of 'people' and 'n00>>new people' on this board. It is quite presumptuous and self-righteous of you to label me (the n00b that I am) in such a way. ~haruno_sakura
 2.
Originally posted by Mitch This film was amazing. Anyone that doesn't see it just "because" Tom Cruise is in it should be shot. The guy is a good actor, no matter what anyone says. You can't deny that fact, at least.
Haha, I heartily agree. A lot of people I've talked to about this movie haven't watched it because of Tom Cruise, but he honestly was superb in this film! This film deserves a lot more attention than it's getting, but I think because it was released right before LOTR, the possible hype that could have drawn a ton of people to this movie was completely ignored under LOTR's shadow. There was already so much anticipation for that film that no one paid much attention to any other movie, which is a shame because the Last Samurai deserves a lot more attention. ~haruno_sakura
 3.
Originally posted by Charles I think you LOTR fans are in for a serious dose of disappointment. From what I've been reading, Finding Nemo has a legitimate shot at winning Best Picture. The only other animated feature to do such a thing was Beauty and the Beast. So it's in good company, that's for sure.
Do you mean the only other animated feature to be nominated for Best Picture was Beauty and the Beast? Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture ever, but it didn't win. It lost to the Silence of the Lambs, I believe. I am a little worried that LOTR isn't going to win Best Picture, mainly because as someone pointed out before, the Oscars just isn't kind to fantasy films when it comes to the Best Picture category. As much as I hope for Return of the King to win, I'm not sure if it actually will. From an article I've read in Rolling Stone, it seems they believe Mystic River will take the top prize on Oscar night. I've never seen the movie so I wouldn't know how great it is, but I'm going to be rooting for Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King all the way! ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 4.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka And gah, what's wrong with Orlando Bloom? I thought his performace was just fine and almost just as funny as Depp's. His character was very silly in his own right. ^_^
It wasn't Orlando Bloom himself, but the character of Will Turner. He was quite whiny most of the time, and sure I guess you could blame it on love, but he was being much too sappy for me. I'm honestly sick of the I-am-a-hero-inspired-only-by-love type which was how he came across to me. Orlando Bloom's acting was fine, but they just didn't give him such a complex character to work with, and if he was supposed to be complex, I just didn't see it. We only really got to see one side of Will Turner (his 'infatuated-with-my-bonnie-lass-while-I-kick-pirate-butt' side), and it didn't appeal to me at all. IMHO, I think they casted him to be eyecandy for the majority of teenage girls, and especially with the tremendous growth of his fanbase after LOTR, he would draw in a large amount of money which is what companies essentially care for. I have absolutely nothing against Orlando Bloom; he just didn't leave much of an impression on me (in concerns with acting) except that he is a gorgeoous man LOL. As for girls lusting after Johnny Depp after this movie came out, you can't honestly blame them for 'falling' for him since he was absolutely superb as Cap'n Jack Sparrow. It comes with his job description I guess o.0 Of course, it is a little irritating that some didn't even know his greatness before this movie's release, but maybe it's because some are too young to really know, which isn't their fault. A lot of people on this board were just born or weren't even born yet when 21 Jump Street came out, and it wasn't even showing anymore when they were finally able to comprehend the meaning of a television. It would urk me a little bit more if someone my age never even heard of Johnny Depp before PotC. How can one not have seen at least Edward Scissorhands, What's Eating Gilbert's Grape or CRYBABY (one of my absolute faves), *spurts off the rest of his 23487923 films* LOL? ^_^ His other films, like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or Dead Man probably wouldn't have been widely known because they weren't as heavily marketed towards a mainstream audience like PotC was. These are just a few reasons as to why people are just now taking notice of him, and it can be annoying, but that's just how it works. You can't really blame post-PotC, instant Johnny Depp fangirls, because they were the targets of excellent advertising from one of the best specialists in the field: Disney. It is a little disturbing though to see a twelve-year-old at a movie theater lusting after a 40-year-old man. o.0 Er...*gets off soapbox* And yes, Rush does get overlooked on these threads, but I think it's mainly because he was simply overshadowed by Depp's performance. Rush is an excellent actor, and was convincing as Barbossa. I was torn between feeling sympathy for him and hating him, which is exactly what I love in a character! That complexity is what most of the main characters had in this film, except for Will Turner. ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 5. Hittokiri Zero made a good point about wanting feedback when the work is for someone else like a web layout, but then if that's the case, then maybe you should explain that in the thread heading that it's urgent and explain why feedback would be helpful in the body of the post. I'd feel more inclined to leave feedback if it really was needed for a project. And if anything, you can always ask the person you're making the layout for if they like it or not, and ask why or why not. But the bottom line is, as much as one would like feedback, there's no way you can force anyone to give it to you. Yes, some may feel unappreciated, but what really matters is that you did your best and you like what you put out, right? ....am I being too optimistic? LOL ~haruno_sakura
 6. Personally, I don't really care if I get replies or not. I do put some art out there, and if I get replies, great! If I don't, then I don't, and I move on to my next project. It may seem like a nonchalant way of going about things, but most of the art I do is for myself, as selfish as that may seem. As long as I'm happy with the product, it doesn't matter if people like it or not; it's not going to change how I feel about what I've done. I do appreciate when people can tell me how to aesthetically improve my techniques, but the value of my art isn't going to change for me just because I get less replies. I see your point that it may be discouraging to not get as many replies on work you may have worked hard on, but so long as you're satisfied with what you've done, it shouldn't matter much that others don't have much to say. I guess my view is that art isn't for recognition (o.0 as idealistic as that may sound...). I used to feel otherwise, but once I realized that I started doing art just to get feedback, I wasn't totally staying true to my belief of art as self-expression, and that changed my attitude. I wasn't happy because I thought my art sucked, but when I found that I depended too much on what others thought, I began to really not care about who was viewing my work so long as I liked what I did. Then I was much more satisfied with my work that the number of replies didn't equate the value of what I felt my project was worth to me. So I guess what I'm saying is, people will reply when they have something to say, and if they don't, then there's really nothing you can do to make them. Sure, it's always great to know what others think and it's always helpful to get advice on aesthetics so that you can improve, but as long as you're happy with what you've done, the amount of replies shouldn't matter. That's just my view of this entire thing, and disagree with me if you wish ^_^
 7. As Sasuke-kun has said, the stock image of Naruto isn't all that great which takes away from the overall potential of the wallpaper. He's slightly blurry and there are a few places on his jacket and and pants that seem slightly pixelated, but that's something you can fix with a little tweaking on photoshop ^_^ I would agree that blue is more associated with Sasuke than the green, so you may want to overlay a shade of blue on him to see if it would look better but that's just personal preference ^_^ Anyway great job on this banner! ^_^ Jolly good. ~haruno_sakura
 8. Ah I love it ^_^ It's simple and clean, and the background matches very well with the red of Sasuke's sharingan. The color scheme flows well with the image, and it's awesome for a wallpaper as it doesn't have too much going on. Jolly good. Is that image of Sasuke fanart? I've never seen it before o.0 ~haruno_sakura
 9. This film was awesome. Not only was the cinematography beautiful but the on-shoot locations and costumes totally took my breath away. The fight choregraphy was captivating and the ending fight... it was Rurouni Kenshin right there haha. And yes, Tom Cruise actually did a good job as a humbled soldier, which I hadn't been totally expecting. However, I found that Ken Watanabe was the star of the entire film, with his portrayal of the samurai leader Katsumoto. He brought the film to life and gave it so much emotion. I was also instantly captivated with his son, Nobutada, played by Shin Koyamada. Interestingly enough, this was his first venture into a feature film, which I could not tell at all because he had such a natural presence on screen. I was totally impressed with his performance...and with his archery, he reminded me a bit of an asian Legolas >.< (did anyone else feel that way, or was I just seeing things lol). Anyway, haha I've got a new crush because of him LOL. ~haruno_sakura
 10.
Originally posted by SasukeUchiha Only If I can call you Sakura-chan ^^ Neway I think your theory is probably right, I actually did think about that, and it may actually be explained in the later manga and anime sadly I am not there yet :( But I think its definitly a possibility.
^_^ Hai, Sasuke-kun! You can call me Sakura-chan puwahaha Anyways, I hope they do reveal who his parents are, just because it would be so interesting how everyone would react to Naruto if they found out that they've been shunning a son of a former
Hokage
. As for more questions that I was talking about with my friend, this next question I pose is about Uchiha Itachi.
I think it's said that he killed his entire family just to measure how powerful he was, and there were no survivors left except for Sasuke. The question is, why do you guys believe he wanted to kill his entire clan to prove his worth? He was worthy enough as a shinobi as he was already an ANBU squad leader by 13 o.0 and if he really wanted to show how strong he was, why didn't he just kill off Sasuke along with the rest of his family? Why would he leave a survivor he knew would grow up with thoughts of revenge, seeking power just to destry him? Could it be insanity or something more than that? What do you guys feel? ^_^
~haruno_sakura
 11. Thanks Preston (can I call you Sasuke-kun?! LOL)! ^^;; Didn't realize my mistake. Anyway, for a change of pace, there was something that I was getting into a heated discussion about with one of my friends who also happens to be Naruto-obsessed, and we were wondering about Naruto's parents. There are a few references in the anime and in the manga, but nothing particularly specific (and if there is, please correct me)...though my theory is that Naruto's father could be
Yondaime...as in the 4th Hokage. The 3rd once said in episode 1 (or one of the first couple of episodes) that the 4th wanted Naruto to be seen as a hero for being essential in containing Kyubi and in essence saving the village, and who else would the 4th give that honor to besides his own son? There's not much about Naruto's birth except for the fact that the 9-tails was sealed right when he was born. We know nothing of Naruto's mother, though, she could have died during childbirth or while fighting Kyubi, in which case the 4th would have had to seal Kyubi in Naruto in order for Naruto to survive. Those who would have witnessed the event might have thought that the baby might have died with the mother and therefore the theories of Naruto being Kyubi itself might have arisen from that. Er, and besides, don't you guys think that Naruto looks like a younger version of Yondaime? ^^;;
So what are your theories? ^_^;; ~haruno_sakura
 12. I agree with Baron Samedi. Your artwork is beautiful and impressive, but the quote and title are both cut off with the banner ^_^ The background is just right, and the slight blur of the images fits with the quote perfectly! ^_^ Side note: The quote fits the anime quite well!
The two figures are Daisuke (left) and Dark (right), and Dark is a phantom thief that Daisuke turns into on occassion, so the whole part of the hearts and thoughts fading works incredibly well since they're constantly switching places...especially when things concern their separate love lives.
Ahh, great anime, and a wonderful banner to go with it ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 13. Name: Fruits Who you're making fun of: Boromir of Gondor Species: manSlut Description: He's tall and handsome, with shoulder-length brown hair and a dashing smile, but he's incredibly flamboyant. He has an obsession with small hobbit like creatures, especially those with shiny jewelry. Bio: Hailing from the city of Glomps, Fruits is also the older brother of Flames and the son of Dummy, a pyromaniac. Fruits was sent to find a weapon that would help effectively stalk into a girls locker room without being seen. o.0 Fruits also loves big round....shields. ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 14.
Originally posted by wiccansamurai *Brings dead thread back to life* Well, I was going to do a search on Sailor Moon, to check if I should start a thread on it. Found this, so, here's my question. Any of you got the box sets that just came out yet. I'm watching the second season right now and I can't stop grinning! I especially love the part where the scouts are fighting over who should play Snow White in the play, and Mako says she should because she has the biggest chest. Unedited gold. ^.^
AH! The unedited boxsets!! I wanted to get those but the problem is, I have absolutely no money, though I have heard tons of good things on about these sets of unedited episodes...However, I heard that one of the episodes is missing, but I'm not sure which one? Is the investment still worth it? A little OT, but have any of you happened to see the live-action Sailor Moon series o.0? ~haruno_sakura
 15.
Originally posted by Shaun I don't want to hear none of y'all complain unless you're my age (22) and never been kissed! :p I mean seriously...am I that unattractive? You guys have seen my picture in the picture forum...
I've seen your pictures and you're FAR from being unattractive o.0 I hope you don't mind my being forward, but you're downright adorable o.0 *ahem* But seeing as you had A TON of replies about that, I'm not going to flatter you more. Anyway, seriously, being 15, 12, 13, blah whatever age you are and not having your first kiss yet seriously isn't a bad thing at all!!! I agree with Shaun that not having been kissed is NOT complain-worthy. Enjoy your youth and don't worry over such trivial things ^_^ It'll happen when it happens ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 16. I have to agree that this movie was awesome, but I have to disagree and say that it's not the best movie ever made. It is certainly entertaining, especially with Johnny Depp's characterization of Captain Jack Sparrow! He was flamboyant and sly and completely captivating, and I have to say that although Orlando Bloom looked quite handsome in the film, he stood no chance standing next to Johnny Depp whenever they were both on screen together. In fact, Will Turner annoyed the bejeezus out of me with his sappy, "oh-save-my-bonnie-lass-i'd-die-if-she's-gone" attitude. Blegh. Spare me, please. Savvy? (sorry, I had to put that in haha) *waits for orli fangirls to shoot arrows through head* The only thing I'm looking foward to with the sequeal to this movie is seeing Johnny Depp again in all his Cap'n Jack Sparrow glory. ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 17. LOL, this banner is hilarious! I can't believe I sat through the entire thing, but it just keeps your attention until the end which can be a hard thing to do, but your banner pulls it off flawlessly ^_^ Oh, and yes, people should check out LOTR 411 a lot more puwahaha. LOTR r0x! ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 18. I find that if the death scene is done well enough, then I probably would find myself sobbing. However, if it's someone that I just cannot stand, I probably wouldn't feel much remorse if that person were to be suddenly gone. If anything, I'd feel more for my favorite character and how he or she would feel without their dreadfully annoying friend not there anymore. A little OT, but the title of the thread was slightly misleading because as someone said earlier, it's the name of a movie, and a VERY controversial one at that >.< ~haruno_sakura
 19.
Originally posted by SasukeUchiha Did you ever think about it this way. The manga can only be so long, if a manga got into the detail that the anime does we would have 400 page novels. Thats at least how i view it. I do not think it takes away from the manga or the creators idea, I think its a tool to be able to expand on it. For example in the manga all the characters are not really completely introduced to us and are just there, think about what the reason for that might be.... most likey its because of space. I can understand why you may not like the anime if you are not interested in the detail, but I enjoy getting the full story of the characters, it draws me further into manga and makes me more interested over all.
I totally agree with Sasuke on this, as well as with what AzureWolf said earlier, especially with the introduction of characters. I think by introducing a lot of them earlier in the anime, it's a lot more easier to reference them again when they reappear in the Chuunin exam.
Once again, I point to Ino and Sakura's rivalry. It's a lot more effective when we see how it escalates from their crushes on Sasuke from Episode Three all the way to their fight against one another when it becomes a battle of who is the better kunoichi.
Flashbacks and a bit reformatting in the anime can strengthen characters and relationships that hadn't been fully developed. IMHO, all the extra explanations and details added to the anime strengthens what was first written in the manga ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 20. *blinks* Okay, I see it now. The border is almost nonexistent though because the image is also dark that it's really hard to distinguish. It doesn't look like it's there at all unless you really, really study it. If that's the effect you're going for, then it's fine the way it is, but if you'd like the border to stand out a bit more, a dark red, or a charcoal grey might work as well. ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 21. LOL, that's pretty funny. Er, I just don't know what that thing on its face is? Is it supposed to be a tear or a sweatdrop? or even toilet water? LOL I'm not quite sure, but if it's a tear, you may want to make it smaller so that it doesn't almost cover his eye, and if it's a sweatdrop, usually those would be placed to the side, and if it's just toilet water, I have no idea what to say about it LOL. Anyway great job! It gave me a good chuckle ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 22. It's a great banner. The image of the girls is a little blurry though. I love the font, but the color of it makes it harder to read when it's placed over the equally dark triangle. You may want to lighten up the original text color a tiny bit to create enough contrast for it to be slightly more legible. And I agree Shizoku; a nice border (a dark red, maybe?) would wrap it altogether nicely. ~haruno_sakura
 23. o.0 I LOVE it! The color scheme is wonderful; the softness of the pinks totally complements the actual image, and your explanation for the white makes a lot of sense. It's absolutely gorgeous; I'm in love with its simple elegance ^_^ My only gripe is that your name in the bottom right-hand corner is a little too bold. Maybe chose a less harsh color (maybe the same rich purple of her eyes, perhaps?) to complement the softness of the rest of the wallpaper, Other than that, it's just wonderful ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
 24. I love the simplicity of it all. There aren't any fancy designs or anything that detract attention from the lovely image. Though the image is a tiny bit blurry, it works well with the whole effect of the soft, faded edges. Absolutely darling. 9.0/10 ~haruno_sakura
 25. I've also been watching Peace Maker Kurogane (I prefer the Lunar fansubs XD), and I absolutely love it as well! It did remind me a bit of Rurouni Kenshin, though with a lot more blood and swordfighting right away, as well as more humor. I absolutely love PMK's Okita! He's so 'unmanly' as they like to say in the series, though I love the contradiction between his gentle side and his manslayer side. It totally gives him such dimension ^_^ His eyes are pretty freaky when he's in killing mode o.0 And Dagger, I totally agree about Testu-kun! He does remind me of Naruto as well, especially with his never-giving-up attitude. He does get slightly annoying but I think that's part of his charm ^_^ ~haruno_sakura
