They took this part out in the movie because I guess it was too long, and if I remember correctly, they say in the Extended version that as short as the Council of Elrond had been in the movie, it took an incredibly long time to shoot? Puwhahahah I absolutely love it ^_^ It looks almost exactly like a window, and my only complaint is that the close button on the top right looks as little too big, and you may want to add a drop shadow to it to really make it resemble a microsoft window. Great job! ~haruno_sakura

CB [/B][/QUOTE] I understand that you may want to use different angles, but my point is that it's definitely alright to keep some of the same angles in a few of the frames in order to keep the continuity of movement more clear. Too many different angles can cause confusion for a viewer or a reader if he or she cannot distinguish a character's location. Using the same angles more than once is definitely not a bad thing in this respect. In the first page, at the first bottom frame, we see Sky facing toward the right, and in the next frame over, she is facing left, leaving me unsure of where exactly she is going to run. And that confusion stays with me until the 3rd page, where it's made a little bit more clearly, but not by much. In the 3rd page, the first two frames show them running toward the left, but then the middle frame makes it look as though they're running to the right, and they stay running toward the right until the end of the page. The fouth page + fifth page are just fine as it keeps in continuity with last few frames of the 3rd page, but the last frame of the 6th page is a little disorienting, as the cat jumps on Sky from the right side in the last frame of the 5th page and in the last frame of the 6th page, the cat is suddenly on the left side. I'm trying to read your description and look at the images, but I still find myself wondering what's moving where that I tried reading it both ways, from left to right as is the standard in America, and then right to left as manga are usually created. I still found myself with no sense of direction, and it's mostly because the 180 degree rule is being broken a few times that I feel disoriented. I'm getting a shot of the left side of Sky's face, and then I suddenly see the right side of her face in the next frame(as is such in the 6th page), and if one were to do that in film, it would look as if she is staring at herself. Does that make any type of sense? Just having a character face a certain way in a frame is essential in keeping continuity and keeping things less confusing. This is excellent work, and I applaud your artistic endeavors as the drawings are simply amazing, but continuity of movement is an incredibly important part of a story's structure, and if that isn't precisely clear, it could lessen its potential. I don't know if I'm making sense, or if I'm just merely succeeding in confusing you in my explanations of what I experience when looking at this, but if you need any clarifications of what I mean, please feel free to PM me. The artwork is gorgeous, and there's not much improvement that I can suggest on it. However, because manga is a lot like storyboards we use in filmmaking, I can give some suggestions about angles. I somehow lose a sense of continuity as I have no clear direction of which way the characters are moving. The two characters and Sky first seem to move towards the right on the 1st page. In the 2nd page, the enemies are aiming towards the left, so it looks as if Sky and Co. are running right towards enemy lines, which doesn't make sense. In the 3rd page, we see that Sky and Co. are actually going left, but the images in the middle and the bottom then look as if they're going toward the right again. In filmmaking, this is called breaking the 180 degree rule, which can be disorienting for the audience, and in this case, for your readers. Then again, some filmmakers chose to purposefully break this rule for that very effect, and you can decide that this best fits the description of what war is like: a disorientating experience. IMHO, if the Sky and her two friends are running towards the left, they should face towards the left throughout just for continuity's sake. I don't know if that made any sense at all, but if I can find any diagrams of what I'm trying to explain, then I'll edit this post! ~haruno_sakura

First, I'd like to compliment you on the marvelous job you've done on this. The shading that you've done adds so much depth, and I especially love the sense of texture in the cape (cloak? wings, perhaps? er...whatever it is that's covering him LOL). The blades of grass draw attention to and emphasize the figure in the middle, which is excellent. Every element in this picture, from the figure to the sword to each blade of grass has a sense of depth, but the only thing that doesn't is the sky. You may want to add slightly transparent clouds to complete the sense of depth that you have going throughout the entire image. Or even rain? I hope that helps ^_^ ~haruno_sakura

I like the style of the banner as it's different from most that I've seen, though my only complaint would be the text. You may want to keep the blue color consistant throughout the banner, including with the text, but to make it more legible, I would suggest use a drop shadow and a dark stroke (or a light stroke if that looks better). Well, my embarrassing moment happened when I wasn't playing a sport, but actually meeting one of my favorite sports stars ever! I'm a HUGE MLB fan, and my favorite team is the Oakland Athletics, and on Picture Day, I finally got to meet Gold Glover Eric Chavez to take a picture with him. Well, I was barely able to breathe during the pic (he actually touched my shoulder! *dies*), and afterwards, I let out this fangirly shriek as he walked away, and my clumsy self tripped on someone's foot and I fell, knocking down a couple of other female fans with me, and someone commented to Chavez, "Look at the effect you have on women!" >.< Here's a story in which I was actually participating in a sport. I was on the volleyball team in high school, and during one of our home games, my crush turned up right when I was serving. I was so nervous and kept glancing at him that I ended up sending a really hard serve in his direction and he barely had time to get out of the way as the ball sailed right by his head. >.< He thought I hated him LOL. Anyway, I wasn't able to concentrate the rest of the game, and my coach made me sit back down on the bench. D'oh, why I let boys distract me, I'll never know >.< ~haruno sakura

My question is, did you find the Hobbit itself [i]as a story[/i] boring, or did you find Tolkien's STYLE of writing boring? He does tend to write pages upon pages of descriptions, which I absolutely adore, though some may find quite tedius. In any case, I would highly recommend reading The Lord of the Rings, as there are actually a few differences between the movies and the books, and [spoiler]they even having different endings. ROTK (the movie) ended a little too peacefully, but the ending of ROTK (the book) is a lot more darker, and you finally get to see what happens to Saruman, who only gets a passing mention in the ROTK movie, which I found a little disappointing. Also the Shire ends up MUCH different[/spoiler]. I actually enjoy distinguishing a few of the differences between the tomes and the films. If you really want even more 'historical facts' about how evil actually began to settle in Middle Earth and how Elves and Dwarves and Men all came to be, I'd also suggest grabbing a copy of the Silmarillion. ~Haruno Sakura

What I really loved about the movies that didn't quite happen in the book was the added scenes between Aragorn and Arwen. I think it helped added a deeper dimension to Aragorn's character, to see what he was willing to let go in order to see his loved one sail on to Valinor to escape Sauron's possible rule over Middle Earth. It added to the mental conflict he had between choosing to take his proper role as King or to stay as an annonymous Ranger of the North. The special effects were amazing, and they greatly surpassed anything that I imaged whenever I read the Lord of the Rings. And for the record, I love book Legolas more than movie Legolas. I got a greater sense of his character when reading the books because there was more written about his interactions with Gimli while in the movies, there were only a few snippets, and it seemed PJ only used movie Legolas to dazzle the audience with his looks as well as his ability to pull off amazing stunts. I admit that I was smitten at first when FOTR came out as Orlando Bloom is an amazing looking fellow, but fangirls have ruined my movie-watching experience during The Two Towers, The Return of the King, as well as Pirates of the Carribbean, so, I do get annoyed whenever I see him, though it's not his fault. Hrm, I wonder if I'm the first twin to post in this thread? ^_^ Anyway, I'm 20, as is my brother, though in 13 days we'll be 21 (woo hoo!), and he and I used to fight constantly when we were in our preteens/early teenage years. It must've been hard for my parents to deal with the two of us always trying to rebel simultaneously. Thankfully we grew out of that stage quickly, though I hate it when my brother still treats me as if he's older than me (which he's not. I entered the world 42 minutes before he did puwahaha), but because I'm a girl, he always feels the need to look out for me. Hmph, as if I can't take care of myself on my own! ^_^ Anyway, we get along much better now because I really haven't lived in the same house for 3 years because I moved away to college, and he still stays home because he goes to school right near our parents' house. I think the distance helps tremendously because I know I would get annoyed with his antics if I had to be near him on a daily basis. He loves to blast his Hip Hop at ungodly hours in the morning, and it really doesn't help that he had just bought new speakers the other day to add to the bass o.0 He doesn't understand my fascination with anime; I don't understand his fascination with fixing up his car o.0 However, we've learned how to respect each other now that we're a lot older and now that we don't see each other often. We truly do have different personalities and interests, but I wouldn't have it any other way. ~Haruno Sakura

I saw an actual picture on the theonering.net of Christopher Lee impaled on a spike, but because that was a while ago, I don't know if they still have it up, but they should o.0 You may have to do a little searching though. I was really disappointed to not have seen Saruman and Gandalf battle it out with heated words lol. I was looking forward to it. Sigh[/spoiler]. As for those of you who did have bad experiences with audience reactions, >.< when I was at the midnight showing when it first came out, a whole frickin row of fan-girls sat right in front of me and my cousin, all dressed as Elves and Hobbits, trying to speak Elvish o.0 That wasn't what irritated me (since dressing up is kinda fun LOL); it was the fact that they would shriek every single time Orlando Bloom was on screen. AHH, okay when FOTR first came out, yeah I thought he was gorgeous, but I truly stopped because it's girls like those who ruin it for me. It was as if none of the other characters mattered except for Legolas, but did anyone else seem to notice that they hardly gave him any lines other than to state the obvious. Like when Aragorn was doing his little speech about going to the Black Gates, Legolas would say something useless like, "A diversion!" T_T Really, most of his lines didn't matter, and it annoyed me to no end that the girls thought he was the greatest thing to ever grace the screen. o.0 He'd lift a finger and they'd shriek as if they'd just witnessed the best part to the movie. They also ruined another part that almost gave me chills, but due to their squealing, I couldn't focus as much as I wanted. Right when Pippin started to sing, they were like, "OMG, Billy can sing! Ohh Billy I love you!" T_T I nearly missed out on it altogether if the people sitting next to me didn't shush them. Good thing I got to hear him a lot better the 2nd time I went to see the movie, and I have to say, his singing deeply moving and such a powerful element that added to the alternating scenes of Faramir charging into Osgiliath and Denethor sloppily eating his meal. I would have enjoyed the movie a lot more if only their shrieks didn't keep shaking me out of Middle Earth and back into the real world. I was trying to lose myself in the story, but AHHHH!!! *shakes fist at shrieky fangirls* Also the people sitting behind me were the exact opposites. I overheard one of them say, "Dooood, did you know this film was based on a book? Whoa, I never even knew there were books about Lord of the Rings until the 1st movie came out!" T_T AHH. I have to agree that the anime does drag on a lot more than it does in the manga. The one part that seemed to drag on forever was the Country of the Wave arc with Zabuza and Haku...T_T [spoiler]It took Sasuke and Naruto forever to fight against Zabuza when Kakashi was stuck in the water prison T_T LOL I still loved it all the same ^_^ And I actually liked the flashbacks when Ino and Sakura were fighting. I do like their rivalry, and it made me a little sad to see how close they were when they were younger. [/spoiler] There are a few fillers that I can do without though, like [spoiler]how in the episode before the final part of the Chuunin exam, Konohamaru got Naruto lost and running away from bulls before he reached the stadium to fight Neji T_T I mean, it's great to add some comedic elements to balance out the angst and drama, but meh.[/spoiler] ~Haruno Sakura

It's a pretty good wallpaper, but there are few things that maybe you may want to fix a little bit. The stock quality of the image of Daisuke isn't all that great. It's highly pixelated and takes away some of the picture's appeal. You may want to smooth it out a bit on Photoshop or whatever program you use. Also, the background is very creative and I love the colors that you use, but there's so much going on that it takes away focus from Daisuke. You may want to make it a little less distracting by taking out a few swirls or what have you because as a wallpaper, it may make icons harder to see on the desktop. Also, placing the name D.N. Angel right in the middle draws the focus towards the center and draws even more attention to the swirls in the background. Overall, you've got a great idea for a wallpaper, but these are just few things that take away some of its full potential. ~Haruno Sakura

Don't read the next lines or so if you don't want to know what happens. [spoiler]When he fights one of the five sound ninjas in order to retrieve Sasuke when Sasuke leaves Konohagakure to join the Hidden Village of Sound, Neji nearly dies to protect Kiba, Shikamaru, and Naruto as they chase after the other 2 sound ninjas and Sasuke. He also acknowledges that he had been lost in the darkness of his hatred for the main family before Naruto changed his life, and he acknowledges Naruto as the key to saving Sasuke because Naruto has the power to bring anyone back from the darkness in their hearts. Err, this part is WAY after the Chuunin exam, soooo it'll be a long while before the anime (or the manga volumes released in the US for that matter) catches up to this particular point. He puts his life on the line to protect his comrades, and to retrieve Sasuke, someone he doesn't even know all that well, which proves that he is no longer the same Neji from the Chuunin Exam[/spoiler]. I agree that Neji really was downright evil when he fought Hinata, but he really is much more respectable now. [/B][/QUOTE] Off-T: The "Theatre of the Oppressed" was founded by Augusto Boal, and it is a form of theatre that I absolutely adore. For those of you who don't know what that is, basically, the actors act out a scene of oppression, but without a solution, and they encourage the audience to participate in solving the problem that is presented. Lots of improvisation, but it really gets people thinking so the audience is never passive. Excellent. On-T: I just took a class on Classical Myth this past quarter, and one of our assignments was to read Euripides' "Herakles," which I enjoyed immensely! As for playwrights I love reading, I've taken several Developmental Theatre classes in which I've had to read loads of plays, and I find that I rather enjoy 'recent' plays, a lot more than Greek Tragedy. "Waiting for Godot" is absolutely wonderful, though not much really happens XD I didn't know what to expect the first time I encountered that play, which was why it appealed to me so much. And the word play that goes between the two main characters is fabulous! I don't care too much for Brecht, or rather, what I read of his works. I only read "Mother Courage," and it was only efficient in putting me to sleep. "Hedda Gabler" by Ibsen is enjoyable. She is one of the most interesting female characters I've ever read about. "Children's Hour" by Lillian Hellman reminds me a bit of "The Crucible," but it's still a great read. I also enjoyed reading "Uncle Vanya" by Chekov, though, not much happens. It basically tells the story of the everyday life of a family, but the writing is excellent. One of my absolute favorites, however, is "What the Butler Saw" by Joe Orton! It follows the elements of a 'well-made-play,' but he twists the situations around in a hilarious and unconventional way. It was such a joy to read! I can't think of any more plays on the spot, but those are a few of the ones that I enjoy!

Hrm. On New Years Eve, I'm either going to go out to SF with my friends, (though, I'm not up for driving in the city as 1) it'll probably be way too crowded, and 2) I hate one-way streets in SF) or I'll have myself a little Naruto marathon, and watch eps 1-64 all day...hrm. The Naruto marathon sounds much more appealing, puwahahahah! ^_^

The stock picture isn't as blury as before, which is better, but the stock image still doesn't blend as well with the background in regards to the color theme. The cool colors of the background still contrast a little too harshly with the warm firey colors of the stock image...you may want to try making Chrono a little less red + orange and and a little more...blue? Wow, for a first wallpaper, it's pretty good! The stock picture is just slightly blurry, but not enough to be a major problem. I think my favorite episode would have to be 62 because [spoiler]watching Naruto kick Neji's *** was the best thing ever to happen[/spoiler]. As for favorite manga chapters, I would have to say I absolutely love [spoiler] Volume 21 Chapter 181. When Sasuke leaves Sakura at night to join the Sound Ninja and Orochimaru, my heart just broke! But, you can actually see that he cares about her in this particular chapter. AHHHHH [/spoiler]. And I don't hate Neji as much as some of you. He redeems himself a bit in the latest manga chapters.
