Writing Books on Witchcraft, Goddesses. and Demonology
Winter replied to Eclectic's topic in Creative Works
Instead of restricting yourself to the name witchcraft, why not just look under Sumerian mythos, sorcery, and the various other ideas of magick out there? Hell, just PM me or something. I've got a thing or two to share about the arts. -
Writing Books on Witchcraft, Goddesses. and Demonology
Winter replied to Eclectic's topic in Creative Works
Problem with a lot of books is they confuse witchcraft with Wicca. Dont you make the same mistake. -
LP sonically are really really irritating. In fact, I for a long time hated them. At least until I saw them live last summer. Their music, lyrics, and all around goal as a band suck, no questions there, but their live performances are without a doubt, really really really fun to watch. Anyone hating them, go ahead, but dont let them pass your town without seeing them at least once. They are that fun.
P.S.: What is with you? I make one comment that you don't like, and suddenly you become a cocky ***, acting like you're the best in the world, and that you are like God. I'm sorry if you don't like what I have to say, but live with it. I made rude comments, you did too. Why can't you be mature about this? I used to think you were actually a nice person, and now I know better.
I didnt say I didnt like your thoughts. You assumed. I merely threw in my opinion in that protests are worthless wastes of time. You took it a bit too far, now didnt you? Petey: I have no "tone" to check. Read my initial reply in this thread. There were no indications of insults, even covert ones. My opinion was just taken personally. On another more personal note, I am a very pleasant and kind person. I'm just very opinionated and blunt. *shrugs* Thats a shame if it upsets you.

Never had anything like that other than chronic depression, but I had a thing to say about that disorder. Its really misrepresented. And misdiagnosed. I knew of an old friend throughout my years in catholic elementary school, in where growing up, he had anger problems and was really irritable. Immediately a few teachers recommended he be put on meds for ADHD. Turns out that he actually had a really infectious buildup in his ear, which led to hearing complications, which led to frustration, which led to simply acting out. They cleaned his ear, gave him meds for the buildup, and magically the "ADHD" disappeared. My point is, too many people resort to certain disorders without a proper investigation.

Hmm...*reads post* I dont recall exactly telling you what an opinion was, nor if I knew what it was or not. Oh, but you are such a smart girl, you figured out that I knew what an opinion was all by yourself. Congrats kid. Whats this? Oh, but you overassumed. You assumed I didnt think your post was an opinion. Thats a shame. You were so close to looking like you were thinking coherently. Oh well, pobody's nerfect, right, kid?
Ahem, I read somewhere that there was this clan of crazy ninjas living under the sands of the Mongolian deserts. And that in the year 2068 they will all suddenly go on a rampage across the globe and kill maybe 200 people. But it is only theoretical at this point.
I think its funny that the theory describes a rampage as 200 slain. 200, out of the the estimated...what...36 billion people on the planet by that time? Oh yeah, thats a slaughter. lol
My earth science teacher back in 9th grade said that the sun has like a billion years left of life in it before it burns out. So scientifically speaking the world won't end for quite some time. Religously speaking. I've heard the whole end of the world speech so many times from my grandma I could scream. Infact I think I will..."AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! there :wigout: Nostradomous predicted that the world would be dictated by a warlike ruler and would meet a firey end in July 1999. According to Eastern calanders we've been past the year 1999 for quite some time and Western calanders say we are five years past that so, I guess ol' Nostradomus was wrong eh?
Speaking in terms of our yellow dwarf of a sun, the sun will not burn out. She will mature eventually into a white dwarf, which is very very very very much the exact opposite of burning out. In fact, it is quite a bit hotter than the yellow dwarf we have now. If anything, it will coax Mars, after a few million years, into becoming possibly life sustaining; albeit incredible durable life that can withstand hot days. Maybe I can even theorize so far that a particular moon on Jupiter, its name escapes me...but anyway, the moon is a reasonable size for a very very small planet, it has water, it has an atmosphere, which means it has air, and it has oxygen. In a few trillion years, its possible that this moon will be the next earth in our solar system. By then humans will have either died out, mutated into another race, or just plum left this galaxy.

Done and done. Bush will be gone soon, dont worry so much about him. You gotta remember, while he is a bit of a maverick, he's still under the thumb of other orgs. In other words, he wont be allowed to get too out of control with his 'shoot ath the hip' attitude.

I dont think protests do anything other than waste peoples time. I have, however, gathered petitions, and formal complaints and sent them to congressional members of California on many occasions. Its amazing how much you can get done, by directly going to the source for changes. Protesting is just propaganda.

If you want to know more information regarding crimes, dont forget the Freedom of Information Act. You can go directly to the FBI for files and data on various cases. Its actually pretty trippy, what a person can find out legally. And pretty useful when state jurisdiction files run dry.

Every generation thinks their generation is "the" generation. Throughout history, people have come up with fantastic ideals of their own interpretation of doomsday; everyone thinks the world is coming to an end. I dont think humans can destroy life on earth, but I do think we are capable of seriously decreasing our own numbers. Its a bit arrogant to assume we are strong enough to kill our planet, and ALL life. There is no question we will die out long before the planet reaches its death of natural causes. On another note, we just might migrate to another place eventually. I mean, its happened before, some theorists believe anyway.

*claps* This is me giving Chibihorsewoman all the applause I can. Brilliant posts. *claps s'more*
That's what you think with your "mighty" attitude. If you want to believe that it doesn't matter, hey, go right ahead, but your thoughts aren't the only ones that count you know. This is really a light hearted discussion, kid, so there's no need to get deeply serious or anything like that. keke. color]
Dont forget dingus, it was an opinion. Do you know what an opinion is kid? You do? Ahhhhh thats just swell! Now remember kid, what I said was my opinion. Dont forget that kid, okay? Dont forget what the mighty Winter has told you; it was an opinion. Ah, I'm sure you wont let the mighty Winter down, will you? Of course you wont, right kid? Because you know it was an opinion, right?

There's a saying I picked up during high school "Censorship causes blindness; lack thereof is mindless." There is a problem with telling others what they can and cant see, it restricts growth, and realization of what reality is. But when you dont set up boundries, people can lose their sense of compassion, and gain a stronger apathetic sense of the world around them. Basically its the "damned if you do, and damned if you dont" philosophy.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the problem is most people are wearing glasses they bought from Macy's. Point is, yeah, society dictates what is to be accepted as beauty. But people who are enraged by what society tells them have more than just that as a problem. Lets get real. Its not that importtant. Especially to be furious about. Yall have your own minds to decide what is beautiful. Who really cares what society says? Why should you? Make up your own mind, and quit getting pissed about something that cant be changed. Unless you like being angry. Another thing that one should take into account is that perception of beauty can change from the self in time. You may have qualifications of what you define as beauty *which ultimately is ridiculous* but dont be surprised if you end up falling in love with someone who completely defies what you set up in your head as the standards for beauty. All in all, beauty in people, or anything for that matter, really isnt that important. Date, mate, and procreate. Then die.
If it's getting too hard, quit. Don't waste time on such trivial things.
Funny, I agree with someone on this site. Give up. Nothing is really worth blood, sweat, and tears, however metaphorically. Or dont give up, and continue to stress yourself over it, only to have the finished product ripped apart by critics, or not even get off the ground to see the light of day.

Porn: like or dislike and comments.....
Winter replied to Inuyasha Fandom's topic in General Discussion
I personally have always hated porn. If this is so important, why dont you post it at a more appropriate thread, instead of pleading with mods to not close it here? -
I just watched that film on my birthday last week. Surprisingly great film. Cant wait to see Bale in Batman....mmmmmm

I love metal. Black metal specifically. I'm listening to Emporer right now. Dimmu Borgir, Gorgoroth, Immortal, Children of Bodom, vintage Iced Earth, vintage King Diamond, Exoddus, Marduk, Tiamat, Carpathian Forest, are some of my more prized black/thrash metal bands. Sonata Arctica, Symphony-X, Stratovarius, Mob Rules, Nightwish, Mercury Tide, Dream Evil, Angel Dust, Rhapsady, and Blind Guardian are some of my favorite more melodic metal bands. Opeth, and Anathema are probably the only gloom/death metal bands that I like.

If only people could piece portions of a conversation in reality, and respond to it individually, rather than take it on as a whole, eh? Dead End was brilliant because of the way in that it was able to defy the norm of the films. It wasnt the comic, but it wasnt the typical theatrical release, and it didnt even try to be. *Ignoring that fact that even if it wanted to be, it couldnt have considering its budget* I think Loeb is a good writer. I know you were generalizing in that he put every villian in it, but since you so loverly pieced apart my post, I'll get technical with you as well; where was the Penguin? Sure he is dead, but so was Todd, and Loeb managed a way to bring him back for the moment. It was the little things in Hush that really got to me. The way Todd was fighting. If you read Nightwing, you'd recognize that Todd was fighting just like how Nightwing fights, and when Batman made the connection, what can I say, it was just nifty. Speaking of Loeb, I think he's doing a good job with Hulk Grey. Everyone hates the Hulk, but he manages to make it readable. Did you read Daredevil: Yellow? Another Loeb/Sale work. And another very good recreation of the origin of Daredevil. And what about The Long Halloween? Did you not think that was a great story? I thought it was excellent, personally. The way the ending seemed to defy the entire path of the story. I thought it was great.
I wasn't skirting your point, Winter. I was stating why it was not applicable. Religion needs faith, but faith does not need religion. What you stated, Shinken, is accurate. Just because the founders of a country were of a specific religion, it does not mean this trend needs to be continued. As it stands, there are too many people, with too many different beliefs, all committing crimes. What is the point of giving criminals options based on their spiritualtiy? If they have gone and broken the laws of both the state and the church (whichever one it may be), they should not have the right to such an option.
First, let me say that I believe that religious motives shouldnt be a factor in political ideals. I get the impression that you think otherwise, so I'm just getting that out in the open. Moving on, you stated that religion need not be a force in govt like it seems to be just because it was from the start; of course it neednt be. Who are you telling? But the fact of the matter is; it is. Period. Bush is toting the bible, in his campaign against abortion, and certain types of marriage, why? Support. He's lost support from most reasonable sources around the country, but he still has a grasp on southern bible touters. So to keep that, he's got to do what he's got to do. And lets keep in mind that when it comes to presidency, you must realize that in order to gain support from the majority of voting Americans, you've got to play the religious angle, especially Christian. You want a society that seperates all aspects of religion from state; it just aint gonna happen. Laadeedaa, if we could elect people of stable mind, and sound morality that neednt rely on religious doctrines; but we cant, and we dont. Like I said before, religion is an important aspect for many voting Americans. Sure, we can strive to create a religiously neutral society, we can strive to an ideology of equality, freedom, tolerance; but the reality is those are goals that will never be met. Only forever sought after. I'm sure history is enough proof to support that claim. There will be always some portion of society that weighs influence, and is coincidently subconciously governed by a set of ideals from a metaphysical source. Thats the way human nature is. In the end, people are of fragile minds, and look to hold onto even the most abstract of concepts. Until we are controlled by beings that are incapable of thinking monotheistically, or multitheistically, we will always have religion seeping up as a covert, driving force in the world.

Laruku are definately a talented band, whereas Hyde is just a pretty boy with a high voice. He isnt even that pretty of a pretty boy. I feel sorry for his newborn.
Faith n. 1. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. 2. Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. See Synonyms at belief. See Synonyms at trust. 3. Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters. 4. often Faith Christianity. The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will. 5. The body of dogma of a religion: the Muslim faith. 6. A set of principles or beliefs. Faith and religion are different things, Winter. Faith, as the dictionary states, is the belief in something's being correct. Faith isn't necessarily religious. You can have faith in the fact that KILLING=BAD. This is not necessarily a religious ideal. Religion is an organized form of worship. Attending some form of Church, or, as Baron suggested, eating buffalo on Thursday (for spiritual purposes *laughs*), are examples of religion. You do not have to sit in a church every Sunday and pray in order to have faith in a set of perfectly reasonable morals (that do not have to be spiritual, themselves). Our society, on a non-religious base, teaches us that we must not kill, steal etc... This has nothing to do with eating buffalo, ever. Let's try to stay on topic. Please?
Very clever, albeit winded, way of going around my point. *applauds* But in response to your essay of a post, I'll say that religion and faith do go hand in hand. I mean, what reasonable person can be religious, and believe in a supreme boogyma....er...being, without having faith? And here is another tidbit for you. Our society was constructed with quite a bit of help from the Freemasonic statutes, which *gasp* are religiously driven. Why do I make that corellation? Well because many of our founding fathers were Freemasons. Deny it all you want, there are some people who need their religion to sustain a sense of morality.

Batman: Hush was probably the greatest story ever in the series, next to Year One. I just finished reading through the Murderer-Fugitive series, and that was excellent as well. The new movie, starring Christian Bale, is going to definately redeem the genre in the films. And for anyone who thinks they are a Batman buff; have you seen the independant film that was created and shown last year at a select few comic conventions? The film is ******** brilliant. I think the live action tv show was a terrible attempt at adapting the comic. And the recent movies have really tarnished the credibility. At certain points, even the comics became terrible. What I love about Batman, is his cold, calculating demeanor. His will for justice, at certain times, in certain comics, borderlines psychotic. Sometimes I think he's crazier than the guys he goes after. Who rememberes when Jason Todd died? At first I thought it was really messed up, how he died, but after reading it more than once, it became hilarious to me. And as much as I love Batman, I have to say I like Nightwing better. What I hate about Batman Beyond is its just not what would happen in the series. Bruce said himself at one point, if there was ever going to be someone to take up the Batman persona when Bruce is too old, it would be the current Robin, Tim Drake.
