2. I'm so sorry that I haven't been able to post,I'v been camping and computers wont plug into trees.:( . But now I'm back and ready to otaku! Ereshkigal, you'll have to improove your spelling and post quality a but but I'll let you in on a trial run. (And yes, I do know that I'm being a bit hypocritical, but I'm working on it.) Arika, the last spot is saved for you. I'll post in the adventure later on tonight.
3. 1.'OOC:' stands for 'Out Of Character'; 'IC' stands for 'In Character'. 2.The 'pool' is a creature. 3.Could I please have the characters making their way to the 'Crater' (partialy described in the dream seaquence that Daro had) 4. I'm so sorry about not posting, I'm camping at the moment
4. OOC:thank you for posting Doukeshi. Thank you very much. IC:Dawn broke; not the sweet sunrise of our world but a reddening of the clouds that seemed to cast poolds of fresh blood accross the landscape. Daro slowly pulled himself to his feet, looking arround him. The elf was sleeping lightly and the man from last night was gone. Daro stood up and stepped outside the shalow cave. The man emerged from around a bend in the clif face. What was his name...Callum.They made breif eye contact and each went on their own way. Daro clambered on top of a rock to get a better view of his surroundings. Where there had been flat ground yesterday there was now a large dank pool, the neadle-like spines poking through it looked like patches of swamp grass. A fen beast. They mooved along lika a giant ooze, entraping it's prey and coroding through it's skin and bones. In efect it was a giant stomach. And it was slowly coming this way. Daro hopped off his rock, cursing. It was a big one, it encompased most of the plain that their small cave faced. They would have to scale the Clif to escape it. Daro ran inside to warn the others... OOC:sorry about the length and the quality. I'll check it later, I'm reely straped for time at the moment.
5. 1.Nah, I've got the gist of your powers. 2.I'll try to improve the quality of my writing in the RP 3.Keaping the '8 person' rule. 4.Daro's just tired and grumpy. 5.Could we please have some more people else posting in the RP? ( it did say in the breifing that you had to be dedicated to the RP) 6. I's hard for me to get on the site at the moment as I'm on holidays camping. (I'll do it whenever I can)
6. Daro pulled his cloak around him, his thoughts slowly slipping away into darkness. His mind lingered on the strange Elf that he had just met.She was overconfident, foolish. The blackness enclosed him? ?Daro was standing in the torture chamber again, battering the Goblins with his malformed fists. pain and rage coursed through his bulging flesh; he felt the bony protrusions erupting from his back? ?He stood upright. He was somewhere else. The sky glowed a faint red through the ever present the grey-black clouds reached further than the eye could see. He looked around. He was standing on an unbelievably wide, flat plain. The ground was smooth and black like obsidian. In the distance stood jagged mountains. He turned around. The mountains forming a ring around the flat plain. No, the plain wasn't quite flat; it sloped slightly. It was lower in the middle? For the first time, he noticed others on the plain. Most of them where just silhouettes. One of them was filled in. Noier. That blasted Shadow elf was here. Daro bolted awake. Something had happened. A noise. inside the cave? OOC:someone else can enter now?
7. I was rather tired of the traditional 'Good vs Evil' thing, so I made this world with a different set of morals and philosophies (and what better way to do that than change what is concidered 'normal'). I've been meaning to do it for quite a while. Your powers are fine, your in. I just needed some more expliation for them. Remember that they're going to change and get more powerful in the future.
Your character must change/adapt/'evolve' like a real life person would
This is so that your character dosen't exist as a static, two dimensional entity. Your character must react to situations appropriately and his/her personality is no set in stone. Yes, it is also refering to the 'hereoes journey'. If many more people realy want to join, I might waver the 'eight people' rule. Electic, could you please finish your character soon. P.S. The spelling/grammar/punctuation rule applies more to RPs than to recruitment. It's so that people don't use internet shorthand in RPs and so they don't write a scrappy post. Thanx for your concern though.
8. Electic: your character is looking fine so far, just finish her bio, ethics an stuff. Motafi: Could you phease be more specific about niore's powers, ant try to give them a bit of a twist so there not normal. other than that, you should be fine. \I have started the adventure thread so can start posting :) (yay!)
9. I haven't done anything on Greak Tregety yet :(, but I have done some more modern plawrights like Artoud, Brect and Stanislavski (there was another one who created 'theatre of the oppresed', but I can't remember his name. I think it began with a 'B'?). Does anyonehave an opinion on these guys?
10. Something stirred in the void? a blackness awoke. A scream ripped through reality, tearing at the hearts and minds of all. The gods died. There was a world before the cataclysm. Nobody remembers it. Before the cataclysm there ruled many a mighty, golden empire. People conquered and built in the name of the gods. The world prospered; the good slew the evil; the definitions of right and wrong where clear, defined. The cataclysm destroyed the world, killing all but the most protected creatures. The sky was tarnished with an eternal fog, casting the world in an unending half-light. Rains of acid and blood fall from the infinite dark clouds. Where there were once great forests, only foetid swamps lie, alive with the dead. Fields became living pits of insects. All but the mightiest mountain ranges toppled, spreading rubble over vast areas of land. Great rifts appeared in the landscape, swallowing towns and villages. The seas turned black and became inhabited by great monsters, alive and dead. The energies that remain in this world from the dead gods halve started to seek new vessels. Eight creatures have gained the potential to become gods. They fell a pull towards 'The Crater'', rumoured to be the sight of the cataclysm few have seen the place and lived, even fewer have maintained their sanity. They now feel the call of adventure apon them, none know why. Their powers are undeveloped; their minds may not be ready. They may become allies or bitter enemies. The future of this world belongs to them? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Daro pulled his cloak around him to protect himself from the encroaching cold. He inched himself closer to the small fire that he had constructed with the bones of the Karatch that he had killed earlier for meat. Wood was valuable and hard to find. Its bones smouldered and gave off very little warmth. But it would have to do. Daro scanned the barren vista around him, surveying the jagged field of rocks outside his cave, hoping that nothing out there was hungry. He'd been travellingfor weeks since he had escaped the torture chambers of those wretched goblins. He had felt an unknown force slowly pulling him in a direction that held no significance to him. He reached out to poke the fire with a bone and caught sight of his deformed hand. He scowled, self-loathing rushing through him. I used to be perfect. What's wrong with me? What's happening to me?!?. He clenched his teeth and pulled his malformed hand inside his cloak. Every time it happens I loose more of me. How can I stop it from happening. He heard a noise at the mouth of the shallow cave. He span around suddenly and saw a figure shilueted in the entrance?
11. yeah, that sounds good. If anyone wants to sign up after this has started, they should. I'll probably start the RP in 15 minuets or so? P.S. all of your characters are fine.
12. Christmas: Te bigest single example of capotalism that this world has. Parent lie to their children because they beleive that the kiddies need Santa. They don't; It's the adults who need Santa. They need to believe that children are simple enough to require the existance of a fat man in red to be happy. This is hammered in by buisneses and the media. But hey, It 'aint all bad? you get presents. (I'm currently waiting for my new stilts to arrive in Australia, they won't get here untill early january) As for the jesues birthday thing? well, as cloricus said, Jesus wasen't born on the 25th of December. (yes, this statement does meen that I beleive Jesus existed. He was not the sun of god, he was simply a revolutionarey who helped to overthrow an oppresive regime.) Not only did the stelar event which 'fortold' his birth occur on a day that was not the 25th of December, it occured in a year that was not 1AD, jesus was born on 8BC. The people who wrote the bible 50 YEARS AFTER THE DEATH OF CHRIST got it wrong (in those days, 50 years whas one-and-a-half lifetimes). Anyway, I got a bit off topic there. I beleive that christmas is a sham, but it is also a bloody good excuse for presents.
13. I was planing to wait for a few more people to sign up, but we could start soon if you want. What does everyone else think? P.S. I'll probably start with each person being drawn towards the site of the cataclysm and they can meet up along the way. Does that sound good, or would you prefer another approach. (I'm open to any ideas)
14. very good sofar Ohkami. Just finish up. One thing though, this is a setting with medievil technology, so could you modify your garb a bit? just change zippers to buttons and tshirt to blouse or something. Thanx. Yeah, thats good, just tone down the starting power a bit. limit yourself to animals of a particular size and have unstabe mutaions or something. For now, anyway. P.S. could we plese get some more twisted characters? (remember that this is a harsh, distorted world with a different set of morals)
15. The powers that the characters receive are not from any particular gods, these are simply ambient energies left over from the dead gods. You are free to develop your powers along with your personality. Eventually, your character will fit into category of "the god of 'suchandsuch'" (you could end up being the god of more than one thing) . Very nice doukeshi. You?re in.
16. I've already written it? I modified my orrigonal post. Some more points for this RP: *Shadow Elves and Ghost Elves hate each other. *Use fantasy type names if possible I will probably add to this list later
17. OOC: yeah, skeddy does have the crystal
Talen bent down and collected the Copy crystal from the ground, allowing it to pull itself into his sphere.
IC: Shanga pulled herself up from the ground just in time to see her double flow back together and reform. She smashed it again before it could reform and stomped on the remains. She wached with horror as the metal began to flow up her legs, pinning her in place. Shankúl and his double fled from each other, neither could win in this bright light. As Shankúl ran out of the citty, he saw Shanga standing mute and resolute in the middle of the open ground outside the citty? Shanga looken arround the small room that she now found herself in, her mind raced. she had been trying to escape from the molten mirror that had been flowing up arround her? then she had found herself here. It was a small, unremarkable room made of concrete. There where no doors, no windows. She tried to break a rift in the wall, but found that it didn't respond to her efforts. "Well, well, well. look who's stuck in here" She looked arround for the sauce of the voice but found nothing. "It looks like I'm in controll of this boddy now." The voice that echoed through the small room was her own voice? Shankúl watched as Shanga opened her eyes and looked arround. She smiled. She took one look at him and started walking back towarsd the Dirt Tunnel. "Are you coming or not?" Shankúl followed her reluctantly. Something wasen't quite right. He glanced at his Omnilink. There was only one brown dot?
18.
he should be tried in an American court, in my opinion. Because, let's face it, a lot of these people are still scared of him.
You fools! The american war court!?! Do you know how unfair and biased that is!?! The accused gets a military lawyer who is being payed by the miliytary caught, they only alow the evidence that they want to be used to be presented and the President *spits* gets the final say in EVERYTHING that happens in the war court! If the Iraqui people lay down their arms to the invading american forces, all hope will be lost. TO ARMS, BROTHERS!!!!
19. Elvs can normaly go between the spirit real and the normal realm. However, this procecss usually takes a minuet or so, so you could hve instentanious travel between the two realms. You could also have a half in/half out mode, where you can fight in combat and become almost imposible to hit. Just a pointer if you want to have a power like that. by the way, the entire of each elven race mutated, so the elvs don't have bad legs or anything. Sorry, diden't reely make that ckear (although some of them would probably have compleetly silver eyes or long clawlike nails. And yes, elvs do have pointy ears. Tolkien pointy, not Anime pointy. Almost forgot, false name.
20. Although most perished, some survived? The elves retreated across the gulf of existence. Half fled to the misty plain of Algar, becoming the pale Ghost Elves, while the other half of the race fled to the shadowy realm of Mersia, becoming the darkened Shadow Elves. Both races of elves gained a slight intangibility, allowing them to slip free of the solid realms and become untouchable, except to other intangible creatures. Most of humanity receded and became the Ghouls, twisted half-dead cannibals. The rest of the human survivors took refuge in their cities. When the survivors emerged, they where surprised to find some of their number twisted and mutated, some of those few where a quater dead already. The Dwarves fled deeper into the earth to escape the disaster, where they developed crude machines as replacements for lost and mutated limbs. Here, they created great smoke belching factories of metal and brimstone. Other races roam the lands; mutated, twisted and bloodthirsty. Tribes of goblins are constantly picking at whatever scraps they can find; mutant and undead animals hunt the desolate wastes of once beautiful savannas; all life has been shattered and perverted, with living corpses almost as plentiful as real creatures. ---- The society that rose from the shattered remains of this world was one unlike any other before it. Without the gods to guide them, people created their own sets of morals. The dead where no longer sacred, they where tools for the living, serving in the more menial tasks and in the gladiatorial arenas, animated with magic as mindless creatures. In this world there is no good and evil; right or wrong, there is only what you choose to believe. Over the next thousand years, the humans re-populated their cities and established trade routes --- The energies that remain in this world from the dead gods halve started to seek new vessels. Eight creatures have gained the potential to become gods. They fell a pull towards 'The Crater'', rumoured to be the sight of the cataclysm few have seen the place and lived, even fewer have maintained their sanity. They now feel the call of adventure appon them, none know why. Their powers are undeveloped; their minds may not be ready. They may become allies or bitter enemies. The future of this world belongs to them? ------------------------------------------------- Some guidelines/rules to go by: *You must be dedicated *Standard OB and adventure arena rules. *I must approve your characters (don't worry, I'm not to picky) *No swearing, not even censored swearing. *The powers of the eight are undeveloped (minor) and they will slowly evolve to suit their personalities and actions. *Your character must change/adapt/'evolve' like a real life person would *Only eight players *No god modding (even gods can die) Here's the sign up sheet: Name: (pretty self evident) Race: (human, dwarf, elf (shadow or ghost), other (please state)) Age: (make it applicable for your race) Description: (Most creatures are slightly mutated. Ghost Elves glow with the strength of a candle, Shadow Elves have velvet black skin and no hair.) Equipment: (no guns, this is a low tech world) Code of ethics: (What your character believes is right or wrong, include personality) Bio: (brief history) Starting powers: (Minor powers that you start with, base these off your code of ethics and your characters history) ------ Here's my character, if you have any questions just ask. Name: Daro Race: Human Age: 17 Description: Daro is was of the few unchanged humans left, He prided himself in his flawless beauty. Now however, he loathes himself because his god-power is slowly mutating him, turning him into a creature akin to the beasts that prowl the wastelands. Equipment: Daro still carries the sword that he used before his mutations started. He was once a very skilled swordsman, but claws are no good for welding steel. Code of ethics: Daro believes that flawlessness is perfection, and goes to great lengths to hide his disfigured body. Bio: Daro was once tall and handsome. He was a brilliant sword master and accompanied trade caravans from city to city for a modest fee. On one particular trip, his caravan was attacked by a hoard of goblins of the Aro-Atch tribe. He was taken as a prisoner and was forced to drink experimental elixirs. The elixirs mingled with his awakening god-power and caused him to mutate horribly. He escaped and his body slowly returned to a more normal state. The mutations would never leave him though. Starting powers: In times of danger his body mutates horribly, turning him into a veritable killing machine.
21. As I mentioned before, my DM is rather phsychotic(sp?). He gets over attached to his NPC's (non player characters). He decides that he likes a certain NPC and enacts revenge on us when something happens to them. this sounds harmless enough, but I have only once gotten a character above 3rd level. to give you an idea of how attached he gets to the rong characters, here's an example: When he was young, he watched Alien. He became attached to the wrong character; the queen alien. When she died, he cried. (he also laughed when yoda died). (he also enjoys hurting other people and is immaculately clean)
22. OOC: I was refering to the 'no powers work inside this zone' thingy as the ring and I was refering to the extra crystals on your weapons that where created by the Arigias. But I made it so that it had no practical bearing on the upcoming combat. Lrb, have you been reading skeddy's posts? he has the crystal and the weapon at the moment. And from the amount (and quality) of storytelling he's done before he's gotten it (and he still can't use it), he has earned that weapon more than any fo us have. Shanga clenched her jaw and charged straight at her coppy, fists raised. Her metal fists glinted in the sunlight as she reached her 'reflection'. Her reflection struck back; neither landing a blow. They where as equaly matched as she had been with Austin in the figt that happened not a day before. It was odd to think that? *oof* Shanga flew accros the hilside and pommeled into the smow. She glaired at the coppy as it ran towars her. She had let herself fall into thaught when she should anve been in action. She watched her self running towards herself and waited untill the final moment before she leapt up and smashed her coppy in the jaw. Shankúl watched as one of the Shangas fell to the ground, her neck snapping on a jutting peice of rock. For the first time in his life he hoped that the real one was unhurt. But there was no time for such thaughts now. He turned back to his own coppy and recommenced the fight. They where both srevearly weakend by the glairing sunlight. But they faught on, dagger for dagger? Shanga looked at the shatterd rmains of her coppy, glinting in the sinlight like a milion shards of mirror. Suddenly she realised her own mortality. If this version of her could die so easily, then she could die just as easily. She sat staring at the shards of glass that where all that remained of the rapidly deteriorating boddy of her coppy, ignorant of all that went on arround her. She saw something moveing in the fiew shards that remained on the ground. She looked up, starteld, expecting to see a dragon. Instead she saw, in the distance, the other half of their group flying towards the Windy Plains. OOC: Colour Deaf? JJRiddler? can you please post?
23. The group of teens advanced towards the mirrored citty silently. Talen strode out infront of the group, eager to attain his weapon. The tension was thick in the air. Shanga heard a dull thud beside her. She turned and saw Shankul collapsed in the snow. Shankul looked arround himself. He was in an infinite plain of blackness, his boddy below him. He laughed; realising at once what had happened. That fool Kanrilk thaught that he could controll the Arigias just because he had found it first. The Arigias was inherently evil; Kanrilk was inherently good. He might be able to assert his will over it for a time, but it would fight back; it would disobey him. Shankul felt the Arigais calling to him; his spirit glided towards it's beacon. He felt it's power there, infront of him. He reached out with a sceletal hand and grasped the Arigias; flowing into it. He forced himself past Kanerilk's mental barrier and lay within the weapon; controling it. --------------------- Shiro smiled, the ring had vanished, as had the extra crystals on the weapons of Kanerilk's and Mika's weapons. Shinro steped forward and the crystals reapeared. As did the ring? --------------------- Shankul felt himself being forced out of the weapon by all the concentrated willpower of Kanerilk. He cursed. He had been distracted by the exitement that he had felt at the thaught of controling the Arigais. No matter, his time would come. The weapon had spoken to him, it wanted to be his. And it would be? Shanga watched as, seconds later, Shankul awoke, smiling plesently to himself. They continued their treck to the mirrored citty? OOC:A prelude of things to come?
24. I've played D&D, D20 Modern and a rather breif game of shadowrun. I started out with D&D 2nd ed and moved on to 3rd ed rather quickly (I never got the hang of THAC0's) I verry rarely have a character above 3rd level as I have a rather phsychotic DM. We've recently been experimenting with RPG's over MSN mesenger because we don't reely get the time to meet and play:(.
25. Katoomba, NSW. 'bout two hours drive inland from Sydney. Glad to find out that there are some Aussies on here. I'm currently in the limbo between year 10 and 11 (if you know the NSW education system) AUSSIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
