I really like Pilot Canidate. I don't think it was THAT much like Eva... I mean, I just don't really think they're alike that much. Maybe it is a copy, but still....they had pretty different environments and feels... Here's a good Megami Kouhosei (pilot candidate) page.... http://www.satinflame.net/resuko/megami/main.html Lots of info and pics and all that good stuff.

Anime Anime Fans are isolated...Opinions?
Originally posted by ~*!Rei Hino!*~ Today I wore a SAilor Moon shirt to school, when I walked into my first class, the person next to me said, "Sailor moon?! That is so gay. Your the biggest loser I know." that made me feel real great. :(
That's pretty cold to say to someone.... People are stupid to say things like that. I think rap is stupid but I don't walk around telling people listening to rap that they're the biggest losers I know... My Dad keeps telling me that more people than I think like anime, and that I should...I dunno....ask people if they like it. I don't think I'll be asking people about it anytime soon, but I have noticed some people around my school that like anime. The other day on the bus there was a girl with the "Ground of Evangelion vol. 2" book, and she was drawing from it and she had some Escaflowne sketches as well. I also met a girl who loved Escaflowne the other day, and we had a huge discussion about it. This is new to have fans at school, since at my old school I know there weren't any fans outside of DBZ. -
I would say Neon Genesis Evangelion, like Gokents, since that's really popular, and Kenshin is always pretty popular. ^-^

No, I'm sure a lot of people don't find them annoying. lol. See, that's not funny, because I made a potentially life threatening typo up there. -Flash I thought the Japanese voices were annoying sometimes, and a littlr dry, but maybe that's just me. I didn't think the dub was all that bad, but I bought the DVDs, so I have both versions.... I never really got into Eva that much even though I've almost finished the series. I dunno, maybe that was because of the dub... But I started watching it in dub before I got into watching anime subbed, so it was hard to watch the whole thing over again subbed....

Oh yeah, that was "the magical world of DiC" that dubbed and edited the first 2 seasons of Sailormoon. I guess I can't call their music techno. It was more like just plain synthesizer beats, but the beautiful orignal SM music was most deffinitely taken out. I see that as a major edit that wasn't necessary. It just made the show more childish.
Originally posted by Smoky Joe Only after seeing (or hearing) things like that can I comprehend Q Asuka's hate for DBZ, and dubbing. However, I've noticed that you have a problem noticing the difference between "Dubbed Animé" and "Edited Animé". A huge percent of "Dubbed Animé" manages to keep the storyline faithful to the original, and voices that fit the characters. In worst case scenarios, they may remove some nudity or cursing. Examples of good "Dubs": Cowboy Bebop Yu Yu Hakusho Fist of the North Star Sorcerer Hunters Metropolis "Edited Animé", on the other hand, is usually aimed at a younger, "mainstream" audience, and it is toned down according to it. However, if done correctly, it can still be a good adaptation. Examples of good "Edits": Digimon Tamers Tenchi Muyo Sailor Moon (early seasons) Thanks for reading! :D
Actually, whether the dubs are usually almost alwaus edited whether they're aired on TV or not. I can't believe you just said that what DiC did to Sailor moon and R was good editing. They totally slaughtered those seasons. The voices....the scenes I(end episodes) they cut out, and the language that they changed to make the show more juvenile... It's just awful. There is no way that could be good editing. The later seasons weren't that bad once Pioneer took over. The subitled version is still much better, but hey, at least Pioneer left the original music unlike DiC who threw in some techno crap.

The only hobbies I have are anime, manga, and just anime/manga related stuff (mostly) on my computer. That's seriously it.
Originally posted by Endymion Serious question. Aren't Arisu and Alice the same thing? Switch R and L (which is an easy thing to do with Japanese names) and switch S and C (because they sound the same) and the name sounds easily like Alice-oo. It's a long shot, but it happens. Sheesh. And I wonder why people call me a dubbie... *looks at his small mixed collection of dubbed and subbed anime*
You have a point, but Alice sounds really different than Arisu when the voice actors say it.... And no one else's names really changed, so it sticks out even more. >.<

I like the voice actor's voice, it just doesn't sit well with me as Sesshomaru's voice.... That gruffy voice and the suave Sessho don't seem good to me....but I guess it's only me on this one. lol.
-
Geh. I'm starting to like the dubbed version less and less. I could hardly watch the whole thing tonight.... I had a great urge to turn it off and do something else. And Sesshomaru's voice....it's Zech's voice(I think). I don't like it. I imagined Sesshomaru having a totally different voice. That voice is just too... I don't know. Sesshomaru acts delicate and that voice sound sbuff to me.... -.-

The problem is that if you have a free account at Livejournal you get a code after having the account for a week, and that's the only one you'll ever get. Which I think is rather stupid since most people have more than one friend....
Originally posted by Utena_Tenjou I don't remeber if I said these but- 1)Fake(It's not drawn pretty, but it's still really good, it has a good twist of action and comedy) 2)Gravitation(This REALLY needs more fans >_< if I like anything from that series it's the music, Shinning Collection is the best anime song ever, again, this has a nice mix of comedy, romance, and music, but the dubbing sucks, there getting a surfer dude to do Ryuichi's voice >_

I liked your current one the best, too. I agree with what others have said about borders. They make everything look a little bit cleaner.... Hey Pyro Kai, I had that problem when I uploaded Renegade's avatar. You need to change the extension to .bmp (probably) and then open it in an image program and save it as a .jpeg or .gif. I think what happened was it was "saved" as a .gif when it's really a .bmp, as in it wasn't really converted, the name was just changed.
-
When they dub anime they often change names, too. It may be a rather minor difference, but you're already losing out on the original version. I bought the Lain DVD, so after I watched the subbed version, I watched the dubbed version just out of curiosity, and they changed the name "Arisu" to "Alice". O.o That was surprising, and especially because Lain isn't a network anime or anything, that was just plain editing. I'm assuming they would call it "uncut", but it really was altered.

huh. I don't really think the movie by itself was oscar-worthy either. It was a nice addition to the series, but it wasn't THAT good. Although I did really like it, I don't see how it could win an Oscar....
-
I knew you were talking about the series.... If you haven't seen the movie, Domon, I really recommend it. ^-^ It was a lot better than I thought it would be. And since you've seen the series, I think you would appreciate the movie. It may not make sense seeing the movie first, but as an afterwards film I found it very interesting. They're just different....
-
I agree. The movie was really rushed. Hitomi hardly knew Van, let alone have a converstion with him, really, and all of a sudden she's pretty much confessing her to love him.... I thought it didn't exactly give their relationship enough time, it was just there all of a sudden. Nothing seemed to be explained very well, except maybe Folken's ambitions. That was pretty clearly explained.... Other than that, though, it did feel very rushed.

Spriggan was a good action-only movie, but I would Highly recommend Princess Mononoke. Most places have it, and it's one of my favorite anime movies. Escaflowne the movie was also pretty good. Other than that I didn't really like most of the anime movies I've seen....
-
You named the only two I know of, besides monthy manga magazines, and you said you didn't want those. I wish there were some more good anime mags around...(in US at least...^^)
-
I remember an earlier version that let you change your name. I didn't like it very much. Everyone got confused about who was who, but I know a lot of people are unhappy with their current names, so I'll be interested in what happens when/if the feature comes on. I can recall seeing it in the announcement as well, so it will probably be up sooner or later....

mm, yeah, I loved it when Van and Hitomi finally got their feelings accross to each other. ^^ It was so cute when Van went back to Earth to get her, and they had that cute little moment. Van's face was just so (I have to say it again....) cute when he was surprised that Hitomi hugged him. ^-^ That's one of my favorite parts in the series. I'm not sure why, but I was kind of expecting that Cheid was Allen's son. I felt kinda sorry for the Duke of Fraid.... His wife died (although she did love him) only having given birth to a child that wasn't his own. Hands down, Escaflowne is deffinitely one of my top favorites, too. It's just such a wonderful series....*sigh* I think it has the perfect combination of so many elements, and it just comes together beautifully. ^-^

lol. Those are funny! I like #1 about the rice crispies....I'll have to try doing that some time to my family. ^^

I want Yumi and Hideki to get (stay, actually) together, but that probably won't happen. I feel so bad for Yumi, she always looks to sad when Hideki expresses feelings for Chi. I mean, she really likes Hideki, and she's gonna be replaced by that machine?! I couldn't help it, but I started to hate Chi because of how bad I felt for Yumi. >.< Chi's cute and all....but I'm almost sick of her stupid reactions and everything. I hope she starts acting more real soon....

I played the Clarinet for 3 years and the bass clarinet for a year. I've given up both now since we have a nasty band in High School. I loved playing my clarinet though. We had some really great music with beats that just stuck in your head for days. ^-^
