There actually aren't a lot of covers I like...anyone who cover a Beatles song almost automatically has me despising the song (with a few exceptions). The covers I do like, however, I love. Come Together - The Beatles/Aerosmith I despise Aerosmith. But I absolutly love their version of Come Together. I can't quite say why. Day Tripper - The Beatles/Jimi Hendrix Hendrix made the guitars in this song about twice as good as normal. And that's hard, for me. Changes - David Bowie/Butterfly Boucher I love the original - I love the remake. I find it interesting that he sang on the remake, too...it kinda goes with NPC's statement...if you think having Bowie cover your song, imagine what singing with him would be like! I'm a believer - Neil Diamond/The Monkees/Smashmouth: I don't like Neil Diamond, but I love the monkees version...and then you have Smashmouth doing it...that's just 100 times better than the Monkees Daydream Believer - The Monkees/Shonen Knife No real explanation...i just do. Helter Skelter - The Beatles/u2/Pat Benatar/Motley Crue: While I think no one in existance sings this better than Paul, Pat Benatar sang this with the perfect semi-scary edge in her voice. u2, however, did a horrible job, in my opinion. I don't know if it's because Bono didn't put enough edge in his voice, or what, but it sounds weak. I did appreciate the "stealing this song back from Charles Manson" bit. I do not care for The Crue's verision, but even they did it better than u2.

Discuss POLL: What type of RPGs appeal to you?
Ozymandius Jones replied to Redemption's topic in Theater
Personally? I like scifi, in that with scifi you can do things like create a government department that monitors the flow of time, or a starship that can travel to distant worlds, and you don't have to rely on the old, "Well....it's magic!" response to why you can do that. It's more believable, and you don't have to put that much thought into it. Another favorite is fantasy-with-a-twist. Does your RP have elves? Give them machine guns. Make them gangsters. Give your dragons inferiority complexes...anything is better than "Villian 'X' is trying to take over the world! A motley crew of heroes must stop him". While this is entertining in it's own way, it does not really make me want to join. I also like historical/realistic. Not necessarily "normal" realistic - playing a teenager in high school, or who has just graduated, has very little interest to me, due to the fact that I really did just graduate. However, if it's historical, it gives me a chance to do something I never would get to/want to/have to do in real life. -
Ok, your request was a bit vague, so I just gave it a random shot. Avi Banner Hope you like them!

SIGN-UP Name: David Franklyn Age: 23 Gender: Male Origin: Great Britain Appearance: Dave He normally dresses like he is dressed in the picture - white, plain shirts and black jeans. (Note: I only chose Geo after I decided Dave was a musician. The personality just fit.) History: Dave has alway wanted to be a musician, from the time he was a small child. His parents supported him in this dream, and he bagan to rise up in the country as one of the nations best child singers - until the fire. When he was thirteen, he and his younger sister were trapped in a burning house - they both survived, but Dave's throat was badly damaged by the smoke. He hasn't been able to sing since then. Since his vocal chords were damaged, Dave has moved on to guitar. He plays phenominally - but will usually stop when others are around. He is very self concious of his voice, and as such rarely talks. He's currently at school for...well...he doesn't have a major picked out yet. Some would describe him as a typical, dreaming artist. Personality: Dave is quiet, but not because he's shy - he just doesn't see a point in talking that much, unless you have something to say. He's confident in his abilities, but doesn't like to show off. He's somewhat of a loner - a loner who, ironically, gets along pretty well with other people. Tattoo/s: Dave has a tattoo of a highly stylized series of musical notes wrapped around his upper right arm. The musical notes actually form words: "Sing for the Voice Lost". He also has a horseshoe tattooed on the sole of his right foot. [many thanks to Starrstruck for designing the musical notes tattoo]

SIGN-UP Name: Indigo Esbenshade Age: 14 Alliance: INFINITE Origin: Russia Appearance: Indigo. Only lose the sword and fancy clothes, add long pointed ears, make his hair wilder, his eyes a little bigger and cover him with short black and white fur. Gene: Zebra Personality: Indigo is basically a normal guy, but he's very skittish, very jumpy, and quick to fly off the handle. He doesn't like being confined, and hates being indoors. He likes sports, but (being the mutant freak he is) rarely or never gets a chance to play them. He's shy, but confident, if that makes any sense, and fairly competitive. He's also very much a follower. Motives: Indigo's father was one of the scientist who headed INFINITE. He never planned to use Indigo as one of the test subjects, but after Indigo's mother died, the child services department planned to give him to his grandmother. Not wanting to lose the only part of his family he had left, Indigo's father decided that the only way he was going to be able to keep his son was to use him as part of the project. Indigo really has no bad feelings about this, oddly enough...zebras had always been his favorite animal anyway. After they escaped, Indigo almost went back to his father, but overheard his father and one of the other scientists talking about the INFINITE children needing to be destroyed. He ran with the others. He sometimes still thinks about his dad - but doesn't ever want to see him again. He dreams of going to Africa someday. The zebra DNA made him very strong and very fast, but also very clumsy. He may look graceful, but he stumbles when he has to walk slowly. He's best defense is his feet - he can kick hard enough to break bones.

Banner #1: I like it, although the picture could be a little better. The font fits the mood of the banner very well...is that Squitcher? It looks like it... The Sonic one is very nice. I like the blues, they contrast nicely. The one directly under...the colors are nice, but it's a bit bland... And the one with the lady...Is that that one judge from American Idol? I'm always forgetting her name...it's very nice, too...I love the font contrast. That's probably my favorite in this thread.

Ok, I thought I'd give this a try....banner funness. You could always altenate...use his set one week, use my set the next two weeks, use his set half a week, my set two weeks...:p... In all seriousness, switching between both works. Lots of people *cough*me*cough* switch theirs more than once a week... And I won't compromise on them all, Trib...just watch.

I love vinyl. Sadly, I don't have a record player /turntable/whatever you want to call it. I wish I did...there's a flea market near where I live that sells old Beatles and Led Zepplin records. You can do some fun things with records, too...play 45s at 33 1/3, try and see if you can find the "hidden messages"...and I wonder why our old turntable broke... Personally, I even like the static noises you get from records. Unless you push the needle down too hard...anyway. I think there's more character in old vinyl records then there is in boring cds.

I really like the layout on that one, and the text fits. I'd give that particular banner 10/10. How does she keep her hair like that? O.o
Geez, yeah. Ozy Jones has made so many banners already. ^_^ I'm suprised Treno did mine before she did.
:D. He's talking about the font types, actually. As in, if you use the same exact font for every banner, things start losing their creativity...and I will rule this board. Treno cannot stop me... Anyways. ..., I really like the image effects you do. The layering looks very nice, and the pictures are very tastefully arranged. That being said, the text on some of them seems a little off. The Christian one is beautiful - but the font seems a little too...techno. I know the text isn't computerish, but when you compare it to the ornateness of his outfit - the design on his leggings, for example - and the test clashes a bit with the rest of the "feel" of the banner. I do really like the one with the girl with glasses...the color scheme is just right. I'd give a 9/10.

My first real expierience with death was when I was ten. One of my best friends at the church my dad pastored at had an older sister who everyone adored. She was really nice; I can't remember a single person ever saying a single bad thing about her. Ever. One morning before church, my dad got a phone call, and left the house, looking very worried. I remember waking up and seeing him leaving, and then falling back asleep. It ws very early, like 2 or something. The next morning, my mom came into my room, and told me this lady had died. I don't remember much else about it, except that apparently she just...collapsed. I remember it mostly, though, because it was the first time I ever saw my dad cry. The only death there has been in my family that I can remember was my great uncle...he died on Thanksgiving; the whole family was at my grandmother's, and the phone rang at two in the morning...by that time, I was old enough to realize that if the phone rings at two in the morning, it's never a good thing. My brother, sister and two cousins, however, just knew that they were awake, it was the middle of the night, wasn't this so cool? It the first time I ever wished I could go back to being a little kid, because I was the only kid who knew what was going on...all the grownups were in the other room with grandma. All the other kids thought it was fun...and I was the only one sad.

Director Riggs stared over the tops of his glasses at the group assembled at the table in his personal meeting room. They were all fairly young agents - with the exception of Henderson - and all of them looked nervous - with the exception of Hayes, who had his typical bored expression. Two of the specifically mentioned agents weren't there yet...Riggs smirked. It never fails, with these kids...late for everything.... He didn't really care...they had plenty of time...he let the blinds snap closed. Let the other agents stew in their nervousness... *** Tap...tap...tap... Prudence sighed. She felt like pounding her head on the table. Between listening to Eleanor's nervous babbling, Bulldog's almost sub-audible griping and Lucien and Hayes' subtle sniping, she was beginning to feel the burn in her eyes spreading towards the back of her head...never a good sign. Tap...tap...tap... She knew why she was here...the devices had been able to pick up at least the general time altered...The Nineteen Sixties had been one of her majors...why Bulldog was here was another question. Head of Research didn't normally get called out for anything. As for Agent Rhodes...Pru shook her head. She didn't even really want to think of the possibilities of why one of the most expirienced profilers was being called out for this... Tap tap tap... Ok. Enough is enough. She spun in her chair to glare at the other agents. "Would whichever one of you is doing that please cut it out?!" OOC: Er...yeah. Sorry about the delay (again), and for the shortish post...I want to kinda start getting character development going without getting too far ahead of Shy (who has RL things that have to take priority) and Grammar Panzer (whose computer has apparently crashed.) So...any of youse guys got the habit of finger tapping? Also, sorry for bugging you, Mouse...all is forgiven...you can stop clinging now...
