Melinoe quickly dodged her own whip, but Face wasn't that lucky. Face cried out in anguish and Pandora quickly realized the cause of panic in the group: the whip. Pandora used her psychic abilities to stop it, but due to the demonic nature, it was difficult to control. She eventually got hold of it so it wouldn't try to kill anyone anymore, but she could hear the whip's cries in her mind, "No! I will not bow down to anyone's control but Nemsis'!" Pandora replied with her thoughts, "You've been with Melinoe for God knows how long. You know her. The temple is the one you should be unleashing you're rage on." After a massive mental struggle, eventually the whip settled down and the group came back together again. "I could have handled it, you know," Melinoe said cynically. "You're welcome," replied Pandora. "Good job, Pandora," Kaida, "How's Face??" "Not good," someone replied, "He's suffered a massive wound to his chest, I think he might not make it." It wasn't long until Face breathed his last breath. The whole team was silent for a moment until Kaida got them going again. Pandora could sense that the entire group was shocked that they'd lost two team members in such a short time. She couldn't help but feel shaken as well. Due to the instability of her powers, she took a deep breath and got them under control. She followed blindly behind Unhate and Kaida, hoping that no one else would get hurt. Pandora inspected the walls as they walked by. The gold sheen seemed to almost move as they walked passed. She could sense something watching them. She didn't know what it was, but she hoped that she wouldn't have to find out. ----------- OOC: If I screwed up anything with the plot/people/powers, just pm me, and I'll fix it.

Let's see, my ancestry is...well...Finnish, Finnish, and only Finnish. I'm quite proud of my heritage, and though i've lived in the states most of my life, I still feel a connection to my homeland. (I also go there almost every summer.)
-
My name is fairly simple to pronounce. It's Me-(as in me, a name I call myself*sound of music reference*), Nah-, and Koh. Me-Nah-Koh. How my name came to me, was that this was the name of one of my former characters, and I liked it, so I use it often as a username, and a penname. I also use Minako06, and a rare, dark-raven06.

May I ask (I may have missed it in previous posts) but where did the Blue team mission thread go? I wrote my post and it kind of died. The person who was after me had a school trip for a week, and now it's been almost two months now. I apologize if my post wasn't a good enough quality, but I really liked the Legionnares. So, in essence, What happened to the Blue team thread? and What happens to the people who posted in that thread? Does it go to the Body Bag? Help is much appreciated! I hope that I could possibly get reconsidered for another mission with another team.

(OOC: So sorry it took so long! It won?t happen again!) The door opened to find about over three dozen guards waiting for them, in front of the large, concrete, box-like citadel, guns, lazer guns, knives, etc. drawn. "Oh Crap," thought Impulse. After the short battle, they faced the citadel. It looked to be made entirely out of concrete, as the walls were, and it looked like a large block. It was known that the building could possibly go far underground, but that was the least of their worries at the moment. Tech explained that the only way to get inside of the citadel was to swipe a keycard from one of the guards. Sparks walked over to the nearest guard and took his keycard and swiped it. A mechanical voice said, Access granted. The doors slid open and the team walked inside. Once inside, they found a lobby with a grand marble INFO-desk. Tech fired a stunning shot at the startled receptionist and Tech explained that Radisson's headquarters were located on the bottom-most floor. At this time, an alarm sounded. The hallway filled with a flashing red light with a voice over a PA system yelling, Intruder Alert Intruder Alert Code Red The team started running towards the hallway on the right and ran into a handful of guards. Sparks and Impulse easily handled them and they continued running. They reached an elevator, and once the door opened, another dozen guards came pouring out. Pandora became frustrated with all the noise, lights, and fights so she picked all of the squirming guards with her powers and flung them at an adjacent wall, knocking them all out at once. ?Take it easy, Pandora! Don?t get mad, ok???Sparks yelled as she thought afterwards, As if we need anything ELSE to worry about. They reached the bottom floor to find more another few dozen guards. ?How many guards does this Radisson guy have??? Tech claimed. After a brief scuffle, they came upon the core of the building. A glass-encased, long solarium, filled with exotic plants and animals. At the end of the long solarium, there was a grand mahogany desk with a chair, it?s back turned to the Blue Team. A calm, British-accent said from behind the chair, ?I?ve been waiting for you, Legionnares.? Then the chair slowly, turned around...

I just wanted my fellow Blue Team members to know that I will post tomorrow at Ajeh's request. It's just that the post quality has been so good so far, it's a tough challenge! Just a little update to the Blue thread...

I loved Gwen Stefani in No Doubt, but I'm kind of borderline with her new stuff. I think If I were a Rich Girl is ok, but I can't STAND Hollaback Girl! That song is everywhere! Yeesh! :animesigh However, I like What you waiting for? and her new song, Cool. The latter song reminds me of me and a guy friend of mine. *memories* I haven't bought her new album kind of out of fear because I didn't really like Hollaback, but maybe I'll give her a benefit of a doubt. *shrugs*

I cried during the last two episodes of Fruits Basket too, Naru! It was just so sad when
Kyo held Tohru and told her that she was telling the truth when she said that she was afraid of him like that! And the whole deal with his mother being afraid of him, and always checking if he had his bracelet on!!
So Sad! :animecry:

I saw this thread and I thought I'd give it a go. It's kind of big (700 x 919 pixels) so it's an attachment. I kind of screwed up her powers on the iPod... but try to ignore that.

100% pure Finnish to the bone. I was even born in Finland. :animesmil I MAY be 1/16th Swedish or Russian. There's a family conspiracy where my great-great-etc. grandmother had a child but never told anyone who the father was. Mind you, this was in the 1800's and a child's father was very important. The father could have been a Swedish farmer's son, or a Russian soldier. BUT on the whole, I'm 100% Finnish and proud of it. (Though now I'm Finnish-American... :animeangr ) *squee!* Sakurasuka's 80% Finnish! Now there are 3 finns on OB. I am very happy.

This looks interesting... *** Code Name: Pandora Gender: Female Location: Midwestern United States. She hangs around the Madison, WI area. Age: 21 Personal Appearance: Pandora is about 5' 6'' of medium build. She has short brown hair (cut around her chin), has green eyes, and wears think plastic-rimmed glasses. She commonly wears a over-sized dark green sweater (she knitted it herslef) over tight shorts and old, worn looking brown hiking boots (with a bit of her socks showing over the tops of her boots). [image to come soon] She also wears her signature worn-looking, floppy, dark brown Newsboy hat atop her brown locks. Personality/Behavior: Pandora is a pretty quiet girl. She keeps to herself and generally tries to avoid big social occasions (parties, etc.) do to the fact that she was raised under the theory, children should be seen, not heard. Though, as her name implies, it wouldn't be advisable to get her angry. Her temper can have devastating effects on the relationships around her...as well as the landscape. Though, when worst comes to worst, Pandora is a reliable friend, who will stand up for herself and those that she trusts. Personal History: Jennifer (Pandora) grew up in a pretty normal upper middle-class family in the Midwestern US. Her parents loved her very much and raised her the best they could (even if they were a little strict sometimes.) with the best things they could afford (private school, a car, etc.). Even though her parents loved her as much as they did, they always told her to keep her powers hidden. They didn't want the neighbors to suspect that something was wrong with their little girl. So, she honed her skills, alone, in her bedroom, using her books, stuffed animals, and such to practice levitating them and manipulating them with her powers. This is how Pandora was born. After gradutating high school as valedictorian, she went off to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jennifer felt restless at school there. She felt that she could do so much more with her life (as well as her powers) other than sitting in crowded lecture halls. Thus, after two years of wasted money, she dropped out of college. Her parents then disowned her and to this day publicly deny that they ever had a daughter. Jennifer is currently working at a coffee shop to pay her bills, but at night, when she is alone, she is Pandora. Yes, Pandora has accidentally killed people during those times where she has lost control. She regrets it with each passing day, but she tries to bury those feelings so that she won't lose control, and accidentally kill someone again. Though when Padora's box is opened, terrible things happen. Special Skills/Abilities: Pandora is a psychic, able to manipulate inanimate objects with her mind and swift motions with her hands. (she can also manipulate animate objects at times) She can levitate, repair, and destroy objects using her powers. As she manipulates an object, the object appears to have a greenish glow around it, a clear signal that Pandora is the one doing it. As her name suggests, when she gets angry, she can be very destructive with her powers. Her weakness is her temper. When she gets angry, she loses control, and baaad things happen. Thus she tries to stay calm at all times. Yes, she can be happy, but she just has to be careful with her temper. Player Availability: I can probably do (at least) once a week. If this interests me, I can do more, but if I get a really busy spell, it could be as much as biweekly. So, my safe bet is going to be once a week. Thread Rating: I guess I'll say PG. It could go M when Pandora loses her temper, but I'd say for the most part that it would be PG.

My last name is Swedish for "Alder (as in the tree) branch." Since I'm Finnish, it's common to have a Swedish last name but it's just that NOONE can spell it (or pronounce it) right! It's Ahlgren. (All-gren) I've heard Al-green, All-dren (my stupid history teacher) and the most common spelling mistake is that people forget the "h." Since my first name is a common one (and can be Swedish too), when I was in the passport checking-post in Sweden, the guy started speaking Swedish to me because of my name! I hurriedly said, "Intte svenska" which means "no swedish" and he aplogized. :animeswea

The first week of High school is scary, but, for me, Freshman Orientation helped me A LOT!! Anywho, I had a bad week. It was my first week of school during my foreign exchange year. I was alone, in a strange country, luckily, I spoke the language, but it was SCARY AS HECK! I just followed everyone to the lunch hall (I had NO IDEA where it was!) and tried to survive. The whole rest of the week, I just went to class, practically RAN to the next one, and when lunch came around, I just ate as fast as I could and ran to my next class. I was so stressed that my hands actually started to shake uncontrollably (I could still write and stuff, but they still were shaking pretty bad) and I couldn't sleep at night. You know what helped? When I started making friends. Then my hands stopped shaking and I could sleep at night. I'll never forget that week, no sir-ee bob. *shakes head*

My parents are aetheist (sp?). My father is OK with it, but my mom verbally dislikes Christianity. My parents stuck me in a Lutheran school when I was in 4th grade because my public school 3rd grade teacher said that girls don't need to know math. :animeangr My parents' reasoning was that they had gone to a Lutheran school when they were kids. Now this is in Finland where the schools teach the Lutheran religion (it is the religion of Finland). During my time at my grade school, I thought that just saying you believed was enough, so I never really acted on it. I was "religious" until I was a Junior in High School. (I go to a Lutheran High school too..). When I was a Junior, I was angry at my parents, angry at the world, and angry at God that He deserted me. I then was lent a book about martyrs. I read it and I wondered "HOW could they be actually OK with dying? They were almost... happy. I then started asking questions. I read the Bible, I read a certain devotion book, and my questions were answered. I then made a deal with God. (since I was a foreign exchange student) I told Him, if you REALLY want me to believe, now I meant all or nothing, bring my dad here *insert country here* . Guess what? He did. I then realized that it was real. I had physical proof that God was there, and He cared for me. I then became a real Christian. Yes, I haven't been a very GOOD christian lately (I have such a potty-mouth! :animeswea ), but I'm trying to keep up my end of the deal. There also where some other out-of-body experiences, but I won't bore you with my stories. ;)

Writing Warning! This thread contains unmarked spoilers!: Harry Potter, Book 6.
Minako replied to Sandy's topic in Creative Works
First off, I'd like to thank Syk3 and Queen Azuka for pointing out the positive aspects of the book, instead of the negative ones I've been reading. And Thank you Shinmaru for backing up your thoughts! I loved the book!
I loved the fact that they showed that Malfoy was a Death Eater straight away! The scene in the cloak shop was great! I also liked the fact that Miss Rowling brought up the Snape-being-a-Death-Eater-thing with the meeting with Narcissa Malfoy and her sister, Bellatrix. However, I thought the first chapter felt a little out of place. It just told you the relationship between the Muggle and the Wisarding worlds, and I guess it told you that there was a new Minister of Magic. To be honest, i thought that chapter was boring. As for the romance thing, I liked it! It showed that on top of all the gloom and doom involving Voldemort, Harry and the gang are normal kids. They deal with romance too! Now tell me, who HASN'T gone through the same thing when they were 16?? I also loved the fact that Harry hooked up with Ginny. I loved the fight in his head about her. (she's ron's sister! So what? But Ron's my best mate!..etc.) I always thought that Harry would end up with (if not marrying) someone by the end of the series. Didn't his own father hook up with one of his classmates? With that last scene, that Harry (tried to at least) broke up with Ginny, it was so obvious (to me at least) that Ginny wasn't going anywhere without him. She said that she understood that he wouldn't rest until Voldemort was dead, and she accepted that. Ginny's going to play a big role in Book 7, I believe. AND I hope the Ron+Hermione thing keeps going in Book 7. As for the Half Blood Prince deal, when Hermione brought up that Prince girl, I thought, So what? It can't be her, moving on.. I loved the fact that Snape just yelled in Harry's face, "I'M THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE!!" When Dumbledore died, I was shocked! He played such a major role in this book, like actually BEING THERE for Harry, unlike in OoP. I loved the lessons diving into Tom Riddle's past and the discovery of the Horcruxes. I still couldn't believe it at the end! Though, I like how Harry discovered that he wasn't going to be protected anymore. He's a man, and he has to face Voldmort on his own. Yeah, Hermione, Ron, and the gang are going to help him, but Harry's got to be the one to "do the deed." I also was deeply dissapointed that the locket was a fake!
All in all, I enjoyed this book, and I was hooked from the beginning! I didn't even want to eat dinner because I was so hooked. I admit, I might have read it too fast, BUT I already have another book on hold, and then I'll read HBP over. And I'll read it thoroughly this time. I still enjoyed it IMMENSELY and I can't wait for Book 7! :D -
The weirdest thing I've ever eaten is mämmi. It's made from rye flour and some other stuff and it's from Finland, eaten at Easter. It literally looks like something you'd find in your toilet. It's brown and icky-looking, but it's good! Just put a little cream and sugar on it! Yummy! Sushi's another one, but sushi is just great!

Sage, you're a sweetie! :D I think one of the reasons that people make assumptions about others (such as the Muslims for example), is lack of knowledge. Since I'm not from the US, people just assume that I'm stupid. Even though, I have NO ACCENT WHATSOEVER, and I get top marks in school. When 9/11 happened, I didn't make assumptions like that. It was just a select few who attacked NY. Not every Muslim is evil, like some people assume. Back to the topic of this thread, the London attacks, I must say that I am quite amazed at the British people. Like one new source said, at first they were afraid, but they rose to the challenge of helping the injured, and were generally calm. (not an exact quote, mind you..) The big thing that got me was, they didn't panic. They didn't run around like chickens with their heads cut off. For that, I applaude you. *claps hands* Go England.
-
My cousin was on one of those trains that got bombed, but fortunately, she wasn't injured. I never thought that London would get attacked. I literally, was horrified when I saw on the news that those bombs went off. That bus that was split in two really scared me. Were there people in the top level? Just yesterday (or was it the day before? I forget) All of England was celebrating the 2012 Olympics being hosted in London, and then, boom. (literally) I still cannot understand how these Al Quaida people would hurt innocent people just to grab our attention! 37 people died. That means that they're not coming back. *sigh* I also can't believe that the States decided to raise the color thingy. (I don't even know what it is!) Anywho, when Madrid got bombed last year(?) they didn't raise the color then! (correct me if I'm wrong..) grr. I don't understand the US government..

I was enlightened to myOtaku.com by way of Lore (Sara). Being the total n00b that I was, I thought "W007! An anime site! Dat is 2 awesome!" (Sara even told me that I was the proverbial n00b, but there aren't any proverbs about n00bs) I then changed my ways and vowed to write like a SANE person. I then found the OtakuBoards link and I thought the same thing as above, but insert FORUM in place of SITE. I was then called Inuyashafan418 and I got bored with it when every single Inuyasha fan pm'd me, so I changed my name to Minako. It was a name of a character I used to have, but I like it anyway. It also was a silent dare to true otakus if they knew that
Minako is the Japanese name for Sailor Venus from Sailor Moon.
Only three people have figured it out. ;) I'm getting off track here. I truly enjoy Otakuboards because the mods are very strict against short posts and the quality of posts. I eventually went to other forums and was dissapointed how...well...STUPID some of these posts were. feh. Good Job OB.

What;s the most funnist thing you have ever seen?
Minako replied to WhiteAoiFox's topic in General Discussion
Oh MAN! I have some funny things happen to me and/or my friends! One day, in P.E., me and my friend were REALLY hyper and we were changing at the beginning of class. So, my friend pulls her shirt over her head so that only her face was showing, and waved her arms in the air yelling, "NYAAH!" We were preparing for our school play (Lore may remember this one), in which I played a motherly figure. The make-up people decided to give me bright. red. lipstick. As I was getting my make-up checked (so that it looks right with the lights and all) our director said, "You might want to change your lipstick because you look like a streetwalker." *insert moment of information processing* then I yelled for all to hear, "DID YOU JUST CALL ME A PROSTITUTE????" Whooo nelly, those were some good times. *wipes tears of laughter from eyes* -
As I was cooking up my latest storyline for my manga (it changes regularly, but I like this one), I'm looking for information on Shinto Priestesses and/or Miko. In order for you guys to give me helpful information, I should probably explain WHY I need this information. My character (yet to be named) was about to become a Priestess or a Miko (haven't decided which yet..probably priestess) when her (then) boyfriend brutally murders her family and almost kills her, at. the. shrine. So in this, I have a few questions: Is there an induction ceremony for priestesses/miko? How do they become priestesses/mikos? What are the differences between a priestess and a miko? Could you guys give me some links to some pictures of the outfit they wear? (the red and white one) I did a research paper a few years ago about Shinto, but if you could give me some useful hints on Shrines and everyday goings on that would be great. Thanks a lot! Arigatou!

Oh. My. God. That is just SICK! I'm a Christian, and that is NOT a Christian thing to do! That's borderline CULT activity! The one part where
they're not allowed to SPEAK or COMMUNICATE "verbally, or by handsignals, or by eye contact" to ANYONE! They're supposed to be totally SILENT and can only WRITE something when ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!
This is an outrage! I am personally APALLED at this. They are basically, brainwashing these poor kids into becoming "straight." They are RUINING the already poor reputation of Christians. I can't believe that his parents have the NERVE to send him to a camp like this. They're not even allowed to go to school unless they're homeschooled! It makes me wonder what this world is coming to. (Sorry for all the words in Caps. This just sickens me.)

Deja Vu happens to me every so often, but I HAVE gotten a weird feeling once... I was at work (a doggy daycare... :animeswea ) and this dog came up to me and I got a really BAD feeling about it. I just couldn't like it. I then found out later that the dog in question has bitten other workers. I thought that was REALLY freaky... That is for me.

I LOVE my yearbook! Some entries were: "Life is like a garden, dig it." "=) stupid smileys."
-
I graduate next year and I'm kind of... I don't know...freaked out. For those few people who know me, I've been a foreign exchange student and I just got back to the states a few weeks ago. It was hard enough to leave everything behind here for a year, but this is going to be a lot LONGER than a year! [College I mean] Yes, I'm excited because I will get to spend my last year in high school with great friends and great teachers (although my schedule isn't that nice..), and I know that I'm not going to care about what others think (not that I did that much anyway). When people ask me how it feels to be a senior, I say "I don't want to think about that yet." I have to worry about scholarships, college applications, work, driver's license (no I still don't have it yet), play practice, violin, etc. That's a lot to put on a 17 year old! (I turn 18 in April) In a nutshell, it's kind of a mix of fear and excitement for me.
