Δ-Aqua Capital Mac Anu Everyone's appropriately sullen mood did not serve to lighten Kia's thoughts as the silence that she had been hoping would clear after Kayla's ponderings dragged on for the better part of ten minutes. What am I doing here? she asked herself for the millionth time. She sighed hopelessly, with the unintended effect that Sora turned to her, probably itching for an escape from the choking silence. "What's up, Kia?" He asked loudly, with the intended effect that everyone on the boat turned their head to Kia simultaniously. Creepy. Kia took a deep breath. There wasn't much of a way to say something like this without tearing yourself apart. "Guys..." Kia said in a weak, defeated voice, "I...I can't do this anymore. I'm scared...scared of what could happen. Every time we fight the phases, I almost die. I can't keep getting lucky forever. One of these days they're gonna get me. I don't wanna be a hinderance to you guys anymore. I'll help you defeat Macha, but after that...I'm done. I'm sorry." Kia closed her eyes and braced herself for the onslaught of shouting that would come. But all there was was that deafening silence again. Finally, Sora stood up and got ready to start shouting something, but Kayla silenced him with a threatening finger pointed at his direction. "It's okay, Kia. We understand." Kayla said these five simple words with a profound calmness that tore Kia in half. There was no way she'd be able to live with herself after abandoning them in the middle of the 'war'. Ω-Endless-Eternal-Love song. Tell the others. -Helba Well, I guess it's time to wrap this up, Kia thought to herself, looking down at the wooden floor of the boat. "Umm...I'll see you guys in a little bit. I gotta go check something." Kia jumped lightly off the boat and walked slowly to the chaos gate, mumbling the Field where her last fight would take place. OOC: Hehehe...party time! As long as we don't actually get to the fight within the next post, do whatever you want. Just remember; Kia wants to stay alone. Doesn't mean she has to, but she does have an attitude problem. :catgirl:

It's tough, 'cause I really like a bunch of songs from DDR. It's probably a toss-up between Dive (Be For U), Firefly (again, Be For U), Pink Rose (Can't remember the group), and Love Love Sugar (DJ Taka). Don't ask about the Love Love Sugar on that list. I like quirky songs.

:animecry: I didn't get in?! I'm sad, Goddess! Na, I'm just kidding. There were plenty of other sign-ups that were more worthy, anywho. I guess all I have to say is, good luck, everyone that made it in! :catgirl: with absolutely no ill will whatsoever, -Neko

Ten bucks* says either Albedo or Sephiroth win the competition. Another ten* says that even if the prevailing character isn't Albedo or Sephiroth, his/her hair color will invariably be silver. Any takers? :catgirl: *Please note that Neko will not fulfill this bet if Neko loses, because Neko lacks the funds to do so! :animeswea

Wow...A fellow Legend of Dragoon fan and another Zone of the Enders fan? In one thread?! I'm in heaven! ...Oh, yeah, nominations. Right. Well, here's my three: 1. Viola (Zone of the Enders/Zone of the Enders: the Second Runner) - While I'll admit that Nohman was quite the 3vil one in the Z.O.E. series, he still plays second fiddle in my eyes to Viola, the Queen B...the Queen you-know-what of the solar system. Second only to Nohman himself in skills, Viola was the most dangerous, most skilled pilot known to man. He story was ended prematurely by that whiney wuss Leo in the first game, but she came back in another (even more deadly) form in the second game. All in count, you have to fight this bloodthirsty pilot seven times throughout the series. 2. Albedo (Xenosaga episode I/Xenosaga episode II) - This guy obviously graduated from the prestigious University of Evil Psychopaths. He's practically immortal due to his regenerative powers, obsessed with killing robots that look like eight-year-old girls, and practically takes pleasure in being injured. Seriously. There's a part in the first game where he
kidnaps MOMO, one of the characters that form your party, pretends to be her father, then rips his own freakin' head off, and laughs maniacally as he grows a new one
! This insanity, combined with the fact that he has so many backups for every one of his plans that you probably couldn't assign a letter to all of them, makes Albedo a truly evil Villain. 3. Virgil (Devil May Cry 3) - Another silver-haired badass, Virgil is the stereotypical evil twin brother whose powers far surpass the main characters own. However, this stereotype doesn't take away from the storyline simply because of how well he fulfills his role. His style of fighting is masterful, as well. At one point in a heated swordfight, Dante (your character) withdraws for a moment to fire six shots at Virgil from his two handguns. Virgil doesn't dodge aside with his lightning reflexes, but instead, whirls his katana in a vortex, sucking the bullets into the spinning path of the blade, and proceeds in a very cool cutscene to fire them back at Dante with his sword. My nominees are all shown in their glory in the attachments below, in left to right order: Viola, Albedo, Virgil. Have fun.

Ooh! Ooh! I have a question! How are our characters actually gonna get to Earth? I'm thinking we just start there, but I wanna be prepared if we're gonna start in a different way. Oh, and by the way, do we have to be particularly 'loyal' to whatever 'side' we're on? Just a random question...(yeah, right, Neko.) :catgirl:

Wow, it sure has been a while! But I just recently finished some new banners n' stuff. This is teh first one, featuring Miho Tohya from Megatokyo. Note that it's the one I'm currently using, and has a matching avatar. This is my new style. It features the two adventures I'm currently in in the Arena, .hack//TRUTH and the Mechanical Angel (Still in teh inn). If I could be put in an anime, I'd want to be put into Yu-Gi-Oh!, so I could show those idiots what the real rules to the game are. And then own them. Well, actually, I'd prefer to be put in .hack//SIGN or TWILIGHT, because I just really, really like .hack, and was really disappointed that the games stuck me with a Twin Blade.

Personally, I like playing as either Talim, Ivy, Voldo, or Nightmare. I'll explain why. Talim - She's wicked fast, to a point where she can literally run circles around bigger, slower characters like Nightmare or Astaroth (although I cannot recommend doing so in battle x.x). Don't underestimate those tiny little wrist-blades; they hurt like none other. I've also noticed that some characters have attacks that carry themselves straight over her head, so she's automatically immune to some attacks from people like Astaroth and Necrid. Ivy - She's got range to be matched only by Link, and I don't own a Gamecube. Her various stances can be fluidly chained together to perform an amazing variety of combos. Then there's the satisfaction of actually pulling off one of her two insanely long 'special' moves - and the subsequential damage it deals. The fact that you almost automatically begin a match with a quarter-health-bar advantage due to her 'poke' attack right in the biginning, which is surprisingly difficult to counter, despite how obvious an attack it seems, isn't that bad either. Voldo - Because he's fun. Most people will tend to win because they manage to get their opponent in a sort of lockdown on the floor. Can't do that against Voldo; he spends over half the match on the floor anyways! It's surprising how much people have to change their fighting style to adapt to fighting a character that's actually stronger when he's laying down. This, combined with the fact that he's got, like, fourteen stances, all of which he changes in and out of more often than some people blink, brings his combo factor to the closest to 'infinite' that you're gonna get in this game. Nightmare - He's Nightmare. While that right there should explain everything, there's no harm in going over it again. First off: the Ow factor. Nothing lays a smackdown on your opponent quite like a face full of Soul Edge. That combined with nearly infinite combo potential lays waste to most opponents within ten seconds. Secondly: He's way, way faster than should be legal for a 'heavyweight' fighter. Lastly, the coolness factor. I have literally won games against humans opponents using Nightmare's sheer coolness, by just running at them. They just ran away and, consequentially, ringed themselves out. Note that this strategy only works while you are using the default costume. Yeah, it's just that damn amazing. The only problem I ever have is against Maxi, due to his quirky, here-and-there fighting style. And does anyone besides me have any respect for Assassin?!

Name: Inhert Age: 18 1/2 Gender: Neutral (Appears male) Species: Fallen Angel Appearance: Look Down. This is actually his true form. In his more 'human' form, he loses his wings and dons a trench coat that is, oddly, but appropriately enough, crimson red. Side: Hell Power: He uses the powers of blood magic in the form of a strange, twisted necromancy. There are various symbols lovingly etched into his palms to aid this obscure form of arcane magic. He also has his most beloved possession, his dagger, as what could be considered a weapon, but so far, this dagger has drawn more blood from him than anyone else. As of yet, he hasn't developed any powers based on his heritage beyond the ability to fly. Having wings that are still full and white may prove to have more uses than just this, because he could easily be mistaken for an angel. Which is convenient, because he doesn't particularly enjoy fighting if it can be avoided. Personality: Inhert is a little strange even for a sentient life-form, let alone a fallen angel. Being extremely young for what he is, he doesn't possess much knowledge of the great war, nor is he particularly interested in learning. He is morbidly fascinated with blood - his or others - and won't hesitate for a moment to demonstrate this if someone happens to be watching him. He's quite the outgoing person, despite all this. If, for some reason, he manages to remain with someone for over thirty seconds (he lacks anything even resembling an attention span), he comes off as a cheerful guy, if admittedly one with a somewhat fatalistic sense of humor. In battle, however, he completely changes. He becomes bloodthirsty, crazed by his obsession with the crimson liquid. The knowledge that he is a fallen angel - and thus immortal - doesn't help this much, as he will gladly take an occasional hit just for the pleasure he derives from watching the blood. Biography: The history of Inhert isn't a very long one; he is, after all, quite young. He, like so many others, was born of the firy pits of Hell, and was shortly thereafter recruited into the dark legions of Lucifer. He isn't exactly sure how he got into the dark army, seeing as how he hates fighting, and actually enjoys human company (if the position weren't already taken, he'd be the official Fallen Angel of Lust). So, why then would he be one of the demons chosen to carry out such a mission as finding this strange Azrael person? Inhert was thoroughly confused when he was filled in on the matter. How could an Angel, that was reputedly God's most prized being, be of any help to Hell? Perhaps Inhert might have known more about the situation if he hadn't told the demon giving him this mission to "Shut up and get to the important part". Oh, well. The only real reason Inhert even accepted this mission was that it was a good excuse to slip into the human realm. Inhert enjoys being around humans, particularly females, but up until he was summoned up to join the search, he had had no chance to even cross planes into the human realm. If he just happened to be 'helping the cause', then so much the better. After all, if he was the one that found and returned this 'Azrael' person, he could easily ask to remain in the human realm as his reward. At least, that's his idea. Not to sound like a copycat or anything, but I hope that's an acceptable sign-up!

Δ-Aqua Capital Mac Anu Perhaps it was the calm, peaceful atmosphere of the quiet city. Perhaps it was the warm, gentle breeze blowing softly through the canals. Perhaps it was the gentle swaying motion of the boat as it floated down the passageway. Whatever it was, Kia had dozed off roughly forty seconds after sending her message to the others. Crack. "Owww..." Kia groaned as her eyes snapped open. She rubbed the back of her head painfully as she gave Kayla a glare that would set the fear of the more violent gods into most men. "What was that for?!" Kayla smiled one of those big, disgustingly happy smiles, waving her staff slightly. "Well, you said in your mail to hit you if you weren't awake, you know..." This got a laugh out of Sora, who had arrived shortly after Elk and Kite, who followed Sakura to the boat. Kia frowned. "Well, one, I didn't mean 'with a weapon', and two, I said 'not too hard'. How long have you all been here?" she asked. "Oh, about ten minutes ago, I'd say," Sora laughed. "We all decided to let you wake up on your own, but, well, Sakura here, she got tired of waiting, and told Kayla to-OWWW!" Sakura shot him a deadly look, and whispered something inaudible into his ear, and Sora stopped talking. Immediately. Seemingly satisfied, Sakura turned to face Kia with a dull expression, never releasing her hold on Sora's arm, which looked twisted - and rather painfully - behind his back. "I didn't tell Kayla to do anything," she said flatly, and not terribly convincingly, either. Kia decided that there were some things she wasn't entirely interested in knowing the truth about. "Well, whatever. How did you guys' search go?" she asked, tilting her head to one side. She managed to be only slightly discouraged when she got negative answers from everyone, including Sora, who had a look on his face that made it obvious that he had managed to find something more 'important' to do with his time. "I did, however, have something I was hoping to talk to you guys about," Kayla said after a moment of uneasy silence. In that moment, Kia thought she saw that distrusting look in Kayla's eyes again, but it was gone so fast that she decided that she must be getting paranoid. In the meantime, the rest of the group had gone silent. "Well, please....do tell us, Kayla," Kia said quietly. "We're all ears." Okay, never again will I try to do funny. It saves us all a lot of time and trouble. Oh, and sorry about the *****. I'm gonna chalk that up to me going totally braindead for a second there. Pay it no mind.

A dark figure walked slowly through the rain, seemingly oblivious to the weather. Her crimson eyes stared off into nothingness, never blinking. Suddenly, she stopped, sensing some unseen force. A purple-black hued dragon, a mere twelve feet in length, swooped down in front of her, seemingly out of nowhere. It spoke directly into her mind. You're late, Mieruru. Mieruru nodded her head slowly, as if in a trance. I'm sorry, Syn, she thought to the dragon, I had a long way to come. The large reptile nodded just perceptably, as if in acceptance. I forgive you. Now, listen. I sense others like me nearby. Mieruru's eyes widened. Other dragons? 'Syn' nodded again. Yes, other dragons. I want you to go see them for me. I need to know if any of them posses the same powers as I do. Mieruru gasped, trembling in her gown, and not from the cold touch of the rain, either. Find them? ME? But...but I...what if they're hostile? What if they try to hurt- Mieruru froze mid-thought as Syn clamped down on her mind with a burst of psychic energy. Do not defy me, child. Do my bidding, go to them, study them. NOW! Mieruru nodded shakily, turning around against her will. Yes...master... she thought, unable to control herself. She walked slowly towards the building the others were in, her own pet's puppet. Obviously, Mieruru's relationship with her dragon is something of a love-hate deal. This is my entry into the story, and is taking place "meanwhile", as RiflesAtRecess said.

Name: Mieruru (Last name unknown). Age: Looks about 16, true age unknown. Gender: Female. Personality: She's a dark, mysterious, crazed little girl that loves to speak using strange metaphores. Appearance: Attachment. City: Home Town: Nerull, though she can seldom be found there. Weapon: Claw-like gloves she always wears. Bio: Mieruru wasn't always insane. Her life could be considered something of a tragedy, the events of it drove her into her madness. Her parents died shortly after her fourth birthday, leaving her in the care of her two older brothers. The three children were always close to each-other, the last of a dying family. One day, the eldest brother found a nest of dragon eggs, and brought three of them back from his exploration. The eggs hatched, the dragons matured rapidly. Mieruru was never aware of the different sub-types of dragons until her eldest brother's dragon lit a field on fire, and the other brother's dragon froze the field over to contain the blaze. And yet, Mieruru's dragon never showed any signs of special power. Until one night. When she was out stargazing with her 'pet', her brothers decided to play a prank on her dragon. The eldest brother's dragon knocked Mieruru's dragon over. Mieruru felt a strange presence in her mind, an all-consuming rage threatening to burn her to ashes from the inside. Her dragon, 'Syn', as it was called, took control of her mind. She watched, helplessly, as she killed her brothers with her own hands, that night. So, from that event stems her insanity. the image of her killing her own brothers, by the will of Syn, is burned into the back of her mind for all eternity. Name: Syn Gender: Male Type: Psychic. Appearance: See attachment.

Thanks for the advice, Retribution! I tried making a banner for me this morning, and this is the turnout. If this is any better, I'll know I'm on the right track.

Hewwo, everyone! I'm really, really bored right now, so I've elected, by a democratic vote of ninety-nine brain cells to one, to start doing banners during my free time again. That being said, I'd like to introduce my first two banners in this thread. They should (hopefully) be attatched as thumbnails. Please rate them as you see fit, on a scale of one to ten, with a good reason to back your compliments/criticism. Oh, and I have no idea how the text got all 3-D-ish...that was most definitely not supposed to happen. :catgirl:

OOC- Wow, I understood, like, three words out of all that. Congratulations! Kia tilted her head ever so slightly, trying to at least pretend she had an inkling of what Kayla had just said. Sora, apparently, could relate. He came up and tapped her shoulder, whispering while he thought nobody was looking. "Erm...did you actually get any of that?" He asked in a slightly shaky voice. Kia shook her head just perceptably, looking perplexed herself. Sora sighed in relief. "Oh, good...I'm not alone, then." Crack. "I heard that," Kayla said airily, waving her staff menacingly. Sora rubbed his head in a rather convincing imitation of the pain of someone who has just been hit over the head by a relatively large staff. Sora mumbled something extremely rude, and was rewarded again with another swift knock to the cranium. "so, what you're saying..." Kia spoke up suddenly, clearing her voice, "...is that we shouldn't worry if Mia suddenly disappeared. yet." Kayla nodded, obviously pleased that someone, at least, seemed to get what she was saying. Kia didn't but that was alright, because lucky guess or not, she had pretty much 'hit the mark', or so they say. "But we'll know something's wrong if she doesn't log back on within the next...half hour, shall we say?" Kayla replied brightly. Everyone nodded in agreement, and decided to meet in the alley of Mac Anu in a half hour if nobody could find Mia. And with that, the group scattered. Kia decided to take charge of searching Mac Anu, since 'she was the most familiar with the place'. (The real reason was that she was kinda scared of the high-level players in other servers, but she didn't figure that would fly too well with the others) So, after all the others decided where else to look, and left on the search, she began to look all over Mac Anu for some sign of Mia. I wonder how Elk is feeling about all this... Kia thought, the image of Elk's seemingly eternally depressed face popping into her mind. It was no great secret that he liked Mia. Kia frowned. She would find Mia. For Elk. Half an hour later... Kia slammed her fist against the rock wall, which had the opposite effect as intended, in that it hurt her fist more than it hurt the wall. "Where the hell is she?!" she shouted, getting some odd glances from some players nearby. Kia had been spending the past half-hour tearing through every street, shop, and canal of Mac Anu looking for Mia with a rather persistant stroke of utter non-success. In short, she had failed. Miserably. Remembering the meeting, she stepped into one of the boats in the canal, one of the empty ones. She yawned, stretching back, a wave of indifference coming across her, suddenly. To: Kayla, Sakura, Sora,
*****
, Elk, Kite From: Kia Subject: No luck... I've searched all over Mac Anu, and I got nada. It's been a half hour, and we agreed that if nobody found her in a half hour, something was going on. You guys find anything? I'll be in one of the boats in Mac Anu. If I'm sleeping when you get here, hit me, or something. Not too hard!

While I myeslf am blissfully uninterested in the idea of a Romeo and Juliet Roleplay, I believe Kiba has a point to defend here. The story, apparently, is set in the year 2500. (I highly doubt people would still be using 'old english' during that time period, I'll keep my thoughts to myself in that regard) Do you not suppose, then, that while the storyline could, admittedly, be rather obvious, the events leading up to the eventual conclusion could be quite different? I do! The only reason I will not sign up for this Roleplay is that I was utterly unimpressed by the origional piece of work by Shakespear himself. Adieu! -Neko

Okay, everybody. Seeing as how the first two people on the list have dropped out, I'm officially opening the next few posts to anybody that wants 'em. Sorry to have kept you all waiting. The other rule, to limit total posts here two three a day, still applies, though. Have fun!

Alright, you're in, silverwolf. Nice job, thanks for PMing me first with the sign-up. Just so everyone knows, These sign-ups are now officially closed. Thanks for signing up, everyone!

*Whispering* I hope nobody noticed that this story came out a day late... Another day, another demise. The news had long since ceased to surprise people. Mysterious deaths all over town, with not even a single trace of a murder weapon, nor, in fact, any trace of a murderer. After the first few weeks, the weary population of the city of Utoma began to accept this strange problem. The media dropped it, the church fanatics stopped seeing significance in it, even the families of the unfortunate victims weren't taking the losses as harshly as they had been. But now, something's beginning to change. At first the deaths seemed completely random, the crime scenes not terribly violent. Something new is happening, though. Each night, the scene is becoming more and more grotesque, the method of the kill more and more macabre, more brutal. And there is another thing, too. Near each body, perhaps within fifty or so yards, a sign is being written in the victims' blood: a number. What does the number mean? Nobody knows for certain. It started at one-hundred-twenty. And each night, each death, the number is slowly counting downward, a sadistic timer...but to what? The people were so perplexed they eventually chalked it up to coordinated suicide, people picking up on a death 'trend' as a way to take their own life. How terribly wrong they were... A youthful female figure peered out cautiously into the graveyard from the wind-rattled tree, scoping out her prey; a young man, perhaps in his early twenties, coming to pay his respects to some lost relative. And who is going to be mourning for you, I wonder? she thought to herself, her luminous crimson eyes glinting eerily in the glorious moonlight. In the time one might blink, the girl was on the ground, soundlessly closing in on the man as he knelt before a grave. With a heart-piercing scream, the man looked on in horror as a razor-sharp claw tore clear through his body. The girl smirked as the man slumped over on the gravestone in front of her. Collecting some of the leaking blood on her hand, she walked over to a burial tomb, and, drawing her fingers quickly across the hard marble of the door, she left her mark. And then she was gone. Just like that, no movement, just gone. But the crimson mark remained on the doorway, glimmering in the moonlight. One-hundred-one. Okay, the story's officially up. Everyone that signed up is in, but I've decided since there are so many people in the story, can we limit it to one or two people posting per day? Someof us don't get to a computer every day, and I've been in past stories with half this many people in them that got all messed up 'cause they had, like, six posts a day to read. So try to take notice in when things are being posted so we don't get swamped. And let's try to give everybody a 'turn' to post. Thanks! -Neko

Alright everyone, nice to see so many humans in on this! I trust it is apparent that the story didn't go up on Friday. Well, I got lazy for a minute, and it ended up being delayed. The story will be up today, because I'm staying in the library for lunch. Catch you all later!
-
Okay, you're both in too, nice job! And as for the time period, yeah, I wasn't thinking like Star Wars futuristic. Just, you know, a kind of neo-modern city. Maybe...2040? You know, advances in medical sciences, figured out a cure for cancer and whatnot. I was just throwing that on the board to make sure nobody went blundering in with a medievil person with some stone-aged weapon. ^.^ I'll have an edit in this post with the updated "in" list, this time hopefully with no huge blank space...
-
Very nice, Kieko. You're in. So is everyone else, so here's the deal. This adventure goes up on Friday morning, with or without anyone else signed up. I think two angels and three demons should be fair enough for now...(in a past adventure I did, it eventually came down to eight angels against two demons...that didn't work out too well) Oh, and sorry about this huge blank space right here, something funky happened to my coding. Name Race (Subrace) Character Name Lord Revan Angel (Archangel) Michael Neko Demon (Succubus) Mieruru Anaka Kiba_the_Chosen Demon (Shadowmancer) Tetra elementalshadow Demon (Vampire) Tearanie alchemist2120 Demon (Unborn) Xion Kieko Angel (Aurablade) Mina Alright, now we've just got one thing left to clear up: The timeline. What era does this adventure take place in? I was actually going for a kind of slightly futuristic setting, but if anyone has any objections, the subject is open for debate.
