Being in a special education class, mal-funding within the school board is always a large issue (especially since all those un-informed people out there don't understand the purpose of it, and therefore deem it a waste of money and time). Thanks to the Tories (who have finally been kicked out of the hot seat, to be replaced by the more, well, liberal Whigs [heehee...stupid jokes...]), our education system (not to mention countless other public services) is in tatters. More and more people are enrolling their children in private school. This is not a good thing. I wont go into the longterm faults but I'll say this: Huge numbers of immigrants keep, well, immigrating. Most of them experience low incomes for years. We need a good public system. The worst part is that, within the school, the money seems to be being spent in all the wrong places. Instead of replacing the 30-year-old (I'm serious here.) text-books, the school chooses to squander its money on sports equipment. (Believe me, it's squandered--FIFTY DOLLAR FRIZBIES?!) Curses.

Only a fool would take anything they read in a newspaper or heard on television at face value: every educated person over the age of five ought to know that the media is anything but un-biased. Something that few people seem to realize is how hard most politicians do work. To be at a high position within the government takes an enormous amount of your time: you basically give up your own life for the benefit of the country. It is a crooked few who totally screw up this image. To elaborate on my first point, only a fool will take news from only one source. Par example if you were to read a story in the Toronto Star, then watch it on CNN, then read it in the Post, you'd get a much better idea of what was going on than if you settled for just one source. (or you could do the smart thing and just read the Globe and the Star...) As long as you're aware that everything is a business, you'll do okay.

Where's the shame in loving stuffed animals? >:^O I have a stuffed bear that you will never, in a million years, learn the name of (_ _U) that I've had since I was a week old. *shrug* I also have a shelf full of Beanie Babies, though I haven't added to the collection since they brought out the craptacular "new" line. Hmph. The black widow is probably my favourite...>_> I really can't think of any "secret/embarrassing/both indulgences" I have, as I'm geeky enough from the start.

Haha--you so wont believe me, but I was thinking something along the lines of that, too.
I was wondering about the pill thing, and why they didn't "die" after injesting all those fumes and drugs. O_o" Is it just me, or did the guy who jumped in front of the train look like Maniwa?!
Bnooooo!

I took a test because I was bored, and it said "You belong in the series...BOOGIEPOP PHANTOM!!!" So, I started wondering what it would be like. Skippedry already stated (somewhere : / ) that it was quite similar to my beloved Paranoia Agent, so I'm almost certain I'd love this one. From what I've read here, BP utilizes interesting screen techniques--one gets bored of the same old pans and zooms after a while, so this should be neat...^^ And what book is this?? The title, if you please? If it's been mentioned before, and I missed it, my deepest appologies, but I'd like to know if it's been translated into English or if it was written in a language I understand to begin with...>_> I'd much rather read the book before watching the series, because I'm just like that. *wanders off to find some Boogiepop Phantom rips* : D

Just watched episode eight. Man...I have mixed feelings about it. It came out of nowhere.
Not only was Shounen Bat the only character we knew who was present (aside from Kazuko), but I simply wasn't expecting what happened to happen.
Talk about spontaneous. The old man's ramblings at the end are important, say you?! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME SOONER, DAMN YOU?!?!!!! *is all huffy*
I really didn't want to see Zebra or the other's die in that episode--I was sitting there thinking, "Hullo! You've got friends!" I also found myself disliking Fox more and more as the ep wore on. I think it was an interesting idea for the script-writers to play with--the part about Kamome (That's her name, right? Damn, my memory sucks right now..._ _U) being a little girl made me laugh, for obvious reasons.^^ Zebra's cool, don't you think? I was sort of surprised that no mention of Kamome's parents was made, though. I mean, what would you do if your eight-year-old suddenly dissapeared? o.o""
In regards to ep seven (workin' backwards today, are we, Godel?)...
I always liked Kazuko, and was rather upset to see him die. Maniwa and Shounen Bat (Sagi, too, I guess) are still my favourite characters, though.
(It's kind of funny--with a baseball cap on, PrincessGoneral looks JUST like SB!!!)^_^ Ah, **** you, Arvie. XP

The main problem I see with such leniant gun control laws is the fact that (as I have stated previously) they don't only affect the country in question. It is unbelievably easy to get between Canada and the US without having to go through customs. This is because of linked water-ways. Most guns used in crimes in Canada are illegaly brought in from the states. If both countries had stricter gun-control laws, both would benefit, as there wouldn't be anywhere to get guns from (well, much fewer places, anyway). As far as inflatable rafts go (o.o"), you carry those with you on a plane. Most people who own guns do not have them on their person at all times. The only time you'd really use one is if you were going hunting (which I don't really see the appeal of, though that's another debate_ _U) or if some one broke into your house. Or if you were planning on committing suicide, which should also be considered here... Teenagers who don't want to live any more, who know that their dad keeps his gun in the suck drawer, next to the condoms, would probably be better off without such a brutal option, no? If, idealy, police numbers could be increased and used more efficiently, criminals dealt with more effectively for gun-related crime and all those other ends were to be tied up, it would not hurt to keep guns out of sock drawers. I do believe there is a minimum ten-year sentence for crimes involving guns in place in Canada, currently. However, the per cent of gun-related crime has increased--about ten people were shot extremely near to where I live last year. To think I might have gone to school right across from that preffered shoot-out location...o_o And then there's always the issue of Joe here, who doesn't know which end of the gun the bullets come out of, or how to put on the safety...*sweat* Tu doit pardonez mon francais? Pour-quoi?^^ I mean, come on--it's a free country or whatever.^_~

Afer four episodes, I am tempted to add Trigun to the list. I'll give it that it's older and totally not my genre, but man. MAN. Talk about dull. A friend of mine is a huge Trigun buff (he hasn't seen much anime...>_>) and I promised him I'd watch the episodes he lent me, even though I've been doing so rather reluctantly. It's an interesting concept, if you're aiming for a spoof, but the deal gets old after a while. Though I do like Vash, Milly and What'shername's outfits (unusual--heh) to an extent, the voices the characters have been strapped with ruin just about everything. You could say high pitched women and squeaky men or you could say Trigun. The second one's faster. : / I've been told it picks up, but I'm still waiting...>_> The music isn't all that great, either. Bleh.

About the issue of police: The motto of police in most of North America is something along the lines of "To serve and protect." With the tightening of gun-regulation laws, there would also need to be the tightening of other laws. I figured this would be obvious. Police would have to be monitered more carefully, and with much less leniance, for one. As far as cars go...there is a difference between a weapon, made for the sole purpose of killing things, and a car. Cars were not designed to kill people, though they still do. Using a gun "properly" would mean you would be shooting people with it, n'est pas? And, in regards to Texas... Countries with tighter gun-control laws have very little gun-related crime. Is it not better to have a gunless populace than one in which every one carries a weapon, if the effects are almost even. It's regulated guns that six year olds bring into class to shoot their classmates in the head with. They find them on the top shelf of their parents' closets one day, and all Hell breaks loose. I understand owning a gun in a place like a northerly cottage, where police services and whatnot are kind of far off, and you have bears wandering around in the bush. It's unfair to bring Hitler into this: wouldn't a leader banning guns today do it in order to protect the populace, not kill half of it? Ignoring what the constittuion does or does not say, why do you think you shoudl be allowed to carry around a firearm? Enough of this "It was laid down by our forefathers" stuff--the times, they a' changing. Have changed.
-
If it wasn't so easy to get ahold of guns, there would be nowhere near as much crime involving them. It's a "No, DUH." kind of thing. Like, ya know? If every one carries a gun on their person, what good are police officers? The idea is that there are a number of people, who, ideally, work to protect the populous, and they alone are allowed to carry firearms. With all the school shootings (even in grade one classes!!), you'd think some people would be a little less up-tight about their "God-given right to bear arms." And it's not only in America that this causes problems. The flow of illegal guns into southern Canada is unbelievable. While American's (some of them : / ) ***** and moan about how senior citizens are smuggling medicinal drugs down south, across the border, they seem to be forgetting about the things that actually hurt people being shipped in the opposite direction (and, yes, I know these drugs can hurt people, but that's not why they're smuggled...>_>). Imagine if there hadn't been a rack of guns to steal. Would you "have to" sit with a .22 mm in your lap, then? And how the hell does allowing every Tom, Dick and Harriette to tote a pistol increase security?! O_o o_O""

Anime Which ANime Character do you dislike/ Like the Least
Godelsensei replied to Chocobo Gene's topic in Otaku Central
*ahem* I will ignore Azure-jiji's stupidity for now. *cough* The single character I hate the most? Let's think about this for a moment... *Jeopardy theme* Aha! I know! I'm afraid I'll have to agree with Skippedry. u_u Kagome has always, to be frank, pissed me off. She is irritating, whiney, ultra-dependant and the epitome of "the little schoolgirl." I don't mind if a female character is not necessarily as strong (physically) as a male character, as long as they make up for it with personality (Haruno Sakura, any one?). But what really irks me about Kagome is how boring she is. And I mean drop-dead-dull. No quirks (what's a character without quirks?! T_T), no disability (mental or physical), no interesting personality...just a stereotype. She's a goody-goody, sock-glue-toting, homework-doing, pink-bike-riding, sporty, popular little...thing. And, to make matters worse, she has some kind of Sacred Jewel Thing sealed up inside of her. Oh. And she's the reincarnation of an ancient priestess. There is simply no new material there. Inuyasha is entertaining (well, the earlier episodes, anyway), if not the best series ever created *cough*, and Miroku, Sango and Sesshoumaru's little troupe of freaks will always have a place in my heart (along with many, many other things). But the main character sucks. And I mean major suckage. (If you're gonna jump on me about the "main character" thing, I hate Inu, as well. u_u He's unoriginal.) Another character I simply don't like is Uchiha Sasuke, as he is just annoying. However, though he has an essence of typicallity (is that a word? prolly not, but hey! : D ), he is a personality, not a droid that's been used a bajillion times before, because it "works". : / Orochimaru's pretty narsty, as well...
what with his melting in the shower...O___o I did not need to see that.
I lost my appetite for a week after that chapter...-.-" -

As for Yomiko and Ms. Deep having shounen-ai connections? There's more hints to this in the second episode than any other in my opinion. Although, I'd rather assume that the two are just getting along like sisters! Gomen ne Dagger-dono. ^^
You know, that would be a funny concept, especially since they're both, you know, girls...*ahem* (Shounen-ai is *boys*.^_^) AAA!!! R.O.D.! How is it that I have not posted in this topic before?? I. Absolutely. Love. This. OAV. Every one loves it. Even those who arbitrarily hate anime as a general kind of thing love it (at least the ones I know...>_>)! The voice-acting is done almost flawlessly (I love Wendy's voice^^), and the characters themselves are original. I love how every one has unique quirks and eccentricities that just bring them to life. The animation is spectacular (_>)

1) Test or paper? You mean paper as in written? Well, I enjoy writing papers, so I don't cheat on those. If I was smart enough to cheat during tests, would I fail every single one the teachers throw at me?! >:^O (I cheat all the time with other homework, though...wont go into that...>_>) 2) Of course. 3) Hmm...my GPA. I tend to take in lessons as well as any one else, but I don't do the follow-up work, and I always freeze during tests. I remember everything as soon as I hand the paper in. So, if I can get good marks, and get into a decent University...*shrug* It's not like the grade I'm in now matters, as far as University goes. At all. >_>

"It's a girl fish...!" - Willow Ah, man, that was hilarious. Basically, we were trying to get my friend's brother's character (alignment chaotic/good O_o") to ingest, or at least touch, one of Princess Goneral's fish. (They're contaminated with unholy water, so Daniel was foolish to step on one. >:^D) "A sad place is a world where it takes a great deal of independance and rationalization to stop believing in something that has so much proving it to be false." - I have no idea Take a wild guess. I dare you. Does interesting graffiti count in this thread? I think it should. Nothing to live by, but funny, nonetheless... What the hell, you dickbag, why are you reading this, go suck my dick, you suck, ur a ******, motha fucka. - the floor in the math hallway O_o Melinda is a hoe!!!!! - this phrase stays with the pupils of the school I attend forever (it's on the back of the door of the one of five usable girls' washroom stalls at my school) Hi, kids! Bleeding today? Well, buy one of these!^_^ - the tampon dispenser (I laughed the first ten times I saw that.) Cut along the lines to KILL BILL!!!! *picture of a stick figure with dotted lines across him in various places* O_o Gravitation ----> is grood ----> and gay ------> as in homosexual -----> and if you don't read it -----> your gay. --------------------->as in homosexual - a desk in the geography room (Haha...)

Preston! Stop molesting the
main-character's rival's brother
!! >:^O Aaaa...Episode 80 owned. In every way... But I went off on that already. I can't wait to see what they make of the whole bit at the Candy Store! Huzzah! (If some one considers that to be a spoiler, tell me. I really don't think knowing that Konoha has a sweets shop is...spoilerific. I mean, how else would our favourite Shinobi save themselves from the depths of depression?! : O ) I still want to see Ten-Ten
do something!! ARGH. Such an undeniably cool character...going to waste!!! So far, anyway...>_>
And, I was RIGHT.
Tsunade did do something!!! She formed an alliance with the Sand, anew!
And you all said I was crazy. >:^ ) EDIT: You fella's notice that you guys and my devious self are all utilizing the wonders of grey? WAHAHAHA!!! I mean Mr. Preston and Arvie, as the three of us seem to be the main participants of this thread, at the moment. : / Just felt like making a point of that...>_>

I loved this episode. The animation was smoother than usual, and the characters looked older. I love the dark, grey-ish tones that were used: they definately capture the essance of the manga better than the bright, flashy, colours that are used most of the time. (That section of the manga, I mean...we all know that Naruto is all over the place when it comes to moods^_^) As most of the people who populate this thread know, I'm a huge fan of greyscale, so I was very happy. I think the use of no music whatsoever worked very well in some scenes, and that the presence of nothing but black and grey in the rain captured the mood brilliantly. The memorial scene was simply tear-jerking. T_T
RIP, Sarutobi, as irritating as you were.
As a side note: ARVIE, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!!

Vampires are...boring. Every take on them's been done. Good, bad, childlike, stoic...you could go on forever about types of vampires. There's only a certain degree of creativity you can achieve when dealing with something so painfully overused. : / I prefer witches, when it comes to that kind of thing (sort of different, but hey). And no offence to Chibbi and others...I mean stereotypical witches. XP

What the hell kind of thread is this?! *ahem* In life, I follow the basic principle of, "But, Mom, geeks don't do drugs!" I don't play sports, I don't pay attention in class, I don't do my homework, I don't pick fights, I don't ignore/insult people because every one else does, and I don't get in trouble. I don't think any one holds any grudges against me, but that isn't saying every one is my friend. I'm not "popular" by any twisted set of standards. Things that are not cool: -getting arrested -smoking or doing any other kind of non-medicinal drug (for non-medical reasons, in reference to the last subject mentioned) -revolving around grades -being serious about everything (or more than one or two things, for that matter) -trying to be the next Brian Warren @_@ -being any kind of bully I may be twelve years old, but most of my classmates are fourteen. I think I'm allowed to say that I, as a teenager, find most people's impressions of The Thing To Do a load of bullcrap.

Well, Arvie, there is a world of difference between kissing your girlfriend and sucking face in the middle of a public area for hours on end. (I can't stand when people do that at the movies. All you hear from behind or in front of you is suction-induced noises:totally ruins all of Aragorn's best lines!!! >:^O) My lunchbag says, "Protected by SSJ Goku" on it in big letters. A few guys were making fun of it (they're okay dudes, and I've got nothing against them, for the record), but I simply laughed with them. I don't really care if people shut themselves off from a great "genre" (it's too wide to really be called a "genre"), and instead tend to recomend they check out certain aspects of it. I mean, hey, two months ago William was mocking my lunchbag, and last Friday he was practically on his knees begging for titles to look into and where to download codecs. Heh.^^

How much do you pay to look good...
Godelsensei replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I buy all of my shirts (black, long, loose-fitting, t-shirts, all of 'em) for ten dollars at the most wonderful clothing store on the planet. (Actually, my last one came from the Art Gallery, but it's made by the same company and cost the same amount. : / ) My parents pay for most of my clothes, none of which cost anywhere over $30. Except for my shoes and ski-equipment, of course, but those are sort of on a different plain. I mean, buying cheap ski-pants results in a wet ***. And nobody likes that. I spend all my money on DVDs, manga, books, action-figures and posters. Who needs "style"? (Aside from socks, I mean. You can tell everything about a person from their socks. I wear mine mismatched: today the left one is black with traditional teddy-bears embroirdered in white, and the right one is speckled blue.^_^) -
I'm not sure how much feedback this will get, but I'll go for it anyway: During English class today, there sprung up a discussion about the leading factors of conflict on Earth. Some of the main ones included: -teritory -money -religion -misunderstanding You know, things like that. Anyway, we started discussing teritory, and a certain question was brought up. If all borders were to be eliminated, would the world continue to function as well or better than it does currently? I highly doubt that said actions (now don't go into why it woudn't happen, because we know it won't [any time soon, at least o.o"]) would be at all successful. If your aim was to get rid of conflict, and make all people equal, it goes without saying yoru goal would never be reached. Certain areas of the world would still be impoverished, others would be rich (in resources and educated populous, I mean). However, every one (ideally) would have the same amount of money. Every one would be entitled to the same rights and be subject to the same laws. One big communist country. o.o"" It goes without saying that communism leads to the empowering of a select number of individuals, leaving every one else mal-content, no matter how pure its original intentions were. So, that wouldn't work. But what if the world did not become communist? People would still want their own wealth. There's nothing that can be done for that. It might also drive people of specific groups (i.e. religious and ethnic) to re-enforce their respective stereotypes. After all, where else would we get our sense of individuality? People would find new ways to seperate themselves, forming unofficial "countries". It is a known and obvious fact that people of certain ethnic groups often move into the same area, and (for people around here, at least) that the bank's name is written in Chinese, with smaller English text to the left. Without any kind of place of origin to hold onto, these sort of things would probably be driven to the extreme. Anyway, as X-Men tells us, "Sharing the world has never been humanities defining trait. (My deepest appologies if I misquoted that._ _U) And these are only a scant few problems that would arise...

How Correct is Politically Correct?
Godelsensei replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
There are certain things that require political corectness. The rest is just a bunch of snooty people with brooms up their bums. Day-to-day, I do not go out of my way to prevent myself from saying terms such as, "white", "black" (in reference to race, of course), simply because they are accepted as inoffensive terms that describe some one's race. I describe myself as white, and black people describe themselves as black. Though it's usually seen as a negative conotation for whatever reason, alot of Asian people describe themselves as "yellow." As long as people have enough common sense and social skills to determine whether some one is insulting them or another group or describing some one's appearance based on phrases that every one understands, no one really cares. (Boy, that was one long-winded sentence, there. o.o"") But, when some one is something negative (you used the example "Dirty old man") I don't even see the reason for going out of your way to be polite. O_o I guess some people just like being anal about irrelevent things. As I see it, as long as you're respectful (meaning you don't use terms like "*****" or "******" or "Whitey", as they are derogatory), I'm "cool." (Apparently, Godel needs some vocabulary building. >_>) You see??? The censor even cut out ****** and *****!! Why?! Because THEY'RE OFFENSIVE. *gasp* (Good job, censor guys. *mark of approval*) -
Tres fraud, Dan. Tres, tres, fraud. : D (I just feel like some literal translations--don't mind me. : ) ) Incase you are an inadept when it comes to French, "Very cold, Dan. Very, very, cold." And incase you are an inadept at any form of deduction (Which I know you're not--I just feel like being irritating right now. : ) ), that's "Very cool etc..." ^_^ However, I think using the top right corner may get a little...confusing/irritating for some users (i.e. Godel..._ _U). Just saying... But, then again, I don't know where else you could put the pointer when using the mist symbol. Oh, and the dango... Best. Pointer. Ever.

I like what you've done wtih the text, as well, though the curviness of the main font is a little...well, I don't like curvy and curly fonts. Gomen ne...
