Sex and the City 2 is a great movie.
My mom and sister saw that at the German movie theater and they loved it. Been hearing good things, but I'd only go if my GF dragged me to the theater. Good thing she doesn't like that show, so I'm safe. CaNz's response sounds like the buzzards from "The Jungle Book" Buzzard 1: What do you want to do today? Buzzard 2: I dunno, what do you want today? Buzzard 1: Now don't start that again! Like my partner in crime Magus, I have never drank alcohol a day in my life. Personally, even the smell of it just gags me. I find that using it as a means of coping with stress may be an answer for some but in my experience those who use it that way hardly ever have their stress dealt with. If anything, alcohol only fuels the problems more. Whenever I'm stressed, I find that talking with close friends or with my girlfrirend usually does the trick and makes me feel a lot better. Not that I haven't had a lot of things to drink about these days. >>

It's a great movie, by the way, though not very factual.
Last I checked, Disney doesn't promote pedohilia.

My senior AP English teacher was a dingbat, plain and simple. She was new to the school and had transferred from some other school because the previous senior AP english teacher became the English Department advisor. So, we got dear Ms. Lawson. Her class had no structure to it and our discussions and assignments just seemed random as all get out. I felt I learned nothing from her class. Heck, when my Junior AP English teacher was giving out study sessions for her kids ( I loved having her class), I begged and pleaded her to give some sessions for us as well. Thanks to her, I got a great score on my Senior AP Lit exam and even re-took the Junior one and got a higher score. Awesome.

Nothing makes my day like someone asking, "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU WEARING A HOODIE AND SCARF?!" Around 80 degrees or so and since we live up in the hills, there isn't too much humidity to speak of. It makes it a nice day to go castle hunting or hiking. Wish I had a bike.
University of Maryland? They offer journalism as a major, they have a college of journalism and everything. Is it that the military only offers their college of arts/sciences? If you're really set on journalism, it's heard from a lot of people it's fine to major in other subjects. Actually at my school newspaper none of the editorial staff were journalism majors, we're all pretty much English/history/political science or business
To clarify, the college is officially called "University of Maryland University College". With the degree programs they offer, there isn't any that are in Journalism specifically. They obviously can't import their whole degree programs over here, given the isolated nature of the bases. So they offer basic, cookie-cutter degrees like Criminal Justice, Buisness, Foreign Language, Communications and so on. The thing is though, none of the subjects they offer really interest me, and I feel like it'd be a moral defeat if I switched my degree program and the universities over here may not necessarily honor my journalism classes as credits towards a degree program over here. Most of them require that you have to take at least 60% of your schooling through their specific degree program to even recieve your degree.

Interesting you bring that up though, Ken.
So I've been watching sportscenter to find out about this blown call that an umpire did. I laugh everytime I watch the video because the pitcher's face goes from "YAY" to "_________" and he just smiles. I'm not heavy into baseball, but dang that was messed up. The dude above it all (I guess) won't overturn the call... I know how this is going to turn out... I really wanted to watch 1st and 10 (ESPN First Take) to see the reactions...
I don't. Skip Bayless can stuff a sock in his pompus mouth. Regardless of how "credible" he may be, he seems to be put on there for the sake of being obnoxious and confrontational. But I agree with you. That poor guy got robbed. He took it in stride, though. Seeing as he will probably never get anywhere close to that milestone ever again. That would have been something though, huh? Three perfect games within 30 days. Baseball is amazing
Wow, man, I didn't know that you moved. Or that you moved far away. Way far away. That sucks. Thankfully, I imagine that learning German might be easier than you think with a background in English. You planning to go to a university there? Change of that level would be difficult for anyone to deal with, yeah? El Paso to Germany is like Earth to Mars, haha.
Yeah, I guess you weren't around when I made the annoucement, lol. As far as the Language goes, there are a lot of cognates with English and German, so I'm able to understand what my landlords and some people are saying. Fortunately, I took a basics class so I can order in restaurants and such. All the places we've went people can spot that we're Americans (somehow) and they all speak English to us. So it's nice that they appreciate us trying and help us out. Yeah no kidding, lol. El Paso and Germany are like apples and oranges. At first I felt like an Alien when I was here.
I don't want to make you feel worse about the situation, but that sucks. It seems like you're handling it OK, though. If I were you I'd probably still be acting 12-years-old and giving bitchy comments to my parents every other hour. Also because I hate learning foreign languages with a FIRE, having gone through two of them and sucking at it immensely. But since you're living there I'm sure it will come quickly. Are you going to uni in Germany? You've probably already thought of this but have you looked into going to a UK school where English would be the primary language?
Actually the Military does offer some schools that are American based (University of Maryland, University of Phoenix [wtf, these things are everywhere], and Central Texas College) , but they don't offer a bachelor's degree in Journalism. So right now I'm at an impass on whether to change my degree program or just go somewhere else for school.
There were some issues about whether or not SA could actually handle the tournament, because I think for awhile things were moving along really slowly in terms of construction - but they did finish up all the stadiums in advance so that's good news. There were also some concerns about safety of fans, just because of all the crazy violence and such, but people who are gonna go, are gonna go anyway. I think the really sad part is that most South Africans can't even afford to go.
I'm secretly rooting for South Africa to make an appearance in their own World Cup, a la the South African Rugby team. That was one of the best moments in sporting history and the world needs more of those these days. That really united the population of South Africa. But as far as hosting goes, Atlanta had a bombing during their Olympics in 1996 and I'd like to think of Atlanta as a safe-ish city.... we can only hope people won't go ape-crazy when this event is going on.

I'm actually a huge fan of soccer because of my grandmother's fascination with it when she was growing up in Scotland. I'm really excited for the USA vs England matchup, but it's a little sad that David Beckham won't be able to make it this year to play for them. I'm pulling for the US, of course, but realistically I don't expect them to win the entire thing. Argentina, Spain and Brazil have a strong case for winning this year, but you never know. Someone might come out of nowhere and have a really good cup, so we might see an underdog making it. Here in Germany, even in my town, everyone is going batty over the world cup. In the market place, there's banners all over advertising it and I know people that have had tickets for a couple of years to the event. It's definitely going to be exciting.
Well, if the results from 2008 mean anything to you, you aren't alone, man. It irks me that Texas seems to get in the national news frequently for controversial things Perry says or does, or weird decisions an agency or government entity made. Oh well. At least Arizona effed up now, too.
Lol, maybe it's because of this gross misconception that people have of Texans and how we are so conservative in our views that we only believe in things that are directly from the Bible. But that doesn't suprise me that the only blue counties are along the border region and the areas that have large metro areas (Dallas, Austin, Houston)

More Minnesotan funnies: My girlfriend of two years is from Minnesota and she says "Pop". When she visited me in El Paso last spring, she asked what kind of Pop they had at a restaurant. The waiter gave her a blank stare, so I had to explain that she wanted soda. Texans, at least where I'm from all refer to soda as "Coke", even if it's not actually Coca-Cola. Sample conversation: Guy #1: Hey you want a Coke? Guy #2: Sure. Guy #1: What kind? Guy #2: Pepsi. @_@ Personally I love Pepsi products over Coke (Except for Mug Root Beer). I like Pepsi because it's a tad sweeter and it doesn't make my teeth feel like they're stuck togetether; which often the case with Coke. I also drink RC products too. Cherry RC is the best kind of Cherry Soda I've ever encountered.

Probably the biggest curve ball in my life this year has been our move to Germany in February of this year. I pretty much grew up in Texas (I've been there since I was four). El Paso was my home and I loved everything about it. The people, the culture, the mountains, the desert air, everything. Then in January, after I've completed two and half years at my university, my dad tells me that we're moving to Germany in less than three weeks. I was devastated. I had to move away from all my friends, my school, my job working at the newspaper (that I loved), and I'd have to move further away from my girlfriend. My life pretty much went into a nosedive. Living here in Germany for the past few months is not what they advertise it to be. When we arrived at Frankfurt, we were stuck in the Airport for 5 hours since the buses were late. I hadn't slept in over 24 hours and I wanted to hit the sack so much that I would have fell asleep on the ground if they let you. The first night we were there, I was wide awake at 11 PM and didn't get back to sleep until mid-afternoon...when my dad calls and says he's found us a temporary apartment for us to live in until we can find a house, because unfortunately for us, all the military housing is full. So, as we lived there for a month while my parents struggled to find a house and all of our possessions basically still on a boat, we entertained ourselves as best we could. Fortunately, we had internet and a Wii. When we finally found a house, I was so skeptical of it. I couldn't be excited about somewhere that wasn't my home. This place isn't my home, it's just where I live at the moment. For those who know me, I'm not a big supporter of change in my life. I'm really stubborn about accepting change because it causes turmoil that I neither want nor need in my life. Needless to say it caused a lot of friction in my family, especially with my mom. To her, everyone is dealing with problems and mine are no exception to the rule. But to me, in my somewhat selfish mind, I thought "You have a job, and you're able to meet people and get out of the house on a daily basis. I'm cooped up at home all day doing nothing. How do you expect me to be accepting of change when I don't get to experience new things?" We've had the chance to experience some of the German culture and see the sights (castles, ruins, big German cities) , but Germany isn't what I'm used to at all. I was raised in an environment where we got 335 days of sun on average. Now it is either mostly cloudy or raining 80% of the time. I can't really go out of my home during the day since I don't speak the language well enough to help myself if I was in trouble and my only mode of transportation is my parents. I feel like, even though I'm 21, I'm living like a high schooler who doesn't have a driver's license. So yeah...that's my life right now.

I love cheese on most things, but I'll throw out some weird things that people have had me try that make me leery to top things with Cheese Ramen, for example. My Ex-Girlfriend used to put cheese in the Ramen. Usually, I like having ramen more as a noodle dish rather than having the broth in it. She likes it the latter way, only con queso. I was respectful when I tried it, but I couldn't eat more than two bites of it. Cheese usually hides tastes for me, but in this case....no. Ramen is perfect the way it is. Pinto Beans with cheese. Now, I can see this for Nachos or maybe chili, but this is Pinto beans with Ham on it with some cheese mixed in it. There's no Taco seasoning or chili seasoning in it. Also not my cup of tea. Now onto some wonderful things that have cheese! Enchiladas. Green, Red, with Mole sauce, whatever. It's all good when you add chese on top of it and stuff it with your meat of choice and more cheese. I love authentic mexican food and they really know how to work cheese into their dishes. Chile Rellenos. It's a fried green chile with cheese stuffed inside of it. Think Jalapeno popper, only bigger and more delicious. Cheeseburgers. Probably because I think burgers are pretty flat when you only have Ketchup, Mustard and Mayo on them. I have to have cheese and lettuce on mine to have the perfect burger. Cheesecake. Easily my favorite dessert. I substitute it for birthday cake on my birthdays. Most people put toppings on their cheesecake, but I prefer mine as is. New York Style.

They forgot to mention my birthday. That's an international day of celebration where everyone forgets that it's my birthday on purpose to try and lower my self-esteem. It's always fun! I like "Forgiveness Day." and "World Sauntering day" the most. I've always wanted to celebrate synonyms for the word "walk", so I'll think I'll do so on that day by sauntering about my neighborhood in traditional Sauntering day apparel.
