I think the member nominations system works great and with the new base of members that we have this year, I'm sure there are some really nifty things to be had. :)
 5. Gambit's power of adding kinetic energy would be nice. Does it come with a Cajun accent?

 7. I picked up Blazblue, finally. Few things I want to mention. -Online for this game is hit or miss. I have only found a handful of players who knew what they were doing. -The damage scaling (or lack thereof) in this game is retarded. Tager can do half damage combos off of one throw. Ouch. - Nu is retarded. -The artistry in this game is goregeous. The game is very pretty.

 10. Hello hello. I have a simple request from you, the talented artists at OB. Using this concept: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PgzWtj7VIiM/RnA726Tx9pI/AAAAAAAACxU/Wfe9nimksQI/s1600-h/nina+williams+3.jpg I'd like a set (avatar and banner). I'm a bit picky about my sets, so I'll try to be as specific as possible For Both: -Gray,Metallic background. I want it to look like Nina is standing in front a giant piece of sheet metal -Have Nina cropped from about the bust up. Av only: Have Nina on the right side of the avatar and simply the letter K on it in some sort of Sans-Serif font. Banner Only: Have Nina on the right side of the banner. I'd like the saying "Come on Baby, show me what you got." on there in the same font as the Avatar. Thanks to whoever takes this on.
 11. Best Fighting game: SFIV. Damn right. The show was ok. All the games I thought would win did. Call of Duty was no suprise in the shooter category. Although I thought it would take the cake for Game of the Year too. I guess since Uncharted 2 was out longer than Modern Warefare 2. Best soundtrack is debateable too. But eh, it was a good show. Looking forward to next year in gaming. This year was awesome.

 16.
Seeing that Stephanie made that post back in August, that's one hell of a long sugar rush. 17. Nah, I'd bet money I'd feel a whole lot better than the scrotal attack victim
 18. A game I found a letdown was Mortal Kombat VS DC. I thought it had some nifty features, but most of them turned out to be gimmicks. Doesn't help that the combo system is so tight that mashers can take advantage of it. Also, while you can move in 3D, there is no real point. But I severly disagree with SC2 and Tekken 5 being mentioned. SC2, at its time, was the re-emergence of the Soul Series, which SC1 was a gem. SC2 wasn't more of the same, quite the opposite. The juggle engine was more free and movement was easy. New characters, decent single player and a better engine.
 19. Just a heads up, please don't backseat moderate. I'll make sure the thread stays on track. I edited your post to reflect that ;) Anyways, you mention these wirless things without even providing a link or something like that. But these wireless USB adapters are built for desktop computers, which are inheriently built WITHOUT wirless in them. Most laptops these days have wireless cards built in them that allows you to connect to the internet through wireless access points that are in range. Your laptop should have one built in it already. Buying a USB wireless adapter isn't going to increase your range at all. I don't know what kind of laptop you have, but I'm assuming that since you want to increase range that your laptop has wireless built into it.You can buy wireless cards for your laptop if you want something more powerful, but you won't get reliable signal from like five miles away.As far as prices and signal strength (and even compatibility) that's something that Google can answer. So your best bet would probably be just to find a wi-fi hotspot.
 20. I have songs that invoke strong emotions from me, but never bring me to the point of tears. I always have that "song" that makes me think of certain women in my life. For my ex it was Lifehouse's "You and Me". For my current girlfriend, it's Brian Mcknight's "Back at One."
 21. You actually brought up a good point, Al, and I wanted to point this out. When does the age of impression begin and end?Generally, it seems like it's more difficult to discipline children when they reach a certain age. I don't know whether it's puberty or what have you, but the question I ask is, do you break consistency in punishment to reflect your child's age? Obviously spanking a 15 year old won't do you much good at all, but no matter what the punishment method you use shouldn't it be somewhat consistent? Also, to elaborate more on the age of impression, do we stop trying to teach values or try to impress them on them when they reach a certain age? Obviously not, because learning is a life-long process. Maybe it's a certain age where parents have to let go of the reigns and let the child learn things for themselves, but a parent doesn't ever completely stopteaching their child values and morals. Heck, I still ask my parents for advice on relationships, things I should be doing and even if I'm wrong in doing something. Also, you're right. Privilege it is.
 22.
Only if the child has developed some sort of attachment to the television. Or game systems, for that matter. My mother tried those sorts of things with me when I was in middle school and quickly gave it up because I didn't care. It's one fracking game system, I can do other things. Like read books. Or go outside.
True, but I was using the TV as a general object to take away. What's the biggest source of entertainment for children? TV. Especially these days.
I tend to disagree with "privilege removal" mostly on the basis that the things that are removed aren't seen as privileges and most often just make the kid angst. (See chibi-master's remarks about losing the computer. Though it was rather an unjustified reason to begin with as far as I'm concerned, it obviously did nothing to 'correct' the 'errant behavior', and so was completely ineffectual. I could say the same for a number of my friends in middle and high school who got their phones or games or cars taken away for some tommyrot or other and didn't learn anything.) The point mostly is that these privileges aren't actually removed. They're simply retracted momentarily, and no emphasis is put on getting it back because all that's required to get it back is a time limit.
I think that privelge removal, like any form of punishment (to include physical punishment) is a child by child thing and it's up to the parents to instill that sort of morality on their children. You can spank and spank and spank, but if the child doesn't learn anything or correct their behavior, then it just becomes a result of bad behavior that the child has become accustomed to. "If I do this, then I know I'm gonna get a swat on the tush and that's it."
Think: when you lose someone's trust, you have to earn it back. When you lose your phone, it comes back after a month. Does the second case inspire any form of behavior modification? Any at all?
Like I said, that's a case by case basis. I shouldn't have generalized and said that it's easy to discipline the child if you just take something away for a month. But I have another point that I think your next quote is better suited for.
If such tactics are to be effective, then, the time limit can't be pre-known. Knowing how long a thing is gone just turns the punishment into a waiting game; if instead the child has to earn back the privilege through their behavior or performance, then you can see first if it matters to them and second if they want to get it back badly enough to change.
Using your line of logic (or what I think your logic was), you would say that earning something back inspires people to change their ways so that they can recieve privleges back. But the actual sincerity of changing errant behavior is really murky water. What if the child repeats the behavior? Do you take the privlege away again and use the same method? If so, then what changes occured the first time? I think having a pre-determined time of taking away the privlege works well because it's a consistent method of enforcing punishment. If the child were to keep repeating the same behavior, the same punishment would ensue. Now, and here's why my mother's forms of punishment come in, if the behavior is chronic you can increase the length of time the privelge is taken away. One week of being grounded turns into two weeks, a month, etc etc.
 23. If you're talking about trying to sponge off of someone else's internet like a cable scrambler, then I would highly suggest against doing this. But if you just want a wireless signal reciever or wireless card to pick up unsecured connections (which I would still suggest against) then that's fine. But I would still suggest that you pay for a very basic internet package. Most of them are very affordable, even on a tight budget. Also, there's tons of places that I know of that have free wi-fi these days.
 24. I also agree that using non-physical forms of punishment work just as well when disciplining children. It comes down to two things: Consistency and Firmness. If you are consistent in your punishment, then a child (hopefully) is less likely to do things. For instance, if you take away TV for a month every time for a punishment for behavior, then it's easy to discipline the child. It's amazing what happens when you take away electronics from children.... Firmness is always a biggie too. While it breaks your heart to discipline your kids, you have to stay firm to show that you won't give in to them. Children can see the weakness in you when you give in. But I really shouldn't be talking about disciplining children, as I have none. :p
