Hello and welcome to the newest community event, Otaku Jeopardy! The premise of the game is rather simple, answering trivia questions on topics that will vary from week to week. Each week there will be three contestants that will be competeing for the title of Otaku Jeopardy champion. The Champion will continue onto next week, where they will defend their title against two new contestants. So now onto the questions So, Korey, how do I enter? Post your name up on the Auditions Thread. The contestants for the show will be notifyed by PM on Monday when Auditions close. When does the game start? The game will officially start Tuesday. The questions will be revealed 2 at a time for 5 days. The game will end on Saturday. What are the rules? Simply, to answer the questions. The first person to post with the answers to the questions will get one point per correct answer. The winner is the person with the most points. You are allowed to look up the answer to any question you may not know, however this may affect the speed of your response. In the case of a tie in points, a tiebreaker question will be asked. The first person to answer the tiebreaker will win the game. What do we win? The champion will get a nifty custom title to adorn their profile until next week's game. If the champion wins the next game, they get to keep their custom title until a new champion is crowned. Anything else? Nope, that about covers it. Be on the lookout for a PM! Good luck and have fun!:catgirl:

A lot of them don't like you, either. Probably because you give such terrible and snarky nicknames.

Or maybe it's just rod-envy. Who knows? =P

I think it's a combination of both, but I'm not out to win Member X's heart because I lend a sympathetic ear to their drivel.Perhaps I should turn my ignore switch back on?
Thanks for the pic, Darren. Also, Andy Roddick vs Roger Federer today was just incredible. I really have to take my hat off to both of them. Some of the best Tennis I've seen was played today. While I was sad that Roddick lost, I really have to give it to Federer. The man knows how to win. Great match.

Gaming Discussion of music file formats, bit rates, and file sizes!
Korey replied to Roxie Faye's topic in Noosphere
In all of iTunes's infinite wisdom, they created a file type that does not work for most media players outside of iPods. Talk about wanting to create brand loyalty  . I've tried some programs and they really don't help if you have to convert the files to MP3's, since they lose a generation going down a level. As far as Audio files, the most common files used today are MP3's and MP4's (protected or not-protected). Windows has Windows Media Audio (.wma) format for their files and that is really comparable to an MP3 in my opinion. There's also .midi files, the kind of files you get on those old ringtones before they got "real"tones. You also used to hear those kinds of files used in older video games. Basically, .midi files are just sounds programmed to bleep and boop at certain times. It's not like actually playing an instrument and converting it into bleeps and boops. But as far as quality goes, MP4's are the best quality of audio file that I've found. MP3's are nice, but sometimes when I download them, they end up pretty crappy. Not so with MP4's. So any song that you have in MP3 format can be converted to AAC (m4p) format and you'll actually hear the difference in quality. Hope that answers your questions. -
Alright the first day is over. Looks like we have Shin out to an early lead again. The answers to the questions are: 1) Yoda 2) Darth Maul So the score is currently: Shin:2 Sangome:0 Miss Anonymous: 0 ~~~~~~~~~~ Now onto today's questions: 1)The ability to speak does not make you intelligent, now get out of here. 2)You were right about one thing, Master; the negotiations were short. ~~~~~~~~~~ Good luck Everyone!

Congratulations to our contestants for this week: Shinmaru, Sangome and Miss Anonymous. Here is the first batch of questions. This week's topic is Star Wars Quotes. All you have to do is identify who said the quote to get the point. 1)No! Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try. 2)Fear. Fear attracts the fearful. The strong. The weak. The innocent. The corrupt. Fear. Fear is my ally. Remember, you are allowed to look up any answer you may not know. However, doing so may affect your speed. You're not required to answer in the form of a question. Simply provide the character's name. The person to correctly post the answers will receieve the points. Good luck!

Look, I'm all up for discussion and I don't think that the issue is going out of hand, so...I don't think that people will think that I'm arguing over mundane things. If it does get out of hand, then I can just close the thread. Simple enough. :p
No, contradiction and hypocrisy are not the same. I was contradicting myself to prove something. I was trying to show that just because I like to be the strong, silent type, doesn't mean I think crying is weak. Like I said before, I've done it too much, and it gets me nowhere. I like to do things about any problems that would make me cry.I was really responding to the guy that said crying was weak for men.
I'm fully aware that contradiction and hypocrisy are not the same. Contradictions lead to hypocrisy. It's nice that you believe that being strong is how to accomplish things, but even those who "cry" during emotional times can accomplish something. Now there's a difference between crying and throwing a fit. The latter accomplishes othing (most times). However, the person who said "crying is for sissies" was using the oldest of internet forms of language. Sarcasm. They don't really mean it that way and even if they do, it's OK to have a different opinion of men crying or not. Feel free to disagree, but also be open to criticism from the other side of the argument. Don't assume that I didn't understand you, because I certainly did. But we're kind of de-railing the topic, so let's try to steer back now. *turns the ship around*
-
I know I contradicted myself, I did that on purpose. I would have to be an idiot to do that without realizing it. I guess what I was trying to say is that men who cry are not weak. In a way it shows strength, in the sense that they don't care if people think they are weak. .
Could have fooled me. I don't contradict myself on purpose, because that's called being "hypocritical". No one said that men who cry are weak. Certainly there are moments where men have cried or shown emotion. Like I've covered before, it's been a traditional gender stereotype for a man to be the silent, strong type when reacting to emotionally trying events.
