1.
I miss the good old times where everyone I knew was here and I would RP or talk to them. I also miss the good times where everyone just started out and we were all n00bs spamming the forums and posting in RPs with misspelt words and grammar. I miss the good times where everything was actually funny. ...just kidding. I dunno anymore.
Mmm, I think that the boards has just changed focus with the members growing up in age. While it's certainly fun to look back at your posts and see how you were years ago, it's certainly not a reflection of the Boards not being as fun. As times change; people change. The Boards change too. I still have a lot of fun and with all the features that have made theOtaku's network more connected, we are certainly moving in the right direction.
  2. Botar: I'll admit that upon reading it at first glance, it seemed like you were trying to backseat DM, but I have to apologize for being a prick to ya. Not of my nature.
  3.
Were do you wan't you're story to go? PM me and we can talk about it.
Mmmm, I had an idea with Stephanie's character. However, I think that Stephanie (the character) can have a conflict with her owner/pimp/whatever he is. Just a suggestion. Botar, remember that chat we had about backseat Dungeon Modding? I'm very firmly reminding you not to do so. Afro, I understand. It would have been nice to get a PM, but we can't predict life. If you can make it up to me with a stellar post, I'm sure all can be forgiven. ;) Post Ruroni Edit: That does seem rather interesting and I'm open for discussion about it if you want to elaborate a little further on the topic (who it involves, what's the overall conclusion, etc.)
  4. So the second of round of posting has begun and I'm seeing some possible plot lines developing. I liked the he said/she said bit between Athena and Silpheed Pilot. Maybe you guys can elaborate on that a bit further. I'm interested to see how the interrogation between Drizzt and his victim goes. But for now, I'd like to see another possible story arc develop beyond Korey's arc. Perhaps someone can work with Boo, Ruroni or Omega. ;) Keep up the good work everyone.
  5. Honestly, I wasn't gonna get in this thread for the subject matter it covers. People are not willing to concede in their beliefs and consider all possible angles or just let people be.
D'Ann, darling, I was just sayin' that whats-his-name up there was glorifying Christinanity. I agree, there are fabulous things about it, and horrible others. I completely agree. I just disagreed with the way he said it. I'm not gonna bash Christianity. I can find some horrible things to say about many 'pagan' religions, too.

And I hate to say it, but too many people have died in the name of this God that asks for nothing, too many people believe themselves condemned to an eternal pit of pain and torture because they weren't perfect enough. Doesn't sound very nice to me.
I see a disparity in those two posts. The people who have done these horrible things in the name of God did not read the Gospel or had it interpreted to them correctly. I've never read a single passage in the Bible that says to kill the heathens because they are godless and therefore need to be eradicated. The Qu'Aran (I know I'm spelling this wrong) doesn't speak of this either. I haven't read many other religious scriptures, but most religion's messages are that of peace, love and understanding. I respect your views on Christianity and many horrible things have come about with people doing things in the name of their chosen deity, but it doesn't speak for others as a whole. So overall I'm trying to say tomahtoe, and you say tomaytoe. It's a common goal we're trying to reach anyways.
  6.
Everyone, at one point or another, reveres me. It's no big deal, it'll pass in a year or two. ;)
._. ........... Ok sure. Moving on. Here's a picture of me and my GF.
  7. While stress can be a factor in violent behavior, I think that violence really stems from a the individual's personality. Everyone reacts to stress differently and if you have violent tendencies, then that's what ends up being prevalent in a pressing situation. I don't absolutely agree with that sentiment, because some of the nicest people can become abusers given the amount of stress they have in life. I don't know that the economy going bad is really determining people's stress levels and how it correlates to domestic abuse. It can be a factor, sure, but not the main factor. Domestic abuse tends to stem from a variety of things, not just stress and failures in life. I think the economy being used as a scapegoat for people's violent tendencies really carries little water. I've seen cases where the aggressor (not necessarily a man) is a very successful person and still beats their spouse or mentally abuses them at home.
  8. Actually it isn't up to anyone but me. Sorry. Like I said in your audtion post, this is a realistic world and the characters are based in a realistic setting. You should probably research some before attempting to suggest possible angles for the RPG. Also, I looked at your character and she's not what I was looking for, so sorry.
  9. This reminds me of something..... Yeah, that.
  10. I've heard some pretty lulzy stories about bluetooth headsets failing on people, so it's a mixed bag either way. I'd say go for the wired headset, since it would cost you less money and you could have money for other things. Like more games. I'd definitely go first party, however. 3rd party headsets are always breakable/ not as good.
  11.
You know, the RP looks like it's going pretty well, albeit slowly. But everyone in here seems a little catty. What gives? So minimal interaction? I probably just skipped over something, but why?
In the movie, the characters stories (Dwight's, Marv's, Hardigan's) have little to no interaction with each other than a simple passing by or one scene together. So keeping true to the noir style of the film, I asked for little character interaction.
  12. Not even after the meat wagon scrapes Carrie's body off the ground and carries her off do I start looking for leads. I question the girls, see if they saw anything. But apparently Carrie had the night off. They weren't sure though. Dumb broads, can't even keep track of their own. Leave it to a bunch of women not to do a headcount. My cell rings. It's Drizzt Do'Urden, a cop with the Twelfth. Dead Men Walking, they were called. Made sense, given how close they were to Old Town. The ones that weren't dead were just lucky. If you were in the Twelfth you had a bullet with your name on it. Just up to you when that bullet was fired. Do'Urden gives me the sympathetic ear approach and lets me know if there's anything that he can help me with, to let him know. They may be dead men walking, but the Twelfth was always good for getting info from the criminal underbelly. Only because they were on the payroll. I walk outside and lite up a drag. I'd been sober for three years. Carrie didn't like it when I smoked. Said it made the house stink. No reason to care about that, I needed it to calm down, keep my head from pounding as hard. Then I catch her glimpse from the corner of my eye. She looks straight at me, stares at me. Then it hits me. She was there at the crime scene. She seems outta place in Old Town. She is dressed like all the other whores, but her eyes give her away. She wants to get out. Ain't no leavin Old Town. Unless it's in a meat wagon. The girls keep watch over me like hawks. Ready to fill me with lead if I showed the slightest bit of defiance. I had overstayed my welcome. If I kept snooping, I was sure to find something. But not what I was looking for. So I make my way back to my old heap and decide to give the Dead Men a little visit.
  13.
It's not going to be for awile, it wouldn't be fun to knock off a character so soon, anywase, my story revolves around Drizzt, so it's going to be awile till I get the chance to kill him, or I might join up with him, I've had that idea in my head for awile, so could you reconsider Korey?
No.
Also, were is the map?
So far we've established one place, Old Town. I was waiting for someone to establish some more locations.
  14. Hmm, as much as I said "Hey let's try to keep character interaction down and limited" I can see that went down the drain awfully quick. I have a use for Drizzt, so I'm going to have to say no on the hitman thing. I need him alive to help me find some leads on my daughter.

    Sexting
We promote sex education that teaches kids the dangers of unprotected sex. We don't hand them condoms and say, here you go, you can go do whatever you want! They're still bound by a little thing known as age of consent based on what state you live in. Statutory rape anyone? So it's REALLLLY stupid to assume (or talk in a roundabout fashion that essentially says the same thing) that they're teaching the kids that the class gives them a free pass to do whatever they want. If anything, it wouldn't hurt to expand the class a bit to explain how certain behaviors will land them in serious trouble, like passing on those pictures taken for posterity.
Ok Nathan, but this is the way I rationalize it. If I take sex education (which it was offered at my school, but I elected not to take it) and am informed about the dangers of unprotected sex, then I can make an informed decision on whether or not to engage in sexual activity. Handing out condoms is NOT a free pass. Hormones are raging in kids at that age and if a condom is the thing that would keep my kids from getting STDs or having kids of their own, then I wouldn't mind if schools handed out condoms. Now there many split hairs arguments when it comes to age of consent. What if both parties in question are minors based upon age of consent? Do you punish them both? Or does an age difference more ground for statutory rape? As far as expanding the class to talk about sending out racy pictures and things, that should really be common sense. Telling a kid in class "Look, if you take racy pictures of yourself and send them to others, you could get in trouble. And if you send a picture of your BF or GF and they are nude or semi-nude, we'll charge you with child pornography." But I guess kids would need that, seeing as common sense is something they are severely lacking in these days.
  16. It's rare now a days that I read the news, but I found this article awfully interesting and thought it would bring about quite the discussion. Sexting: Various Stories In one part of the story, there was an 18 year old kid who was convicted for child pornography when he sent pictures of his 16 year-old girlfriend to all of his friends that were racy. He was ordered to 5 years probation and had to register as a sex offender. Now, I'm wondering, what exactly are the bounds for child pornography? In my mind, I picture young kids (between 3-10 years old) being forced to do sexual acts. But this girl took pictures supposedly by her own volition. If you willingly take nude pictures of yourself, I think that you should be fully aware that they may be distributed. Teens make that mistake that they won't be published to others. This kid had to register as a sex offender in Florida. According to the story, Florida keeps a public database on the internet of registered sex offenders. So now his reputation is pretty much shot down the drain for sending nude pictures of his GF to others in a fit of rage. But I think that "sexting" is a rather common act and many kids do it, it's just a matter of who gets caught and who doesn't. Even adults send each other less than tasteful texts and photos, so it's not like this is a rare instance. So now I pose the discussion. Should pictures of minors, even taken by their own volition be constituted as child pornography? Should registered sex offenders be forced to wear "scarlet letters" by having their names put on a public database? When is the earliest age that minors could/should be prosecuted for sex crimes?
  17.
Yeah, I can't get in either, but thats because i'm using a Wii, and Wii's, or actually more like Opera operating systems don't support Adobe. That sucks, 'cause I was alloud to use chat tne first of April. So with that, is there an Adobe free chat room?
No, there is not. What you see is what you get.
  18. (Note: You should probably put some spoiler tags on your posts, Drizzt) This was pretty recent.
In Fast and Furious, they blew up Vin Diesel's Charger when he jumped out of it in a narrow tunnel into the car next to him. It explodes and gets buried in rubble underneath a mountain. Now, in the end scene of the movie where Vin Diesel is on a prison Bus headed to his prison, you see Paul Walker DRIVING THAT VERY SAME CHARGER. I literally jumped up in my seat and said: "THEY BLEW UP THE CHARGER!"

  19. I'm not a Nazi, and I'm willing to be lienient on most things, but that's one thing that I'm not lienent on. Please curb the swearing and keep it to the main thread and we'll be good.
  20. I want to make things a little clear before I go on. I did specify in my auditions thread that the RP has no restrictions to language or mature content (within reason) , but this is for the main thread ONLY. The backstage thread is still held within the rules of Otakuboards. If you need to take a look at them, click this. Let's try to hold ourselves to a standard here, ladies and gentlemen. Also, if not everyone who has signed up for the thread has posted by the end of the week, I will be making cuts to the cast. No sense in waiting for individuals who aren't going to post. My list of slackers: [strike]Gavin[/strike] [strike]SilpheedPilot[/strike] Afro Lastly. A map will be up soon. You guys wanted it, you guys got it.
  21. There's no inch to be given, because there's no inch that was taken.
I feel that I should be given a good explanation for why this thread, which was originally a genuine thread about complaints people had on the OB, was shut down.
This is my personal opinion, but moderators shouldn't really have to explain their actions of why a thread was shutdown beyond what they say in a thread. You were given the Terms of Service when you signed up, which you agreed to. We have Forum Rules, which you agreed to follow. So if the thread gets shut down and the Moderator/Administrator explains why, then that's why. End of story. To address Flyvapnet's "complaint", in my personal experience with moderators on OB (before I became one), they have been very helpful and awfully relaxed in their enforcement of policies as opposed to when I first joined the forums. So to say they are dismissive and don't do anything but throw their mod weight around is unfair.
  22. Huh, could of sworn there was a thread for this. But of all the "favorite XXXX" threads, we've stumbled upon one we haven't covered. Good stuff. Anyways, more on topic, I've always loved the music from The Legend of Zelda series. Link to the Past has some of my most memorable tracks from it, but I also enjoyed the music on Ocarina of Time. My favorite track was probably the little bit they played for the theme to go to the fire Dungeon on Goron Mountain. I also like the originial soundtrack from Street Fighter II. Although the music has been remastered (quite well I might add), the original CPS I tracks are timeless and are the kind of music I grew up on. My favorite stage themes are Guile's, Vega's, and Bison's. My friends and I contend that Guile's theme should be the American National Anthem. Guilty Gear XX has some of the best tracks I've heard in any game out of all the games I've played. I actually own the OST for GGXX and my favorite tracks are Awe of She, Holy Order? (Robo Ky's theme), Keep Yourself Alive, and Holy Order (Ky's theme).
  23. Assumptions killed the radio star. You probably should have checked the thread itself. I'll give your character a once over and see what you corrected/changed. If it's up to snuff, then we can talk from there.
  24. There's a way to cure it. I made a detailed explanation on my Youtube page.
  25.
Heh. I think a map would be an OK idea. I'm not making it, though... I have schoolwork. Also, feel free to drag me into your posts... I don't mind.
Did you change your character, like I asked?
