I'm familiar with Stepmania and to answer your question about what makes a good simfile (I'm assuming you mean the step charts), it's just a matter of knowing the song and doing a few things: 1) DO NOT put it to the lyrics 2) DO NOT put it to the main melody of the song 3) Mix up your timing charts (I.E. - Put in Gallops, Triplets, Runs...etc) 4) Listen to the song repeatedly to gain a grasp of what is going on in the song. You can test your Simfiles right on SM and see for yourself. But I'm assuming you want someone on OB to test your Simfiles for you. In which case, I could probably give them a look for you, if need be.

Do we really need a map? I mean, if you WANNNT, we can...but I don't really think so. As long as everyone pays attention to where everyone posts, there really shouldn't be much confusion. Also, you are free to make up your own locations. As far as a roster goes, all the information is in the Auditions thread. A simple search of that will get you the info you need. But I'll put the map to a vote. I say nay. Everyone else?

That could end up being a very nifty way for things to play out. I think it'd be cool for my character to go gallabanding after the mob, thinking it's them and then eventually figures out it's some of his own. No really polices the police, if you get my drift. Good idea, Gavin. Post it up!

Use this thread to discuss any possible story-lines or even specific posts within the RP that you find interesting, too provocative, or maybe just plain wrong. Remember, as the RP Creator, I get final say on all of your posts. For the story line itself, I would suggest that everyone establishes an initial story-line for themselves that introduces a conflict. As you can see in my original OP, my daughter has been killed by the Mob and they are beginning the early stages of a war on Old Town. So try to introduce something that's happening in your character's life. You can have other RP'ers characters in your story, but please consult with them before you make their characters do anything that they may not want for their characters. The story is very loose on terms of what goes on, with very little character interaction between the characters unless someone deems it necessary to their story. Multiple plots may surface, with people on both sides of the conflict. So let's see what we can come up with!:catgirl: Good luck everyone and let's see some good posting.

I sit around the house, waiting for Carrie to come home. I can't really say why of all times I decide to give a damn, but she's all I got left. All I have that keeps me sane. Keeps me from doing all those horrible things I did all over again. 11:15. She's late. Is she ok? She's got my spare, she should be fine. What if some scumbag snuck up behind her? No. Calm down old man. She's 17, she's gonna be late. Women are always late. 11:30. Still not home. I pace around the house, praying that I'll hear her come in the door. But nothing. Get a grip, Korey. She's probably running around with her little girlfriends. She's fine. Try her phone? No. That's too overbearing. Why not? Just hearing her voice will be fine enough for me. I dial the number, no answer. Voicemail. Damn. This isn't helping. 11:45, house phone rings. My heart jumps up. I'm hoping it's Carrie. But it's not. It's the dispatcher. "Korey, there's a scene down near Old Town. Captain says you need to check it out." My heart drops. No. It's not Carrie. Can't be. She knows better than to go to Old Town. I race my old clunker down to the scene. Cops don't normally go anywhere near Old Town. The women are the law there. Unless you've got deep pockets, your badge doesn't get you anything but a sadistic grin. They've got more handcuffs than you do. Their backup will get there before yours does. I have no idea what I was doing down there, but the ladies were all crowded around a mangled body. "Eesh." one of them says, looking at the disfigured face. It looked like someone had taken a sledgehammer to her. Her clothes, if you could call them that, were all ripped to pieces. She had marks all over her body. She had put up a fight. "Lawman, you really don't have to get invovled in this. We can handle any asshole that comes our way." One of them said. "Well, you forgot to handle one asshole. Now you've got a dead hooker. Someone's sending you a message." "Hey! Don't you talk about Carrie like she was just some other broad. She was nice, and all the fellas liked her." "What did you just say?" My heart dropped. Not her. Not my Carrie. She's too young, too pure to be one of the girls in Old Town. Now's she's dead. The only thing I had left. The only thing that was keeping me sane. Keeping from doing all the horrible things that I've done again. Someone had cornered you Carrie, and then took you down. It wasn't a single guy either. No, you're too tough to be killed by one measly prick trying to get lucky. Someone knew who you were and where you worked. They cornered you and beat you down. Probably raped you, too. Then they beat your face in and dropped you on Old Town's doorstep. Someone was trying to send a message. It was loud and clear. War was on the way. Blood was going to be shed. Women's blood. It was going to run like it did all those days ago when the Mob ran Old Town. They were on the move again. I'm gonna get them back for you Carrie. I'm gonna send every last one of them to hell. I love you Carrie.

Is it just me or is the post box awesome?! Great work Boo. The Actual RPG starts Tomorrow. I'll get the OP up ASAP, so make sure to look for it.
Wow, i'm glad I got a character down for this. This RP looks like it's going to be amazing! Good thinking Korey.
Heh, thanks. It looks like it is shaping up to be a wonderful RPG. Inu-Yasha Fandom, I'm not quite sure about your character. It seems like they are a he, but they are having relations with another male? Maybe I'm dyslexic at night. Who knows? @_@
“If you can’t get through one paragraph without swearing, then you need to get a dictionary and starting expanding your vocabulary."
Couldn't have said it better myself. I tend not to swear so much, because I feel it demeans me as a person. If I'm angry, I might let a few slip here and there, but even so, I have better ways to diffuse stress than using curse words. In response to the article, I don't think that the nation's problems really are to attribute to the rising of cursing, simply because people who use curse words tend to use them in ANY sort of stressful situation. Stubbed their toes, got cut off on the freeway, dropped the cake they had just made...etc. ****.

Fastidious spelling snobs pushed over the edge
Korey replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion
It's a nervous habit of mine to put in fillers when I speak. It is really sort of off putting when someone is speaking though. I blame the valley girls in California for that. The difference between us and them, though, is that they do it because they're not firing on all cylinders, if you know what I mean. Every stereotype made of them is true. -

*Points to his Signature*Hush you. I've got proof of your maturity right here. -
I also think you read that first bit off of Wikipedia :p I've watched some videos of gameplay and I would say that the game, while a lot like GG, has it's own identity. I can see myself playing as Taokaka, because her style of play seems fun and her character design is very wicked and contrasts with her voice. That just screams awesome. Street Fighter IV has only been out on console for a month, so it's too soon to tell if this is Arc's killer ap to combat SFIV. But who cares? It's another awesome looking game from an awesome developer. So why not just play both games?

Watch those Double Posts there, missy. Aren't I pretty? -
You'll have to be a bit more specific with what you want, besides the pic. But I'd be happy to help you out.

Hmm, while I don't want to be one to turn a potential RP-er down, I feel that this world is a world more set in realism than that of fantasy. So Tetra, could you please re-read the conditions for characters and look what everyone else has posted.

People aren't born in Otakusin City. They're forged out of the fires of passion that grip the streets and make the people so afraid to go out at night that only the people crazy enough to avoid the rapists and the gang bangers run the streets. It's the kind of city that makes Washington's politicians look that much straighter. "Carrie, where are you going?" I yelled as she strutted down the stairs and marched towards the door. "What the fuck do you care? You're only ever around when people don't want you to be. Don't try being a dad after being gone for two years, Korey." "Hey, you think I want my daughter ending up like all those other sluts down in Chinatown, huh?" I grabbed a hold of her wrist and stared into her eyes. Eyes so full of naivety that they could only belong to my 17 year-old daughter. Her blazing-red hair matched her fiery personality and made her look just like her mother. She had been through so much in her life and being the daughter of a deadbeat cop that has cut more than his share of corners certainly didn't help her with coping skills. That and the fact that I practically disappeared when things got tight. I didn't know how to face my family after that money laundering scam with the Mafia went south. You don't cross the Mafia, ever. I'm pretty sure she'd never forgive me for her mother dying in front of her as dear ol' dad hid in the shadows, like a rat. "LET GO OF ME!" "At least put a coat on. It's colder than shit out there." I said, handing her a small coat. "Here, take this too." I slipped her an old 9mm I carried. "If some douche bag is giving you a hard time, cap him first, ask questions later." She still hates me, but I'd rather have her hate me and be alive to say it than to end up like so many other girls here. Only, they're not girls here in Otakusin city. They're sheep. Targets with tits. Potential hookers, strippers, drug dealers. My daughter wasn't going to be one of them. She was too smart for that. I watched as she stuffed the gun in her purse and walked out the door. "You have your ass back in this house by 11 PM! YOU HEAR ME?!" I shouted at the door frame. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello one and all and welcome to one of OB's most ambitious (and hopefully most successful) RP's to date. I'm trying a lot of new things with this RP. For those of you not acquainted with the movie or graphic novel Sin City, I would suggest you look it up before posting begins. Specific Rules about this RP: Swearing, cursing, bloodshed and drug use all fly. So do it was long as you want, but keep it in good taste. Sex is allowed. HOWEVER, I don't want all the details. So let's be creative and keep it away from porno smut. X-Rated but no money shots, get the picture? You will be playing the character of yourself (Screen Name) If you have a multi word username, consider breaking it up into multiple names (i.e. Chibi Master would have that as her first and last name). Your character must have some sort of defect to them. As in, they have to be crooked in some way or have a dark past or something. The City of Otakusin City forces the characters to be this way. So there's no such thing as a pure character in this RP. So that also means that you can play crooked politicians, clergymen, prostitutes, drug dealers, pimps...etc etc. Get creative with this. I am letting A LOT of the other rules slide in the name of creative leeway, but this RP is a VERY MATURE RP. So if you have any qualms about the content covered in here, then PM me or we can discuss it in the Backstage section (that will be up momentarily). *I* get final say in your posts. If I feel you went too far or posted outside the boundaries, I will tell you to re-post. If you don't like it, that's cool. But remember, players, you can always turn down the wrong alley and end up dead. So let's try to be at least somewhat cooperative. I'm lax, but not a pushover. Okay so all the details about your characters Intro: Write a brief (500 words or so) intro explaining your character's angle in the story. Name: Your screen name Age: Occupation: Appearance: Personality: Family (if applicable): Here's my character as an Example Intro: Read Above Name: Korey Middleton Age: 35 Occupation: Appearance: Aged, with gray hair and many wrinkles on his face. Korey has grayish eyes that have faded with years. Normally wears a white polo shirt with a red tie and brown pants with suspenders on them. Always carries a pistol on his breast holster. Personality: Is not above bending the rules for personal gain. Selfish until it comes to his family. Very street savvy. Good interrogator. Family: Wife (Denise, Dead), Daughter (Carrie, 17) ~~~~~~~~~~ Alright everyone, have fun and sign ups will remain until March 24th at Midnight. ~Korey

Although I don't consider myself old by any means, I've racked up some rather interesting moments in my tenure on OB. Highlight's include: Meeting Stephanie: Possibly my best of all friends and my confidante, she is one classy lady. Although I'm pretty sure I've explained how we've met, it was through a misunderstanding on an old Arena thread. We exchanged PMs and then eventually got to be good friends. Sincerely is a pleasure, miss. Arguments with Mitch: Quite possibly the most pseudo of pseudo-intellectuals, Mitch often aggravated me to no end with his incessant need to post long-winded soliloquies that ultimately ended up in his demise on OB. Soliloquies only in the fact that people stopped reading them after a while. But it was rather fun to try and dissect his posts when he was too busy trying to refute points that didn't even need refuting. A prime example of thinking just a little too hard. Becoming a Mod: Although I'm newer on the Mod list, it was certainly exciting to see that PM from Desbreko in my inbox. Now I don't think I could imagine OB without all my cool little mod powers. Kaimaster: Remember this little bugger? He made me lol near to death when he thought that Obama being elected signaled the end of days for all of Christianity. Fun times, for sure. Raiha: I can almost set my watch to when she IM's me on AIM. It's become a daily ritual to speak to her at some point. Crimson Spider: This is another example of pseudo-intellectuals who can't let bygones be bygones. Crim made it a point to try and dissect points of others posts and try to prove his points ultimately superior. Any member who wanted to question his logic or dared find his reasoning to be untrue was met with a long post that often times didn't end up too well for either side. Caused a lot of arguments and didn't really do anything to help himself by continuing his line of behavior. Although I must admit, his posts were certainly a sight to see.
I knew I was forgetting someone who helped with the banners, and that person is Korey. I'm sorry Korey. I'm a bad person. You and your banners are awesome. Thank you. It's currently in arcades across America, but it's a pretty well kept secret. I heard that BB will be hitting American console shores some time in the summer, but the game is not just another GG-iteration. It's not so free form as GG was. Basically any launch in GG led to big damage and most likely death, but it doesn't seem to be the case with BlazBlue. I've seen some big combos but nothing that screams GG retardedness (yet very stylish-ness) lols.

Kudos to everyone who made the list. Great job on the banners too everyone. It is really great to see the artists of OB hard at work. My personal favorite banner was Shy's. 2 Nifty, 2 Quifty. Congrats to everyone again and to another year of being nifty!

Lovely. I do my usual daily visit, but I'm afraid it's normally only to check my section and see if anything needs moderation. Luckily almost everyone who posts in my section is really good natured and posts well, so it's normally just a quick glance and gone. Now that I'm involved in a few RP's, I do check on those. It's actually part of my daily net routine.

Nah, there's no other thread for KZ2, so we're all good here. If I ever get out of my SFIV craze (which is most likely to happen, since all the people on XBL play Ken and do the same dang things), I 'll get to playing Killzone2. I enjoyed KZ1 and KZ2 doesn't look like it would dissappoint. Something I've come to realize in many FPS games is that they simulate the pulling of a trigger very well in the games. My dad pointed out to me why my shots were off target in Medal of Honor. It seems like they have simulated pulling a trigger down to the T, so if you pull a shot by squeezing the trigger too fast, then it messes up your shot. Just like in real life shooting. That's pretty interesting.

Misleading title is misleading. I hear a lot about the economy and while it's easily the biggest isssue impacting Americans today, I have been noticing the opposite trend you mention. Maybe it's a tomaytoe, tomahtoe issue, but I was just noticing things and being the contemplative guy I am, I had to wonder aboutg that.
-
With Americans losing jobs by the thousands, it's no secret that our economy is in a bit of a slump, but I think there's another issue at hand here. The camaraderie of American people. I noticed this the other day while walking to class. People just seem to have a low tolerance for other people and are extremely clique-ish in most settings. Maybe it's the pursuit of like-minded people that prevails in these sorts of situations, but I find it disenfranchising when I can't even say hi to someone that is passing me by and giving me the staredown like I have lepracy. I can also see it in the way neighbors talk to each other in our part of town. Most of the time, I don't even see our neighbors unless they are outside picking up the paper or their mail. I remember not too long ago, our best friends were our neighbors. I normally say hello to our neighbors if they pass me by or I them. But for the most part, people are very seclusive and keep their business to themselves. And stereotyping, geez. Any kid with long hair that covers his face is automatically labeled as an emo skater who is depressed and smokes pot all day while listening to Coheed and Cambria. It's getting to the point now where outward appearances are everything to people and can determine your social circles with little regards to personality types. Maybe I'm seeing this too narrow mindedly, but I guess I'm in the old guard when it comes to these sorts of things. I hang around all sorts of people. I know people who smoke marijuana, are "emo", are gay, or even of a different ethnicity. I'm very eclectic when it comes to my social circle and I feel like an oddity in today's culture. I'm sure cliques have existed for as long as free choice has reigned, but it just gives off a negative vibe to me when people can judge each other so harshly based upon the way they decide to groom themselves (or not). This makes me wonder....have American people gotten to the point where they are so culturally exclusive that our nation's collective spirit has broken off into cultural factions that are so different, that they mirror the Sharks and the Jets of yore? Has the meaning of the words United States frizzled out to a sense of localistic pride that results in negative stereotyping of other states (excluding past jokes on the lovely Beehive State)? I've ranted for long enough, let's hear what the masses have to say.
