That's basically what you're saying, so in turn Zelda was stale after the first one. Along with every RTS ever made, and any RPGs. Your logic is downright flawed so you might as well just say you don't like FPS style games. Lucky for you Dead Space is an over-the-shoulder shooter with more style than Rick James.
Dang right Zelda got stale with its gameplay formula (go around, beat some dungeons, get to Ganon, beat his ***, rinse, repeat). Same can be said of MegaMan (beat the 8 bosses, have a collection level where you beat them all again, fight the final boss.). I knew that if I took a stab towards FPS games that you would respond in turn and I'm not here to have an argument with you over the style of games we both prefer. IN MY OPINION, FPS games lack something that really innovates the genre anymore. To make my argument a little more clear, lets look at some of the other innovative titles. Doom- Really the grandfather of FPS and just really dang fun. Totally worth its salt and really sped up the series development. Half Life- Brought storytelling to the forefront of FPS. Valve's storytelling ability with that title just soared and made this game an instant classic. Hell, I still pop it in sometimes myself. Goldeneye- Even if it was based on a movie, this game rocked. Great multiplayer modes, decent single player mode, fun firefights. This is what initially got me into this type of game. I'm going to skip some titles (Perfect Dark, Halo, Counterstrike) because I did find those games to be great, but not over the top awesome. Half Life 2- Man this game reeked awesome. Valve hit it on the head here too. Great way to follow up the first game with an even more impressive second outing. After that there have been some impressive games (BioShock, Crysis), but nothing that tops what the original innovators did IN MY OPINION. Feel free to disagree. Now more on topic, I'm gonna take a look at this title when I go to my friend's house later today. I'll have a more in depth analysis when I get back.
Compared to...?
Every other horror FPS? I've played F.E.A.R. , a little bit of Half Life 2 (wouldn't consider that horror, but anyways) , Halo 3, BioShock, Crysis...etc. I found them all basically cookie cutter designs with new worlds to explore and different features in all of them. Thus my skepticism.

Drizzt, I fixed your spoiler tags. Make sure to use /spoiler instead of \spoiler in the future. ^_~ I'm thinking about getting Dead Space, but I'm not entirely sold on it yet. It takes a lot for me to get into any sort of FPS game ( I find them horribly generic now a days). I hope that the storytelling elements are at least decent enough to keep me occupied for the brief time that I will play it (for me it's one playthrough and done). Can you mention a little bit more about the storyline and some of the nifty features that this title boasts above, say Half Life?

While I haven't played very many soccer games, I am a big fan of international soccer and would probably play this game at least once or twice, but I wouldn't consider this game more than a rental. I'm not too big on sports games, but I would at least give this game a chance, just to see what it's like. As far as teams go, I'd be totally unoriginal and pick either Real Madrid or Chelsea. Maybe even Manchester United if the mood struck me.
Another one is "The Thing" that was a stupid video game. Well at least I called it stupid 'cause I ended up killing some of my men and they killed my character.............
I don't think this qualifies the game as being stupid. I think that qualifies you doing something to your men and they retaliated. Standard modern Video Game fare. Found another one to add to my list of horrible games. Superman 64. Dear lord, I never thought that playing as the Man of Steel would be so darn frustrating. Really REALLY buggy controls, shoddy graphics (Metropolis never looked more like a giant geometry class than this) unclear mission objectives (Lex Luthor wins because I didn't fly through this ring? OMG HAX!), this game was just awful. Total misfire and almost ruined Supes's chances of ever getting another game ever again.

Right now I've been plugging away with Guilty Gear X2: Accent Core. It's the latest revision of the X2 series and probably the best one in my opinion, although some GG heads prefer Slash, I dunno why. It's got a colorful cast of characters with a bizzare array of weapons, like Yo-Yo's, Guitars, Giant Scalpel's and even the girl from The Ring! The game is very fast paced and very hard to master, because it's deeper than it looks. But if you're looking for a great game that is a welcome diversion from Capcom and Namco fighters, then I would definitely suggest you pick this one up. The older versions of the game (X2, #Reload, Slash) all go for 20 bucks now, so it's easy on your wallet too.
However, I think AIM would be a much better format since it has a lot more flexibility with the actual chat window. If you get very many people in at theOtaku's chat, then the conversation can scroll quicker than you can even read it, so it's very limited in that respect. So I say we find a time or a day, and use something like AIM.
I need to turn off the AIM noise whenever a new message pops up, I'm off doing something else and I think someone's saying something to me and waiting for a new window to pop up in my face when it's only the Group Chat thing going off. Hey lemme know though and I'll try my best to make it.

What the hell is going on? They must have found us. That's alright, because I have some anger to get out anyways. My thoughts were racing as I bounded into the backyard and waited for them to show up. My work would be cut out for me compared to Grace and Carol. Unlike them, I had no projectile weapons to assist me. I had to be careful not to charge in too far, lest I be surrounded. I readied myself, and felt my heartbeat rise as I heard them coming closer and closer. You could always hear eaters coming, ambling along clumsily, almost tripping over themselves. Their hunger for more memories always threw them into a frenzy, especially when I was around. I finally picked up their distinct shriek. It was one to drive a person insane. Ever heard of nails against the chalk board? Try a metal garden rake against a chalkboard, then you'll get it. The first wave pounced over the wall. This was odd. seeing as Eaters mostly were solitary hunters and only came in packs if they were part of a scavenging group trying to pick up the scraps left by the original Eater. There was something coordinated to their attack. I charged in, meeting an eater with an uppercut in the lower jaw as it sprang at me. I sent the creature flying with a fierce straight punch to its disfigured facade. Then the inevitable happened. I was surrounded by three of them who took the opportunity of keeping Grace and Carol busy with flanking attacks. This was bad. They all sprang at me. I took the first two out with palm strikes to their abdomens but I couldn't stop the third, who sprang from behind me. I looked back, with a genuine fear in my eyes. How could I have been so stupid. To my surprise, the Eater exploded right in front of me, drenching me with its purple blood. Then I heard the familiar sound of a sniper rifle follow it. I looked towards the house and saw a gun barrel smoke and a flash of a scope. Eros was watching the entire time, waiting for a clear shot. Good to know that I had backup. I smirked and continued fending them off in droves. These were weaker variety Eaters. Not too hard to deal with, just annoying in numbers. I wondered at the quantity of them. Eaters didn't attack in these numbers. I heard Grace whistle, signaling for me to pull back. I had gone out too far, even for Eros to cover me. I sprinted back towards the house and waited for the second wave to come in. There was always a second wave. Then it hit me... "THE FIRST ONE WAS A SCOUT! THEY WERE TRYING TO SEE IF WE'D ATTACK IT!! WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE NOW!!" I screamed back to the house. They were going to overrun us. Nothing left to do but run now.

Meh, I already talk to members via AIM and theotaku.com's community chat. Lots of regulars here (Sangome, Allamorph, SunfallE, Indi...etc) all inhabit that chatroom almost every day. In fact, we've already had a bunch of memorable moments that are included in Sangome's "Chat logs of Doom". I wouldn't be against this idea in the least, but it would take a large amount of planning to get everyone online at the same time. I guess it's just easier for me to continue on the path I'm already treading, but by all means...go for it.

I guess my "Obsession" would be DDR. I've played the game for several years and own every PS2 console Version from DDR MAX2 and up (Still have yet to pick up Max 1). I play the game mostly at arcades, however. The home versions are very nice, but my pad isn't up to snuff with DDR pads in the arcade. I do have most of the soundtracks from 4th mix all the way to the most current mixes. So yeah, I guess you could say I'm obsessed with DDR. Enough to make a Youtube Page showing off my DDR talent. Shamless plug? Perhaps. But when have I ever been one to show any sort of shame?
I've noticed this as well and usually i only play with the people from my work because most of the other people take it way too seriously. BTW do you play with a fighting stick or a gamepad?
I play on a joystick, more specifically a Hori EX2. I got it at a steal for $40 at Gamestop here. It's the special Dead or Alive 4 edition to. Don't get me wrong, I do like 3S on GGPO for being able to play people I'd normally have to travel to play. It's wicked fun, and sometimes I wish I lived in Southern California so I could kick it with Gootecks, Pyrolee, Sextaro, Arlieth and all the killer guys from Family Fun Arcade.
1.) I find this to be one of my favorite games and fighters of all time 2.) I like playing as Ryu but Yun is a fun charater as well 3.) I think this is one of the better capcom fighters because it doesnt have any of the infinite combos that some of the others do (those really ruin the game in my opinion). its also very fluid compared to the alpha series because of the graphics acceleration. I'm trying to stay away from this gave for the time being because SF4 is coming out in February of next year. But i still play it ever now and again, especially on GGPO (awesome program if you havent used it)
Actually, I do play on GGPO quite often. Not 3S because the game is very buggy and hard to play at the level I'm used to (landing unblockables, Actually being able to meaty attack without being wakeup parried, no lucky wakeup throws that hit from outside kara-throw range....). Also I don't like the community on GGPO. It's like 3S is their life and they take it so seriously to talk smack about each other. I just play my bit, and only harass my friends on there. I actually prefer playing Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Vampire Savior on there. To revise my characters, I only use Urien at the moment. I've learned a lot from a professional player that I have contact with through AIM and my game has leveled up damn quick. Hopefully I can arrange some time with my buddies here and I can show off my newfound skills. ^_~
What do you mean by "sheltered"?
Most likely that the topic is sorta confined, but anyways... Games that scare me? Hmm that's almost never the case but there are games that were sorta freaky and had moments that made me jump. For example, when
the zombie pops out of the furnace in RE4, the first time that happened it scared me
or any part in Fatal Frame. I'm not scared of those games, but it's very cool to have them. Constantine and DMC3 being scary? Maybe I'm just desensitized to this stuff, but I don't find either of those games scary in the least. They're both action games that offer little to no scare value besides the fact that you fight monsters. I'd say you'd need to delve into the survival-horror and science fiction shooter genres a little bit before you say that these games are scary. So play games like Resident Evil ,Doom 3 , Silent Hill ...etc so you can really be scared. ^_~

I paused and looked at Yamiko. It was an indignant stare full of hate and malice. This girl was so naive, so unaware of the hell that's been going around and the reason why we're all here is because we share an ability? I snickered at the thought. "I don't care about the 'reason' we're all here. Frankly I don't believe in that kind of thing. Fate is something that you make happen yourself. It isn't predestination or anything like that. Don't be so stupid to think that we were destined to meet each other. Curiosity killed the cat in both our cases, yours ending up with a swift kick to the gut." "Now now, children I won't take arguing at my table. If you have issues, you need to work them out because we'll be spending a long time here. I'm not asking you to like each other, I'm asking you to respect each other enough to not hurt each other," Carol quipped. I sat in silence and ate my meal without objection. I had been scrounging around for whatever food I could obtain, often breaking into dilapidated supermarkets or corner stores to grab whatever hadn't rotted yet. Carol definitely knew how to cook and the thought of a home-cooked meal actually reminded me of a meal that me and my brother shared once. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Just think about it baby, would you?" My brother quipped as he stuffed another bite of food into his mouth. "I don't know, Jason it's a little sudden. I mean, I love you and all, but I'm not ready to make that kind of commitment yet." his girlfriend said under a shaky tone. "Well, if you change your mind...my offer still stands," Jason replied as he gave her a quick peck on the cheek. Ugh, I hated spending time with my brother and his girlfriend, Arlene. She was my epitome of fakers. She was so pure, so virginal that it made me sick. Their relationship was something out of a storybook. My brother had met her at a party he attended and they hit it off real fast. They always made every decision mutually and almost never had a serious argument. They were always happy and smiling and kissing. Blech, what a load of BS. Jason turned to me and smiled. "So Korey, what have you been up to? It's been ages since we've spoken." " Nothing in particular, you know me." " Got any giirrrrrrllllll prospects?" he teased. I shot him a glare. He smirked, knowing that was the one thing that ruffled my feathers. "Not as of yet, although I must say I haven't done much looking." "I need to take you out then, show you a good time. I know tons of girls who would flock to you. I mean, you're my brother, so you're not that ugly." I actually smirked at that comment. As much I didn't like my brother and Arlene, my brother was actually nice to have on occasion. Mostly I just hated him for his popularity. He never had to try, it just came to him. So it was easy to say that kind of thing. "Well, maybe I'll go this weekend. Why the hell not?" "Alright! That's the spirit!" Arlene giggled and I just sat there and finished my meal. I realized I couldn't shut out my brother, because he was the only family I had left. Deadbeat dad, and mom died a few years ago. My brother had a hell of a time raising me by himself, but he demanded that I was not placed in foster care or in care of other family members. Somehow, he did it. I smiled a half smile again and with that my dream was interrupted by Grace's voice... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Oh, so the boy can smile. That's nice to know. Care to share with the rest of the class?" " Oh just bringing up something I actually care to remember. If you're a good girl, I might tell you," I teased. I sighed and was brought back into reality. Jason was dead, so was Arlene. Everyone was gone. No more nights, no more pain. I realized that while the past was important, that my brother wasn't coming back. Now I have to live for him, because he is me....in a sense.

You silly little duckies aren't quite old enough to remember it, but I can't believe no one has mentioned ET for the Atari. That was by far the worst game ever concocted. Horrible graphics, even for Atari standards, awful game-play, buggy and glitchy as hell. The game just oozed so much fail that it is actually legendary now for it. I'm one of the privileged few to actually play that piece of garbage and suffer through it's horrors. Another game I find particularly awful is Donkey Kong 64. I loved the SNES games to death and the original DK is a classic, for sure. This game basically was a big fart in the face of all Donkey Kong fans. Imagine a crappily executed Banjo Kazooie. Now also imagine buying that silly memory peripheral just to play a game that had so much fail stuffed in it that it was laughable. The game was slow, buggy and just awful in general. So much hype surrounding it too. What a shame :animesigh As a fighting game fan, I'm really critical of games that hit that market and I hold them to high standards. Shaq Fu was obviously not one of those titles. This game was soooo bad, it was laughable. I mean, really really laughable. The game was broken, the controls were sloppy and hard to execute and Shaq was actually the worst character in the game! My friends and I play it for lolz now over the internet. Just to keep this crappy game alive...somehow >>
