Day 1 of Kiruna's grand vacation had begun. He set his things down in his room. He was kind of disappointed at the accomidations he was afforded, seing as his mom owned the hotel, but he learned that some official's son had rented out the penthouse suite. Kiruna was never one to let that sort of thing bother him. The room afforded him a bed, a couch with a matress in it, a mini fridge and microwave, A large TV and for some reason, a large mirror right next to his bed, which Kiruna jokingly acknowledged it being there for the exhibitionists. He went to restroom and took a shower, to try and freshen up while he waited for his friends. While he was showering, his cell phone rang. When Kiruna's voicemail picked up, a familiar voice could be heard on the speaking end. "ummm...hi Kiru-kun. I'm just callin to let you know I'm on my way and that I'll be there soon. I can't wait to see you again! BYEEEEEE!" Such a voice only belonged to Skye, who had changed dramatically since Kiru last saw her. After Kiruna graduated, he had many issues that he had to work out. His relationship with Natsu had faded, due to Kiruna's carefee spirit and Natsu's overwhelming attitude. Skye had not lost her girlishness, but you could tell that she had matured from her highschool days. As Kiruna stepped out of the shower and changed into his outfit for the day, a gray pair of shorts with a black tank top and white long sleeved overshirt...he listened to the message and smiled. Just then there was a knock at the door. Kiruna lazily made his way to the door, suffering from the aftereffects of the long drive out to the hotel. He opened the door and no was there. Kiruna peered out into the hall and saw that nobody was there. As he closed the door and turned around, a large figure jumped out from behind him and screamed "BOOO!!!!!" Kiruna jumped and fell backward, startled by the sudden appearance of this person. The figure just laughed at Kiruna and said.... "Hahahahaha! I always get you with that old trick Kiru! When are you gonna stop being soooooo predictable?" "Shoulda known it was you Inuko. Why are you here?" *Inuko gasps* "Why am I here? Because, dear cousin, your mommy wanted me to stalk you! To be honest though, I asked to come here. I haven't seen you in a while cousin!" She excitedly hugs Kiruna and then dashes off to her room. Kiruna stands there in amazement of his cousin's behavior. Weird or not, Kiruna loved his family and Inuko had been a part of his life for a long time. He wouldn't trade her eccentric behavior for anything. Kiruna smiled and closed the door and waited for his company to arrive. OOC: try writing this while listening to caramell dansen....no easy task...lol

i dunnoz whats' uz fools is talking abut...i postz the same wayz as i did ovah 5 yrs ago! :D :D :D :D :D I merely jest. For a corollary to this little discussion, I started up a continuation of an old RP that I started over 4 years ago and it was funny to read through the thread and see how hyper I was and the lack of proper grammar and spelling. I've seen a noticiable change in my posting style. When I was younger, I was all hyper in my posts and now I've mellowed out and really don't post with the same "OMG I'm on OTAKUBOARDS!!! :D " kind of style. I tend to still use smilies, but they're few and far in between now. My posts used to be littered with smilies. No offense to people who use smilies, but you gotta know the stopping point of those. For me at least, it tends to make me look at the smilies and the words that you type. :D :D :D :D :D (I'm such a rascal)

This was a thread I started quite a while ago( about '04) and I thought I'd start it back up, one last hurrah. Here's the story... ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kiruna arrived at the Ohjyo Grand Palms Hotel in semi-grand fashion. His limo driver yelled to him as he left "Have fun Mr. Etsune! Be careful!" Kiruna laughed and waved back at his driver. As he sped off, Kiruna looked at how life had been these past few years. He had graduated from high school and was attending college, he had a pretty bad breakup with his former girlfriend, Natsu. But one thing always remained constant with him, his best friends Skye and Jacob. Kiruna's mom had paid for them to have a week long vacation at one of the hotels she owned. The hotel was a resort and located right on the beach. The scene was picture-esque. The sea spray hit Kiruna's face and it was a refreshing change from the dank, gloomy and crowded Tokyo streets. Kiruna looked forward to meeting his friends and possibly meeting more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's all the info that you'll need Name: Age: Gender: Description: (general physical description) Biography: backstory about the character. Include personality details here An example would be.... Name: Kiruna Etsune Age: 19 Gender: Male Description: Kiruna is a medium/athletic build person with dark brown hair and green eyes. He is normally wearing very casual clothes, but for the summer time, he wears board shorts and muscle shorts. Biography: Kiruna is a very kind person who often seems very distant and aloof, but he is actually a very personable person towards those he cherishes the most. He is very loyal and protective of his friends. He's been experiencing a sort of depression since his breakup with Natsu, and has been sort of hesitant to pursue any sort of relationship. He's also a trained martial artist, he was trained in the art of Judo by his grandfather. He follows the true mantra of Judo and takes a very defensive attitude toward his art. He will never strike an opponent in an agressive manner. ~~~~~~~~ For those who are interested in joining, try to weave your story into that of the other characters. Some ideas would include, fellow students of Kiruna, Skye or Jacob; People vacationing at the Hotel; or whatever you can come up with. Good luck and let's see how it's gonna turn out :D

I'm saddened to hear about your struggles, Lunox. It sucks to know that you've worked so hard to get into those dream schools and it didn't work out. I've learned that kind of lesson before the hard way. Sometimes, things just don't work out the way we want them to, no matter how hard you try to make them happen that way. But I hope you learned that perseverance through problems will show others what kind of person you are. Even if you never go to an Ivy League school or what have you, your personality of never giving up on your dreams will mean a lot more than some slip of paper from Emory. Right now I attend New Mexico State University and I'm paying my own way through college. I'm working two jobs and juggling friends, school and that all at the same time. It's a rough life, but I'd rather do it this way than anything else. It will give me the real world skills I need to get through life's tougher challenges...so take that as food for thought.

Hello o wonderous artists of OB. I'd like to get in a an AV, banner set if I could...I've been engrorssed with Souten No Ken or Fist of the Blue Sky and I wanna have a nifty little set... For the Av, if you could use this picture.... and do some nifty things with it, but try to keep the moon in it. I leave the choice up to you as to what effects you wanna add. For the banner, I wanna use this picture http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4185/deadfu5.jpg If you could keep Kenshiro and the bad guy in it, and add the phrase "You are already dead" to it and my username, that'd be much appreciated. Feel free to add whatever effects you wish to it...thanks again! :D ~Korey
Rock Band, or any of these games, are still fun even if you know how to play the real instruments. My friends love GH and Rock Band and also play Guitar, I've been playing the drums for almost 5 years now and I still love playing drums on Rock Band (because I'm good at it, haha).
Lol, thanks to RL drumming, I got some wicked skills for the freestyle sections in Rock Band. I'm not saying these games aren't fun or that it's just a shameless gimmick of real instruments. I love busting out Rock Band sometimes when I'm with friends, but as a musician, I like the feel of my drums better :catgirl:
Right now I'm listening to stuff by Modest Mussorgsky: Night on Bald Mountain If you've seen Fantasia then it's likely that you are familiar with this piece.
Why yes, yes I am Rach :D We played that piece one year in it's entireity for a Halloween concert for Band. It was fun to play it. I like how they included it in Kingdom Hearts as well. It's an aweseome piece and Mussorgsky is a really great composer. I also like some classical music, but sometimes I like when it's fused with modern musical styles. That's why I've been listening to the soundtracks from Ace Combat 4 and Ace Combat 5. I suggest you give the songs Agnus Dei and The Unsung War (the former being from AC4 and the latter AC5). They have videos of the songs on youtube if i'm not mistaken. Great songs, with neat little modern influences that bring the two worlds together.
Sense all of us play video games whats your top 3 games. 1. Fable 2. Sims 3. Halo
Top three games? Oh you make it so hard to pick....:animestun If I had to boil it down to three games.... 1)Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo- The mack Daddy of fighting games. Everyone's played this game before in their life. Whether it's a just a mess around or a serious competition, everyone who has picked up a controller knows what Street Fighter is. 2)Dance Dance Revolution- This game is it right here. I can't get enough of stomping on arrows. The game has really catchy music, even if it's foreign, heh. I've been playing the game for about 5 years and I'm really happy with how much I can do compared to what I could do at the beginning. I suggest everyone gives the game a shot, it might grow on you too. 3)Super Mario Kart- This game, is called....Mario Kart...and it was made....in 92. :p To get back on point, it's a really fun, addicting racing game. Lots of people have played and enjoyed it. Heck, I grew up on it before MK64 came out, which I played to death as well. Those games are pure fun and I'm glad Nintendo graced us with their presence. In hindsight of this post, maybe this part of the discussion should have been taken to Hardwired....lol
Not everyone has the time or talent for that sort of thing but they still like to play music. That's pretty much the reason rhythm games exist.
Time, maybe. Talent? Nah, anyone can learn an instrument if they really dedicated themselves to it. It's not like people are pre-destined from birth with the ability to dance, be a DJ, or play an instrument. It's all what you decide to dedicate yourself to. But I digress...
-
I think it's overall better just to play a REAL instrument, but I may be wrong. I played Rock Band for a little while and I still would rather go back to real instruments any day of the week.
You don't need to know my real name. Just stick to knowing my screen name. *cue dramatic secret agent theme music* I like reading...especially manga. I also like to draw. Although, I am mostly interested in doing is chibis, hence, the name. I love animals! My favorite animals are owls, foxes wolves, dogs, dragons and RACCOONS!!! I like running, so I naturally love track! Check out my profile for further info. That's about all you need to know, for now. *cue the smoke bomb and secret floor exit*
Meh, I'm stuck cause my SN is my real name....lol I dunnno what kind of wrestling you do, 3minds, but mine never involved submission attempts, because that's not allowed in Folkstyle, Greco Roman or Freestyle wrestling. "profictional" wrestling does that stuff, as well as Mixed Martial Arts.
what fighting style do you have? I know boxing, wreastling, kickboxing, and learning some muay ti
I should shoot you for mispelling wrestling :( I did wrestling in High School for four years. It was probably the best experience of my life. I wasn't really an agressive sort of guy in any way or fashion. People used to take advantage of me pretty easily, but when I became a part of wrestling, I learned how to assert myself in life more and people didn't take advantage of me because they saw how assertive and confident I could be. Plus, wrestling is one of the most intense, hardest, most underappreciated sports of our time. I'd put the training of wrestlers above that of Football, Basketball, Baseball and any other sport besides Swimming or other Combat Sports. Nothing taken away from them, of course, but Wrestlers train hard and do many tasks that many ordinary people couldn't perform. My coach was the greatest too. He wasn't one of those gung-ho mean coach types, he was all about strategy and playing to his wrestlers strengths. He had a ton of experience in the sport and could teach many different styles and techniques within wrestling. He was also a master motivator and a great listener. I could go to him for anything. I really respect him as a person and am glad that I shared four years of my life with him and the wrestling team. Some of my fondest memories come from there. /nostalgia :P
That's true, too. But as I've stated, I've became a lot less competitive and prefer single player based games now. I stay away from playing online because at any given chance, I will cheat, and I don't want to go through the complaints :). There are still a few fighting games out there that I would attempt to play, but at this moment I just don't find this new stuff interesting.
Haha I don't think it's hard to cheat online, but good players won't play people who "cheat" (lag the game on purpose, disconnect before losses [which plagues XBL but not the program I play on], harass other players). I love older fighting games more so than the newer stuff, especially anything made from 92-98 (street fighter 2, Vampire Savior, Tekken 3...etc) I like playing the newer stuff too, but not as much as the oldies. :D
-
While it's true, once those games are finished, they get boring, but the same can be said about fighting games
I have to disagree on that one Phenom. Fighting games do get boring when you beat them in the single player mode, but I think when you have adequate competition in your local area, the games never get old. I play fighters online now and the never ending competition keeps me on edge and really can help most people see things or do thing that they never thought was possible before on a fighter. So I think fighting games have almost virtually inifinite replayablility.

Right now I'm hooked on Lifehouse and that song You and Me. My girlfriend kinda got the song stuck in my head. I don't mind because it reminds me of her and makes me happy. I need to pick up the tabs so I can play it for her :catgirl: I'm also listening to Calling You by Blue October Irisby The Goo Goo Dolls When Two are One by Atreyu Hand of Blood by Bullet for my Valentine She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5 Brompton Cocktail by Avenged Sevenfold

I just hit the 100 hour mark on Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7. The game kept me hooked through the story, but now I'm doing all the side missions and unlocking some pretty sweet items. The game just oozes greatness. I'm sure by now I've logged over 100 hours on Tekken: Dark Ressurection too. That game sees heavy rotation on my PSP. I'd rather play it on the PS3 though, because the PSP wasn't really built for fighting games. Some inputs are quite difficult. :animesigh
Hmm. I have to say I have never played Streetfighter, unfortuantly. (disregard my horrible spelling), and, it takes true talent to master all the special moves of the characters of MK. scratch that. it takes true talent to master all the special moves of one character. i'm not really into games like call of duty just because history isn't my favorite subject. and i agree with drizzt (or was it korey) do not get learn about history wars from video games. very misleading.
Well...I wouldn't say it's talent to master the special moves, more like just memorization. Like for Ryu in Street Fighter, I know how to throw fireballs, how to do his special uppercut and how to do his spinning kick (I know the official names of these, just trying to describe them) . It's not really talent that helped me, but just knowing what the motions are and memorizing them. I think it would take more talent to memorize things like, what move beats what, which moves are the safest, how to play defensively, how to lock an opponent down. All the best players in the world worry about this more than just special moves. I don't learn history from games either...those games are often very skewed in their views and provide what it MAY have been like in those times. They are providing a simulation, not a re-enacment. Granted, some of CoD's missions are based on combat situations.

I've heard a few...lemme whip out my guitar first :D I'm Korey and these are some jokes.... I bought a cactus last month and yesterday it died. I thought 'Damn, I'm less nurturing than a desert'. I bought some pajamas with pockets in them, which is great because I used to have to hold stuff while I slept. I saw a sign the other day that said 'Watch for Children' and I said 'That sounds like a fair trade'. Batteries are the most dramatic object of all the objects. Other things break or stop working, but batteries.....they die. 'How come you're not listening to your walkman?' ' I can't, my batteries died in my lap this morning'. With batteries you're either working or you're dead. That's a ******* life. I remember when I used to be nostalgic. I think they got lazy naming animals after a while. Anteater? 'What's it doing?' Eating ants', 'ANTEATER.....DONE' I think they named oranges before any other orange food, like carrots. It's like 'What are these? They're orange....Oranges.' 'But what about these?' 'Damn..........long pointies?' Sort of is an interesting phrase, because it's so harmless...it's just an add on. But it can mean everything if you put in the right phrases like....I love you....or You're gonna live.....or IT'S A BOY!!! If you wanna sound like a creep, put the word ladies after every sentence. It can be pretty harmless like "thanks for coming to my show, ladies" or "Help I'm stuck in a well and I can't get out, ladies" C'mon it's like a jacuzzi with really high walls, you know you want it..c'mon. Thanks for listening to those jokes.....ladies. (All jokes originally told by Demitiri Martin)
