I'll assume, then, that you guys have taken a gander at that DragonForce monster they added as a bonus track? I thought the band was Finnish, from the way the track sounded at first. And holy Moses, but the part is a beast.
Dragon Force's song is definitely a beast, but the whole game got took up three notches...my fingers are still aching. I haven't even completed the whole game on expert yet (including the bonus tracks). I'm trying to get 95% or better on all the songs, but this is definitely gonna be a month or so in the works. I'm probably gonna become a ghost on here thanks to Guitar Hero....:animestun
I recently bought Guitar Hero III and dude, that game is awesome, like the last one.... but, there's room for improvement, like the fact that they should of picked Hunting For Witches or Skeleton instead of Helicopter and I really do hate ending a session, in order to turn on two wireless guitars, and the constant autosave is pretty annoying. yea, I've been playing it since last saturday, but had to hang the axe up because I've been having sharp pain in my left hand.
Meh, I loved the set list for GH3, I just think that Rock Band is gonna blow it out of the water with the full band experience. Is it me or did they pick the longest, most difficult guitar rock possible. One on expert will slice your fingers off and feed them to rabid gerbils who have been deliberately starved for a couple of days. This is a really awesome game, and the Co-op career is a neat little feature. My friends and I love to play battle mode, because of the douchebaggery that abounds when you do stuff like break the whammy bar or double the notes. :animesigh Sadly we haven't talked in the past few days...
I dislike Thanksgiving. First, I don't like turkey... at all. Of course, that's what my family serves every year. And since my parents are divorced, I end up having two Thanksgiving meals; perhaps 3, now that my mom is remarried. I have to put up with two gigantic meals, and I usually get yelled at at one or the other for not eating enough. Hmph. Plus I just generally dislike holidays for some reason.
The turkeys of the world appreciate your abstinence. Do you replace the turkey with ham or something? That's what my family does...we have Turkey and Ham, for those who dislike one or the other. I sure would hate having to cram down more than one thanksgiving meal a year...because mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce only taste good the FIRST time. It's kind of an awkward situation that your family puts you in by making you eat both, because you don't wanna be mean and not eat one, but yet your body won't allow it. Quite a predicament, indeed.
Or we can hush up about the Orange Box and play some Call of Duty 4! Its too awesome for words. Wiki it.
*Goes to Wikipedia*
Call of Duty 4[/B'] is a stupid first person shooter that has some obvious design flaws. It has no where near the addictive gameplay or multiplayer mayhem that is known as Team Fortress 2. Oh and if you haven't guessed this is a joke to throw you guys off...then the jokes on you. Don't believe everything you read! ^_~
Nah, I jest. CoD4 is pretty boss, but I'm still waiting for Smash Bros Brawl and various others. I did score some hands on time with Rock Band today. That game is gonna blow Guitar Hero out of the water when it drops. Assuming you can pay the hefty price tag for the entire ensemble (cause playing just with one of the instruments is soooooo lame). :animesigh
I have just recently gotten into this neat ol' game called Team Fortress 2. And I would explain it to you, but it's just too awesome for words. So go wiki it.
Never mind that, let's just sing TF2's praises here! For those who haven't got the Orange Box yet, I would definitely suggest it, even if you're not a huge fan of FPS games. The games are just so awesome, it's hard to describe them without sounding like a fanboy. First off you get Half Life: Episode 1 and 2. . Anyone who has played Half Life 2 knows how awesome this game is. Not much to say here, except that it is wicked fun and is definitely worth looking at. You will get hooked. Next up is Portal, which is a Half Life 2 mod where you use the various weapons, mostly the anti-grav gun to propel yourself through various puzzles and so forth. It gets pretty hard at the later stages, but it is a rather short game. It's a neat premise though. I'd like to see another larger installment of this game. Lastly is Team Fortress 2. This game is the second installment in the Team Fortress series (duh), and it is evolves upon the Team Fortress Classic formula and still keeps the addictive formula of the first game. I haven't bought the Orange Box yet, but I did get to play some TF2 at a friend's house and now I log into his XBox Live Account and play a ton of TF2 until he calls me and tells me to get off his account so he can play. It's kinda funny, because I'm a much better player than he is, so there is some confusion to how good his screen name is. Some people go "is the REAL n0b0dy here? or is your little brother playing again?"

Aside from this year, where I have to work throughout the Thanksgiving holiday week, our Thanksgiving's are really nothing special from anyone else's. We like to put together a lot of food and hang out and watch football games and such. This year is going to be a tad different, because I'm the only male above age 16 there and I won't be available to cook or anything until after 6 cause I'll have to work that day and I'm already dreading it. All those carts in the parking lot kinda scare me, lol. As far as traditions we have, we always cook a ton of food, the normal Thanksgiving stuff. Our family always brings the desserts and I've gotta say, I'm a pretty good cook (shamless brag:rolleyes:) when it come to making pies and other baked goods. We normally watch football, but this year will be different since all of the dads in our friends' families are all gone to Korea, so we probably won't be watching much football. I'm probably gonna do something cool though for Thanksgiving and visit my girlfriend and she how she's doing, then head home and stuff my face with cold Thanksgiving leftovers. Yum.

I've been waiting for this one for a long time, cause I've had some cool ideas and need to put them into fruition, but it's kind of intimidating to be a member and posting them. Onto the Questions... What is your availability? For instance, if you held an event where you had to tally votes, you might need to invest more time than usual. I have no problem with being available for the site. I am on the site at least once or twice every day for a good period of time and if I need to committ to spending more time on the site, then so be it. I'm here to be of service to the members. That's what's important, is that I'm here to serve the OB community. Are you happy to work with members to bring their event ideas to life? Oh absolutely! I love seeing some of the things that our members come up with, so I'd like to see that their ideas get promoted well and help make sure their ideas come to fruition. That is something I feel that the Event Master should be doing in the first place. As the Event Master, I would do my absolute best job to make sure that any idea presented by the members can come to fruition and if not possible at that time, then I would make sure there would be time to accomidate them in the near future. I'd like to point out that I'd like to see more member driven submissions rather than me coming up with stuff, not because I can't be creative, but to make sure that ideas of all sorts can be put into the fray, and others can drive their ideas off of previous ones. List two of your own event ideas here. You will need to be able to bring your own events to OB, as member-driven events will not always be available. An Annual Otakuboards Award Show. This would be something we do every year, around X-Mas time, where we would nominate people in various Categories such as (Member of the Year, Mod of the Year, most hilarious poster, most quoted in others posts, and other categories based on user submission) I would have a nomination thread going and then a voting thread. The actual awards would consist of a long post of giving out the awards to others. I would like to make little digital e-cards that we can send out to the winners in the form of a PM or e-mail. We would even have people who would act as presenters and so forth. The Otakuboards showdown: Battle of the Brains. This is a sillier premise, but I thought it'd be cool. Essentialy it's like a fight, but with skills that everyone has on the Boards...words. It's basically a verbal argument where each poster is given A topic (like abortion or practically anything that comes out of the Lounge, lol) and four posts each (one to open their argument, one to present why we should choose their argument, one to rebuke the other contestant, and one to close their argument) and the winner is decided by a panel of other members who wins the argument based on various criteria (persuasive technique, hard facts, clarity of arguments, rebuttal skills, overall speaking skill...etc). The winner would move on in a tournament style until the ultimate poster was decided. It's a little corny, but I'd like to see how people can use the skills they have available to them here on the Boards. Are you going to be committed to the job? Why should we make you Event Master? Committed isn't the right word for this...more like obsessed. I would be completely involved with the job because I love what the members of the site can come up with and I have various pipe dreams that I would like to see implemented on the site. I feel that I should be selected as Event Master because I would be there for the members and make sure that all ideas can be accomidated and considered with the utmost care. With a great community like this one, having a job to serve them would be more than an honor for me. I'm also a very easy person to get along with, I rarely try to argue with members and if I do have that rare disagreement, it is normally handled in the most respectful and tactful way possible. I never make fun of members and flame them and I always try to maintain the integrity of the boards and its members. Thank you for your time and pateince OB team Korey

When I'm sick (which is very rare, mind you) I get really sick. I don't get a small fever or something like that. I get like 103 fevers and I am queasy and upchucking all day long. So I try not to do anything too taxing. Normally I sit and read books or surf the web...trying to stay away from sites that require too much movement and eye coordination, like YouTube. Those movies that flash different images all movie long. Those make my nausea worse. If I have that rare case of not being too sick, I normally carry on as usual. It doesn't really hinder me too much to where I can't perform my normal duties during the day.
How is that a boring Halloween?! That movie was amazing. I got stuck handing out candy. Which was fine because I was doing homework all night, anyway. Since my street is a crescent we don't get a lot of trick or treaters. This year I handed out candy to four kids.
Hahaha....well I'd liken it to this. Take your favorite pizza, now eat it 50 times. Would you still think it was as awesome as the first time you ever sunk your teeth into it...probably not right? So that's why I thought that my Halloween was boring. Nothing against Howl's moving castle. The movie is frickin brilliant. Just I've watched it so many times, it's kind of lost its luster to me. Give me a few months, and I'll go back and think it's awesome again. Right now I'm enthralled with Death Note.

are you kidding? this is great!

Ha, Clurr that sounds like wicked fun. I wish I could've shared that experience with you, since I've been chased many a Halloween. This past Halloween, I was feeling kinda mellow, so I called up my girlfriend and the original plan was to hang out at my house while my mom went with my brother and sister to go trick or treating with all of our friends (I'm kinda anti social when I'm in a big group, not a whole lot of room for dissent when you're trick or treating in a big group). Somehow the plan got changed into me and my girlfriend handing out candy at one of our friends houses...and we gladly accepted. We ordered Chinese food and handed out candy to the various cretins, er children around the neighborhood (for some reason we always got a lot of ninjas and princesses). Then we sat down and watched Howl's Moving Castle together. Very boring Halloween. On Halloween's past, I've always delighted on playing pranks around the neighborhood. Not the old cliches like TPing some houses or egging cars. My pranks were of more elaborate things like putting live roaches in candy bowls to discourage those devils who think that a candy bowl sitting outside means "help yourselves". I saw teenagers once carry around burlap sacks full of candy and they would scope out houses that had candy bowls outside. So I deterred them with a little surprise inside my candy jars. Those fools ran away so fast, it was laughable. I also enjoy flattening the bike tires of those kids that I call "road vultures" they find out which houses give out the best stuff and they ride around the neighborhood and tell their friends who then ride up on their bikes and park them like 4 houses down and walk up to your door like they just found your house by walking. I'm savvy to such tomfoolery. So I decided to play vulture myself and I waited for the fools to leave and then with a few quick jabs with a box cutter into the rear tires, they soon would learn the consequences of such unfairness. I'm sure you're thinking "Why do you solve a wrong with another wrong? Wouldn't it be better to tell them to stop?" Survey says.....BZZZT! Nope, sorry. Tis Halloween and I solve problems by creating bigger ones. Plus it's way too much fun!
Well, most of the world would spell it "Theatre". Americans just have to spell things phoenetically for some reason. But since most of our visitors are American, I felt it would be most logical to stick to American spelling. We will continue to revise/edit/update as necessary, but this was definitely a bigger update than usual.
Just as a corollary to this argument...there is a slight difference in the words "theatre" and "theater" in the English language. Theater is the building itself, where people gather and watch performances, movies..etc. Theatre, on the other hand is the performing arts within a theater. Theatre is the performance, theater is the place.
I just remembered another one. I've been playing an MMO called "Tales of Pirates" lately. It's kind of fun, but one of the weirdest things is the monster sound effects. 3 Words: Deer. That. Moo. Yeah, it's crazy.
:o Really? Deer that Moo? That game has to be played by everyone now. Quick, quick, go and play it now. I'm assuming they make more cow noises when slain? My personal favorite sound effect came from Final Fantasy when you complete a battle. The victory theme is just plain awesome. It's actually a ring tone on my cell phone. Classic. I also enjoy the sounds that come out of Metal Gear Solid when they discover you. That's a shocking thing no matter how many times you've played the game. It gets really tense when you play on Extreme with the "game over if Discovered" option on. That makes the game just that more tense. A particularly great sound effect comes out of F.E.A.R. when you implant your poor unsuspecting victim with the nail gun in the face and it plasters him into a wall. That "squish" sound is just too awesome and it makes me want to do the Cyborg "BOOYAH!" from Teen Titans every time I do that.
I was just notified today that some people have sex whenever they are bored. Absolutely terrible IMO. I have no issue with cuddling with a partner when bored and maybe sharing a book, or maybe a somewhat cliche romantic scene for a couple. But sex just to relieve boredom somehow seems even worse than sex itself. Also, I kind of understand what some people are saying about the first time being awkward, but something to consider- by waiting for the first time, you get to share that awkward moment with someone you might be with the rest of your life, and later on in life might just look back at your first time and enjoy what you see.
Hmm an interesting point Odin. I've known people who use sex to alleviate boredom and I do share your view on this. There is sooooo much you can do with your partner than intercourse that can alleviate boredom. My personal favorite is cooking up a meal and sharing it with them at the nearest park. That's always fun because seeing how much trouble they took or you took to prepare the meal is heartwarming and it definitely builds on the relatationship. Ugh, I think that I took this thread's virginity because I was the first person who isn't a virgin to post. Now I feel horrible. Excuse me while I go and look at dirty pictures and whatever else us non-virgin guys do....:animesigh

Dumbest Insults & Names People Have Said to You
Korey replied to Aberinkula's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm..you people get called the strangest things....mostly my name calling existed of people calling me short or some variation of it like midget or small fry. But that was back in the day. Now a days, if I seem them, I don't seem so short after all. So the joke is really on them for hitting puberty so early. Since my name is Korey, you can imagine all the play-ons that go on with it, like Korina or Corny. Those don't really affect me at all. It's kinda funny that they would come up with something so unoriginial. I don't get insulted by name callers, because in reality they have something to hide about themselves. -
No, see, that defeats the purpose of the thread. This is a place for we virgins to weekpin solitude and be idiots. Non-virgins kill the thread. Like, see, your post was totally boring and stupid and felt like you posted JUST because your not a virgin. And anyway, you cold have at least pretended not to be a virgin and answered my damn questions.
Hmmm...I see that you are a little unclear of why I posted. Might I rectify this situation? Cause this is a good thread and I'd hate to see this die because of a miscommunication. I'm not going to pretend I'm a virgin when I'm not. I don't think pretending to be one when you're not is any sort of okay. I could have done it, but then I think I still might have leaked out that I'm not a virgin. Now as to the boringess and stupidness of my post, that's up to you. Not everyone here is a comic mastermind or a master of wit. I'm not trying to make everyone laugh or ponder the meaning of life. I wanted to twist the thread so that it can include everyone. Believe it or not, DB, virginity affects all people and even us non-virgins can add something relevant to the conversation.
Having lost your virginity does[/i'] change you in one way: your no longer a virgin and regardless of what you think of that, it IS a change. The mere presence of someone who's lost their virginity appears domineering to some of us sadder virgins, and the whole point was to create a 'virgin haven.' Having someone who's lost their virginity is like... having a regular person go to a trek convention. It just kills the mood.
Ummm isn't this what I said...? All it changes is that you've had sex, no more, no less. Unless you think that you are going to turn into a toally different person, to which you are sadly mistaken. As to the presence of a non-virgin appearing domineering, that's just farcical. You are creating this illusion for yourself that non-virgins are different people in the emotional and mental sense, when in reality they are only different in a physical sense. Regular people go to Trek conventions all the time. It's not just fanboys. Not everyone is a rabid fan....just like I'm not a rabid cosplay going person at anime conventions. But I digress.
-
Hey this isn't exactly fair if you don't want non-virgins in the fray. Don't judge because we chose to have sex with our partners that we don't have anything to contribute to the conversations. It's the equivalent of putting a "white's only" thread in here. Not exactly fair to those of a different race, ya? Same applies here. So let me twist this thread around just a tad for us non-virgins... 1. How did you lose your virginity? (no specific details) 2. Did people treat you different after the experience? 3. Do you feel different after the experience? For me it goes a little something like this... 1. I lost my virginity to my ex girlfriend. We were in love then and we felt like it was the right time. It didn't work out, but we still can say that we've slept with each other. 2. I don't really feel that people treated me different, it's just that weird feeling you get from others who haven't lost their virginity yet. It's like "ewww how could you have sex? you're so disgusting!" But I think for the most part, losing your virginity shouldn't be a factor in deciding what kind of person you are. 3. I didn't feel much different at all. I just had sex with a girl. No big deal there. It's funny how people associtate that being a virgin means you're different. It's like saying "I haven't listened to CD X yet". You just haven't had sex yet. It's not like you're gonna turn into someone different after having sex. Not in my case at least.

Now to add my two cents...dating is a process or trial and error. You have to learn to deal with being rejected by many people before you find the one for you. Trust me, heartbreak is never easy. If it was, then everyone would be flinging from person to person with little to no connection. If you truly like this person, then you need to tell them. Regardless of who you are, geek, jock, prep, whatever. It doesn't matter what social category you're put into, because you have to make girls see you for who you are. You can be the biggest nerd in the world and I promise you that if you just be yourself, you will get a girl that loves you for who you are. To put this theorem into context for you...I am madly in love with a girl and we are the biggest dorks on the planet. I'm a nerd, with pimples and the whole bit. I don't have to hide around her, because she loves me for who I am. It shouldn't have to matter how you are stereotyped because anyone can be with anyone. As long as you be yourself, you will get the respect of a lot of women, even love if you are truly serious about it. So go for it. Here's a little proverb for you: "The bridge that's never crossed leads to the village that no one has seen" Meaning if you don't try, how will you know what will happen.
Whatever, I decided to put Warhawk down for a sec and pick Persona 3 up once more only to be discouraged by having to press X for an hour in the beginning of the game again so I dropped it, although how good it is, and started playing Warhawk again.
That's exactly my problem with slow moving RPGs, like Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time. They take too much time to wind up and by the time you finish the game and start on your second save file, it's like "Ugh, do I really want to slog through the beginning again?" That's what makes me put down RPGs faster than any other type of game.

I borrowed a copy of In the Groove 2 for PS2 from my friend. I've got to say, as far as dancing rythym games go, that one has to be the hardest one of them all. Some of those songs on expert are just torture to play. What's fun about the game is that it is so hard, ironcally. DDR doesn't have you avoiding touching mines or doing handplants on the machine. So ITG has a lot of fun elements to it that make it an awesome game. I would put up some ITG videos of me, but sadly my girlfriend has yet to give me the videos. I'm also working on Virtua Fighter 5 right now. The game just got a whole lot more complicated with this edition and I am currently re learning how to play as Goh, one of the hardest people to use effectively. His striking is much improved , but his game still has too many holes in it that can be exploited for big damage. Especially by people who play as Lau or Shun Di:animesigh
I don't really find any justification in the term "they're mega rich anyway and they need to be more understanding". Rubbish. If you steal intellectual property from someone - even a mega corporation - you are still fundamentally stealing. Attempts to justify this by saying that the band or company somehow deserve it are pretty ridiculous.
Ridiculous indeed. Revolver, I still think that your argument is pretty flawed, because no amount of fame or wealth justifies being stolen from. You say you wouldn't care, because the music is for your fans and if they are listening, you don't care. Now I would like to apply this theorem into a different context. Let's say, hypothetically, that you do let people download your music illegaly. Your album sales flop and you get let go from your label because you can't sell albums anymore. No label wants to sign you, because you can't sell records. You don't have any means of making money anymore, because you lost your main source of income. Does it seem like a good idea to have someone downloading your material from their computer for free now?
I can guarantee you that if you were that artist and you knew lots and lots of people were essentially screwing you over since they felt like you were fine because you had fame. You wouldn't be saying that. It's easy to make a claim like that when you are not the one who is doing without. That kind of thinking is shortsighted and just another justification for stealing.
My sentiments exactly. When the shoe's on the other foot, you wouldn't say it is very fair to cheat you money when you work hard to make music and produce records. As far as record revenues go, for major label artists...most of the profit goes to the record label and little of it actually goes to the artists themselves. They do make enormous amounts of money, but not all of the sales that go to them. Now indies is a completely different ballgame, since they earn most of their own sales, but their sales pale in comparison to that of the major record label artists. Downloading is the illegal part, since you can upload tons of copyrighted material to sites for use. You upload music to websites or to your computer and the files show up as data on your site of choice, whatever it may be...but downloading is actually taking this data from one place and putting it on your computer. The qualm with downloading, and more specifically file sharing is that it puts many a computer at risk ... because you are basically downloading a file from someone else's computer. The file is actually located on someone's computer, not from the net. The programs like Kazaa and Limewire and their likenesses only give you the path to that file and show you how many people or computers are hosting them. If you wanna get a song off of my computer, for instance, all I would have to do is give you the destination to the file and it's yours. However, I could also send you the location of a very potent virus that makes your puny computer ping all over the place. Also, the people that download those songs can infect your computer when they download your files, since the channel from your computer and theirs is wide open and oh so hackable.

I don't have anything wrong with Clinton, I just think that Barack Obama has the young, inspired leadership that this nation desperately needs after the recent faux pas in the Bush administration. Obama lacks the experience, but more than makes up for it in charisma and determination. Plus the man just looks plain awesome. He's got style and that counts for something ^_~

Yeah, I would, if you liked FF:Tactics and FF: Tactics Advance. It's more of the same thing, espcecially since it's a port. But here's the thing, the PS1 ports of most RPG's (including FF:Tactics and Valkeryie Profile:Lenneth) on the PSP just don't live up to the original luster of the game that they are porting. I've played Lenneth, and while the cutscenes and stuff are fantastic looking on my PSP, the in-game experience just looks glazed over and kind of awful, considering the power this machine has. FF:Tactics is great, but as Silpheed Pilot mentioned, it suffers from major slowdown. Which is weird, because not a lot of things are going on to make it slowdown like that. I would be shocked if a game like Disgaea or Makai Kingdom made its way onto the PSP because of the crazyness that goes on in those games. Jeanne D'Arc is pretty awesome though. But zom of zee kharactahs tawk wit owtrageouz Fronch achtenz. (say that out loud) I would suggest that one though. Pretty good tactical RPG.
