1. Wonderwallby Oasis is the name of the game today. I picked up the tabs for it today and I just played it over and over and over again. It's stuck in my head now. :animesigh
2. Is there a difference between black metal and death metal? Not in my opinion...but I digress. I got the joke, maybe I just used the wrong terminology when describing it.
3.
It had nothing at all to do with death metal or Lord of the Rings. I can see the joke went over your head too... *sigh*
Did it now? Let's ask wikipedia...
Varg Vikernes IPA: [varg 'vi:keɳes], born Kristian Vikernes on February 11, 1973, outside of Bergen, Norway, is a black metal musician. Known during the early days of Norwegian black metal by the pen name Count Grishnackh (a reference to an Orc chieftain in J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings), Vikernes conceived the one-man music project Burzum, and later became a prominent voice for the heathen Odalist ideology. Vikernes is currently serving a 21 year sentence for the 1993 murder of Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth of Mayhem. He is seeking parole in April 2008 after having been denied in 2006. Additionally, following a conspiracy of church arsons in Northern Europe, filmmaker Sam Dunn (Metal: A Headbanger's Journey) has described Vikernes as "the most notorious metal musician of all time"[1].
Trust me, I got the joke.;)
4. Guilty Gear XX Soundtrack: Awe of She (Dizzy's theme) The whole Guilty Gear soundtrack is awesome in my opinion, but Awe of She really takes the cake because of the awesome guitar riffs that would put most guitarists to shame, that includes you Avenged Sevenfold. You wanna learn some good stuff on a guitar? Take a listen to some of the stuff on here, it's pretty awesome stuff. It's also wayyy better than the generic metal-ish stuff you get from most fighting games, like Dead or Alive or Virtua Fighter.
5. Ejole people. Everyone knows that they both are equally as awesome in their own rights. Let me break it down for you. Werewolves are stronger, faster, and just plain better than people. They can walk in the light and can transform at will in certain cases. They are very cunning and besides the whole "Silver Bullet" thing, they are pretty much unkillable. Vampires are much like werewolves because they have heightened abilities that far surpass humans. They are still able to control their sense of self and their powers don't have to be "Switched On" in order to work. They are always there. The whole blood thirst thing is actually a plus for vampires because it makes them achieve a goal instead of just rampage and destruction. They hunt for survival, not because they are frenzied beasts.
6.
Wait, do you mean Biolizard or Finalhazard? Either one is a pain, but Finalhazard has that thing with the random unpredictable moving laser that zapped me every time. Took me forever to realize you can switch characters by crossing the arena.
I meant Biolizard. That thing has the most random, unfair deaths ever concocted in a game. I've been beaten so many times by the damn camera. It just lets me know that I won't be able to beat it. Plus when you jump on the orbs to hit the power cell on Biolizard's back I've been thrown away into the pit before by doing the homing jump stuff. Talk about unfair! This boss fight was just plain unfair. And just to show how old school I am, does anyone remember how insanely hard the boss fights were in Battletoads? I've broken many an innocent SNES controller because of the sheer frustration that those games have costed me. Even to this day when I've memorized the stupid attack patterns and how to beat the boss...it still takes me anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes just to kill off one boss! ARRRRGH! >_<
7. Define "uptight". Do you mean that there is a strive to actually be a decent message boards where people don't just post random one liners that often don't contribute much to the conversation and don't have mods that step in only in the most extreme of situations? Then yeah, it's uptight. Anyways if you are looking for a boards without an opinion, try somewhere that isn't in public. You will get everyone's opinion on anything in a public message boards. You don't want someone's opinion on the subject? Don't post. Simple, yes? ^_~ Now more back on subject I'm currently listening to Soulja Boy- Let em Crank That...because the dance is just too much fun. I am planning on getting Kanye West's new CD because of the catchy little beat that's in "Stronger", could care less about the lyrics.
8. My name is Korey in real life (as if you couldn't tell) and I get a vast variety of nicknames just from my name alone. I get the Korey-san and Korey-kun and even Korey-Chan from the otaku community, but that's just honorific stuff. I get called Corey Feldman all the damn time, even though my name OBVIOUSLY starts with a K. At work my official nickname is Korey-Kor, Attorney at Law. The origin of this is very funny. We got a new boss at work and he imposed these stupid rules that we didn't have in place before. Needless to say, I got a little more heated than most and they thought that I should represent them, so I was Dubbed Korey-Kor, Attorney at Law. As far as nicknames for my friends go, I have a friend named Alucard who was dubbed that by some friends of his. He was into D and D back when and when he started playing Castlevania a lot, the name just stuck with him. Some people don't even know his real name, and a lot of the people that we know just call him Alu or Alucard.
9. Some of my favorite Dethklok songs aren't even mentioned on this thread Where's "Crush my Battle Opponent's Balls"? and "Sewn Back Together Wrong"? Maybe it's just me....but I am personally tired of hearing Thunderhorse. Because where I live, it's the most played song on GH2. Everyone's like "Hey it's that song from that show on Adult Swim!" and I'm like "Yeah that's what you said the first 50 times, let's play it for the 80,000 time!" Metalocalypse, while most people clue in on the squalls of violence and foul language fail to understand the true metal inspired themes and references in the show. As Jake pointed out, I bet none of you got the Grishnackh character reference unless you were a death metal fan (or a Lord of the Rings fan). It's like watching other comedy shows, unless you get the references, you won't get the show's value in it's entireity. And as far as Death Metal goes, I'm not a huge fan, but there are some decent bands that I listen to. Dethklok is just a good virtual band and they have a good sound, regardless of whether they are on a TV show or not.
10. You guys want unfair AI? Try any SNK final Boss. It's something that us gamers like to call "SNK boss syndrome" A few examples that come to mind are KoF 2000 through 2002 and the recent NeoWave. The other enemies in the game? Easy as pie to beat, even on the harder difficulties. The Bosses? GODLY guru's who will counter your every strategem and kill you without batting an eyelash. Other games that come to mind when I think about SNK boss syndrome are BioLizard from Sonic Adventure 2 (that camera was haneous, it kicked my *** every time), the boss from DOA 4 (behind the back throw for more than 50% damage my ***) and Ruby Weapon from FF7 (which is the only boss I ever had to resort to strategy guides for) As far as jacking up the difficulty for games, I know in Fighters it responds by making the computer more competent (blocks more, has better counters, actually uses special meter, is able to string together a decent combo...etc) and FPS normally boast more deadly opponents, less health and body armor pickups, less ammo and less health capacity or greater health loss. One game that seems to take exception to that rule, however is Tekken 4. I've beaten the game on "Ultra Hard" and I still think that Tekken 3 and Tekken 5 were much more difficult than Tekken 4 was. The AI kept falling for the same old tricks and kept throwing the same old stuff at me on any level. One exception to that would have to be that they wanted to throw more often in the harder levels....weird.
11. Hmmmm...well it seems that you are at a point where you aren't really ready to get intimate (not in the sexual sense, mind you) with any guy right now. You want to have male friends, but you aren't ready for the personal part of the relationship. Don't worry about it being bad or anything like that, it's a part of living. I've went through that phase as well. For right now, I would adivse staying close to your original group of friends and have fun with them. As far as truly caring about being in a relationship....ummm...there have been plenty of relationships where 'care' isn't a part of it. All they are is friends with benefits. It's a total physical thing. I personally believe that a relationship needs to be more than physical attraction because otherwise it self destructs very quickly, almost as quickly as it begins. So just be patient and wait for your special someone. They may be closer than you think.... O_O
12. Carry on Wayward Son was cool when it got to Guitar Hero. I never remembered it until I heard it on Guitar Hero. Plus they accented the guitar parts more than in the Album version. 13. More specifically, has anyone's parents ever left you and your siblings to go on an "Adults Only" vacation? My parents went to Phoenix this weekend to go see a baseball game, because my pops is leaving for Korea next month. My dad never gets to do anything cool because he is always providing for us. Needless to say, I miss them. My life would fall apart if it wasn't for my mom. She keeps me on track and never lets me forget who I am and where I came from. At least they come back today. But I'll be at work when they get home....T_T. Hopefully they bought me a souvenir.
14. Wow, that's some deep stuff my friend. It seems like you had a complex that demanded you to act more mature than you were or to make yourself seem older than you were to match your seemingly advanced intellect at the time. My question to you is....if you are more mature than most kids your age at that time, then why fake it? Nothing good comes out of faking one's age and the fact that you've seen this and went through this experience and came out a better person signifies that you know what you've done and have learned a lesson from it. Eeesh I hope no one writes an Otakupedia article about me.... T_T
15. I had about 2 to 3 babysitters that I can remember. All of them were teenage girls that lived in the neighborhood and whose parents were friends with my parents, so it was like going to spend the night there. All of them were pretty cool with me and my siblings....so I guess I'm not much help in this department. Actually my mom does do Daycare now. Since I was 8 actually. She is just plain awesome at taking care of kids. My mom has had some of these children since they were babies and has watched them grow up into the coolest kids. Her first kid that she took care of and I were buddies. He was the oldest and the only child in his family and I was the big brother he never had. He was my buddy and I was his. When he moved when he was about 5 I was devastated. I still talk to him and it's hard to believe now that he is in middle school. It's funny that these kids come to your house and you don't think you would get attached to them, but you do. I have so many memories and experiences with the kids that my mom takes care of. Of course I get little to no privacy at my house, but that comes with the territory. I would hate when my mom retires and doesn't have 4-6 little kids in her house.
16. I've been playing this game non-stop since I picked it up about a month ago and I've entered a few local events that I've placed well at or one altogether. If you guys have played or at least seen this game, tell me a few things. 1. Did you like it? Why or Why not? 2. Favorite Character? 3. How does it stack up to other Capcom fighters in your humble opinion? I'll put up my stuff now. 1. Of course I like this game...duh! I like it because it has a killer soundtrack and the matches can get pretty intense. Plus I don't feel that you can be put into infinites like other fighting games. If you don't know what an infinite is, leave right now (not really). Basically an infinite is a move or series of moves that causes you to get stuck in the same move pattern until you A)Die or B) The person throwing it gets tired or lazy and misses a hit. SA3:3rd strike isn't hampered by this and the gameplay is balanced. In high level matches, it can really intense and people parry all over the place. It 2. I have a myriad of people that I play with, but my current favorite character is Urien. He is the villain of the series and he has some great attack options. If I could master him to the same level as say my Chun-Li or Ken or Remy, then I would be a menace, but right now I only use him in casual play. For tourney's it's mostly Ken and Remy. 3. I think that this game is one of the best fighters in the Capcom stable, closely behind SF2Turbo. The gameplay is really balanced and the game is hampered or cheapened by the existence of cheap tactics. Granted there are a few of them, but they are minor (Chun-Li's throw is frickin invincible sometimes). Some players who are fans of the versus series (Marvel vs Capcom and Capcom vs. SNK) argue that the game is too slow and more methodical than other SF's, but I think this allows for more of a chess match sort of gameplay akin to Virtua Fighter as opposed to other games, where the match can be over in a matter of seconds (like Guilty Gear-which is still awesome BTW- and Mortal Kombat). Tell me what you think OB!
17. If I could find my disk of Photoshop CS2, I would torrent it and give it to ya Steph. You would gush over the sheer amount of options that the program has for graphic stuff like banners and avatars. But I like the basic idea that you're getting at. My suggestion would be to cut out the characters (isolate them from the rest of the image and put them over a base color like black or a cool red. or you could use a layer and make it a cool pattern or something. If you're good with gradients, than that works too. But that is awesome. good job.
18.
Sealtest Skim Milk lady There was this older woman who would come into the store about an hour before closing and always buy a quart of Sealtest skim milk. And Lord help us if the milk delivery hadn't come in and we were out. She would have one of us call the maintenance guy who was acting as night manager and start to tear him a new one- and us because there wasn't that brand of milk. Never mind that the store brand was right there on the shelf. I'm not sure, but I think we had to close the store once while she was on a rant.:animeswea
Eesh, I've had that happen to me before but I'm not a cashier. A lady wanted the store brand of milk, which we had on sale for 10 for $10 dollars. When the milk comes on sale in our store, you are lucky if you come in after 9 and find some milk because it sells out quickly. I had just clocked out when the lady came up to me and asked me if we had any store brand milk left over. I told her that I wasn't able to help her because I had just clocked out and could get in serious trouble if I helped her and my manager saw me do it. She got really pissed and went off on this tangent about how she had been shopping at Albertsons since it opened 3 years ago and back then, everyone would come to her beck and call....blah blah blah. I zoned out like Konata in Lucky Star because if you don't get to the point quick, I lose interest. After she was done blabbing, I pointed her in the direction of my manager's office and told her if we didn't have any milk, then we would be getting in a shipment sometime this night and would open up starting 6AM tomorrow.
Bakery lady Thank El I only had to deal with this woman once. Her and her husband had gone through my line and had bought this item from the bakery but it had a tear in the plastic, so I had to ask one of the CSMs to go get me a new one. While she did that I put this woman's order on hold and began taking care of another customer. While I'm in the middle of that other order the CSM comes back with the first woman's bakery item and the woman starts demanding that I finish her order. When I calmly explain that I can't do that because I'm in the middle of a new order the woman grabs my arm and starts screaming at me. For some reason no one decides to say anything so I have to pry the woman off my arm and ask her not to touch me again. But I did finally get her to leave and I did finish her order.
Wow that seems like something you could have sued for....she has no right to touch you at all. But you handled the situation with grace and dignity, which you are to be commended for. Now I have a situation for you.... WIC lady- For those unfamiliar with WIC...it's a welfare program where you meet with a counselor and they give you money and credit and such to buy specific foods and such to help your children grow....etc. (not big on details:animeswea)Anyways...one of our checkstands doesn't accept WIC now for some strange reason. I've been trained by another employee how to use the cash register and my manager gave me a cashier number to help slow the store down when we have super long lines. The lady came through the broken checkstand and we calmly told her that the checkstand doesn't accept WIC. Right after they said that...my manager told me to hop on a register...so I do as I am told and hop on. I get a few customers and the lady comes through the back of my line and asks me if she can do her WIC stuff on my register. I told her that I didn't have a problem with it...but I already had customers in line that have been waiting a long time and I had to attend to them first. She got really pissed and goes "But I've been waiting in line!" I told her that I understand, but it's not fair to make the other customers wait more so that she can cut in line. She got mad and literally threw her WIC stuff at me (not at the register, me) and stormed off. Lucky it was only cheese and a half gallon milk, so it was easily catchable. I calmly set the stuff down and continued my work. I don't let unruly customers get to me cause I know that if I do, anything that happens will be my fault, irregardless. Plus I don't make enough to fight with some lady over something stupid like that and lose my job. I got to make it through college some how right?
19. Currently I'm only keeping track of the Hikaru no Go series in Shonen Jump. The other series are cool, but One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh and Naruto are all wayyyy past where SJ is right now....sooo I only keep up with Hikaru no Go. Very neat little series to get into. Art by Takeshi Obata of Death Note, but very different story. I like it because it can get intense without all of the blood and gore of other series. It's a psychological series, kind of like Death Note but with an ancient Japanese board game-and no death....>_< As far as anime series go, I've been keeping up with a lot. Sayuki:Reload (This is my fourth time through the series), Gungrave (Just finished collecting it), Lucky Star (thank you veoh.com!), Tenjho Tenge, Samurai Champloo (I've seen it all like a billion times and I still am amazed by it), FLCL (same as Champloo), Full Metal Panic?Fumoffu!, and Full Metal Alchemist. I mostly watch videos online because I don't have the time to watch the anime because of work and upcoming school events.
20. Wow people still play Wild Arms? That game went down the tubes after WA3. No offense to you of course...but I didn't find the games all that attractive anymore. The storyline gets old after a while. I know what you're thinking "But isn't Final Fantasy the same every time?" The answer is no. FF games are refreshingly orignial each and every time...with the exception of a few games. Wild Arms got a little boring because it's still the same setting and the same universe. At least with titles like FF and Dragon Quest, we get thrown into a different setting every time (except with the most recent entries in the FF series, which seem to like to be in Ivalice) I wanna pick up the Japanese versions of Beatmania IIDX because my north american copy of Beatmania is getting rather boring as of late. How many times can you full combo a song before it gets boring? Too many times in my opinion. I was thinking about getting God of War 2 until my friend brought it over and I beat it within two hours. Seriously people, can't we make games last as long as they used to? Give us some exploration, some items to collect, some secret stuff to do. Take Metroid and Zelda for example. Those games always take me days to complete because they are so deep and have facets to keep my attention going for a little while longer.
21. You kids complain about the silliest things now a days. I took AP English courses and I had summer reading EVERY year that I was in Advanced English. I got slammed my Junior and Senior years with 4 books and plays and essays to interpret. So before you kids go and complain about how much work you had...let me remind you that YOU signed up for these classes you smartypantses. :P I think I can clear up the "WTF is a dialetic journal?" question. Basically a dialetic journal is something where you right down quotes from the novel and explain their significance in the work and what literary terms they contain. In my Junior year of AP english...we had one due for every novel we did. It's very time consuming but if there isn't a strict set of guidelines, you can BS it and look for the similes and personification in the novel....^_~ All I can say from here is good luck and imagine what college is gonna feel like.
22.
Yeah, Half-Life 2 is an awesome game. I especially love the weird sounds that those creatures make. Although I do get a little creeped out at time's by the game, it's still extremely fun and addicting. P.S. I have an uber-graphics card, so I can run everything on high.:p
Brag much? :P Half Life 2 is one of the few FPS games I would play on my PC, just because I dont play FPS a whole lot. That gravity gun owns. Half life is one of those series that is creepy no matter what the setting. I remember playing Half Life for the first time and when the creatures broke out of the labs and started coming after me, needless to say I hit ALT+F4 pretty damn quick.
23. Hmmm I need to check first...hold on PS2: Street Fighter:Anniversary Collection (particularly 3rd Strike). This game is awesome because it lets me practice for tournaments and such. I have a streak on this game of 61 unanswered wins from a recent party that me and my friends had. My Ken and Remy in this game are just too good for words. I also have DDR Supernova on rotation in case I get in the mood for DDR. 360- Earth Defense Force. Not the best game you can buy for the 360 but definitely one of my favorites. The battles can get pretty intense sometimes and the ability to fight off multiple invasions of aliens is just cool. Granted the game does look a lot like Starship Troopers....hmmmm. PSP- Guilty Gear Judgement. Two for one here. I play it mainly for GGx2#Reload. The game is almost flawless in this iteration, but sometimes I wish it had more than AdHoc functionality. I would claim the top of the leaderboards in a second! Baiken Turtle Rushdowns for the win. DS- Pokemon Pearl. I recently got the national Pokedex, so I'm on the hunt for all of the other legendary Pokemon (Heatran, Regigigas...etc) This game has kept me hooked for most of the summer. Not bad for a franchise that's almost 10 years old eh? XBox- I still kept my old Xbox for sentimental reasons and right now I have Marvel vs Capcom 2 in there. The game is pretty wild and one of the better fighters out there. I switch in GGX2#reload from time to time as well as SF:Anniversary collection to get in some matches on XBox Live.
24. yayyyy!!!! Des you rock!!! Thank you very much
25. I really really really want this one....here's the specs Avatar- Konata eating a chocolate coronet. Simple Banner- Black with cut out version of Avatar and the words Chocolate Coronet: You're Eating it Wrong. PLZ and thank you Korey
