1. Wow this thread is awesome...I get to rip on bands I don't like. Yeah! Cradle of Filth- Everyone I know, including everyone in my band, loves this band but I hate them. I'm a big fan of screaming in rock, but when every song opens with a banshee shreik, I tend to walk away very quickly and change tracks...I'm not a big fan of death metal either. Amy Winehouse-Maybe it's cause I've heard better crooner music, but I just don't like her sound. She sounds kinda like Pink going into the Jazz/Blues Genre. Her sound is unique, but not my cup of tea. Plus, I got like fifteen e-mails in one day telling me to download "Rehab" in one day. Rain (Korean Pop singer)- I listen to a lot of J-pop and K-pop, but I just can't understand why he is such a big success....maybe it's his good looks...I don't know. Plus he was voted higher than Stephen Colbert on the Time magazine polls for fan voters online. That is going too far Rain!
2. Here's something without the fade, but I applied a cross sketch pencil layer to it to give it that artsy fartsy feel. Whaddya think?
3. I have my computer bag, which obviously stores my laptop and various other items like books for school and such. In my pockets I carry my Key ring, which has my Albertsons associate card, My house key and my car key; my spare change and my phone. In my other pocket I carry my phone and my PSP (I have big pockets). I carry my wallet in my back pocket and it houses my cash, military i.d., driver's license, blood donor's card, library card, and whatever other cards I have at the time...I also have pictures of my friends and family.
4. Yeah yeah, I'd better get credit for you in your signature. Something like....Thanks Korey for the awesome banner. I am eternally grateful. Oh here's a sample let me know what you think
5.
Sorry, this is my first time requesting anything. But I would like to have the whole sos brigade on it (if possible), if not then i just would like have most of the sos brigade in it. I'd also like to have a cool green color on the edge, like a neon green fade of somewhat. and of course I'd like my username on the bottom corner in white. I hope this is enough, and I hope I'm not being too greedy:animeswea
No problem. That actually helps a lot. Thank you. I should have it up by tonight.
6.
I'd like to request a "Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" banner please. i just bought the 2 dvds a few days ago and now im hooked on it. So please so the best you can!:D
I'm going to give it a go but I need to know a few things.... Is there anything specific you want on the banner? Like your user name or something like that? What kinds of colors and stuff would you like on your banner? This is some of the basic things I would need to know if I can make you an adequate banner. EDIT: Here's a sample.....let me know what you think. I need to make the file smaller before i actually give it to you though...
7.
Rez is an excellent game. I've only played a demo of it, but it was great fun with the lights off. I even downloaded the soundtrack. I need to give that a listen again... And what's this about free styling in Parappa? How did that work? Again, I just played a demo, and that was ages ago..
To tell you the truth it just sounds like you press extra buttons then what's displayed on the screen and the game gives you rewards if it sounds great. I racked up a pretty impressive score on the Master Onion level just by pressing the buttons in a rythmic way. For instance, punch punch would become Papapapapapa punch.... punch punch. I still have my old copies of Rez and Amplitude. Little do people know this, but the makers of GH actually made both games. That's right people, Harmonix was responsible for those gems. Here's another game people might remember. Gitaroo Man. That game was awesome. The note bending and everything that went along with the game was flawless. While it's non tradiotional look and heavily Japanese influences may have been a turn off to some gamers stateside, I always enjoyed playing Gitaroo Man. They recently released it for the PSP and I have to say, beyond Lumines and MGS, that has to be one of the best games.
8.
None of that sounds like free styling to me. It sounds like turning on star power to get more points. Solos don't imply getting to do whatever you want. I'd have to read whatever you're reading I guess. Even with a tambourine, you'd have to play it with the beat. No one in the world has ever had a tambourine solo of note. As for the DDR thing, I mean, sure people can do what they want to do, but hitting extra buttons in it is not something that's planned for the game. Parappa is an example of a game that actually had an idea of giving you even better scores for not exactly following the lead, assuming it was done well. I think that's kind of a different situation altogether. I mean, Hell, I can hit the bongo a few more times in Donkey Konga, but the game isn't going to reward me for it in any sense.
Star Power does let you do freestyles in Rock Band. Check it out at Gameinformeronline.com to see the article. Sure the freestyling in Parappa gives you higher scores and stuff for freestyling, but isn't the freestyling just pressing extra buttons as well? Sure the stuff in DDR doesn't give you some sort of score reward for doing such, I'd rather prefer the pride I get from doing it. Freestyling in DDR, even though it doesn't have reward, has its own sort of brackets in DDR tournaments. So I would say that freestyling is encouraged.
9. He did have some good points for a while, but when it got down to it, his insults were just plain bitter. Why do you criticize the site for everything it does? I even played around with him in a thread and got insulted for no apparent reason...maybe for the reason that he was trying to prove his "superior intellect". Nothing good ever comes out of that. CopyCatalyst got banned because he berated the site on many occasions, and he insulted the members of the site and seemed to post long winded posts to prove how smart he was and how inferior the rest of us were. Standard banning material if you ask me.
10. Hmmmm....That would have to be where I first met Squiggles, in a PM. I made a fight thread and was taking signups and she came like 6 minutes too late. I told her that she could fight me next and from there I became part of her online family and became her bodyguard, which eventually evolved into being her Big Brother/Friend/ Bodyguard. From there, I met her good friend Muar'Dib (who was then Firephoenix at the time) and we all became the closest of friends. We gained another member into our group of misfits when I spun off of Squiggles' thread into my own RPG that lasted over (can't remember the post count) 10 pages, at least. I eventually stopped posting, due to a fire wall that I was too stupid to try and bypass at the time. Me, Squiggles and Muar'Dib kept in touch through Myotaku, which was miraculously unblocked. Eventually I stopped posting there too, which still lingers on to this day....but I have rejoined the boards and have reunited with most of our original group and I must say it feels refereshing to be back to the first boards I truly loved. Another favorite moment of mine was when Dragon Warrior was talking about changing eye colors and got slammed by another user for having a different opinioin on the subject. I rushed to his defense and gained a new friend from that user instantly...although they probably have changed their username a lot by now. Although this moment didn't transpire on OB per se, it did involve OB. A user on MyOtaku was speaking about the deteriorating quality of posting within the boards on James' page and I sent quite a lengthy post to Mr James describing my opinions of the boards and how fair judgement should be used for all members. I recieved a lengthy response from James in his next post and I really appreciated him for taking notice in me and taking time away from his normal post to respond to my lengthy post. It shows how much of a people's Admin he is. Ah the nostalgia.

What is OB?

Everyone was at each other's throat, or maybe just Copycatalyst's, I don't know, but know that we have moved on, let's share a good hearted discussion about What OB is. OB is a place where the people in the Adventure Square can go on mind boggling adventures that range from the simple quest to find a missing relic, to an epic tale of people who have been castaway from the world and forced to survive in a remote location, to a revenge plot to assaissinate the founder of the network. I think it's here and the Art section of the board where the creative genius of people really can shine through. I've been involved in some RPG's way back in the past, and I've really seen the improvement in my storytelling skills and fictional writing, which I sorely still lack in. When it's something cool to write about or to share my opinions on, then I'm ready to write an essay on the subject. I don't think you can get this on other boards, where they have like fifteeen billion sections dedicated to regional sectarianism or the multiple facets of the topic they are covering. Some people may call it "Fan-Fiction", I call it "Creative Writing inspired off of previous ideas" . Politically correct? Who cares...? It's OB and we don't make any apologies!
12. Oh contraire my friend. Deploying star power in Rock Band will allow you to do solos in many parts of the game, including face melting guitar solos and gut busting drum solos. I read in Game Informer that you can even use the Mic as a tambourine for the solos for the lead singer role. So freestyling is encouraged. I know that DDR players do have freestyle elements to them. Some players stick to the basic steps and rythym of the song and play the steps exactly as they are written. I've seen other players that include actual dance routines and moves into their songs and still hit the dance steps, but on the light difficultly only. So there's an element of freestyling in DDR as well. I think the point of rythym games is to play along the song as intended, which is still fun to the average gamer. Some of us that have evolved beyond that point wil l adamantly refuse that sort of gameplay style and look for one that is more showy and harder to master. I look at it this way, if you can play Freebird or Jordan on Expert, then good for you. Now do it with the guitar behind your back or play the notes without strumming up and down.
13. Here I go again, finding myself back in the Matrix...Yuz said to himself as he plunged into the network. He found himself within a small, rural villiage in midwestern USA. The locals that passed by stared at him with his strange attire, but he had to continue on his mission. Ever since Neo had successfully stopped the machines from destroying Zion, Yuz had to clean up whatever messes were left over from Neo's battle with Smith. He stepped into a local post office where the elderly patrons within greeted him with wary stares of contempt and disbelief. Without so much as a smirk, Yuz walks past the people standing in line, and blocked out their angry orders for him to wait his turn. He approaches the desk and the clerk looks up at him and begins to speak...but Yuz interrupts her. "Security access, override" Yuz says to the clerk, who meets his icy gaze with confusion. She attempts to tell him to wait his turn in line, but all that comes out of her mouth is... "Identification and Password" "Sykel....password..."We shall walk the path where gods fear to exist" Yuz replies. The post office then disappears from view and a room full of computer terminals appears. Yuz walks over to the terminal and begins typing.... Who is Ahrianna? ~~~~~~~ OOOOOOOOOHHHH spooky!!!! Here's my character Name: Yuz Code Name:Sykel (pronounced sickle) Age: Appears to be 20 (doesn't divulge his age) Gender:Male Real Appearance: Yuz is an average size person, with light brown hair and icy blue eyes (which happen to be the source of his powers, but I digress), In the real world, he wears a tattered shirt with a small black tank-top underneath and Ripped pants. On his back, there is a tattoo of the words "We shall walk where gods fear to exist" Virtual Appearance: Unlike most people within the virtual world, Yuz is seen wearing completely white. He wears a white trench coat with a white shirt and vest underneath and white pants. Quirks: Yuz is very cold on the outside to most people, which is reflected in his emotional detachment from everyone outside of his normal group of crewmates. He often is seen as a loner and prefers to work that way, however, he secretly longs to find the missing part of his soul, which has been missing since the battle of Zion. Yuz is very skilled at hand to hand combat and can disarm even armed opponents. He also is able to hack into the shell terminals of the virtual world through "gates" , people in the world who are portals to the terminals. From there, he can rearrange codes and other things in the world to help restore it after the battle between the machines and humans. Orientation: Does not Divulge (although he did have a significant other, who may have the missing part of his soul. Her current whereabouts are unknown)
14. I've been playing parties with my friends for about 3 years now and I have migrated around the instruments in our band. Originally I was the drummer, but I picked up the guitar last summer and just loved playing it. We do a lot of private gigs and we get commissioned to cover songs for whoever wants to hear specific songs. Two weekends ago, our band played a charity concert for kids who have child luchemia and we raked in quite a lot of money. My favorite music style would be anything that is musically challenging to play. No diss to modern rock bands, but for the most part, I don't like to play songs by Hawthorne Heights or Fall Out Boy or people like that. I love the music they make, but I like to have a challenge when I play music. Some of my favorite bands to cover are the Older Green Day songs, Pantera, Metallica, Iron Maiden and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. We have our own songs written down, but we love to play covers too because we can do some of the onstage tomfoolery that some bands did (my favorite stuff to emulate is Poison's spins). We always open with "WILD WILD ROCK" from Sayuki Reload, just because it's a cool start to it. Are you guys ready, you hellions? I also love to remix songs from Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania. I have a program on my computer called Sonicfire and the sheer amount of options on that program makes it studio quality in my opinion. I'm okay with a synthesizer and keyboard, but I love to make bass lines and drum lines to songs. I made a remix of the song "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" by Panic! At the Disco and incorporated the guitar riffs from "Last Dinosaur" by the Pillows.

What is OB?
(i.e. "What is OB?" rather than "What should OB be?") I think that's all pretty fair.
Indeed. And I think Solo Tremaine hit it on the nose when he said that this is a place for discussion rather than anime news and so forth, which is mostly done by the Otaku.com This is a place where like minded otaku (from many areas, not just anime) can argue, bicker and insult each other if need be. OB is definitely a haven to writers and intellectuals, whereas the other sites (the otaku, Myotaku) are centered around different things, i.e. theotaku for anime news, previews, reviews, etc and myotaku for blogging and brining people closer together in a more intimate setting than a message boards would be. I imagine that Copycatalysts' posts in his blog could easily take up most of one page though! ^_^

What is OB?

There is an old saying that says "a clean desk is a sure sign of a sick mind". If this board was running squeaky clean, I would look into seeing if all the members were robots like in the Stepford Wives. The chesire cat can take his own head off, so slitting his throat is worthless Copycatalyst. He's practically indestructable!

What is OB?

Hah I get it. You should draw an apple and an orange next. *Chesire cat grin* Ah Copycatalyst, you have discovered me...or have you? I'd love to side with you but you again wrote a long winded soloquiy that didn't needed to be written. A simple, easy for the common reader to understand kind of thing would have sufficed. I can insult a person in less than a sentence, if you know what I mean. Just make sure if you follow the rabbit down the whole that you make sure that you know what's on the otherside, grasshopper.
19. Hehe I remember Parappa the Rapper. That was one of the grandaddies of modern rythym games. I loved the master onion stages the best. Can you still remember the original line from the song? Kick, punch, it's all in the mind...Oh yes. I still love DDR as much as the other games, and I've always played DDR before jumping to another game, but I find that rythym games are some of the best games around because they are really more interactive experiences that don't need great graphics to be an awesome game, because the gameplay is just so great.

What is OB?

See what I mean about being really verbose? He just said that his posts are better beacause they're long and they have very large words in them. Plus he added that people who write one liner posts are idiots because they don't pour their "souls" into the posts, whatever that means. Now I know that people don't always have long anecdotes to say, but if we are going to write a one liner, let's make it meaningful? Not just something to the effect of....hahahhahaha that's true, lol. That seems so more suited to an IM or PM conversation, where the people can respond to each other quickly.
21. Besides the obvious ones, like Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero, what are some rythym games that you guys like to play. I like games like Rez and Amplitude, but my current favorite is Beatmania IIDX. I think I was put on this earth to play rythym video games, because with the exception of fighting games, I am wickedly good at playing rythym games. So my question is....what is your favorite Rythym game and why? Don't like those types of games, then why not? Is it because of their learning curves or are those games just not your cup of tea? Let me know.

What is OB?
One liner posts often say more than three or four paragraphs of ********.
Most long posts tend to be unread by me, with the exception of Copycatalyst's and Retribution's. They tend to be really verbose, but hey they look like people really put thought into their posts doesn't it?
23. actually i meant the video game.

What is OB?

Otakuboards is different from other forums because it actually makes the effort to make sure that people are posting in an intelligent and respectful manner, which seperates it from other boards, where one liner posts rule supreme. I help run a Forum for gaming in my hometown and there was a thread where the people posted one liners back and forth for like an entire page! The worst part about it was that the mods didn't do anything about it. I know the guy that is the system administrator and he helped solve the problem, but I feel the problem should have been quelled long before that. You don't get that kind of stuff on the Boards here. I don't mind getting called on my grammar sometimes, but to tell the god honest truth, sometimes it's just splitting hairs. I would understand if I typed without periods or just typed long sentagraphs, but if you are going to get me on not capitalizing or something like that...come on. There's a lot worse that you can bust me for. But I love that people care enough to make sure that the quality of posting stays high. That being said, I can't agree with you this time Copycatalyst about the quality of posts slipping. We should hold all members to a posting standard, however not all memers post long-winded anecdotes like others do. I'm personally in favor of being short and to the point, if you can make at least two good paragraphs of posting goodness, then good for you. It's the one liner posts that irritate me the most. As for OB connecting people, it certainly has netted me some great friends that I wouldn't trade for the enitre world. I've met tons of people, but I find myself often speaking with my friends here than I would with my real world friends, just because I know how friends are in big groups of people. Here is a llittle more intimate. OB is a great haven for those of us who like to speak our minds and express our opinions without the fear of societal ridicule and the oftentimes "WTFOCKLE" (I stole that from Copycatalyst ^_^) look you would get from others. OB has people who are really in tune with their surroundings and love to discuss things in length with you. We may argue from time to time, or on every thread...but we still are friends in the end correct? So congrats to all and thanks to those who work on the threads so dilligently. For those about to rock....We salute you.
25. I'm having the hardest time finding a character from Beatmania to put as my avatar for the site and to match my banner. Can anyone help me by making me one? Your help is much appreciated.
