1. i was wondering this for a long time because it pops up in some peoples user profiles and i wanna know what it is. Group memberships. i need to know these things. 1. what are they 2. how do you make one 3. are they only for admins 4. if not how do you get people to join? i read all through the rules and faq's and i didnt find the answers. i also typed in the search engine and didnt get anything. any help by you guys would be appreciated
  2.
Really, that's how I look at games, as well. I was just thinking about maturity and whatnot, because it's something that's a pretty important issue in gaming. What counts for me most is how fun a game is, and this discussion lends itself to that, because there are so many different ways to have fun in gaming.
i agree with ya all the way shinmaru!i judge games' "maturity" on how fun the game is in its entirety. Metal gear solid got the mature rating because of the violence, cursing, etc. but we've all agreed in this thread that it supplements the game well. now for the ultimate game that sold copies because of the t&a factors. the duke nukem series. i picked up a copy of that when it came out for the ps1 and i personally thought that making women shake their rumps in your face for amusement was pretty lame. was that supposed to impress me sexually? it more like made me wanna put a cap in the girl anyways. the developers really tried to get a rouse out of men in the most obvious of ways and it ended it pretty corny
  3.
Hey, hey! It's a Viera! Something I came up with after signing up for Yunsung's RP. It's kind of rushed so the ears may look a bit off. XD Suggestions? Raves? Constructive criticisms? Go on, tell me what you think of it! Love and Peace! :love2:
Very impressive! the color blends in well with your character and the angle from which you chose to draw it is very unique indeed. The ears are not bad, they flow with the picture. Just one question though. is this yunsung's rp like final fantasy? cause it looks to me like you drew a veira from final fantasy tactics advance.
  4.
hate to brake it to you but black and white are not "colors", black is the complete absense of color adn white is every color....I love black and whites too though so I totally agree with you :)
well youre right with black and white, but they are colors in some respects, the whole issue is completely up to opinion. i tend to applaud people who use colors in new and original ways and display new coloring techniques. it also could go the completely other way, i tend to discourage some people's coloring habits, because it doesn't look natural. hair coloring doesn't show any shine and the coloring is all in one direction. stuff like that. also welcome to the otakuboards em si sho! have you got an idea for an avatar for yourself?
  5. somethin' about that song just catches me every time. *tear* the part when you see the sun rise and the and the music creshendos is just tear jearking and amakes my heart skip a beat every time (Fukai Mori 4 eva)
  6.
The former band teacher at my school once made my friend remove a necklace shaped like a sword because she interpreted it as a mutilation of the cross. That's unnecessary and uncalled for on the school's part, if you ask me.
well that depends on that person's reiligious views and other sensitive stuff like that. at my school we arent allowed to have any jewelry that has studs in it or have any necklaces that have the spikes on it . basically my school makes those prohibited because they can be used as a form of "weapon". The whole sword being mistaken for a cross may be a little too drastic, but the issue of religion could be argued either way on that.
  7.
Well, unreasonable censorship as far as dress codes are concerned is never good. And it's a frequent problem. At my high school, as far as I know, girls aren't allowed to wear any outfit that exposes their stomach. They're also not allowed to wear spaghetti straps. On the one hand, sure it's not anything extreme, but yeah it's kinda pointless and stupid. Are they doing this to keep guys from being distracted? (Obviously it makes no difference.) And of course there's the "no alcoholic products on t-shirts" rule. I guess, at a certain point, it's possible to wear something that can be disruptive to the school environment. (If a goth wears a big orange mohawk and sits at the front of the class that can be a problem I suppose.) But that "certain point" isn't clear, and it certainly is often way off when it comes to dress codes. But yeah, uniforms are still worse (unless we're talking about anime... or porn, lol).
I agree with sciros on this one. there isnt a clear point of when dress codes go too far. my school enforces the no belly rule for girls and the guys cant wear excessively baggy pants. i have seen the person who has the orange spiky mowhawk look. he usually sits at the back of the class. Well even though some of the schools enforce the whole uniform thing, im kinda glad that my school doesnt. i had to wear a uni in middle school and it got increasingly worse for the students who still go there. im glad i get to wear more than the same five outfits everyday. Also with the alcohol tee shirts thing, i can sympathize with the teachers on that. would you like to have someone you know wear a shirt that says *sex on the internet, hot boobs, etc.*? obviously the prohibiting of shirts like that is necessary but sometimes teachers go above and beyond the limit of censorship. Certain teachers make you tuck in your shirts even if it isnt against school rules, others make you wear belts if they feel that your pants are baggy. i can feel you on this one for dress codes. the limits are for the teachers to set though, if it becomes out of hand and just simply outrageous, then you could set a complaint to the school boards.
  8. hmmm i cant think of many j-music bands. ummm try searching for hikaru utada (the lady who did "simple and clean" for Kingdom Hearts) also if you dont already have it, dance dance revolution uses many j pop and international artists for their games, so it wouldnt be out of your way to pick up a soundtrack or two from them. also check on your fave anime and search for their artists on the theme songs (if they are in japanese.
  9. i personally dig the castor rifle from outlar star (this was back in the day). the weapon was considered too old in the show, but when something has about 26 different bullets, who needs to carry a 45? also it is capable of....... well i wont spoil it for people who havent seen the show, but it is very cool. I also have strong feelings for Wolfwoods cross gun from Trigun. Just the fact of hulking around a giant cross is awe inspiring, but when it doubles as a multi function weapon, you can bet the guys at the other anime companies are quakin in their boots.
  10.
Thanks for the compliment. Actually I just like to see some of my drawings with color because some people requests me to do so. Even sometimes I excel in pencil and charcoal I still like to have some extra points on color just for emergency purposes I guess. Well thanks for the comment anyway. I didn't expext that you will like it. Thanks a lot!
eh forget about it. color is just for those who need to see it anyways. what people fail to realize half the time is that black and white are colors. whenever i draw stuff, people always say, why dont you color it? i calmly tell them that i did color it and black and white are colors. i usually draw in black and white for storyboarding and comic strip stuff. what type of paper and pencils do you use on your drawings?
  11. actually the charcoal and pencil really accents your picture well. if you want to color it that's fine, but it is an awesome drawing! the level of detail in everything is just superb. did you pick the image up your self or did you just draw it freehand? i have ggx2 and i really enjoy people's drawings of fighting game characters and such (even if the talent is not as good as yours is). keep up the good work!

    X/1999
In the August issue of Newtype, the famous group of Clamp turned 15. They had small reviews about each of their manga. I saw a cool looking manga of theirs called X and I was wondering if anyone has seen it, read it, etc and also if anyone knows if this one is still selling. It looks awesome. It's about a guy called Shiro Kamui who is being fought over by the seven dragons of heaven and the other even dragons of earth. Shiro holds the key to apocalype. It looks awesome and I really want to read it. Ciao.
hmmm i did read that issue of newtype and saw that article. did you check what company it is made by (viz, tokyopop, etc.)? most of the manga you wanna see has a web site and sometimes they let you read the manga online. for example, shonen jump has a website that lets you read the manga that is featured (click here if you wanna see it). also check your local book stores and comic stores for graphic novels.
  13.

alright alright. i hate to play big brother too . it just rubs me the wrong way when some of my favorite threads get closed because of some newbie mistakes. but thanx for the warnin'. didnt want to get in trouble with adam and the crew.
  14.
I have trouble drawing men, i find it extremely difficult, i'm a bit of a perfectionist so it'll take me about 2 days to draw my own man character right, i usually have to draw him many times because i think they always turn out too girly looking.
hmmm good for you! i tend to draw some guys with a little too girly lookin as well, but i started to look at amercian styles of comics and it really helped me look at manga and go hey that makes sense! the problem with drawin guys (even though i am one) is that they have different contours than women do. guys have little curves and makin sure that the amount of (how should i say this) manlyness is never really expressed in most pictures that some artists draw. you should really stick to drawin something that you can produce so well that it is no problem for you. look at your magazines and other things that you own (posters and other stuff). i say this everytime i post and it really helps most artists. look at the world around you! that is what it is partly there for.
  15. hmm a good topic. my song that i cant seem to get out of my head is walky talky man ( i dont know who sings it though *curses*) i saw those iPod commercials and i couldnt get the song out of my head! it was drivin me friggin nuts! oh well, it made me download it on to my iPod so i guess i really ended up losin the battle to apple on that one. Another song that is stuck in my head thanx to my sister is that she will be loved song by maroon 5. She plays this song everyday and she puts on repeat so i pratically know the words to it. it is a cool song though. not as good as this love, but right up there.
  16. hey everybody! i need a new avatar and banner cause im goin to a big soul calibur tournament soon and i want to show everyone here who i am. okay here's what i need: a purpleish background with an image of nightmare on it without his helmet and his cool lookin arm. i want the banner to be same thing except i want it to say "the ill made knight" on it. thanx, peice owt cw Sessy out
  17.
Oh my most favourite boss fight of all time is when i defeated the emerald weapon on Final Fantasy 7. i had trained so long in the crash gerliniker untill Cloud, Cid and tifa were all level 99. I train so hard and when the battle came i had done everything to gain victory like the qudra magic linked with phoenix and knight of the round etc. i remeber the battle took for so long and when the final blow was hit and the weapon turned that crimson colour when monsters die. i was in disbelieve but then i was so proud when i had done it. know all i need to do is beat the ruby weapon. that thing always beats me :flaming:
amen my good buddy, that was one hard fight. although the most memorable boss fight for me would probably have to be fighting the final bosses in chrono trigger. Just fightin' those things takes mad skillz even for an experienced turn based rpger. the whole thing took me 4 EVER! Also the boss fights in the pokemon stadium games are extreeemely frustratiing. (yes i know, i play pokemon, so what?) the whole battles took an extreme amount of luck in being able to hit the bosses and the whole thing felt like it was out of my hands. i danced when i beat them though. :D
  18.
Um... you do realize that the titles which have been mentioned (both by me and all of the previous posters) ran or are currently running in the Japanese version of Shonen Jump? Hunter x Hunter, for example, is currently unlicensed--but I'm pretty sure Viz is making an effort to acquire most or all SJ manga that have achieved some kind of success in Japan. It's not like people haven't put some degree of thought into their suggestions.
oh really? i didnt know that. it never appeared in any of the manga explorer articles in the us version (That i have). i dont really pay too much attention to japanese stuff. it's a little too hard to follow for me. but i can see that happening in america. well the most exciting manga i want to see in the u.s. mag is whistle! for right now. I would also like to see all the one with the police stand dude, i forget what it's called. do you guys know?
  19.
On a more national level america found out today that sometime in October Ken Jennings will [b]finally[/b'] be defeated on Jeopardy! I wonder how hard it's going to be to go against that new person.
 oh my god!!! ken is going to be finally defeated huh? how much money did he win overall? you know i think the producers walked up to ken and said " hey jennings if you throw the game, we can offer you more money if you just quit now" funny how long he's been on huh? I have some news of my own now. it is sort of tragic in my heart still, but as we all know tomorrow is september eleventh. i would like everyone on this thread to pause for a moment and remember the selfless sacrifices of those firefighters and also the needless deaths of those civilains. (says a quiet prayer). it kinda hit hard at home at first 'cause my uncle is a firefighter in missouri and one of his friends that died in the tragedy, had worked with him just 9 months ago. so please send in your thoughts and memorial tributes for tommorrow.
  20. shonen jump is one of the best when it comes to manga. i read all of the manga (espcially naruto, which can be seen in my banner). i wouldnt change a thing in the magazine at all. They are going to continue the whistle series next issue and that is a newer type of manga that hasnt been shown in sj for awhile. Beet the vandel buster looks nice as well. but shonen jump should change based on consumer demand. why change such a good thing? if they'd change, the mag would start to lose some of its feel. also some of the manga you guys are talking about dont even come from viz, the manga company that owns the mmagazine. you probably wont see any stuff that is from tokyopop or any other company besides viz.
  21.
I think Inuyasha would make a good anime game. Just simply because the story line is strong...the character are cool...and there are strong enemies to battle along the way. I think it has the making for a good RPG. I did hear rumors of a Japanesse import(i.e Dragonball Z Ultimate Battle 22) Inuyasha game that was supossed to be coming out here. Its called Inuyasha: A Fuedel Fairy Tale. I would like to try it. I also say while looking around yesterday that there is an Inuyasha came that has been dubbed and everything thats for Playstation 2. In other news Ghost in the Shell would be good and show would be Trigun! Lord Naraku
I have the feudal fairy talke game for ps1. it is a fairly decent game to say the least. it is a fighting game, but it isn't as hardcore as well as i would like to see the game to be. one button press unleasing a special move is not very cool to me, seems kinda cheap now that i think about it. the game is entirely in japanese with english subtitles (not a problem for me though, i can pick up most of the words without the subtitles. i also heard about the inuyasha game for ps2. it is supposed to be an rpg and hopefully that will be good
  22.
I have improved alot, but I just remembered that I would rather make manga because with anime you have to draw over 2,000 pictures! I used to think it wasn't that complicated. But I guess I will try to stick with manga for a while. I have a question....is there anyone on the forums who has ever made manga and sold it. I just wanna know what it is like lol.[/SIZE']
well i have never sold it. but i have put some projects that i worked online before! i tend to draw with manga and dc comic-esque influences. the key to selling something anywhere is often decided on the amount of dedication the artist puts in. i can tell you that you need to submit your work to a major art company, like viz or tokyopop. you need to have a presentation readibly available and a resume if you are going for a job. otherwise, if you want to start your own company, i suggest getting a couple of books for starting buisnesses. it rrrreallly will help you down the road. oh and on your anime comments i say to you this. a lot of the frames you see in anime are just reproduced images from many manga titles. then all the animators have to do is add all the stuff for tv.(eg. animation, sound...etc) also, there are more people working on an anime to help produce it.
I'm really bad at drawing backgrounds. Like Mountains, or a room or somethings like that.
well it's not too hard. try looking at the place you're at right now. take a good look at the features of the place (i.e. curves and twists and stuff like that. like i've said before, it all depends on reference materials. i have one question for you though. do you have mountains in your hometown? it's kinda hard to draw somethin you dont have. (plenty of mountains here though :D ). also you could look at how the walls curve inside a building and draw them in your own perspective. also if you look at most anime, the artists tend to draw only parts of the walls and not the whole room. well the walls also depend if your drawing still life or just comic strip style. just take a look at the world around you.
  23.
Don't you just love it when you're the cause of everyone's problems?
oh aboslutely! :flaming: man that is a messed up statement! well this is really a sad story. i heard this on the news last night. a little girl had celebrated her birthday right before school started. she wrote in her diary " my birhtday was really fun. but what i can't wait for is the start of school" she wrote this the day before school. it sucks that a little girl can have a good life until someone claiming to fight for "freedom" just to take little kids and helpless civilians

    Mah Banner

you could make the banner a little bigger. Its a good image from the movie ( i presume?) also the colors are maybe a little too dark for my eyes to see. also some parts of the text are a little difficult to read (since they are in black) my advice to you would be to change the text color or border it with a lighter color with a shadow effect. Also lighten the image up just a tad, anymore and it might be a little too much. otherwise it is a good banner. use it!
  25. uhhhh its kinda hard to say really. i would say i am most like naruto. I am a constant troublemaker (according to my friends). i also am a determined dude. I never stop at anything and really tend to stubbornly continue my goals until they are reached. naruto also likes ramen just as much as i do. (as that can be seen in my banner) ramen is my lifeforce, when my mom doesnt cook. i also employ the art of the doppelganger to confuse and mystify my teachers. er no i dont really :( but i wish i could. ^_^
