Welcome to the OtakuBoards Killer.Shinobu! As Dhampir mentioned all threads need to have a topic of discussion. I appreciate you trying to give it a topic to focus on but since it is about novels/books the discussion is now in the wrong forum. Discussion of books should be done in the Anthology forum and topics on manga should be posted in the Manga forum. We also do no allow double posting. If you need to post something directly after you have just posted please use the edit button on the previous entry. Since there are several things wrong with this thread (first no topic, then a topic in the wrong forum and now double posting) I am going to lock this thread. If you would like to re-post your thread in the correct forum with a clear topic to discuss it shouldn't be a problem. If you have questions about the rules of the site feel free to PM myself or any of the other moderators. Thanks! -Panda
I was unharmed, but my brother was killed by the crossfire.
*hugs* I'm sorry for your loss, that is something no one should ever have to experience. I'm like Tical and had a near drowning experience. When I was around 6 years old I was at a birthday party at a friend's house. It was a pool party (in ground) and I really didn't know how to swim very well. I was boppin' around in the shallow end of the pool towards the middle when my foot slipped into the deep end. I sank like a rock and started to freak out. I tried my best to reach the edge of the pool but was just too small to reach the side. Just as I was giving up all hope I hit the bottom and decided to give it one really hard push up. I managed to reach the side and pull myself up. I was totally exausted and couldn't even talk for several minutes. Everyone was freaked out when they realized what had happened to me. My second near death experience was when I had a major allergic reaction to medication. I ended up in the hospital and missed 2 months of school durning my 7th grade year. That was a real bummer. The Pastor for my church even came to my bed side to talk to me about Heaven. :animedepr

When I am bored I usually wander around the internet. Make the rounds to all the sites that I normally go to and see if there is anything interesting going on. Reading through threads on different message boards and reading the blogs that my friends maintain really helps ward off the boredom bug. I am also a very happy window shopper. I will just pop into a boutique or craft store and look around for ideas for different projects. I just finished sewing a Yukata (summer kimono) to wear at Anime Expo. Crafting is really my main hobby so doing something like crochet, sewing or making jewerly help pass the time. If only I didn't have arthritis I could do this all the time! Other than that I read manga, watch anime, take a nap or play Katamari Damacy.

Since this is about a book I am moving it to the Anthology forum where it belongs. -Panda

Image on the left is poor quality. Compare it to the one on the right. You can see there is a difference in the quality of the two. I suggest you redo the image on the left at a higher resolution then there shouldn't be a problem when you re-submit the wallpaper.

Howdy foxgirl94, This thread is best suited for the Art By Request forum so I am going to move it on over there. I also highly recommend you work on your posting quality. Using proper capitalization is a must here on the OtakuBoards. If you have questions about posting quality or where a thread should go feel free to ask any of the mods via the PM system. Thanks! -Panda

I will definitely be there again this year! I am going to be there for all of Anime Expo. As far as I know the convention schedule has not been posted yet so my schedule is wide open. The only things I know for sure I will be attending are a few cosplay photoshoots. I should be around to meet up with everyone. I wish I were going to see Hyde but, alas, I do not have tickets. The Anaheim House of Blues is pretty nice venue. I have been there for a party thing Viz did a couple of years ago. I would love to go to the concert! Have lots of fun at the concert Solo! If we work out a time (and a place) for a little theOtaku/OB Meet and Greet I will see if I can get a few people I know who work in the anime and gaming industry to stop by to chat with everyone. I am looking forward to meeting more online friends from theOtaku. :animesmil

Cattle thief packs 7 calves into Dodge Neon
Panda replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
There was a case similar to this one in my hometown except a couple of drunk yahoos decided to steal a cow. Yes, full grown adult cow. They got it into their car by chopping it up. They got caught with chunks of cow parts and a pool of blood in their car. I just get this visual of a couple of drunk guys covered in blood telling the cops: "We didn't do it!". This makes me think if they killed some of the calves they could have packed them pretty tighly into the trunk and backseat. *thinks of the logistics of packing cattle into Neon* Now if this loon had done the calf-napping with a Geo Metro then it would be truly noteworthy! -
I love Azuma Kazuma and his stylish pink headband! When my my hubby -- and his Solar Hands-- and I started watching this series he started baking a lot of bread. We had melon bread several times since starting that series. Carb overload!! When I first saw this series it was on a video tape one of my friends in Japan sent to me and I thought: "Anime about baking bread....okay." But it's a really funny series. Or should I say punny. There are tons of puns in that show. It really keeps you on your toes to catch all the different puns that are made concerning bread. Speaking of puns, as Syk3 mentioned "pan" is bread. Well if you say "pan da", it means: "It's bread". This is one of those puns you will see in several animes. (.Hack//Legend of the Twillight Bracelet and Ranma 1/2 are a couple I can think of off hand.) Yeah, go figure, I would get a kick out of a bread pun concerning pandas. :p Currently I am up to the Monocco story arc. I have kinda slacked off on watching the series but should get back to it as soon as I get some spare time to watch anime. Yakitate!! Japan is a great series, I absolutely love it.

wolf Toboe- Please work on your posting quality. Proper spelling is a major plus on the OtakuBoards. Thanks! (Oh and visualkei. NightmareVC edited the post 2 minutes after Charles pointed out the spelling errors in this thread. ;) ) On topic: It's really a bummer about what happened to you wolf Toboe but I would have to agree with the others who have posted already that it's more abandonment than betrayal. To me betrayal is when you are backstabbed. Someone leads you to believe one thing then turns around and does the complete opposite. For instance: A friend tells you they won't tell anyone your deepest, darkest secret...then goes around telling anyone and everyone what you told them. That to me is betrayal. The only instance of betrayal I can think of happening to me is pety stuff in high school like the example I used above. I had told a boyfriend some personal stuff that he then told one of his buddies. Sheesh, what a loser. After that I knew I couldn't trust him anymore and shortly there after I broke up with him. At the time it hurt but looking back at it was for the best.

This thread is best suited for the OB Anthology forum since it is about poetry. I'm going to move it over there. :catgirl: -Panda

Papa Smurf, if you understand that then stay on topic. The original author of the thread used the word evil as many would use the word love. Yes, the word is loaded but those who responded are on topic saying what they consider the "evil" acts they have committed. If you want to continue debating then I suggest you send PMs to those who want to debate the definition of evil. This thread is about what the responders feel are their evil acts. Any further off topic questions can be addressed via the PM system and not in this thread. -Panda

That is an interesting question. There are so many things that add up to the whole which is my life. Here is what I think makes up my life, well, at least a part of it. Music: Music has always been a major part of my life. I've done all the "bandnerd" activities, Drum and Bugle Corps (which was a major life shaping experience) and worked in a music store selling tickets for Ticketmaster. Attending and performing in concerts and listening to music has, and always will, be a big part of who I am. Anime: Anime really has influenced my life. When I was younger I watched Robotech. From then I fell in love with pilots. I thought pilots were more attractive than the typical fireman/policeman "dream man". Needless to say when I met my husband back when he was in flight school that only attracted me more to him. I 100% believe this stems from my love of Veritech fighter pilots in Robotech. Anime continues to influence my life since I'm spend many hours on theOtaku.com, attending anime conventions, meeting people who work in the anime industry..many of whom have become very close friends and, of course, writing reviews for several different anime companies. Of course there is so much more like my friends and family, constantly learning new things to better myself and those around me and the pursuit of happiness. Life is made up of so many different aspects it's hard to define just what makes up my life.

Let's all try to stay on topic here. The topic of the original post is of the "evil things you have done", not "what is your definition of evil". Also, when using a quote please don't quote an entire post. Use only the text that you are referencing. Thank you! -Panda

Since this is a discussion about a book I am going to move it over to the OB Anthology forum since that is the correct place for this thread.

My dream job: Anime Convention Reporter. It really would be a dream come true to have someone pay me to do three things I already love to do. I love to write. I love to travel. I love to attend anime conventions. It's said that having a job you love makes work that much easier. Well, with my dream job it has three things I love so I figure I couldn't go wrong! Now I just need to figure out who is willing to pay me to travel the world to attend conventions... :animesigh

Panda's Goals -Save money for annual Anime Expo trip. Every year I go and every year I say the exact same thing: "I'm going to start saving now so I'll have more of a budget to use at AX next year!" Meh. As you guys can guess that goal never seems to work out. I would like to actually make financial plan for my anime convention trips. That would be very beneficial. -Exercise more. I exercise but I have a tendency to get lazy and skip a day...then two. You know how it is, it's a slippery slope and before you know it you aren't doing anything but sitting in front of the computer typing on message boards. I need a set schedule to stick to. -Get my Rheumatism under control. This one I'm not sure if you can call a "goal" per se since it's not something I can really control. If my meds don't work I can't really go out and make new ones that will. This may fall under the "wish" catagory. -Become a more tolerant/accepting person. I think I could ease up a bit. I feel I am too critical about different things in my life. I also take may things said and done personally which is good to a degree since it makes me a bit more sympathic, but bad since it makes me hypersensitive to opposing forces. -More traveling and meeting new people. I love to travel and meet new people. I would really love to be able to travel around the world and meet up with many of the friends I have made here on the boards. But you guys already know that is, and has been, always on my "to do" list. Very Little But Very Realistic Panda Goal -Eat a large chuck of chocolate dipped in a jar of peanut butter. Those of you who read my frequently updated blog know where this is coming from. Back in the day, before many of you were even alive, there was a Reese Peanut Butter Cup commercial that had this huge chunk-o-chocolate scooping out peanut butter from a jar. I always thought it woud be cool to eat that huge bar of chocolate with peanut butter. Someday I will actually do this. Oh yes, someday. Very Large Panda Goal -Be happy with who I am. I have never really been comfortable in my own skin. I always feel like I need to work harder, be smarter, look better, be funnier...etc. for anyone to like me. I need to get to a place in my life that I can be happy being me. The older I get the more I am happy with who I am. Meh, my friends and family love me for me why should I care what some stranger thinks! But there is still that little doubt in the back of my brain that makes my anxiety rise.

Sara, as always, you rock. In a related matter I was on a 4am flight to the midwest when the drink trolley came by and the guy in front of me ordered a Bloody Mary. He looked like he would claw your eyes out if you didn't give him his morning "eye opener". :p As for the game itself I haven't played any of those since grade school slumber parties. The only one everyone was willing to play was called "Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board". You were suppose to have one of your friends lay on the ground while everyone else surrounded them placing two fingers under the friend laying down. Chant the phrase "light as a feather, stiff as a board" over and over and you would/should be able to lift up the person in the middle since they were....wait for it.....light as a feather and stiff as a board. Did it worked you ask? Yes. That is because there was like 10 of us around a girl who was whisper thin. In the end we all just got really giddy and a good time was had by all.

I have been blessed with very nice neighbors. *thanks lucky stars* I do have a horror story about my brother's neighbor who use to be my backyard neighbor. When my hubby and I moved into our new home my brother bought my old house. Anyway, the backyard neighbor was fine. She and her husband pretty much kept to themselves. After we had moved out the neighbor's husband passed away a few months later. This was the time my brother moved into the new house and started remodeling and stuff. The backyard neighbor widow went a bit bonkers after her husband died. She started to yell at all of her neighbors for "stealing her land". Mind you, her husband years before had put up their fence so they were the ones who set the propery lines. She then torn down her fence and started to push over everyone elses' fences in to their yards! Her next door neighbors lawn was "on her property" (which it wasn't) and she put chemicals on the lawn and killed it. She then told that neighbor she was going to get chickens and build the hen house right on that area. This is in city limits, you aren't allowed to have livestock. One of the neighbors called a survey crew to come out and map out the propery lines. The put in the brightly colored stakes where they legally should go. Which, was where her husband had put the fence up previously. She didn't agree with them and knew they (the survey crew) were out to get her so she pulled out the stakes and threw them into her neighbors yards. One of the other neighbors had one of Richard Marx's albums blasted towards her house from 7 am to 7 pm. Why? Only the crazy neightbor would know. My brother not wanting to be involved just rebuild the fence about 2 feet into his property and paid her no mind. I think my big bro is going for saint hood since I wouldn't let some crazy lady cheat me out of propery I paid for! The police had been called more times than anyone could count. All the damage done, the noise issues (blasting 80's pop on a stereo all day long!) and just the constant harrassing! In the end all the neighbors ended up going to court over this battle. Needless to say the court ruled in favor of the neighbors, not the crazy lady. The best part was when she wrote a letter to the newpaper editor about how evil her neighbors were being to her...stealing her land and causing mayhem in the neighborhood. Apparently all the neighbors, the survey crew, the police and the judge had picked her out to torment. It's really sad and all. I should call my brother and find out what happened to that lady....

If you could meet other OtakuBoards members, would you?
Panda replied to a topic in General Discussion
Yes, my loves, mod rods will be available and it's not necessarily the mods who'll get it. [/COLOR'] :catgirl:
*looks in survival kit and finds: map, water, bread and....lid to cooking pot.* Oh man, I am so dead. :animecry: Despite being a BR fan I wouldn't really last very long at all. I would rather meet up with other members at a con....a nice safe anime convention. As mentioned before I love meeting up with other members of the site at conventions. I had a great time at Sakura-con meeting up with several members. If anyone is going to AX I'll be there too. As always, if you are going to meet someone you have met on line be sure to meet in a public place and never go alone. With so many wackos out there you need to think safety first. Be safe kids. There are many members of the site I would love to meet. If I had the time and money I would definitely travel to meet friends I've made on line. I have gone all over Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, Florida and Ohio to meet up with friends I only knew online. I really enjoy putting names (screen names) and faces together. -
I shall do what I do every summer: Road trip to Anime Expo in Anaheim, California!! Pretty much that is where all my money ends up going and this year will be no exception. The high price of gas plus the cost of hotel room, food and the con itself will zap my "fun money" leaving me with very little in terms of options as to what else I can do besides just sitting in my backyard. LOL The rest of the summer I will probably be doing odds and ends like hanging out with friends, maybe a few road trips to Seattle, BBQ's and my year around crafting/cosplay projects. Currently I am working on making my own Kon from Bleach. If you are going to AX you'll be able to see him!
Don't worry, post quality will start ascending again soon, and will keep on ascending until people start complaining about overly harsh moderating, after which post quality will take another dip, and so on and so forth. It's the Circle of Life.
Exactly. It's very much like a pendulum, when it starts to swing too far in either direction - too much or not enough moderation - and members make note the pedulum begins to swing back the other way.
