[quote name='Desbreko' timestamp='1322424163' post='710374'] [color="#4B0082"]You don't actually need to point the remote at the screen for aiming. Except for the initial motion+ calibration where it makes you point at the center of the screen, or if you recalibrate from the pause menu, the game doesn't seem to use the sensor bar at all. All aiming is done through controller movement with the motion+, so you can be pointing completely away from the screen and it still works. And if you shift the position of the remote and the aiming becomes awkward, you can just recenter it with down on the d-pad.[/color] [/quote] [color="#0000ff"]Ah, I didn't know that but it would certainly explain why pointer movement is sluggish when compared to movement on the Wii menu or on a game that does use the sensor bar.[/color]

[color="#0000ff"]Upgrading is always worth it when you can do it. That's all those items are for anyway. You won't need your wooden shield for the next area (don't follow in Des' footsteps and make sure you pick up your iron shield before you go) but you'll need the wooden shield again later so having it up to date early definitely can't hurt.[/color]

[color="#0000ff"]Yeah, I gave up on shield bashing them as well. Found it much easier to dodge, jump attack, and fatal blow.[/color]

[quote name='Desbreko' timestamp='1322204618' post='710349'] [color="#4B0082"]And oh yeah, I have a shield, don't I? I've kept it disequipped all through Eldin Province because I didn't want to get ambushed by some random Fire Keese and have it burnt up. [/color] [/quote] [color="#0000ff"]You can get an iron shield now that you're there :)[/color]

[color="#0000ff"]I sort of alternate between sitting and standing but for the most part, use somewhat smaller motions regardless. So yes, it's entirely possible to play the game from a sitting position using small flicks instead of full out swings. That said, I find it a bit easier to handle some of the more intricate stuff while standing (though I'm still not flailing the controllers).[/color]

[quote name='Desbreko' timestamp='1322169501' post='710334'] [color="#4B0082"]Yeah, don't get me wrong; the game's still been fun. It just starts off slower than other Zelda games. [/color][/quote] [color="#0000ff"]Yeah, I felt the same way. The beginning was extremely slow but I can understand why too. They need to introduce new players to some Zelda standards and all players to the new controls. The game definitely picks up after that and I'm now definitely looking forward to starting this second temple.[/color]

[quote name='Katie!' timestamp='1322156811' post='710328'] I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far, it's the first RPG I've played on a Wii (unless story mode in Brawl counts) so using the Nunchuck has taken a bit of time to get used to using. My dad is enjoying laughing at me as I swing my Wiimote and Nunchuck around to attack things. [/quote] [color="#0000ff"]Yeah, especially if you're not used to the controls yet, this can be pretty amusing to watch :)[/color] [color="#0000ff"]-------------------------[/color] [color="#0000ff"]As for me, I am just about to the second temple. I'm at the front door and just need to unlock it now but that's all I could get up to before we left for my aunt's house for Thanksgiving dinner. Overall though, I'm really enjoying the game though I do agree with Des that, considering the focus on Wii MotionPlus, there could be a bit more combat. I'm not really taking that as a complaint though because it hasn't detracted from the game for me - it would just add to it if there was more to fight.[/color]

[color="#0000ff"]Hello, Dee, and welcome to OB! ^_^[/color]

[color="#0000ff"]As excited as I am for Skyrim (I don't have it yet - I want the collector's edition but I don't want to pay $150 so I'll wait for it to drop to $75 like every other $150 collector's edition does), Zelda has been my favorite series for as long as I can remember. So, naturally, I picked up the special edition of [b]Skyward Sword[/b] this weekend and started playing that. I haven't had a whole lot of time so I've only just made it inside the first temple but so far, I'm definitely not disappointed. The beginning was a little slow but that was necessary to introduce you to a lot of the new concepts of the game. Once things get moving though, it jumps right back into that classic Zelda feel and has definitely been fun so far :)[/color] [color="#0000ff"]I also need to pick up the new Assassin's Creed but I actually still haven't finished Brotherhood - I should really do that once I'm done with Skyward Sword.[/color]

[quote name='Remii Drop' timestamp='1321679901' post='710279'] [font="Book Antiqua"][color="#00BFFF"]Thank you c: It seems this place isn't all that post active? o.o I've been stalking the posts all day... Is it just because of the week? Is the weekend going to have more posts? :3[/color][/font] [/quote] [color="#0000ff"]Activity comes and goes in waves here usually. You just happened to join during one of the lower activity periods. Stick around long enough and it should pick up though.[/color]

[color="#0000ff"]Welcome, Remii! :)[/color]

[color="#0000ff"]We'll be doing what we usually do which actually results in three Thanksgivings :D Actual Thanksgiving dinner happens at my great aunt's house and it's a small family affair. The next day, we do it all again at my house with my mom, brother, and some friends because my mom likes to have the smell and leftovers in the house. Finally, we always get invited to our neighbor's house on Sunday for her Thanksgiving so that makes number three. Overall, it should be a rather eventful weekend :)[/color]

[color="#0000ff"]The Time Capsule has been unearthed! Everyone go have a look at your past (more than three years ago now) selves and discuss here![/color]

[color="#0000ff"]Hello everyone! It seems that we forgot about this last year as, if you look at the first post, it says that it would be re-opened on 10/10/10. However, we're going to go with the excuse that 11/11/11 is a much more awesome date and as such, waited until now to bring it back. So, without further ado, I give you the OB Time Capsule! Enjoy :D[/color]

[quote name='Horendithas' timestamp='1318253681' post='709861'] [font="Arial"][color="#4B0082"]Well if it's fairly easy to implement I'd be interested. If it is more complicated like Petie is talking about then blue will just have to do until it becomes a more viable option to have different versions.[/color][/font] [/quote] [color="#0000ff"]I think he's right. I've been using the orange skin for so long that I entirely forgot about the other. I'll look into recoloring it and if it's easy enough, maybe throw a few different colors up. If you had any ideas in mind for colors, feel free to share (hex values are especially nice).[/color]

[quote name='Horendithas' timestamp='1318103004' post='709841'] [color="#4B0082"][font="Arial"]How about different color choices like how we have that Orange and this basic with blue? I know I'd like one that had Indigo for the color choice instead of the blue. Surely just having different color choices would be easier and less of a fuss to do.[/font][/color] [/quote] [color="#0000ff"]Unfortunately not so since a lot of what colors the site is image-based. Simpler than an entire skin, maybe a tad, but again, with the layout drastically changing with the next software upgrade, our ability to work on skins is rather limited right now. Trust me though, new skins are certainly on our list and they will happen once we work out how we're going to handle the next upgrade.[/color]

[quote name='Desbreko' timestamp='1318051236' post='709832'] [color="#4B0082"]I want the Caramelldansen skin back too, but not enough to make another one.[/color] [/quote] [color="#0000ff"]I think this is the key to all skin-related requests right now unfortunately. It's not that we don't want more skins or the return of some of our old favorites or even that we're lazy. The issue is that this software's templating system and layout as a whole are radically different from vBulletin's so it's not just a matter of copy and paste. Couple that with the next version of the software changing their layout completely yet again and you have more than enough reason to not devote time or resources to developing a skin that will need to be reworked from the ground up soon after anyway.[/color]

[color="#0000ff"]Haha, no worries. It's still a valid topic after all. Changing avatar restrictions is definitely possible though James has the final word there. The point of the gallery was supposed to be to make it integrated though - users wouldn't have to type in a URL or upload a file if they wanted to use a gallery avatar that was already uploaded to the site. However, assuming you get the go ahead from James, I see no problem with using a thread for this purpose instead.[/color]
-
[color="#0000ff"]If I remember correctly (admittedly, I'm too lazy to go back and read right now), that was a debate when we thought a custom gallery was possible. To the best of my memory, there is currently no way to actually create that custom gallery though and multiple software updates haven't changed that fact. I'll go have another look but I'm pretty sure that was the real issue.[/color]

[quote name='dark_apocalyps' timestamp='1315740451' post='709400'] Is there anyway to have the text editor not do the whole "practical" thing where it keeps the text format of where you copied the text from? Also, when using HTML, OB gives priority to BB, so when I want to add a picture as a background, it won't work as the URL to the picture will be pasted as a link. I like editors that do what I want them to do, not what they seem fitting. It's cool when Ctrl+B would make [b] tags appear, but I don't need the text in the editor to be bold. This lad has a track record of just not seeing things like this, so. :< [/quote] [color="#0000ff"]Go to your User CP and uncheck "Enable Visual (RTE) Editor?" under the General Settings tab and you should go back to a plain text editor. I just tested it though and it does seem a tiny bit buggy.[/color]

[font="Verdana"][color="#0000ff"]Yeah, not sure why I didn't think about that before. Power to components plugged into the motherboard doesn't necessarily mean that the motherboard is fine, though I haven't seen too many cases where that was the case. If you could post the make and model of your motherboard though, I can do a little digging and see if I can come up with a more conclusive self-diagnostic test.[/color][/font]
-
[font="Verdana"][color="#0000ff"]Hmm... this is certainly tricky. Reseating everything sometimes helps but since it didn't here, I'm pretty much at a loss. I suppose it could be a problem with your processor, which is the only component I can think of that would outright halt a system startup but unfortunately, it's also sort of difficult to test that.[/color][/font]
-
[font="Verdana"][color="#0000ff"]Silly question but you're sure the monitor is plugged in to the computer and turned on, right? And that, if you have a dedicated graphics card, it's working and seated correctly? You could try just reseating everything (RAM, expansion cards, cables) and see if that helps.[/color][/font] [font="Verdana"][color="#0000ff"] [/color][/font] [font="Verdana"][color="#0000ff"]It does seem like the PSU was definitely fried if it really smelled like it was burning so I'm not sure that replacing it was a bad idea but if you kept the receipt and the old one, definitely keep it in mind.[/color][/font]

[font="Verdana"][color="#0000ff"]Yeah, no need to go to a repair shop here. That will just cost you unnecessary amounts of money. I did just want to clarify one thing though. More wattage can't hurt but it isn't necessarily better. It's senseless to pay more for one with higher wattage if you don't need it. However, if you plan on adding components in the near future, having more may be a good idea. Otherwise, just make sure you have at least the same as your current one and you'll be fine.[/color][/font]
