1. I just realized that I have never posted in this thread so I'll make my first post here about my complete dislike of coffee. I've tried it a couple of times but I really just can't stand the taste so I never drink it.
2. If the smell was coming from the PSU, that really is the most likely culprit. Added to that fact is that you said the computer wasn't hot (I'm assuming you checked almost immediately) which more or less rules out the CPU fan failing and causing an overheat. If you didn't check right away though, you can't rule that out. The first thing I'd recommend is that you avoid plugging it back in right now. It has most likely shorted and plugging working components into a shorted power supply can damage the other components. Removing a power supply isn't difficult. Disconnect all of the cables coming from it one at a time and carefully pull them out of the case. Then, just remove the (usually) four screws from the back and pop it out. Depending on the layout of your components, you may have to remove something else from the inside to do this but that shouldn't be terribly difficult. Replacing it is equally as easy. When you have it out, take a look at the label. The important thing here is the wattage. Power supplies generally come in a pretty standard size so when you're looking for your replacement, all you need to do is make sure you have the same or greater wattage. Obviously, you should check to make sure it will fit first but I don't think you'll run into problems there. The new one will come with all of the required power cables though I'd hold on to any adapters you may have in use currently, just in case, though the new one should come with those as well. Anyway, I hope this helps and do let me know if you need anything else.
3. We haven't gotten around to actually installing more themes yet as most of our efforts have been dedicated to dealing with bugs and major features. I'm sure this is something we'll be looking into in the near future though.
4. To add a little to what James said, OB's email is handled through theOtaku's provider. Adam is allowed to send a certain number of emails per month across his entire account and once that limit is reached, further emails are rejected. Because OB generates so many email notifications, that limit is being reached so we either need to turn off the less important email notifications or get Adam to increase that limit. Please be patient as both options are considered.
5. You could also try sending one without having it save a copy in your sent folder. If you still get an error, that isn't the issue (which it shouldn't be regardless, since you're still under the max).
6. chibi, this may seem like a sort of ridiculous question but you don't, by chance, somehow have 20,000 PMs saved, do you?
7.
When I try to delete my post I get "[#10397] mod_no_delete_post" Is deleting only for mods now?
You may be trying to hard delete (or permanently delete) your post. Members can soft delete their own posts but not hard delete them by the current settings. I'll talk to James and see what he wants to do as these are all new settings. As for the delay issue, I haven't seen it so I'm really not sure what's causing it yet.
8. The point James made about auto-notifications is important. While everything is in a drop-down type menu right now, if there is a notification, it pushes itself into its own button to the right of that menu for instant access. I realize this doesn't help much for getting to your profile editor but it does ease the clicking for some of the more frequently used site features.
9. Welcome to the new version of OtakuBoards! While you may not immediately notice any substantial new features, IPB 3.1 brings some very nice extras to OB. Of course, with any software upgrade, there are likely to be bugs. We tried to iron out everything we found on our test install but it's entirely possible we may have missed some. That's where you come in. Just browse the site as usual, check out the new features, and if you happen to notice anything that's broken or seems out of place, just let us know in this thread and we'll take care of it. Enjoy!
10. I see you at 3,118 as well. I'm not sure how the software handles repeat visits but I'm willing to bet that something has broken here considering it's been the same for two weeks. I'll look into it. Edit: After a little digging, I found a scheduled task that is supposed to handle updating that stat. I ran it manually and you're now showing as 3,453 on my end. I'm not sure why this may have stopped running automatically but hopefully I'll have that fixed in a few. Thanks for the report.
11. Is there a reason you want to delete it? You can simply stop using it if you no longer which to post here.
12. James is right. HTML titles are enough of a nightmare to manage right now as the software doesn't allow you to directly use HTML but trying to throw in support for non-standard characters is a little more than we're capable of handling right now. I can change your title for you once and I'll provide anyone else with a broken custom title who posts in this thread one update but I can't start giving out new custom titles for those who don't already have them. John, your title will be fixed in a couple of seconds.
13. Nothing at the moment. The software isn't allowing us to upload custom avatars or to fully create custom galleries. It's an issue on their end, not ours, which we're trying to resolve.
14. It seems to still be ongoing, or at least it was throughout the summer. As for the show itself, it was recommended by a friend and had said friend not been 22, I would have thought it to be like any other show targeted at little kids and likely would have ignored it but our tastes usually align pretty well so I gave it a shot and I have to say, I do really enjoy it. It's one of the few, in my opinion anyway, good new cartoons I've seen in a long time.
15.
Looney Toons taught me that if you fall off a cliff you will only create a large crater in the ground.
And that you will only actually fall off said cliff when you look down.
16. Thank you! And as it seems you joined fairly recently, welcome to OB!

17.
We are actually still working on that Around the Network nav item - it should be completed soon. I forgot that we have it on a live skin and not a test one. Good spotting.
Yeah, I probably should have mentioned that in advance. Sorry about that. I can't actually see the test skins right now so I did my work on the live version. I'm just waiting for the final list of links that should be included there and I'll have it up and running correctly on all skins.
18. This has been something I've been curious about for a while so I might as well ask - why is it that people seem to hate her so much and on such a nearly unanimous level? I can appreciate not being a fan of her music or her show or her message or anything else you wish to not be a fan of but people seem to have taken this really far and I'm curious as to why. Did I miss something?
19.
An every once in a blue moon type of thing... (everyday just once a day) I don't know if other people have encountered it either, but sometimes when viewing threads I'd notice little post mergers or something where a member would post a message, and the next poster's message would overlap the previous poster's message. (Well not their message but it comes pretty close to it, but their signature would get swallowed up big time though) It's not a big deal since it goes away if I refresh the page or whatnot, and I figured it was just me having computer issues. Edit: Everytime I try to change my avatar it goes back to the same one that I'm trying to get rid of. O_o Edit2: Ohhh, so now we have to use the 2nd option for avatars... Can't use the browse from computer option...?
I haven't seen your first issue so I can't comment right now but as for the second, browse from computer works (I'm using it now). If the new avatar doesn't show up for you once it's uploaded, force reload the page and you should see it. Force reloading varies by OS and browser but can generally be accomplished with CTRL + F5 on a PC and Command + F5 on a Mac.
20. That's what I thought too but I haven't gotten around to checking it yet though I just realized doing so would be fairly simple so I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes. Edit: Well, that doesn't seem to be it, or at least not for new unapproved posts. It may just take a little time to update but the way the soft-deleted posts transferred over could have caused them to be treated differently.
21.
Yeah, I've also noticed that post counts in the postbit and the profile tend to differ. I think we might need to have the software rebuild post counts.
Nope. I tried rebuilding the post counts after confirming the issue for myself to no avail. Something else is wrong here.
22.
Also....can I have my star back, pls? I feel so naked without it.
I'll be taking care of that and all other titles that once had HTML in them in the near future (probably tonight). Don't worry
23.
Perhaps we can test this and if the system seems to be working we can turn email activation back on. It'll be interesting to see if we still get so many hanging issues when people try to post.
Well I checked the logs and my initial reply to this thread after making the changes triggered a successful email to a subscriber of the thread so that's encouraging.
24.
I've just posted something from Adam in the Secret Special Place. I hope it helps.
I updated the email settings to reflect his suggestions. Hopefully that does it.
I am not sure if this is an issue or not that was brought up. However It feels like the only cookie that the new software is having the username/password filled out. Is there a way to keep myself logged in without signing me out every time I open a new window? It's really frustrating. Please look into it when you have the time, thanks. EDIT: I get the lagging thing too with posting. The, "I post but it takes forever to load but if I open it in a new page, my post is there," thing. Using wet paint too.
This problem seems inconsistent as I have never had a problem with it. My suggestion for now would be to log out, click the "Delete My Cookies" link at the bottom of this page, close the browser, re-open it, and log back in, making sure remember me is checked. This will force the cookies to be re-issued and hopefully resolve your problem.
25.
Man, we have consistently had problems with OB sending out email. It's very frustrating. Is this more of a server-side issue or something based on our IPB setup?
I feel like this is a server-side issue as I checked IPB's email settings and everything seems okay. Granted, I'm not entirely sure what would be causing this on the server side either.
