Is it just an issue with theOtaku or are images not displaying everywhere? I know you said you already tried clearing your private data but did you make sure everything was checked and you set your time range to Everything? This might be a little excessive but it would be a definitive test. As a point of reference, I'm also having no issues with the site using Firefox.

This was actually discussed not too long ago in the thread [thread=60041]Post Counts Return, eh?[/thread]. There are quite a few replies but if you read through them, the conversation eventually shifts to the rep system. And just as a point of reference, I don't mean for this reply to say we absolutely will not enable rep as that isn't my call to make. If others think it's worth discussing again than by all means, discuss ^_^

I'll occasionally answer a call while driving (though I need to stop doing it since it's now a primary offense in NJ) as I tend to drive with one hand anyway but texting while behind the wheel I tend to stray away from. It just seems like a terrible idea - you're usually looking at the phone while writing a text message and that means it's very easy to miss anything that may be in front of your car. On a related note, I believe texting while driving is also a primary offense in NJ now, which I fully agree with.

Unless I'm doing something that requires leaving it on (i.e. downloading a large file, defragging, or something to that effect), I always shut it down when I go to bed. Whether or not I turn it off when I go out is sort of random. A lot of the time, I will, but sometimes (the above reasons included), I don't. Other times, I'll leave it on intentionally since I can access it outside of the house and often need to if I'm helping someone with something. Also, just a heads up for those of you who do leave your computers on forever - you should restart them at least once a week or so. This frees up memory that was used and never released for one reason or another and tends to keep your computer running faster. You won't cause any permanent damage by leaving it on but you'll help yourself in the long run. chibi-master, your case is different and losing the internet connection every time you restart shouldn't happen. I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot it at some point if you'd like.

not sure where to put it, so i'll ask here.

Hey and welcome to OtakuBoards ^_^ Google likely would have gotten you an answer a little faster but I did a quick search for you anyway. I can't vouch for the stores listed as I don't know the area but this should at least point you in right direction: click me! That link will bring you to a Google Maps search result for anime stores in Virginia. For manga, Barnes and Noble actually has a decent collection and many comic stores (which you could find in the same way I found the anime stores above) also stock manga. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. -
As a big fan of good sarcasm as well, I must applaud you, John, on your post. I actually had to go back and read it again before I realized what was going on and I usually pick up on it quick. My initial reaction was "Huh?" until I continued reading the second half.
...and at present this little annoying Class Participation System pad (erroneously called a "clicker" because people like saying "clicker", despite the fact that nothing on the infernal thing even comes close to making a clicking sound)...
I don't carry any sort of bag enough to actually reply to this topic (and when I do, it's usually just for books or my laptop) but I needed to comment on what I quoted above. I have one of those things too and I spent forever trying to find some logical reason why it was referred to as a "clicker" as well. To this day, i have not come up with anything and I've had the thing for two years now.

Most of vB's system prevents you from directly calling any PHP (outside of a few functions) so I'm not sure that would work. I'll look into it though.

I could write the script but I'm wondering how we'd actually use it from a BB tag. If you have an idea there, let me know and I'll write a script to grab the ID.
If he has a spam filter or anything like that, have him make sure the e-mail didn't get caught by it. Sometimes automated e-mails like this can end up in the spam/junk mail. He can also have a new activation e-mail sent by using this form.
Ah, I skipped the part about him not getting the email and was referring to the "We are not accepting sign ups at this moment" message he got.

Registration is currently enabled so how old is your friend? This site (and it's parent site, theOtaku.com) requires you to be at least 13 to register for an account.

Just to clarify, theOtaku's chat does not rely on any sort of Adobe product (though for the record, Opera, which is the browser Wii uses, does support Flash - Adobe's primary web product). The Wii browser does support Javascript and I believe it may take cookies though I'm not positive on the latter. However, trying to get into the chat on the Wii browser wouldn't be too helpful anyway unless you have a keyboard plugged in. I'd suggest trying it from a normal computer.

I've only heard rumor but I figured if passing on what I've heard could shed some light on the situation, it couldn't hurt. Let me know what you discover.

I think what you're seeing may be related to today...

I'm not sure what's causing this for you. I just tried subscribing to the Sin City Backstage thread and it worked fine for me. I'd say try logging out and then back in but since you seem to be able to subscribe to other threads, I don't think that's the problem. You are getting to that second screen that asks you to confirm whether or not you want an email update and asks which folder you want the subscription added to, right? Edit: Seems to be resolved now though if anyone else is having this problem, feel free to say so.
To everyone trying to worm their way out of the restrictions: you better hope you're not dealing with any evil trickster genies.
I think in that case, trying to cheat or not, you'd be in trouble regardless.
1: I wish that I could wish for more wishes. 2: I wish for more wishes. 3: ???? 4+: PROFIT!!!
You've stolen my wish line... That's the way I've always gotten around the no wishing for more wishes rule too though. You use one wish to wish for the ability to wish for more wishes and then the next to wish for infinite wishes. And Drizzt, one of my first of the infinite wishes I would now have would be to have Goku's powers. I'm not sure what else I'd do with my wishes though - I never thought too far past DBZ.

Well, I did a little digging through the source and I have good news and bad news for you. First, the good. Here is your mystery song. It took a little work to find but clicking on that link will bring you to a Flash based media player with your song playing. Now, the bad. Unfortunately, the site that is hosting the file is pretty smart and I couldn't get to the MP3 to try to find some track data (i.e. the title or author of the song). Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I'm sure someone around here knows a bit more than I do about this song though.
I hate when that happens. Being sick is bad enough, but to find music intolerable always seems like I'm betraying something somehow. =P
Haha, I know what you mean. At that point though, it was really just because I had an awful headache so pretty much any noise didn't help too much there. Plus, with me being too lazy to get up and get my iPod, the only music I could hear at the time was coming from some unnecessarily loud speakers from somewhere else in the dorm and that wasn't exactly my cup of tea either (I can't believe I just used that expression...).
I had been wondering how Travis could bounce back from his injuries, right back into Blink 182, but I guess that makes sense... But really... no feeling? Ha. I'm not sure if you're pulling my leg, or not, but that's pretty crazy.
I am most certainly not pulling your leg (unless my friend did a very good job of pulling mine). Evidently, he hadn't told anyone he couldn't feel his arm and the only reason the other two found out was because at some point during a set, he cut himself pretty badly and was bleeding all over the place. He didn't feel it but the others noticed when his drums started to get bloody. The way I see it, this story is just a little bit too absurd to make up on the spot so I believe it. Take what you will from that. Finally, I'm listening to the School Rumble intro because it happens to be on TV right now.
...So yeah.. how about Blink 182 getting back together? Anyone excited besides me? No? sigh.
Oh, trust me, you're not alone. My friend and I have been huge Blink fans forever so this announcement was fantastic news. I'm not sure if you've been following their progress (admittedly, I got this from my friend) but they're 5 or 6 songs into their next album already. And as an interesting bit of trivia, Travis Barker actually recorded the drums for these tracks with no feeling in his left arm (due to the plane crash he was in). So yeah, I guess to sum it up, I'm excited too. And to stay on topic, I'm currently listening to nothing. The silence is nice while trying to recover from being sick.

From personal experience, I've found the reCAPTCHA system to work really well. I noticed a drastic decrease in the number of spam registrations once I switched over to it from the default CAPTCHA system. Some will still slip through but they are few and far between. Unfortunately, it seems as though this version of vBulletin does not support reCAPTCHA but it's something we can look at adding once we upgrade.
Isn't most of Adult Swim's stuff hit-and-miss, though?
You know, I hadn't really thought about it like that but you're entirely right. I guess my opinion there was a little biased because of how much I dislike Tim and Eric and how I generally like the rest of the shows you mentioned (though I can't stand King of the Hill). I would have been the first you knew to dislike Harvey Birdman had you asked a couple of years ago but that show quickly grew on me too.
as far a show i cant really watch wel... SuperJail i just cant get into that one:animesigh
See, now I felt the same way the first time I saw SuperJail but it's really grown on me since and I like it a lot for reasons I can't understand. I think it's probably because the show is so completely ridiculous and random. As for Tim and Eric, I don't even know if I could last five minutes at this point. Like I said, there are maybe two things that I've heard come from that show that I find even remotely amusing but in generally, I avoid it like the plague.

I watched the premiere (which ran two episodes back to back) and never watched it again. Following that premiere, I completely regretted the fact that I would never get those 30 minutes of my life back. Personally, I really just can't stand them. With the exception of a catch phrase or two, I never really found anything they did funny but saw it as simply a waste of a time block on Adult Swim. I feel the same way about Tom Goes to the Mayor (another show they did). There's just something about them that makes me want to change the channel. Granted, this obviously isn't a global opinion. I have one friend who feels the exact same way and another who looks at both of us like we're crazy because he loves the show. It seems completely hit or miss though - I don't know of anyone who thinks it's "okay." You either love it or you hate it. Oh, and on an unrelated note, welcome to OtakuBoards, Dooane!
Dagger is essentially right - I think we are all sort of coming at this with way too my cynicism. Ultimately any kind of positive rep system (i.e. where you can't make negative votes) would really just be a fun little thing that people can use to acknowledge specific posts.
Just for the record, while rep is given on a post to post basis, it is tallied as a whole for the individual member. Nobody but the person receiving the rep and the person giving it can actually see which specific post it was given for. And Dagger, you are indeed correct - an option exists to hide your rep all together if you so choose. I don't mean this to change peoples' minds - only to maybe clear up some of the misunderstanding about how this system works.
