I live in Rutherford, NJ which is a very tiny town (it's about a square mile and a half) in northern New Jersey. There's really not too much to say about it. There's almost nothing to do in town (though we did just get a 7-Eleven, to add to the fast-food theme). 95% of Rutherford thinks they're rich but in reality, we only get taxed like we are. We have an awful movie theatre (three screens, only one of which is in at all decent condition), 17 (literally, I'm not kidding) nail salons, a bunch of restaurants (many of which are actually pretty good), a train station, and something like six schools in the district. While it sounds like a little more than nothing, trust me when I say it gets old after living here for almost 17 years. On the upside, I'm 15 to 20 minutes by car/bus/train from NYC (which is actually where I was born and lived for two years), where I'm currently typing this post from so that opens up things a bit more. And just to keep with the theme, there's a McDonald's right down the block from my office. The only other thing of interest in the area that others may know of is Giants Stadium, which is about 10 minutes from my house, 30 if you count the confusing maze of streets and U-turns to get into the parking lot.

People, please, let's keep things civil. This thread is bound to generate replies that you do not agree with and you're welcome to voice your opinion but do so without insulting other members.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, OnigiriGirl. You will get answers to your question in a much quicker fashion if you simply use a search engine. Do a Google (or any other search engine of your choice) search for anime music and I'm sure you'll find plenty of results. Please read through the Rules and FAQ in addition to the [thread=56262]Music, Movies & TV Guidelines[/thread] before you continue posting. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other staff member. Thread closed.

Rebooting and hitting F11 is indeed what you need to do but allow me to make one suggestion. While you can back up your files, I wouldn't suggest it since there's a good chance one or more of those files the cause for, or at least infected with, the viruses causing your current problem. If you do have to back things up, do them manually since the HP restore utility will back up everything and this is likely not a good idea. Just a suggestion.

Fifteen to forty-five minutes would have been a blessing. The day I went to get my license turned into a seven hour ordeal for me. It started off waiting around forty minutes in line to take the driving test. Following the test, there was a good hour's wait to get the forms I had to fill out. From there, I got sent to some other room which consisted of waiting twenty minutes at a time for each of four or five stations (in very random order). After that, I caught the only break of the entire day. We were sent to the back of another line to do the identity check thing and this line went back out the door. Well someone was just arriving for their shift and pulled us to his station as we were walking to the back of the line so this part didn't take long. After that, I got a number (something like forty-five if I remember correctly). So, I sit and wait for two hours to get into the room to get in line to take my picture. However, at this time, every DMV computer state wide decided to go down so there was two hours of waiting where nothing got done at all bringing the total to four just to get in another line. After finally getting into the room to get in line for the picture, it was another forty minutes before actually getting my picture taken and to top it all off, they spelled the name of my street wrong. My numbers may not add up to seven hours because I'm likely forgetting things but the trip did total seven hours in all. Bear in mind though that I live in a very densely populated area right outside NYC though. So that's my story. If it's any consolation, your experience likely won't be this bad.

I've been meaning to reply to this thread for a while. I am technically in a band called Job Well Done. By technically, I mean I do not currently play an instrument for them but I do everything else (Road/Media Manager, Webmaster, soon to be recording studio, etc.). I play piano which does not really fit into the Pop/Punk genre (At least in the existing songs anyway. I know there are exceptions to this assumption.) though they did say I'll be playing keyboard for some songs in the near future but I have no specific plans for that yet. So, we have four members (plus myself) and like I said, we play mainly Pop/Punk though there are hints of various other things mixed in. For more info and some samples, among other things, check out any of the following links. Links: Official Site (This is one of the things I've done thus far.) Myspace Purevolume

Strange work experiences... care to share?
Petie replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I work at Staples and not too much of interest has happened there so I don't think I'll be topping too many of these stories but here goes. As a little background info, Staples sells Technical Service Plans for expensive electronics and Product Replacement Plans for the cheaper electronics. Essentially, they're extended warranties. One day, this guy comes in with a $180 shredder he bought eight months ago but with the Product Replacement Plan. For whatever reason, it didn't work any more. No problem - I went to get him a new one. Problem is, the only ones we had left were on the top of some high shelves. So, I get a ladder, climb up, grab the thing and the ladder (not a vertical one - more of a rolling stair case) shifts under me and the shredder falls. It hits my head first, followed by the light (fluorescent tube and fixture) above me. Everything shattered but luckily the box directed the falling glass past me and to the floor. A little shaken, I get the last one of that shredder we have, bring it to the front, tell them what happened, clean up the glass, and continue my day. What makes this story funny is that the guy ended up making $15 on his exchange. The plan for that shredder is $15 so with his replacement, he bought another plan. The new shredder was free but there was a $30 mail in rebate on it at the time so he essentially made $15 for us giving him a new shredder. -
kumi-chanmi, we already have a couple of Japanese music threads. One for Japanese Rock/Metal, which can be found [thread=56006]here[/thread] and one for Japanese music in general, which can be found [thread=54456]here[/thread]. In the future, please make sure you check the thread directory (located at the top of the Music, Movies & TV thread list) before posting a new thread to make sure we don't already have a thread about that subject. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other staff member. Thread closed.

SailorDove, I'm going to have to close this thread. Threads that begin by listing a bunch of bands/artists usually go off topic very quickly. Plus, since you didn't really say anything about any of them in your opening post, there's not much room for discussion which almost always results in short, spammy replies. You are free to post about any one of these bands/artists at a time as long as you provide some basis for discussion in your opening post. Be sure to read over the Rules and FAQ if you haven't done so already. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other Staff member. Thread closed.

Yeah, you can drag on Windows but I commenting on the transparent version you get while dragging, which only happens on a Mac.
-
Not a feature of the browser but a feature of Mac OS in general. Dragging images from the browser lets you do some things with them. For instance, dragging that little transparent logo (or any other image for that matter) to your desktop will give you a local copy of it.

Hiding the links isn't necessary. All you have to do is take out the URLs for your sites under Favorite Anime. You can also make them links with shorter click-able text. Either option will reduce the width of the side bar and help your page to better fit within the window. As a reference, to make links, use the following code: Link Text You can also add target="_blank" to the code to make the link open in a new window. Hope this helps!

OtakuBoards is not a search engine. For members to help you, they'd have to do exactly what you would. My suggestion is to just go over to Google (or another search engine of your choice) and start looking. Good luck! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other Staff member. Thread closed.

I can't tell you how to delete it since I'm not sure if you can but I can tell you how to hide it. Add the following code to your intro and it will disappear: .panel{display: none;}

Downloading is not always an issue if you're careful and downloading music is almost never a cause for this kind of thing. This usually happens when you venture into cracked programs and the like, which you said you don't do so I'm really not sure how this ended up on your computer unless your roommate just made a mistake.
-
I don't think you downloaded IE7 from an unofficial site - that's not what I meant. I only mentioned the downloading because that's usually the case. If it's not for you, I'm not sure what to say. Maybe try going further back (a good week before the problem started) and see if that helps?
-
In the end, you really just have to be careful of what you click. I've been using IE7 for quite a while now and have yet to have a problem like that. Now, I'm not accusing you of anything but the only sure way to keep things like that from happening is to pay very careful attention to what you're downloading and installing. My suggestion: create a restore point before installing anything you're not 100% sure about. That way, if something goes wrong, you can always revert back.
-
Hmm... my only suggestion here before moving on to thinking of a different cause would be to disconnect all non-OS drives (I mean everything - hard drives, disk drives, anything else that requires power and isn't absolutely necessary) and see if the computer starts okay and detects it right away. I'd go through restarting a couple of times for this test. Following that, maybe add one more device at a time and see how that goes. It really does sound like power could be a problem but it's not definite. As for your graphics problem which I neglected last time, do you have the most recent drivers and the most up to date version of DirectX installed? If you do, download the driver/software package anyway, uninstall the card from the device manager, and reinstall. This sometimes fixes issues with graphics cards. Otherwise, without being able to see it in person, I'm not sure how many options before rebuild you have left though again, I'm not ready to suggest that just yet.
-
What do you mean exactly? Are you having trouble submitting fan art, putting up an avatar or background on your myOtaku site, or something else entirely?
-
Open the case and check the output on the power supply. Then, check the required input on each of the devices. If the total required input of all of the devices exceeds the output of the power supply, that's likely your problem.
-
My thoughts are actually a power supply problem. Are you sure the PSU is enough to power the devices you have connected?
-
As I was reading your post, my first thought was rebuild but I hate to suggest something that drastic so soon. So instead, I'll ask a question: are the random undetected devices detected during start up and then not once the OS loads or are they not detected even during boot? Also, which computer is this (if I remember correctly, you said you have a Mac and a PC somewhere)?
I only really enjoyed Borat a little bit. While I found the movie very amusing in many parts I never found it to be laugh out loud funny.
I felt the same way. I thought the movie had it's moments and I'm glad I saw it but I really didn't think it was that great.
I'd easily consider Borat to be the funniest movie at all time. I laughed consistently throughout the entire thing and usually had to stop myself from laughing just to hear the next joke.
People saying things like this are likely the reason I didn't like it much though (2007DigitalBoy, I'm not criticizing you - just using your post as an example). So many people came up to me and told me it was the funniest movie they have ever seen that I expected more than it delivered. The same thing happened to me with Napoleon Dynamite, though I will say that I liked Borat more. Finding out that most of it wasn't staged after having seen the movie made me like it a bit more, though knowing this during the movie would likely have been better.

Just a quick note: I merged the three Avatar threads. I realize that they weren't all active at the same time but I thought since there was some good conversation and information in all three, it would make sense to put it all together. At this point, I'd like to declare this the official Avatar thread and it should be used for all further Avatar related discussion, regardless of the last post date.

I know this has been a problem in the past. There is nothing that can be done from the user end. Des is right, it can only be fixed by an admin. The only thing I can suggest is that you try to contact the staff at theOtaku again.
