Hmm... Both good points but I especially agree that the lack of clutter is nice. It's a problem we currently have on another forum - too many stuck threads but none of them are unimportant enough to remove or related enough to combine.

All of the custom titles went away when the software was upgraded to version 4. Apparently, one of the new features was the removal of fun things. While I can't make it purple and bold any more, I can at least set the title back, which is now done. Thanks! Also, learning about things none of us have ever used is useful though! Not sure when featuring a thread would be adventageous but at least we know we can now.

And today I learned that, apparently, this version of IPB does not log moderator actions (or much else, for that matter). Fun!

Hey everyone! I finally finished the transfer of OB to my new server tonight. Everything about the process took longer than expected but I guess, for a site with this much history, the ridiculous amount of data actually makes sense in hindsight. Anyway, as always with transfers like this, there are bound to be some bugs I missed along the lines. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, please let me know here. Thanks!

Wow, sorry to hear that though I am glad to hear things are going well and that they usually have good results with it. Best of luck with the rest of your treatment and recovery.

Can I make a suggestion? Don't do either of those things. It's a hard workout but it's definitely possible and absolutely worth it in the end.
-
I haven't done the Insanity workout but I've heard it's tough. Good luck! Also, I could have sworn I replied to this at some point. I started working out a couple of years ago after I realized I got way too heavy in college and it's been great. I'll actually be headed to the gym in about two hours, come to think of it.

I would have loved to disagree with you here but I, unfortunately, think you're entirely correct. DLC should never have turned into what it is today. Back in the older Halo days, it worked well and should have stayed like that. You paid for and received a full game, the developers continued to support the game for a while after release, and DLC was entirely new additional content, not bits of the game that were locked away behind a paywall. People are in it for a quick buck now though and micro-transactions and frivolous DLC seem to be the norm instead of the exception. The fact that this spread from mobile to "mainstream" gaming is disappointing. That said, I do think the freemium model can be handled well. Team Fortress 2 does a good job of it by making the items you can by have no impact on the actual gameplay. That way, you can support further development of the game without ever finding yourself in a "pay-to-win" situation.

Might as well make it official now! It's already been great seeing all of you again leading up to today. Let's get things started!

I much prefer Skype as a chat platform so this plan has my vote.

Okay, so it took some digging but I found backups of the original Otakupedia's as well as what should be a complete database backup. I'll see what I can do about getting it all online and put up a link when it's ready. Edit: Seems to be working now: http://www.otakuboards.com/otakupedia/

I should still have copies of it somewhere, I hope. I'll see if I can find it.

Hello and welcome! You are absolutely the first new member in a while but it's good to see old and new faces alike! I'm sorry to say that things aren't nearly as active around here as they used to be but enjoy your time all the same.
-
Facebook chat you say? As much as I tend to avoid Facebook, someone let me know how to join this? And it really is incredible to see the turnout so far. I can't believe how many people continue to come back!

Not even a little bit.

I'm running out the door and can't respond to this as thoroughly as I want to right now but I do want to at least quickly throw in my support for the idea. I've always wanted to do a "reunion" of sorts. I'd love to see this evolve into a yearly thing or wherever it goes from there but I'm getting ahead of myself - let's see how this first one goes and move from there.
-
Oh, that wasn't a joke? It was actually a bug report? I'll need to test it myself but sure, go ahead and re-create as well - more tests can never hurt.
-
I seem to remember when you were working on that design. It's a shame we never actually implemented it, especially now since we're currently just using the default theme.
-
It just means we can't update the software at the moment. It will continue to run indefinitely on the current version and the license can be renewed for $25/6 months. Adam is usually pretty on top of keeping that up to date so I'm not sure what's going on at the moment either but it may mean we should talk about how we move forward at this point.

Even without a full return to our former glory, it's moments like this that make me really happy this place is still here.

So, there's a tiny chance that I did something stupid and accidentally imported the backup database over the live one instead of into a separate set of tables. I restored the live version from the most recent backup (6 PM EST) which means we lost like 4 posts but otherwise, everything is good. Allamorph, I know you mentioned an issue with line spacing. This new editor translates text directly into HTML instead of using BB code and treats carriage returns as paragraph tags. You can still do single line breaks by using Shift + Enter though. (My previous explanation was probably a little better but I don't remember exactly what I said.)
-
Okay, so I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that the content that's missing from those posts is, in fact, gone. It seems the conversion from BB code to HTML stripped the custom formatting that was present in these posts. The good nows is that I have a pre-conversion backup of the entire database and have successfully mounted it on my own home server and that content is still present. Once the conversion is finished, I'll play with some settings and then update the posts on the live version using the content from the backup. That should, hopefully, restore the content and trigger another conversion which won't break the posts with the right settings. This is all speculation at the moment but since I have backups of both the live and archived data, the worst case scenario if a few hours of downtime. One way or another, I'll fix this.
-
I admittedly only skimmed at first. I do see what you're talking about. Not sure if that is an artifact of the post rebuilding process or if content was actually lost somewhere along the way. It might be worth it to take a look at an archive of the page to compare. Avoid modifying any of it for now though, just in case.
-
I just looked through that thread and it seemed fine to me (content-wise anyway - formatting is still a bit broken). What's missing for you?
-
This should already be possible but may be broken until the conversion finishes. After the upgrade, there are a ton of background processes that need to run to get everything up to date so, while new content is behaving correctly, old content still needs some (automated) work. For finding your own posts, just drop down the "Sort By" option at the top of the thread list and choose custom. Finding posts by others in a specific forum seems to be a bit more difficult now but, for the time being, click on the search box on the forum you'd like to search, drop down the "All Content" option, and choose "This Forum". You can also limit what you're searching against from this dropdown. Additionally, this method can also be used within individual threads by choosing "This Topic" from the dropdown instead. If you have any other questions, just let me know!
