No, I don't think you understand what I'm trying to explain here. A dynamic IP address is the standard that an ISP gives you. You cannot change your own IP address - it changes itself every so often - around five years for me. They do this to make it more difficult to do things like host your own website without paying extra for the static IP. A static IP does not change and makes setting up a website easier but also costs much more. They're usually not bought for home users because the general home user does not really care what their IP is.
-
Static IPs do exist but they are not used in the way your friend says they are. A static IP is just that - static. It does not change. They are generally not given to home users and if they are, it is far more expensive than a dynamic IP so it's not worth it unless you're doing something in which your require that your IP does not change.

I think I see what he is suggesting and I really doubt it would ever happen (but I am only speaking on behalf of myself - not the entire staff). This site stresses post quality and a forum created for the sole purpose of being able to post whatever you want, even if it does not increase your post count, goes against everything that OtakuBoards was built on and currently thrives on. It would be a forum essentially inviting people to spam. So if you ask me, there's almost no chance of this being an option. Like I said though, this is only my opinion so do not take my post as the final word of the entire staff.

If you downloaded from the link I gave you, you need to host the files online and have access to PHP and mySQL. Once it's up, you use a web-based administration menu to add tracks to it. Check the demos on the site if you're confused about this.

Heh, the answer to that question will not be so easily found. Making a flash jukebox requires the actual Flash application, which is fairly expensive, as well as knowing how to use it to create the layout and then writing ActionScript behind it to make it work. You're better off finding one online that's already made. For instance, here is one that I've seen in action and works very nicely. The downside there is that it requires a host which supports PHP and mySQL for it to work.

What do you mean by "advanced customization benefits?" Do you mean how can using some advanced HTML/CSS make your site look better? If that's the case, I think the answer to that one is pretty obvious. If you know what you're doing, you can make things look pretty nice but be careful if you're just copying things from other people because that can lead to your site being unreadable.
-
You won't be able to use it if HTML is disabled in the forum you're trying to embed it in. To embed a flash file, you'd need to use the embed HTML tag, which you can find details for online. PNGs are a little easier. They are displayed using the same tag as any other image and do not need HTML. Just use [*img]URL to your PNG file[/img] (remember to remove the * or it won't work) for the image file.
I guess the mods took pity on me after a while because I am here now.
Either that or your IP address changed. When you get an IP address from an ISP, you get what's called a dynamic IP address. It will end up changing every few years or so, depending on the ISP. If yours changed after the IP ban, you'd be able to get back to the site.
-
No, buying a new computer would not work. Your IP address is not linked to your computer - it's linked to your ISP so you could by a thousand new computers and still have the same IP address.

My wager is one post. Hey look, I win! I'm sorry but I really don't think that this thread is going to generate anything but spam. No real thought goes into adding "in my pants" to the end of a song title and because of that, there most likely will not be any conversation generated either. Thread closed.

Generally, I'd just delete the last post and send a PM but because there was more than one reply, I'll take care of it this way instead. The last post in this thread was in December of 2004. That is a good year and a half ago. If you'd like to talk about Eminem, you are free to create a new thread but in the future, please do not bring back long dead ones. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other staff member. Thread closed.
Don't believe him. Look at his title. He is a Moderator, and his one aim is to fool you into believing his lies so that he can stay at the top end of the ranks. Don't be sucked in! You can make it to the very top, buddy.
While you are technically correct, there's one thing I'd like to point out to avoid confusion (and I know you know this already) - you cannot move up in rank to a Moderator after a certain number of posts or anything like that. It is a promotion done manually by an Administrator. I just wanted to mention that in case you thought it might happen automatically after a while. Edit: On second thought, I retract my previous statement to jump on Desbrkeko's obviously much cooler bandwagon.

You could make another account if you went to say, a friend's house, after being IP banned but you could not use that account from your own house. An IP ban works by keeping the user of that IP address from accessing the site at all so even if they did make a new account, they wouldn't be able to log in from the banned IP.

I can't see it from school because for whatever reason, it's blocked by the school's network but chances are, it's the Javascript. The last time I looked at it and tested the code that was written, it did not work in all browsers and really, only worked in IE for me. If Javascript is disabled all together though, it won't work at all. I know this doesn't help too much but maybe it will give you an idea.

How do you make it where you can see your bg on myotaku??

This has been covered so many times already that you would have received an answer much faster had you run a quick search first. Anyway, here's a link to the most recent thread where this question was answered. -
Uhhh... you spelled 'embarrassing' and 'necessary' wrong. ^_^
I was going to send this in a PM but I couldn't resist posting it considering the thread. It's that type of post that makes pointing out mistakes publicly a necessity. Your post there had no relevance to the topic at hand and can only accomplish one thing - creating a problem that did not need to be created, assuming the original poster is annoyed by that comment. See? Now if this wasn't posted, the same thing may have happened again later on in the thread ;)

We already have an active V for Vendetta thread, which can be found here. Please use that thread if you would like to talk about the movie as we only allow one thread per topic to reduce clutter. And in the future, it's best to use the search feature before posting a new thread to see if there is already an active thread for your topic. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other staff member. Thread closed.

Heh, after re-reading the post, I see what you're saying... Oops. When I see resolution though, I automatically jump to desktop background as the dimensions of an image on a website never really matter due to different desktop resolutions. But yes, to add to Desbreko's post, follow what he said to do and then just make sure it's hosted somewhere online so you can link to it.

There have been two recent threads that covered this topic. You can find those threads here and here. It's best to do a search before posting a new thread to see if your question has already been answered.

Did you draw this picture on paper or in a program? And if it's on paper, do you have a scanner and have you scanned it yet? If you have the file on your computer in one way or another, you can try just setting it as your background - the computer will stretch it to fill the screen which usually doesn't look too bad though it does depend on the original dimensions of the image.

I'm pretty sure that you can't link to a file (which was probably an attachment, right?) that is part of an email. I've never tried it though so it's an interesting idea. What kind of email account is it (i.e. Hotmail, Yahoo, GMail, etc.)?
Umm... ain't this supposed to be "The state of the cat ain't really one (dead) or the other (alive) unless we can ascertain by observation that the cat is of one state and surely not the other (or vice versa)"? It's not that we can scratch out the existence of the cat; we can only go so far thinking about how the cat is. So, if you construct the thought experiment that way, it's a lot easier to relate to Schrodinger's equations, probability density and consequently Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle.[/size']
We talked about this recently in my Physics class actually. If I remember correctly, it wasn't so much that you don't know if the cat is dead or alive but because you can't see it, the cat is both dead and alive at the same time, from your point of view anyway. The subject is really pretty interesting but some of it doesn't make too much sense at first.

My friend got me to sit down and watch this a while ago. At first, I wasn't too sure about it but after a couple of episodes, I thought it was hilarious. It does require a certain sense of humor and because of that, isn't suited for everyone but I know I found it funny.
Also, two more things I've just noticed. The back & forward arrows that are used at the bottom of the website don't work for me, I went to the reviews section and wanted to get to the next page yet the arrows wouldn't take me back or forward but the Home button works. I'm sure you already knew this though.
These back and forward buttons aren't for what you think they are. They are just buttons added to the page to replicate the browser's back and forward buttons. They won't work if Javascript isn't enabled on your browser or if you have no page to go back or forward to.

As with any favorites thread, it is important to explain why you picked your choices. List after list after list doesn't do much for the discussion. A full review of the movie isn't necessary but a simple reason as to why the movie(s) you picked are your favorites help. Just keep that in mind for any further posts in this thread.
