We already have a Serenity thread here. If you'd like to talk about the movie, you can use that thread. Before creating a thread, please use the search feature, or at least look over the thread list, to see if the thread you're creating already exists. If it does (and it's not too old), use the existing thread. Otherwise, you are free to create a new one. I'd advise that you look over the Rules and FAQ before you continue posting.
I know its not a perfect idea but what harm could it do? And don't even say "the site will blow up"
While the site wouldn't blow up, it would have to be a custom add-on to the forum. Those usually take a lot of time to make. And if you don't want to look at the profile, Baron and Dagger both mentioned one important point - the name change is mentioned in your signature and usually, the person whose name was changed will leave that note there for at least a little while. With something like that, there doesn't seem to be a reason to add a section for it. Plus, are people any more likely to look there than at the profile of another user? And if it was displayed on the main page, how long would it have to stay before it was taken off. Chances are, there would still be some people that miss the notification.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, crazybarrelhors. We have some rules here that we ask you read over before posting. So, please take a look at the Rules and FAQ before your next post. I deleted your last post in this thread for a couple of reasons. First of all, there is a high standard for post quality here. Your post did not follow it. More importantly though, the only purpose that post would have served was to anger other members, which we do not want to happen. So please keep this in mind for the future. ChibiHorsewoman, the only edit I made to your post was to remove the deleted post from your quote.
Oh yeah Petie, theres just one small problem with what you said about Halo 1 not having online capabilites; Sega were the only ones which had a console with online capabilites and were rather tight-lipped about it. The X-Box also didn't have X-Box live at the time of release.
I thought I had Live when Halo was released but I realize now that I didn't get Halo right when it came out so you do bring up a good point there. Come to think of it, I actually got it pretty late which is probably what caused me to think Live was out at the launch of the game. They couldn't exactly include support for a system (in this case, Xbox Live) that didn't exist. Even so though, my point remains in-tact if you apply it to something else, which you did rather effectively in your post.
-
I'm sure that developers sometimes leave content out to make room for sequels but I do not think this was the case in Halo. Chances are, they just didn't think of it as necessary at the time. Now, before I get into that, I just want to point out that the main selling point of Halo 2 was not the dual-wielding feature. It was, without any shadow of a doubt, the Xbox Live online multiplayer. The dual-wielding is nice and adds some interesting features but was by no means the selling point. Now, I figure that dual-wielding wasn't included in Halo because Bungie just didn't see it as needed (or didn't think of it). They were taking a chance on a new system with a new title (obviously not a re-make of an older game) and put as much as they could in. If you just look at the difference between Halo and Halo 2, you'll see that they improved a lot, probably based on input from the players. This doesn't necessarily mean that they left out this content originally so they'd have something to add to the next game, just that it wasn't deemed necessary at the beginning. The best example of that relating to Halo would actually be the Live online play. Bungie wasn't sure how the game would be received at launch which is (in my opinion anyway) probably why they didn't include online play in the original Halo. Why spend that much money on a game that could possibly fail horribly? With the success of Halo though, they saw the importance of online multiplayer and included it in Halo 2. So, to answer your question, developers might leave out content sometimes but it doesn't seem to be something that gets done a lot (at least that's how I see it).

Welcome to OtakuBoards, pokepal4eva and final_warrior05. Double (and triple, and so on) posting is not allowed here. Adding a new post solely to bump your topic to the top of the list is considered spam. If you would like to add more to your last post, just use the Edit button at the bottom right of the post. That's what it's there for. Also, when posting a favorites thread, be sure to explain your choices as a thread full of lists will be closed. Just give a little explanation of why you picked your favorite band so the thread will continue to generate discussion. Finally, we already have an active favorite genre thread here. If you would like to talk about your favorite types of music (where you are then free to use bands to explain those choices), please use that thread. I see that you asked for more than just music but we already have a thread for favorite types of movies as well (which can be found here if you're interested). I'd advise that you read over the Rules and FAQ before you continue posting. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other Moderator. Thread closed.

I merged both of the active favorite genre threads. I've noticed that some of you are just listing bands/genres. From now on, please explain your choices. This will help to promote discussion rather than have a thread filled with lists. Thanks.

Brasil, thank you for your kind and in-depth review. I really appreciate you taking the time to go through it like that. And I guess you're right about Link's description but I needed something to rhyme with time ^_^ And DragonBlood, Known and Gannon were not intended to rhyme and shouldn't be read as such. I didn't notice that originally though.

I'm currently employed at GameStop. I say employed and not working because I haven't actually started yet. I applied like a year and a half ago when they first opened and I was hired as a temporary holiday Game Adviser a couple of weeks ago. They are looking to keep one of the temporary people on after the holiday though and luckily, one of the employees I know pretty well there said he'd talk to the manager about me being that person. And because he's moving to a different store soon, that opens up two spots. Pay is minimum wage but I can't complain. It's my first real job and I'm really just getting paid to talk about video games with people. My main job is customer service which isn't bad. I just hope I'm able to stay on after Christmas. Come to think of it though, I do wonder when I'll be starting. The manager said that training starts in November so it should be some time soon. Oh, and if you haven't heard of GameStop, they recently bought EB Games so it's all one big company now.

I have a very similar view (more or less identical actually) to Desbreko in this case. I generally tend to end up playing both sides in a game which lets you choose your side. For instance, in Fable, while I never finished it (my friend only let me borrow it for an afternoon before he took it back - I still have to borrow it again), I played through the first time as purely (for the most part) good. I then planned on playing through a second time as evil. That's really just how I approach games like that. I guess the only moral issue I have in these types of cases is that when I have allies or even just townspeople, I usually don't like killing them for no reason (unless I'm playing through as purely evil). I'll only kill someone (in a game like Fable) if it is necessary when I'm playing through on the good side. Also, take Sonic Adventure 2. In order to complete the game, you had to play both sides all the way through. If I remember correctly, I played as the good side first and the bad side second. I liked playing as both sides though and the game was a lot of fun.

For all intents and purposes, I'm completely Italian (Sicilian to be specific). All of my mom's side of the family is from Sicily. My dad's side we are not completely sure about as he was adopted. As far as we know, he was part Italian as well which makes my blood mostly Italian. As for the rest of his heritage, we're not sure so there could be little bits of other blood in me but not that I'm aware of.

My username, as it seems, is very simple. My real name is Peter, as is my dad's. I was named after my grandfather though so I'm not Peter Jr. It was my mom's plan to name her first son after her father. It just worked out that her husband's name would be Peter too ^_^ Anyway, I'm a little off topic. The point in mentioning that is that Petie is what my parents (and a few friends, randomly I may add) call me to avoid confusion. It became the login for my home network, my email address, and later, my username for this and myOtaku. I tend to use this username for most things that I register for now. So yeah, that's the story. No fancy origins for me - just a simple nickname ^_^

Cabby, double posting is not allowed here. If you would like to add more to your original post, please use the edit button. Also, when you are posting, please make sure the post has some content to it. "SEVERE UPDATE!" does not constitute content and will only produce spammy replies. The same goes for you Sanoske_Interow - make sure your posts contain some content that will promote discussion. This is why your posts were deleted. Please take a look at the Rules and FAQ before you continue posting. We're studying the medieval time period in my English class right now and for a small project to incorporate our Vocabulary unit into the lesson, we had to write a ballad which included five vocabulary words. Now, I am by no means a poet and this is the first piece I've written so keep that in mind while you're reading it. The five vocabulary words are underlined.
The Hero of Time There once was a boy of legend, Whose name was known by all. He rescued the princess, Zelda, Before her greatest fall. His name was Link and he was known, As the Hero of Time. For when he went to fight Gannon, He put an end to crime. The battle was frenetic there, He gleaned a needed edge. Link used a brilliant stratagem, He knocked him off a ledge. The day was saved, the princess safe, The kingdom in concord. The disarray thus ended then, And Link re-sheathed his sword.
I'm open to any suggestions you may have and I'd be happy to incorporate them if they could help. Please bear in mind that the ballad should follow an ABCB rhyme scheme and an 8686 syllable scheme. As it is due tomorrow though, any changes would have to be made tonight. So, I guess all that's left to say is this: What do you think?

TIFFJUGGALETTE, once again, please do not bring back long dead threads. This one is approaching three years since its last post. If there is not an active thread for a topic which you would like to discuss, you are free to create one. Just don't bring back ones that are this old. The Rules and FAQ, which are also on the left, are there to help you understand why this thread is being closed. Please read them. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other Moderator. Thread closed.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, TIFFJUGGALETTE. Before you continue posting, I'd like to direct you to the Rules and the FAQ. Please read through them. Double posting (and triple posting, and so on) is not allowed here. If you'd like to add more to your post after you click submit, you can use the edit button at the bottom right hand corner of your post. That's what it's there for. Also, this thread is over two years old. We ask that you do not bring back threads that have been dead for this long. You are free to create a new topic if you'd like to talk about Insane Clown Posse. This applies to any thread, as long as there is not a currently active thread of the same topic. Finally, please refrain from using all caps in your posts. We have a standard for post quality here so using proper grammar and punctuation is important. So, like I said, just read over the rules before you continue posting. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other Moderator. Thread closed.

Okay, I figured the brackets were here because of the post and what you said makes sense. I still figured I'd mention it though because sometimes, it's as simple as not noticing something like that ^_^ I guess that leaves only one option - the URL is too long. Problem solved.
-
Well first of all, why do you have a ] in front of the links? Is that supposed to be there for this post or are you actually pasting that in. That could definitely be a problem if you're putting in the bracket. The thing I thought of first is just that the URL is too long. There is a limit to the number of characters you can use for fields in your backroom. If you need to, you can use something like TinyURL to shorten the links first. Just remember to remove that bracket if you haven't done so already.

I found out about the Mad King fairly randomly (and then saw it on here) so I did my best to try to catch him. I was originally going to go at 6 but I was still at school doing something for the school play then. So, I found him at 9. Goddess, I can definitely see why you couldn't do much there. While I was there, it got to 194 districts of Lion's Arch, a lot of which I figure were pretty filled. It was fun though, as long as you had an internet connection/computer that could support it. Dying in a town was an interesting change (I kneeled instead of bowed... twice). And the Pumpkin Crown was a nice treat ^_^ I also liked the Mad King's Guards. It was really interesting to see a bunch of candy-corn henchmen following you around.
-
The little Halloween additions were a nice surprise ^_^ And the pumpkins look enough like pumpkins that you can tell what they are so that works just fine for me.

I'd be happy to help you but I'd really need some more clarification as to what you mean. Could you possibly be talking about "Active Desktop Items" ? If that's the case, they're very easy to remove. To remove an active desktop item, right click on a non-active part of your desktop and click on properties. Then, go to the Desktop tab and click on the Customize Desktop button. In the new window that opens, click on the web tab. My Current Homepage cannot be removed but make sure it's unchecked. For any other Active Desktop Items you have there (which are probably checked), click on them and hit the delete button. Click yes and it should be gone. Then just click OK on that screen and the first screen and you should be good to go. And if that's not what you were talking about, sorry for taking you through all of that for nothing.

Just to add to Panda's post, if it's the actual member title you're referring to (like "New Member" and "Member"), you cannot change that. It will automatically change from "New Member" to "Member" once you reach 50 posts. Any other title you see there (for instance, Panda's or my title) can only be changed by an Administrator and indicates a member of the staff.
-
Go to the backroom of your site and click on Edit Styles. Then, in the Add A Background Image section, just type in the URL of the image you want to use. You can't use one that's on your computer though. If there's an image on your computer you want to use, you'll have to put it online first. To do this, you can use something like Photobucket or Imageshack (though Photobucket gives you a bit more) to upload your images and then link to them from there.
-
Yes, 50 posts will get you the "Member" title.
