1. Well I haven't actually met any stars though I did come very close to bumping into one (literally). I was at a Broadway show (can't think of the title right now) and during the intermission, I was going to get something to drink. I turned the corner of the stairs without looking and almost walked straight into Denzel Washington. I didn't recognize him at first but my dad did and told me after he walked by. Thinking back on it now, I sort of wish I did walk into him, just to say I did ;) As for who I'd like to meet, there's one person who comes to mind right away - Shigeru Miyamoto. I have been a huge fan of the Zelda series for some time now and Super Mario Bros was one of the first games I ever played. This man is a genius and I'd love to meet him.
  2. I actually had a pretty odd dream last night. It started in a school building that was a cross between my grade school and my high school in the auditorium. We were having an assembly of some sort. I'm really not sure for what reason and I can't exactly remember what was said. I can remember that it was sort of a modified version of my grade school auditorium though. Anyway, we now had a balcony above the stage for some reason which is where I ended up sitting (after sort of appearing there from the bottom somehow...) for the assembly. After talking to a couple of people (though I can't place who they were) and then last year's English teacher (form the high school - remember, we're in the grade school auditorium) I ended up in the hallway of the basement at my high school right outside my Multimedia classroom. I went inside and noticed that the room was completely different (I have 8 people in my Multimedia class and we sit at more or less tables, not desks - when I walked in, there were a good 30 people and normal desks). So, I walked back out only to be jumped by another student and have Hershey's Chocolate Syrup squirted at me. I walked into the bathroom which was horribly filthy, changed my shirt, and the dream ended. This was weird for a few reasons though. First, this obviously never happened. Second, I'm not even in school right now - Spring Break. And finally, I hadn't seen anything school related on TV or anything like that so this just sort of came out of the blue.
  3. I agree with what you're saying but I wouldn't count on it happening any time soon. If you look at the addresses of the sites, they all start with archives.theotaku.com. This means that chances are, they won't be updated and new sites will not be added. It would seem that content for all animes relies strictly on the users of the site now.
  4. While this does not hold true for all of the animes, some of them do have their own sites. For instance, I found theOtaku originally when I was looking up information for Yu-Gi-Oh. theOtaku has their own Yu-Gi-Oh site here with a lot of the type of information you were looking for. All you have to do to see if the anime you're looking for once had its own site is to go to that anime's hub. At the bottom of the description, if it had its own site, you'll see a link to it. Edit: I had some free time on my hands so I put together a list of all the animes that have their own sites. Here it is (with links):

.hcak//SIGN
Akira
Cowboy Bebop
Digimon
DragonBall Z/GT
Evenglion
Gundam Wing
Inuyasha
Ninja Scroll
Outlaw Star
Princess Mononoke
Trigun
Vampire Hunter D
Yu-Gi-Oh!
5. Deleting registry keys can be a dangerous move though. And worse yet, it doesn't always work. Just be sure you know what you're doing and where exactly the keys are before you press delete - or have System Restore ready.
  6.
The fact of the matter is that most of the time this stuff winds up on your computer without your direct knowledge or is included in software installs of other programs. There's not a single 100% way to avoid getting them on a Windows-based PC other than never using the internet. I certainly get far less if I stick around reputable sites, but you honestly never know. Updating Windows helps, but people figure out ways to get through any of their fixes so quickly that it barely even matters sometimes.
You're right. What it comes down to is that unless you somehow know everything that's going on in every step of an installation or a visit to a website, which no one does, then you're never 100% safe. To be more on the safe side though, read everything very carefully before installing software. I have a perfect example of this. I'm sure many of you know of a program called MSN Plus. Well when I went to install that, I wasn't really reading it so when it got to the last screen before the install, I just checked off yes and clicked continue without reading the rest. Turns out that I just agreed to have it install the LOP toolbar which was a big mistake. Had I actually read the directions to begin with, I would have noticed that it said Yes, I agree to participate with your sponsors or No, do not install sponsor software with MSN Plus (or something along those lines). So while even that won't keep you completely safe from spy/adware, it will help a lot to read everything before flying through installation steps.
  7. Unfortunately though, there's really only one way to blick spy ware and that's to avoid getting it to begin with. It's not easy to do but to start, never run anything online that says something like "You must click yes to continue" unless it is from a trusted company (like Microsoft's Windows Update for instance). Other than that, just keep doing what you're doing to remove it and it should help a little at least.
  8. Yes, it is very sloppy to not use quotes but they really aren't required. And single quotes, while they do work, may confuse things because in general, single quotes are for JavaScript and double quotes are for HTML. You can use either way and still get it to work though. Something important to note though - things will be messed up if you're using a value in the tag with a space in it and you don't use quotes. So in that case, single quotes are probably the best way to go.
  9. This is an old thread but I feel it may be important to just share this information. While you should use quotation marks in HTML, they are not required for the tags to work. Using ... and ... will have the same result. So yes, you can use HTML in the menu bar but you can't use quotes in the tags.
  10. Your hits only go up when someone new visits. People who have already been to your site and later come back will not add to your hits. Your six comments were probably from people you already knew.
  11. I've sent a couple of PMs about this but never actually got a reply. I've noticed that when a user links his or her myOtaku account to their OB account, View and Sign guestbook links appear below the uesr's avatar. Now whether or not this was on purpose or not but both the View and Sign Guestbook links take you to the guestbook. I just think it would be better if the View link took you to the user's main page and the Sign link took you to the Guestbook. Though like I said, I'm not sure if this was done on purpose or not. Edit: 8:26 PM Okay, so on further inspection, I realized that the myOtaku last updated text is actually a link to the main site. I still think that having View and Sign Guestbook is a little misleading though - specially when you take into consideration that signing and viewing the guestbook take place on the same page.
  12. I originally found myOtaku while I was looking up some Yu-Gi-Oh information on theOtaku. I wasn't really sure what it had to offer but the little ad on the side encouraging you to register drew me in from the start. I figured I'd make an account and see how it goes from there. My site is myOtaku.com: Petie and while I wasn't sure how long I'd stick with it, it really has become a part of my everyday life now. I didn't have a blog before this and as far as I was concerned at the time, I had no intentions of making one. It's not that I was against them, I just really didn't think I'd have one. Heh, I guess I was wrong. I generally just post about what happened during the day. Nothing all to interesting, though sometimes, as I found out last month, it can be. See, last month, I waas in Italy for 9 days and people who visited my site seemed to be pretty interested in what I had to say. Slowly, as I learned more about HTML and CSS, I started messing around with my site to see what I could do. If you take a look now, you'll notice that a lot has changed ftom the original design. A lot of my changes stemmed from a growing list of friends and not enough space to display their buttons. From there, I just continued to experiment until I ended up with what I have now. I've had a lot of questions on how it was done and I'm glad that people are interested. Like James originally said, it gives people an idea of what they could do if they wanted to. One thing I don't do that I see a lot of people do around myOtaku though is change my layout often. Since I registered, I've only ever changed it twice (three different color schemes). The original was blue, followed by green, and now red. I don't know, I just like a consistent look and after a while, I'll end up changing it again.
  13. To be honest, I don't think there's anything you can really do short of buying an American version of the game. It would be a lot of work and you could end up damaging your PS2 to try to make it read that game. Mu suggestion would be to just go and buy the US version (if it's out in the US).
  14. I'm mostly Italian. I guess the things I do most linked to that are first of all, a dinner of pasta (with sauce home-made by my grandmother) every Sunday. Also, and this is just because my mom's a Latin teacher, I've been to Italy on tours a few times with her Latin class. Though I haven't been to Sicily, where my family is actually from.
  15. From what you've said though, another browser wouldn't fix the problem. My first suggestion, no matter what OS you're using, is to run the update for it (i.e. Windows Update). Especially if you're running Windows XP, install Service Pack 2 and it will put a pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer. It seems that it is not the browser that is causing the problem though. You most likely just have ad/spyware which can be extremely hard to remove. Check Add/Remove Programs (Windows) for anything that doesn't seem to fit in there (i.e. $aveNow) and remove it. Also, if you're using Kazaa, get rid of it and install something else. Kazaa causes some major popup problems. If you can give me some more details, I may be able to help you a little better.
  16. Problem solved Red. But for anyone else who is curious how to get Luigi, this is what you have to do:
Go to the courtyard with the fountain and the ghosts. Look for one ghost that is larger than the others. Use Mario to stomp him. Enter the small object that it drops to reach Boo's mansion. Get the first Star. On the second one, go up to the second floor. Continue on to defeat Big Boo and get Luigi's key.

  17. I've known about this game and had seen some screen shots before this since a while ago but not as many as this. This game keeps getting better and better looking and I can't wait to play it now. It should prove to be an interesting twist to the classic Zelda gameplay.
  18. Sorry, I won't actually know until Christmas unfortunately. How is Super Mario 64 DS though? I'm really looking foward to it so getting some info before hand should help ^_^ Anyway, I'll try to find out how to find Luigi and get back to you though someone will probably tell you before I find out anyway.
  19. I have two that come to mind at this point. The first of these two is the final Bowser battle in Super Mario 64. What really made it stand out for me, aside from the new attacks and the three hit requirement on a crumbling platform, was the music. It really hit me that this was the final battle when that music started playing and right away, I knew it wouldn't be easy. It was really the organ that made it so different and it was unexpected after the first two. I actually just went online to find the song again to listen to while I'm typing this and it just reinforces my point in my own mind even more. The second battle that really stands out in my mind is actually a combination of two and this one was actually done over the weekend. For the first time ever, I finally played through all of The Legend of Zelda: Ocraina of Time. I had only ever played some of it with a friend and I thought, being the Zelda fan that I am, it was about time to play it. I'm now very glad that I did. It really was an amazing game even when compared to today's standards. I'm sure most of you know of the combination of two boss battles that I'm talking about - Gannondorf and immediately after, Ganon, the Kind of Evil himself. Even after watching my friend play through these battles, they were still great to play through myself. The battle with Ganon also made for some nice looking stunts like back-flipping away from an attack. It was just an all around fun battle to do. And while I'm on the Zelda battle subject, I'd also like to point out the final battle with Majora's Mask in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. While having the Fierce Deity's mask made this battle pretty simple, it was a fun one to play out for the sheer increase in power that that mask gave you. And I'm sure it would be an extremely difficult battle without the mask. Also, the Garos (Stone Tower Temple - Temple 4) was quite an interesting one. It required that you used the Giant's mask to defeat him which was an interesting twist. Anyway, these have been some of my most memorable boss battles. I'm glad I found this topic because it brings back some good memories from Mario 64 ^_^

Oh ok then. The other thing it could be though is the TV itself if it cuts out completly. THe TV I have downstairs has front AV jacks that are broken now and the video jack doesn't really work at all without holding it in a certain way. If this is the problem, the only way to fix it is to plug it in somwehre else, use S-Video, or try to bring it in to get fixed.

I agree with you here. I was just saying that if he was going to get the switch, it wouldn't be completly usless. I have had a bad set of A/V cables giving me a blank screen and no sound but what he seems to be describing is waves and lines in the picture which means he can see what's going on.
  22. I'm just going on what I've been told. I have never trusted the Tokyopop website for it's release date on this manga. It keeps changing and they don't update it. I'm not sure why your comic shop won't be getting it next month but I've been told that mine will. I could be wrong though. It might have changed again and I wasn't informed.
  23. I played this game for a while and me and a couple friends are thinking of starting it back up again. I have a level 123 hunter (Don't remember what the other name is) and a whole bunch of rare items that I just got from playing long enough. I also have a level 81 (I think, I know it's above 80) ranger. I usually use a Lavis Cannon on the hunter (I have three with different percents) and the Heaven Punisher when it works and then usually the Snow Queen when it doesn't on the ranger. Oh and by the way, Crimson Spider, you can't kill other people online though there are pleanty of cheaters.
  24. I just have a quick comment on the differences in the number of players playing. I have tried one player and it does have it's interesting points. The fact that there are two more formations in one player is what I like, You get your standard horizontal and vertical lines but you also get a box with all of the Links facing the same direction and a diamond with all of the Links back to back facing like the directions of a compass. In two player, as mentioned before, you can each have two links or one player can have three and the other can have one. I've played through most of what I've done with two players and only did one level in one player to try it out. In three (and four but I've only done up to three) player, an interesting new feature is added. That is the voting at the end. After you complete the area, it brings up a vote where you vote for the most bothersom player (the hero of darkness) and the most elpful player (the hero of light). And you can't vote for yourself. Then, it goes on to the normal hero rankings. It works the same way with three and four player except that in three player, one person gets an extra Link. Just thought I'd mention that. I'm not sure if any of this was allready said because I didn't read all of this thread but either way, it's in one post now.

I agree with Bean on this one. Not only wiill the A/V switch most likely fix the problem (going on what Bean said), it will also provide a convinence in hooking up multiple systems. Using it, you can plug 5 things in (to the Pelican model) using standard A/V or S-Video cables. The, only 1 set of wires goes out of that box and into the TV so you don't have to keep switching cords if you only have one set of A/V jacks.
