Thanks, that's definitely appreciated. I'll get you set up to do so soon. As for the name, it was actually Gavin's idea. I didn't know much about it originally but it's definitely not a twist of new. See this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noosphere I've confirmed this as an issue but I have no idea what caused it. The change in structure should not have affected the signature editor. I'll get it fixed though - thanks for the report.

An advertisement thread indeed. In addition to what Allamorph pointed out, it's also this user's first post. Closing and removing the link.

I looked into doing that but haven't found a simple (i.e. not re-writing the skin templates) way yet. It's definitely on my list though.

Hello and welcome back! You're now looking at the new structure for OB. Since activity has kind of slowed, we didn't think it really made sense to spread our content as thin as it was before. So, related forums were merged and a tagging system was implemented. There are default tags to represent the different forums that used to exist and they should all be select-able right away. If you think we're missing a tag somewhere though, please let me know and I'll get it added right away. The original plan was to merge Theatre into Creative Works but I thought about it and wasn't sure if that would be a good idea. What do you think? Also, I'll be re-working stuck threads and individual rules into one simple thread, eventually to be pinned in this forum so please ignore the chaos created by the merge. Finally, there was no way to automate the tagging of individual threads from White Noise. If there any voluenteers, I'll figure out how to let you tag things and you can have at it when you're bored ^_^ Of course, ask any questions you may have here but in the mean time, I hope you all enjoy the newer, streamlined OtakuBoards!

I think that's what keeps many of us coming back, at least to check in occasionally, and I'm thankful for it :) And on that note, it's great to see you again! Expect a PM shortly!

Those really were the days ^_^ Welcome back! It's great to see you again! Also, best of luck with your last semester (I assume)!

I really need to fix my server so I can get Minecraft up and running again.

Well, my 17° F doesn't seem to bad any more... Upstate New York will do that to you though.

Hello and welcome! It was a bit of a challenge finally getting you on here but I'm glad you made it through (and helped solve that issue once and for all in the process)! I've always wanted to learn Japanese myself but never got around to doing it. Best of luck with your classes!

I think this is true for pretty much all things the media reports on that the public winds up outraged about. Things like the shooting in Connecticut and the other school killings - by talking about them for weeks on end, the killers wind up being glorified. It's easy to remember their names but can you name a victim of Columbine without looking them up? While this certainly isn't the only factor involved, I do feel like giving them this much attention only confirms for anyone else thinking of going out in a similar blaze that it will, in fact, work.

Strange, but at least it's resolved. And on that note, happy birthday ^_^
-
That's really strange. Definitely keep me posted.

Try refreshing from your normal browser with CTRL + F5 (Command + F5 on a Mac?) - it could just be a cache issue.
-
I'm seeing your birthday as January 4 both here and on theOtaku so I'm assuming you got it working?

I thought of this almost jokingly at first but now I'm kind of curious - what if that speech, while not inciting imminent violence against those that it's targeting, incites that violence against the speaker? I'm sure most people who witness them in person would be more than happy to throw a few punches so theoretically, it could be the cause of some violence. Seems like a pretty ridiculous loophole and not likely one that should be taken seriously but it is kind of thought provoking none the less.

I guess my phrasing was a bit poor - it's not like I see Ferraris and Lamborghinis on a daily basis but they're common by comparison and I do see them frequently enough that their sightings aren't as exciting any more.

He does still occasionally stop by though so he may not miss this message, though I imagine a PM may be a little more effective since it would come with an email as well.
I still poke around when I get the chance but, much like Shy, I'm just getting older and running out of things to say.
I think that's an unfortunate truth for most of us that have been here for a while. That, combined with the lack of regular new members, tends to hurt activity and makes discussions that much harder to come by. I do have years of fond memories from this place myself though so I'm glad that there are still a bunch of us around, even if it is infrequently ^_^

I've always wanted an Aston Martin, specifically the Vanquish although I haven't given specific models a lot of thought (and honestly picked Vanquish because it has the best sounding title). You see lots of Ferraris and Lamborghinis around (at least where I am) but it's very rare that you actually see an Aston Martin (I've never seen one in person actually).

I'm just outside NYC and getting some pretty severe wind and lots of exploding transformers but, so far, I'm doing okay. We just lost power for a few seconds but it came right back up and only a couple of branches have come down. It took a more southern route than they originally predicted so that seems to be working in our favor here. Your concern is definitely appreciated regardless though ^_^

Javascript is required so definitely don't disable it. I just did a quick test and it seems that enabling and then disabling compatibility mode breaks the comments on theOtaku. I'm working out a way to fix it now and I'll let you know if I come up with anything but regardless, you may want to look into a new browser as it seems more and more problems are cropping up with IE lately (and I don't mean security specifically - I've had rendering issues in IE where the same exact code displays perfectly on every other browser and validates against W3C's standards). I use Chrome personally but Firefox would also be a viable choice.
-
It seems to be working okay for me. Let's get some details. What browser and operating system are you using? Do you (know if you) have Javascript disabled? Also, can you try it in another browser if you have one installed?
-
Where are you having these issues? Here, on the profile comments, or on theOtaku's world/news/etc. comments?
I've mostly tried to avoid playing the same race, or going into other starting areas if I can help it to avoid that.
That is an excellent point. I hadn't even thought about the fact that other races would have different stories.

In the beta, I tried a Paladin and then, for like 15 minutes, a Thief. My main now is a Ranger though I also made a Thief to mess with as well. I may go back and make a Paladin eventually too but one issue I already forsee is that the game, at least the beginning, seems very linear and going through it multiple times in quick succession does not seem like a fun idea.
