What do otakus think about Homosexuality?
Retribution replied to Miryoku's topic in General Discussion
Everyone, stop quoting the Bible. It's people like who you are blind to other people's points of view and opinions. For all you know, the person reading your post couldn't care less about the Bible, it's message, or it's meaning to the argument. It's just another book. Sure, I'm a Christian, too, but we live in AMERICA. And in AMERICA, we get to practice whatever religion we want, so don't bring religion into this debate, please. 'Immorality' is complete garbage, since we do plenty of immoral things every day, but no one lifts a brow or points a finger at. In this country, we aren't allowed to discriminate against people on their race, gender, creed, religion, etc. Meaning, we shouldn't be allowed to amend the ****in Constitution with a *** amendment, that contradicts it! Soo... in conclusion, don't flash your religious beliefs just to get an amendment passed, because other people don't share your view, so why are you allowed to cram it down someones throat? -
Request A Banner and Avatar request- Pictures included
Retribution replied to PWNED's topic in Creative Works
What exactly do you want with these? They seem so unrelated, and I have no idea what your idea for the end product is. -
Sorry if you don't like it. I just did what you were talking about.

Don't make me stick this up there, man!

Well, I know the wee vagrant AI in the banner is really Zephie, it was too long to fit on the banner the way I wanted it to. Besides... I really should be studying for midterms right now. Anime's more important anyway! ;) Like? Dislike? EDIT: I added a border. She looked so lonely and lost without it.

I guess I don't like the image placement. Or the image for that matter. In the first banners with the man holding his head (close up), the colors seems too closely related, and things are a little blury. I would recommend getting a higher quality image. The second banners (man with shirt half off), the image is still not too great. There isn't a real point to these, no real feeling or message to be conveyed. It's just a picture with a few black lines on it. I give it a 2/5. Sorry if I seem a little harsh.

Scott Peterson to get death sentence
Retribution replied to Hell Raizer's topic in General Discussion
Why does it take so long for them to kick it? I think my dad said that their lawyers keep making appeals or something like that to keep stalling. Believe that everyone on death row should get ONE case more to prove their innocence. There are plenty of people who are innnocent on death row, therefore the case thing might save a few of them... maybe not. Then again, the case thing sounds bad. Never mind. And they should all be put to death in a week or something like that, to get them out of the system. I mean, since 1978? C'mon! That's WAY too long. -
There are far more inventive things one could think up.
Most of the time, 'inventive' ways to punish people is called cruel and unusual, something we don't do here in the US to criminals, no matter how much they deserve it. He deserved to die. And he deserves to die cruelly and unusually, but then again, we shouldnt sink to his level, yadda yadda yadda. I think torture is out of the question, however. Maybe give him 35 years in prison, and then put him to death, no bail, no other cases. Draw out his punishment. -
Trees across the street. I think they look alright, but a little bland to me. I LOVE Jubilee and Silence is Golden. But so far, in my opinion, Gravity is your best work. I don't really take pictures of people that much, as I dont want to model for my own, and other people... well, they can be. Uncooperative. I like to take pictures of inanimate objects. Anyway. Back to you. I like The World. It reminds me of .hack somehow. The dark colors, as well as the name. Gravity I like the best... I don't really know why. Reminds me of anger. The absence of your eyes, and the white space, like everyone already said, makes it look like you don't want to communicate.

Yay! People like it! Maybe if I could get some inspiration, I'd be able to make something a wee bit more ... interesting.

Yeah, I heard about synthaesia on 60 minutes. You can taste a shape, see a sound, etc. It's because your brain's 'connections' aren't 'wired propertly.' I don't really have any of these, although I remember what things I did felt like. Like I remember what designing my site felt like, what it smelled like, what it looked like, etc. Strange... not really.

I'm not getting it. You want us to fill in the blank?
-
Thank you for the feedback. I just don't know what color border I should make. I white one doesn't show up like how I want, but a black border is too imposing.
-
Yeah, it gets all bright in the center because of the Radial Blurs I used with the zoom feature. Thanks for the feedback.

I've always been on the recieving end of that stuff. And yes, they need to hire younger refs, with better eye sight, and are actually young enuff to follow the play.

I think the problem has already been stated too many times, and the only solutions to this are: 1) Nuke the place (WRONG!) 2) Let the two countries duke it out (MAYBE) 3) Pray a strong leader comes and breaks the cycle. Someone who everyone wants to follow. (BEST!) Right now, we're siding more on #2, but #3 is the best option. Now, we have to wait for a strong political leader. *twiddles thumbs*

It's a sorry excuse for an abstraction. I wish I knew how to make these suckers better. Constructive critiscm is appreciated(sp?). So much for a techy effect...

Gah. Why is my inspiration so dry? Comments would be appreciated. I hope people actually comment this time. Not like my poetry thread where I got one response (thank you Karma ^.^)

Like many people, I like to play RISK, but not that much. Long, tedious board games often lose my interest rather quickly, unless the game is particularly competitive/fun/enjoyable. But we all know, Chess is the greatest board game. It's been around waaaay longer than Monopoly, RISK, and plenty other board games. Chess's strategy element is unrivaled by RISK. And we all know that. If two good players in Chess are dukin' it out, the game is phenominal! When two newbies are playing, the game is mind-numbingly annoying. I want to scream out "TAKE THAT PIECE, AND GET HIM IN CHECKMATE!" But enough of that. Chutes and Ladders is a fun, relatively short game that I enjoyed when I was about four or five. I haven't really played it since, but I know that it can be extremely annoying at times. Candyland rox my sox as well. But again, I haven't played it since my early, early years.
A bigger barrier than most things to travelling at or above the speed-of-light is G-forces. People black out around 8-9G's and travelling at light-speed would require some kind of method for overcoming this.
Very true. And THIS is the reason why Gundam comes in handy! ^.^ You would need some sort of G-nullifier, which reduces the G's to something humans can withstand. Doesn't need to be comfortable, but survivable. Maybe 2-3 (about a roller coaster). Maybe a gel or something that can some how absorb the Gs. Or... better yet, and more creative would be a floating section within the craft, that way there would be no Gs. The problem with this is that the acceleration would make the section hit the craft, and the people would slam into the wall coming towards them. Do you think that cryogenics could be a more plasible solution? You're already knocked out, therefore the G's wouldn't mess you up (unless we're talking light speed), and you could be awaken when you reach your destination. The sad, sad fact of the matter is, however that we dont have a source of energy to propel a craft that fast, and we dont have materials strong enough to keep the craft in a solid shape. I'm thinking that a rip in the time-space continuum is humanity's best bet.
-
Who knows? Maybe there is a way to defy the time-space continuum. Like 'ripping' a whole in space, so that the ship doesn't have to undergo the stress of that speed. People thought alot of things back in the day. We have no idea what turns and twists science will take. Who knows? Maybe we will figure out how to teleport large objects before we can break the light barrier. We've already transported like single protons and electrons or something like that. Maybe... just maybe... we can make this technology more advanced so that someday in the next few hundred years, we can teleport things. Wouldn't that rock? It could happen. Computers used to be the size of entire rooms -- commmunity centers were dedicated to two computers. And now, we have computers that you can fit on your lap, and are exponentially faster than those hunky computers with only MS-DOS installed on it.
-
In my opinion, no, I don't think humans can achieve faster-than-light speeds and survive -- let alone speak of the craft's condition from such speeds. Einstein had good reasons, which I don't feel like bringing up right now, but seem logical. He was right about alot of others things, why not this one? Then again, humans thought it impossible to break the speed of sound. Maybe this is the same deal.
-
No. I think you should at least get help. From the cops, principal, other friends, etc. Don't just sit there and take it. Btw, are you a girl? If so, I think you could get a few male 'body guards,' and sik'em on the trouble makers. Heh. If you're a boy... you're out of luck. Because other males won't frighten these stupid f**ks. And yes, I've heard people say things are Jewish. I want to clock them, mainly because the people who say this only do it because others are too. They probably don't recognize they are saying something a Nazi would. Most people who say "That's jewish" or "Don't be a jew" wouldnt've survived the Nazi holocaust. Idiots these days.

I think that if in the middle of WWII, aliens came to attack humanity, we would be throughly dead. Hilter was a crazy guy, and he would not stop conquering until he had the world, even if he had to kill the allies and the aliens. He was so hell bent on killing Jews, he wouldn't stop. There would just be an extra element of chaos. I think that America would've withdrawn all troops to guard America -- the priority. All other nations would do the same, execpt for maybe Germany. They might take advantage of the situation and attack everyone they could. In short, Hitler would NEVER put aside his hatred for the jews, and would be so blood thirsty, he would try to exterminate the aliens too. Common logic cannot be applied to Hitler. I think that if aliens were to attack the world now, in a time of relatively global peace, we would all (for the most part) band together to repel them. The fact of the matter is, we would get soooo destroyed. We don't have the space technology to repel them. And if they came here, that means they have better technology than us by a longshot. So we would be slaughtered like pigs. And world peace is unattainable, even with the attack of aliens, because then we would still be fighting. And after (if) we repelled them, we would go back to our petty arguments. Even if one race were to exist under a common gov't, the world still wouldn't have peace. Take the Roman Empire. Get too big, and your a goner. Besides, humans naturally have conflict of beliefs/opinion, therefore we would have to alter the human mind/nature (as previously stated), which we aren't going to do to everyone on Earth. Heck, there'd be opposition to that too.
