What to do around people you like...
Retribution replied to ryo_sagara's topic in General Discussion
Well, I'm not a relationship hotshot either. That's why I'm asking these questions. And I'll take your advice on the warnings. -
Like Yu-Gi-Oh. Likewise for Pokemon, only to a lesser extent. Yu-Gi-Oh's whole livelyhood is the cards... both in the show and in real life.

Goody! I'm obtaining intel ^.^ And how could I figure out which chocolates a girl prefers? Just asking outright? Maybe a little awkward... Maybe if the conversation went towards that topic it would'nt seem so out of place? And do roses work on a girl for valentines day/birthday? -
Well, I have the fever. I got it from Reise and Dyne I suppose... Now I'm hijacking my mom's digital camera and I started taking pictures... tell me what you think. I'll just insert the links because the pictures are sort of large. Go ahead and be rough with me. As long as it's your opinion and you're not flaming me, I'd like to hear your criticism on these, so that I can get better. I'm stuck without photoshop tonight, so I was using Microsoft Editor... idiotic things that people say about relationships
Retribution replied to foreverinfinity's topic in General Discussion
You bring up a good point. There are cultural norms that are in place, but why, I have no idea. I think the reason why 14 year olds don't regularly date 31 year olds in mainly because of conflict of interests. Neither one is remotely interested in what the other does for a living, hobbies, free time, etc. There is also the maturity issue, and I sort of doubt that a 14 year old is as mature as a 31 year old. There may be a few, but not too many. -
Oh. Sorry man. I didn't mean to sound ... mean I guess. My bad. I like the boot alot, mainly because the green plants stand out against the red background. The bed picture, isn't as good as Thy Boot of Power, but it still looks some what interesting.

"Say hello to my little friend!" Lame. I didn't know my creativity could suck that much.

Yay! I contributed useful information somewhere ^.^ And a recent trend I picked up was that girls love chocolate. May I ask this intriguing species, why do they like chocolate? -
Anime Gundam Seed Vs. Neon Genesis Evangelion: Who Would Win?
Retribution replied to KiraStrike29's topic in Otaku Central
I haven't watched enough Evangelion to make a fair judgement, but from what I've seen, Gundam SEED would have a good time of killing EVA. The Gundams are far faster, more agile, and have more advanced weaponry than an EVA unit. Not to mention that Kira and Athrun are both Newtypes, already giving them a very pronounced upper hand. When Kira or Athrun enter their Seed Modes, the EVAs would be mince meat, because as far as I can tell, they use primitive weapons such as assault rifles, metal melee weapons, etc, while Gundams have beam technology, such as Kira's
reallly really long beam lance that killed Raww le Kruze
beam saber, beam rifles, etc. And the very fact that the EVA units are
alive, and linked to their pilot thru a sync would prove very bad in combat. If they get shot in the leg, they feel that pain. If their suit gets stabbed, they feel it. A gundam pilot doesn't have that link, therefore he/she can go on fighting more effectively.
Not really a discussion IMO. -
First if you can't even talk to the person: Just start with subtle acts of kindness to build up some confidence, things like picking stuff up for them if they drop it, or getting things for them. (Papers work nicely if you're in school) Second when you do finally talk to them: Compliments make people feel good about themselves try that, or talk about something casual. (Homework, clothes, prices of things, weather, etc.)
NO TALK ABOUT PRICES! I repeat, NO TALK ABOUT PRICES! Usually, talking about prices is alright if neither one of you have the item, but if one of you does... lay off. Things could get really awkward if it ends up they got their clothes from the thriftstore and their shoes from Payless, because they might be embarresed about that. Don't talk about your own things either like, "Yeah, I know, isn't this shirt awesome? I got it for $50 at ____." This could make the person feel poor or slightly less important that you if you flaunt your posessions. But innocent talk about something like "Yeah, I wish I had a Gameboy DS. How much do they cost?" if neither one of you has it. Point is be careful. Me? Personally, I just try to befriend them just like I would with any other person that I'm not interested in a relationship with. The point where I want it to go a little farther, I tend to go the extra distance to try to please the girl, make them feel special, etc, without coming on too strong. Like buying her chocolate and you've only known her for a month. -
I like both anime and manga. If the anime is terrible, I'll go to the manga for a second look at it, and it usually is really good. If the manga is terrible (rarely the case), I'll try to check out the anime. It's all a matter of circumstance for me, because some animes are good, and some are horrendous -- the same goes for mangas. Overall, I tend to go for animes, because the movements aren't divided up into frames. I'll vote anime. Subs vs Dubs is also a circumstantial argument for me, because if a sub is low quality and inaccurate, I won't like it. If a dub is off sync, it'll be really bad. But 7 out of 10, I'll go for a sub.

Retribution replied to Bullet Theory's topic in Creative Works
Yeah, I liked the song too. But I will agree that it does need a melody, but I'll cut you slack because it's online. It might need another verse to complete the song's meaning, and make it last more than two minutes. -
Well, I scribbled this one down in English class. Tell me what you think... c&c are welcome! By the way, it's a haiku. EDIT: I know it's not that good, but people please comment! Only five views... :( Blossomed We were beautiful A bloomed gasoline rainbow A mistaken love
"it's better to reign in hell, than to serve in heaven"
I'm going to have to disagree with that. You don't reign in hell, your just being tortured, and you hate yourself, your existence, and everything else around you. That's what I think at least. ::shrug:: Besides, even if your serving in heaven, it's not going to be a bad kind of servitude, it'll be something like you want to serve, and you enjoy the heck out of every moment. I suppose your quote is assuming that hell and heaven don't transcend language, and it's possible to describe them. Or maybe it's just your opinion. Oh well. And why do people think it will be cool to die? According to some, it is when you just cease to exist. To others, it seems like this party, this adventure. Personally, I think that nobody here is actually ready to die, wants to die to see what its like, or thinks truly that death is cool.

At the end of the world, where will you be?
Retribution replied to Doukeshi's topic in General Discussion
Sorry ahead of time for my response getting a little too religious. ----
What you fail to realize is that by 'biblical' I mean not only the bible, but also the qur'an, the TehNaKa, ect, ect, *goes on listing the religious books of all cultures and religions*. And don't even tell me that [U]all[/U'] of them specify the preclusions to our ultimate end, because I know for a fact that they don't having read several of them myself. Like the religious book of the Craft, for example. It says nothing about events leading up to the apocalypse.
Point taken. But I've never heard of Craft or the TehNaKa. What religion are these books holy in?
Funny, if you're gonna be referencing the Bible...does the Bible not say that we all deserve to die? That we all are sinners and that the only thing sparing us from burning in eternal hell is that about 2000 years ago, someone supposedly got nailed to a crucifix where he died three days later? If there's something we've done that's bad enough for someone to have to get nailed to two pieces of wood and die to make up for it, but not enough of a sin that we all deserve to die for it, please tell me.
Please read the bible before quoting it incorrectly. First of all, Jesus died by crucifixion, and three days later came back to life by his own power, then ascended into heaven. The bible says that the Lamb of God died to wash the sins of the world away. He has mercy on us, as long as we recognize him as the Savior, and repent of our evil ways. Last time I checked, I repent of my ways every few days, and recognize him as my Savior. And in Chrisitianity, death is a release into a pure and perfect realm, where we get to exist among Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God the Father forever. Assuming you followed the Word.
And the human race being a bunch of pillagers, destroyers of nature, killers of all things? I hate to break this to you, but we ARE. Just in our simple quest for a more technologically advanced society, for a better living, we destroy, burn, and otherwise utterly annihalate anything and everything to provide the energy we would inevitably 'need' to produce the necessary energy to simply sustain our lives. And what of it? The rain forests are dying, polar ice caps are melting, oceans, lakes and rivers are growing dark with the filth of the human race...if we found a way to convert people into a massive energy source, I wouldn't be surprised if we turned on each other, feeding our own kind into some machine to extract the energy from within.
Your first point is true. The human race as a whole destroys nature, but not for fun. The lifestyle we have grown into demands of it, and society would either collapse -- ending humanity -- or would riot -- total anarchy. Personally, selfishly, I'd rather not die early in life to save the planet. Your second point is funny. That we would turn on humans for energy. I seriously doubt that if any attempt to harness people's body heat/electricity for energy is possible, and if it is, would be able to stand the war that the rest of the world would take to them. Yes, it's true, the US sleeps on many terrible problems, such as genocide in Sudan as well as many other places, oppressive gov'ts all around the world, etc. I think that if we could, our president isn't stupid enough not to play hero and try to save the world. I think that at the sight of the whole human race being enslaved like that would rise an international call for uniting to stop it, mainly because it might happen to us if we let it go on too long. Just give atomic fission ( I think that's the one) a chance. Once we figure out how to crack open the nucleus of an atom, we will have energy a-plenty to go around, as something like a book could fuel us for hundreds of years. So in summary, I don't think that the whole human race deserves to die, and no, I don't think that humans will be harvested for energy ... ever. -
And what is a twinkie?
Whoa. Another shocker. A twinkie is a yummy, fattening cream filled sponge cake. It's better than it sounds, really! Well, Lady Rin, your facts are correct, but I'm not so sure about the set-up, clean-up time. I guess it has something to do with the size of your family, which I'm guessing is somewhat small. Yes, cooking your own food cheaper, and healthier, but many people do not have the time to cook their own meals with school, job(s), and other responsibilities weighing them down. I guess this whole discussion is a big matter of how you've been raised, and what is 'normal' for you.

It looks too dark.I think it needs something red to stand out from all the black and white. But it definetly doesn't look like a rose now. Good job, though. I like the abstract-ness.

Pretty funny stuff. I think you could've showed the guys n00bne55, describing him in greater detail. There's no real character development or anything, but maybe this is one of those chill-out, have fun stories.
When I want to pig out, I gorge myself on Cheerios or sticky rice. Until high school, I had never tasted a Pop Tart or Twinkie, and ate McDonald's perhaps two or three times a year. ~Dagger~
Whoa Dagger. I've never heard of that... ever... But you're one healthy dude! Yeah, I exercise about half the year, during the soccer season, then chill out the other half. I really should stay in shape year round, but ... I'm lazy. Oh well.

Of course you are! Tehehehe. It's also a fail safe way to get the cute guys you girls want instead of a sweaty otaku. ::shudder:: With nasal congestion. And bifocals. Oh god.
Like a Venn diagram, these two countries borders should overlap, they should have a Union on the Gaza strip. Ostensibly, the Israeli border starts 2 miles to the west of the western edge of the Gaza strip, and the Pakistani border starts 2 miles to the east of the eastern border of the Gaza strip. And the land in between is for anyoe. An international zone. Why is that so hard? Maybe they don't believe the same things about religion as you do, but they worship the same place. Isn't that enough to encourage friendship? Compromise is the key here.
It isn't enough for the two countries. There are people over there who don't want to compromise, hence the suicide bombers who detonate themselves in the middle of a market, even while the Palestinians and the Israelis were making a peace conference. And on top of that, like I JUST said before, there's the religious difference. They both think that this strip of land is THEIRS. Not anyone elses, no compromise invovled. Jerusalem is their promised land in Judiasm, and the holy land in Islam. Think of it like this: You live in your house. And one day, some random family comes up and says "Hey, this is our home according to this (point to identification papers)." And how do you reply? You have legal rights over the house. "Erm... we bought this house a while ago... and our papers say that we own it." So would you share your house with these people? I'm betting on no, unless this family has one hot daughter (or son for the ladies). Let's say they don't. The answer is no. So... you take them to court. Right? Yeah, probably, but before that, there will be some sort of verbal confrontation (this could be a very very small scale war), resulting in the two families not liking each other's first impressions, and only gets worse during the trial. Do you see why both sides dont want a compromise?

Mu-ha ha. I'm also like him. There's no way I can think to get fat -- other than me eating until my stomach explodes for every meal, every day and my metabolism slows down. But I'm pretty sure it won't until I'm really old, because my mom's metabolism is still just as fast as when she was my age, and I have her build so... I'm guessing I'm staying like her for a while. Which is good. ^________^ Anyway, I eat fast food fairly regularly. I don't work at a fast food joint, so I don't have that temptation, but whenever I get the chance, I chow down. Chipotle ownz Wendys/Mikky D's/BK/everywhere else. Heheh. Go Burritos. But not the nasty ones from taco bell.

Well, I'm African American, and there's racist jokes a-plenty to us. I'm not the sterotypical black guy. Now think... what is the sterotypical black guy? I'm going to guess that about half of you think of a black male, listening to rap, baggy clothes, maleducated, and raised in a rough neighborhood. I'm not that at all, therefore when I get angry at other black people for ruining our name, my mom says that I'm worse than the KKK. I mean, jeez. I don't think it's that bad that I'm ashamed that more black males (college age) are in jail than there are in college, or that the leading cause of death for black males b/w the ages of 15 - 21 is gunshot wounds. It's a sad fact, and my mom get's pissed for me guessing that a great deal of black people fit the description given in the second paragraph, and being ashamed that many don't try to break their vicious cycle. As for the jokes, meh, they don't really bother me. I usually keep quiet if people are serious about it, sometimes I may say "Shut the ******* up you racist b*****" Depends on how the wind blows. I don't crack racist jokes. I used to, but my parents hammered me hard about the fact that racism is no joke -- be it not serious or for real. I don't have a problem with people joking. But you cross the red line when you are a bigot.
