also, I dont like to hear people ask what relgion I follow. espically people I barely know. [so I tell them I dont follow a religion, when in reality I'm a christian, I just dont like admitting it to people.']
I haven't been to sunday school in quite a while, but if I'm not mistaken, Christians are supposed to accept persecution for their faith openly. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Sorry for preaching at you, but it grinds my gears when people don't stand for what they believe in.

I personally don't like it at all. The song only reinforces their image as an angst-ridden, misunderstood, us vs the world kind of band. Lyrics in LP songs are usually decent, but I can't say the same for this single. Ah well, I guess I moved on from them a while ago anyway.
Part of learning if someone likes you is about their body language, so don't use words so much. Use them as a last resort. Just flirt with them...a lot.[/COLOR']
Or the alternative, flirt using words. I find it's easier to communicate your intentions when you vocalize (and it's rarely awkward), and if you don't you come off as kind of creepy. You can also do a lot more with words than body language, imho.
Just thought I'd throw that in there in the hope of grounding the discussion a bit, lol. As I said before, the whole "we are better than you" or "this country is better than that country" is a bit silly.
Well, not that silly, so long as it isn't serious and aggressive. I always say that the US of A is better than [insert country], then break out into spontaneous "America, **** Yeah" (Team America, baby). I see it as the playful manifestation of my patriotism. But what's really annoying are people who look down on other countries based on stereotypes. For example: "I hate Americans. They're dumb, fat, and don't care about the rest of the world" or "I hate Canadians. They're basically the attic of the US where you store all your crap. Care for more maple syrup, eh?".

I broke up with my girlfriend for April Fool's. Needless to say she was happy to hear I was kidding after about an hour or so (I didn't want to wait longer to tell her I was kidding), but I'm sure I crossed the line with it. I told my best friends about it, they thought it was a bad idea, so naturally I had to execute such a horrid plan.
Whoa! 8D Congratulations on creating this amazing event, White! Now I really see that Shy picked the right person as his follower! *feels totally unworthy to even post in this thread*
Don't be bitter cuz this rpg is teh pwnz.
I fail to see what difference it makes, aside from an aesthetic point-of-view. :/
That's the point. It's cleaner and more organized.
Also, I find it funny that Jokopoko is the moderator of that specific subforum, but not the other two related forums like the rest of the Mob.
Dude, he's British. What do you expect, equal privileges or something? Anyway, I think the changes are good, but why does the Art Studio have to be at the very bottom? Grr... And is it just me or are the forums much more silvery? With that, please change the collapse/expand arrows on the "What's Going On?" box to match with the new ones.

Mao t is on hold because I can't find a high res image of the misunderstood tyrant. ;D Instead, there is this design I whipped up. I'm in general liking my style for t-shirts, but I'm having trouble getting ideas, and I feel like this one might be cliche and overdone. Ideas? Criticism? Tweaks or just start over again? As an aside, Matt, try to make things look less busy. Your main focus and the background blend together and so the focus is lost.

I think it largely depends on the age of the girl. If she's 11, you might be justified in yelling at her. If she's 18, you were dead wrong. I'm not sure if anyone has brought this point up, but the thread has kinda been tl;dr thus far. There's nothing wrong with being a virgin, but there is something wrong with essentially making that decision for someone else. It really is a grey area, and I personally believe it largely hinges upon age. Yes, you have a right to do what you please, as it is your life, but I can only apply that logic so far in good conscience. At a certain point, you need to be told what is good for you, because you're just not mentally mature enough to understand what could come about through sex (esp unprotected). My gut reaction is that you were wrong. More info on the situation, plz?

Slavery: Trying to atone, but why now?
Retribution replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion
Dudes, if we really think about it, we've all been wronged by someone, historically. Its called life, and it moves on. It forgets things that lose relevance. The people whose ancestors were slaves should thank their lucky stars that they aren't anymore, and don't live in Africa, since it seems to be hell on earth at the moment. My family is Dutch/Friesian, and we've been screwed over too. First the Romans, then the Holy Roman Empire, then the Spanish. I hold no ill-will towards the descendants of the people involved. If I met anyone, and knew that their family had screwed over mine, my reaction would be the same as any other...except I would stab them. No...I couldn't stab anyone.
But that's the thing... the wrongs of slavery have persisted to be relevant to this day. Slavery has been directly responsible for the condition of black community since 1863. I hold no ill will towards modern whites, since they have no control over their father's actions, but I do think a "Sorry" from the government is appropriate. I'm going to make the dubious claim that the Dutch weren't as screwed over as the Africans brought over and enslaved for 300+ years. And I think you go a bit too far in being thankful for slavery. I'm thankful for not being an African at this point, and I have infinite respect for my ancestors who bore the horrors of slavery, but to say "You're lucky slavery happened, better than being in Africa" is overstating it. -
If You Could Fly, Who Would You Spit On?
Retribution replied to DeadSeraphim's topic in General Discussion
I wonder if you would be so eager to spit on a fellow member if you knew that many of us might get you back in return. :p Though I doubt I'm the one you would spit on, at least I hope I'm not! lol
Ah, but that's the thing... no one would care if White spat on this member. From what I've read in this thread, I would assume he'd be greeted as a hero if he did. :p -
I love the idea, Lunox. Anyway, I'm currently making designs for future shirts I want to make. I have one design more or less finished here. As you can see, a girl would be more likely to wear it. Any suggestions on modifications? Also, I'm looking for Mao Zedong stocks (or any high-quality communist imagery)... if you've got any, drop me a PM. I'm thinking of putting the text on this on a slant and putting Mao somewhere on it. The text says "coup d'etat" in Russian.

Well, I really have no understanding of the mechanics of taxes and such. But I do think within reason, jail time for tax evasion is warranted. Certainly if you dodge your way out of paying a few thousands dollars here or something, you might not deserve jail (and perhaps just a fine, etc) but anything substantial should definitely get you time. Essentially you are stealing from the state, which is unacceptable. I don't really understand why someone would evade in the first place if they knew they were getting jail time. It seems like a rather fair system (it is based proportionally to income brackets, right?).
I don't think the school is citing Leviticus. I mean, the school does allow tattoos for religious, cultural, and health reasons (although for the life of me I can't imagine what tattoos have to do with health), so I really doubt they're using 19:28 as a basis. This feels more like a school-specific value, and it likely has consdierably more to do with the nature of the tatoo than tattoos themselves.
I agree, and it was more in response to vegeta rocker. But it would be dubious to say that they forbid tattoos because of their "nature" when the school [I believe] has considerable Judeo-Christian heritage.
-
The problem with citing Leviticus as grounds for "God supporting it" is that there's so much other stuff in the book that is currently disregarded. To single out a passage like that and hold it up to condemn tattoos while saying "That other stuff is antiquated" seems like a double standard. Not to mention Christianity kind of tosses out Leviticus as a moral standard, cuz Jesus said "An eye for an eye is the old way, I am the new way".
-
In the end, if he's allowed this tattoo, even covered then all it's doing is undermining the school's authority, rules need to be enforced for the good of everybody. At least that's just my feeling on it. It's a shame the kid seems to be seriously interested in school, but then he should have thought of that before getting cut.
Well, what if the school happened to be wrong in expelling him? Should they stand by their decision just because they need to maintain the authority? In any event, I'm not really willing to say "Well, should have read the rules!" to this kid. There is the possibility that the school is being unjust in its decisions if in fact there are other students with tattoos that haven't been expelled. And the possibility of discrimination looms large -- I wouldn't be surprised if this private school were opposed to the image of Tupac solely because he's a rapper. And part of me wants to call the school administration a bit overbearing and Pharisaical. If the intent of the rule is to prevent disruption, and he keeps it hidden, is not the intent of the law being upheld? Sure, literally he is still breaking the rules, but if the spirit of the law is followed, why bother?

I think my girlfriend is cheating on me, how do I go about this?...
Retribution replied to a topic in General Discussion
Even if she hasn't been cheating, dumping her is still a good way to go. Considering the fact that you'll see one another rarely, if ever again, IMO it's just not worth it to continue something like that. You're young, you're probably not bad looking or socially inept if you had a girlfriend before (unless she was ugly and/or socially inept, lol), so get back into the game. -
Pretty much everyone I know is on Facebook. I think it might be a regional thing (like how some high schools use MSN and some use AIM). I barely ever log in except to post birthday messages, but it's a nice way to stay connected. Ironically, knowing that my old friends are just a click away has kind of discouraged me from keeping in close contact with them. I tell myself that I can talk to them whenever I feel like it, and somehow having that ability keeps me from ever feeling like it. Secret groups are fun. ~Dagger~
Then the hunt for Dagger IRL continues, the trail is hot yet! I love Facebook, and I can't stand MySpace. I feel guilty having a Facebook as a senior in high school, since I'm kind of ruining the "cool" factor for college students, but I just don't care. It's cleaner, more organized and reliable, and no phishing. I'd love to add OB people, so just search for Alexander Ivey. And please tell me your username from here in the personalized message... no one likes random friend requests.
why I find these my most embarassing cds is because my friends dont like them [they think the lead singer sounds like a girl and they say the chords and drumlines are too easy to play, the worst part is they think they sing about "stupid" things'] and they dont like electronica, but when I'm alone I play Silent Alarm, and try to practice the bassline to every song.
Your friends have no taste if they don't like Bloc Party. Play them with pride! I even have the Japan Bonus Tracks for Silent Alarm, even if they aren't the greatest tracks on Silent Alarm. I think my worst CD buy was Linkin Park's Reanimation. I loved it at the time, but after middle school it was one of those things in the past I tried to bury. I'm proud to say that I like nothing the Pussycat Dolls have produced. Take that, Silva, take that!

I'm really sorry I didn't read this until now (a week or so later). And it's rather sad that something this good only got one comment. I absolutely loved it. You really capture the essence of hope and optimism even in the darkest moments, and I do notice that many of my peers fail to see the light in their lives. I agree with Rachmaninoff that it is a bit thick and slow, but I don't think it loses anything from long lines. I think you lose momentum in your meandering. You could conceivably cut out sentences here and there that don't really add anything and simply restate what you said earlier to make it flow more.
Do not give way to depression. Do not doubt your capabilities. Do not let the disease of darkness fester within your mind as that would be a tragedy.
I loved this, but I think would read better as:
Do not give way to depression. Do not doubt your capabilities. Do not let the disease fester within your mind. That would be a [adjective] tragedy.
The adjective could be something conveying gravity and magnitude, I just can't think of the right word right now. And I think it could end at "be... human." It ends on a powerful note, the rule of three considered. PS: This was delicious to read, man.
Naming off members here reminds me of some spoiled girls in a room who are squealing, "Look at me! Look at me! Aren't I special?"
I'm afraid I don't understand, considering we're talking about members we like, not flaunting our popularity.
