The OtaKuties- Contestants Thread [E]
Retribution replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in General Discussion
Well, the jig is up. Both Shin AND Stuart have posted their pics. Game over for the rest of us. Name: Alex -
"Wanna go kill all humans?" -.-' So terrible, I'm sorrowful for the person who would even think of that. *Drowns in sorrow* (I'm not sure if I will ever recover from such a bad pick up line if any are good in the first place) (edit) That is enough of making fun of it anyway.
It's actually a decent pick up line, if you look at what he's implying, not to mention the humor attached to it. I don't see what's so bad or sorrowful about it... perhaps you missed the humor of it?

Request Final Fantasy XII Avatar and Banner Request
Retribution replied to Neptune's topic in Creative Works
You might have a bit more luck with artists on here if you provided a picture or two you'd like in your avatar/banner. I mean, they're already doing you a favor by designing you your avatar/banner, the least you could do is give them something to work with, no? ;) -
I would have asked her out if i was talking to just her. That, and i just found out after she left that there's a dance, and i was gonna ask her to it this morning. Good idea or bad?
We can't really hold your hand every step of the way. There's just way too much information we're missing to make a good judgment on how she feels and how you should respond. Things like the amount of time you've known her, how she typically acts around guys, if you two talk on the phone, (and countless other details) we just don't have. Personally, I'd say take it slow and don't ask her out to this dance. It sounds like you're taking it a bit too fast, but again, that judgment is based off of very little.

I shook Barack Obama's hand twice and had a conversation with him a few weeks back. My dad's a public official, so we got to talk to him after the speech he gave. He's a great guy (and a Columbia alum! It's where I'm headed for college next year!).
I'm just wondering how you all feel about myspace.
I never understood why people were so opinionated on the issue. As if MySpace had some detrimental affect on their lives.
no in betweens I'm afraid. I'm either for it all together or against it, for this paper.
An absolute position is foolish. The world is not black and white.

It is essential to ask yourself what these clones will do or what they will be used for. If they're cloned to be slaves or a bag of replacement organs, certainly not. Personally, I'm not sure what use a human clone has aside from showing we can. But the ability to clone only specific organs might be developed through our efforts in cloning, so I would say leave open a path science can explore for solutions in the real world.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, 11100000101! Before posting, please, please, pretty please read the Official OtakuBoards Rules and the Art Studio Rules so that you know what is expected of members here. To be honest, we expect a lot, one of which being threads that generate discussion or serve some sort of purpose. Unfortunately, this thread does neither. A general "who likes MS paint?" topic isn't quite up to par with our standards and is considered spam. If you'd like to create a thread discussing something specific about MS Paint, or have a question about the program, feel free to create a thread about it. Thanks for your cooperation and patience. If you have any questions, don't hesitate me or another staff member. Thread closed.
My personal opinion on this matter is that they shouldn't act like true equals because they aren't. To say men and women are equal is to imply that you can judge the two sexes, and you simply can't. Men and women are different, that's all there is to it. Does that mean one has less potential than the other? Of course not. Does it mean one should have less rights than the other? Nope, it's not the case. But it does mean that we should treat each other differently. The man should always protect the women and children first, simply because they are, on the whole, more capable. Now, if it's obvious that a woman is stronger than a man then it should be the other way around. When it comes to asking girls out...haha, if my girlfriend read this she'd get a good laugh. She was the one who asked me out and pushed for the whole relationship, basically because i was in an...odd position? Also very inexperienced with the whole matter. I have no problem with her being aggresive...as a matter of fact i really like it, it's hot. ^L^ And besides, it's 2006, it's not uncommon for a girl to ask a guy out anymore. Later.
So wait, what does your first paragraph have to do with the topic at hand if you agree with the crux of Lunox's argument?
-
I'm definitely agreeing with Lunox here. In theory, it should be a two-way street. But guys, if you intend on getting a girlfriend and you know she likes you, don't wait. It'll be fatal.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but what's with the cholera art obsession? It seems to me as if it's largely based in drawing abstract figures, not so much Photoshop techniques.
-
Your picture isn't working... just thought I'd let you know so that you could fix it.
-
Cool, but what do they mean?
To be frank, the text has little to do with how the art could be improved. "Cool" isn't helpful to anyone, really. While it's a nice thing to say, a point-blank compliment doesn't let the artist know what they did well or how it could be improved, which is the biggest part of the Art Studio. Something like "The first page looks amazing -- the proportions and background look good, but the second page could be better in terms of the character's face" is much more helpful, while still being supportive to the artist's efforts.
I read the short story version of The Things They Carried[/b'], which I really loved. Is the book worth buying or should I just borrow it? I'm incredibly fussy about books, so a lot of times I end up buying novels and end up not liking them. >_>
The Things They Carried was absolutely amazing. If you go into it expecting some sort of war novel, you'll be pleasantly shocked that it's not about war. As for The Scarlet Letter, I think I would've liked it had it been more accessible. The long-winded and roundabout prose was somewhat frustrating. Hawthorne's a brilliant writer, but a very tough read. Currently, I'm reading Macbeth, which was a decent play. The plot is interesting, but not really complex or involving as something like Oedipus Rex. And to me, there was a lack of development when compared to something like Romeo and Juliet or Othello. But I'm counting my blessings that we don't need to read something lame like King Lear.
Well this is different in the way that the tutorials will always be there for members to come. It's not fair to future artists if the tutorial is before their time and they have no index to find help. :nope: [/FONT']
I'm not going to stick something that lasts two months and creates 6 total tutorials, for example. If it's going to be stickied, the tutorials need to be of good quality and the index should be comprehensive. Until I feel that's the case, the thread will remain as-is. Does that seem fair? I'm not trying to play Mr. Heavy-Handed Mod or anything.
-
I also motion for this to be stickied. :)[/FONT']
I will consider sticking it if the program turns out to be a successful one. I'm willing to support something that proves itself to be long-lasting and high quality as opposed to a sporadic fad (Worm, anyone? ;)).

Gender segregated classrooms? Yay or Nay?
Retribution replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Yeah i know its an old topic Man i cant believe so many people voted no.. and see thats the problem. Most people mainly still kids in high school are only saying that they only go to school for the chicks (or guys depending on gender)... has anyone noticed that thats not the point of school. Keep the genders in the same school but different classes. that should work best instead of just seperating them in general. they can probably have like one or two classes in which they share classes like PE or Band practice and other stuff like that. so that way everyone is happy and hell boys might finally starting thinking with their heads upstairs instead of the head downstairs. Ya mean. by the way do you know the results for that school that was trying to segregate the classes.
That's a rather pretentious point of view -- the problem is that the people who said "no" only did so because they're horny teens? Of course it couldn't be that we had actual objections to the idea, that would be silly. :p -
Otakupedia Entries/Suggestions/Discussion thread
Retribution replied to Charles's topic in General Discussion
I don't get it... why don't you just post this up on Wikipedia? -
I like this idea alot, and I'm glad you're going to be continuing the general idea of GFX Class. I may have missed it or something, but if we're going to be posting tutorials in another thread, will there be an index of all tutorials in this thread? And are members allowed to request tutorials?

I was one of the first people in my area to get a Gameboy, and when I did I was the toast of the town.

What You Want For Christmas THIS YEAR
^ Only the one with a debauched sense of it, my good sir. What a burlesque depiction of "justice": Plato's probably roffling in his grave . :animesmil
Then tell me what is justice.
Way to insinuate that I enjoy the pain and humiliation of others, brushing off my offense as simply the inability to take a joke.[/color']
As if my tone wasn't joking enough? Come on! I knew you were serious... was it that cryptic that I was being facetious?
I think the line between justice and revenge lies between a quiet death sentence and a publically televised execution so people can see him "right before he's hanged, with the noose around his neck and his bewildered face." It lies between feeling relieved that a murderer is sentenced, and taking joy in the fact that the murderer will die.
Hey, for some that's part of the justice. Think of the folks whose families were gassed by the guy -- I'm sure they'd be perfectly fine with watching the man hang on TV. To you that's revenge, to them it's justice. It's an entirely subjective measure. And cannot one derive joy from justice being served?
